Adriana Hoyos Furnishings: Creating Timeless & Luxurious Lifestyle Experiences

Meet designer Adriana Hoyos and her husband, Eduardo Perez D., President of AHC International Holdings.

When Adriana Hoyos says she’s been around furniture design and art for as long as she can remember, she’s not exaggerating. Latin- American born, Miami-based, Adriana Hoyos sought a career in interior design in Ecuador where she was constantly challenged by the struggle of importing high-end furniture for her clients into the country. She decided to take matters into her own hands and began designing her own furniture, and with her husband, Eduardo Perez D., created Adriana Hoyos Furnishings. Eduardo is the co-founder and a visionary leader for the brand. Now, Miami has become the home and official headquarters for the brand.

What made you choose Miami as the official headquarter of Adriana Hoyos Furnishings?

Eduardo Perez D. CEO: The Corporate decision to move our commercial headquarters to Miami is due to Miami’s strategic location not only for the Latin American market but also for its active international market. Miami has become a metropolis on a great international scale and is desired by many not only for being a business hub but also for the various entertainment attractions, good living and glamour. The city of Miami also intertwines impeccably with our brand, as they are both stemmed from Latin American roots.

Where is the manufacturing executed?

The brand has its own manufacturing facilities throughout Latin America, and Miami is certainly the best place to be since it is a strategic commercial business hub. Adriana Hoyos Furnishings has been operating the American market since 2001 based in Miami. Now is the opportune moment to make a transition and to continue its international expansion.

We heard through the grapevine that you are launching a new collection, can you tell us about that?

Adriana Hoyos: Yes. The Galapagos Collection is launching this month. The collection was inspired by the beauty, flora and fauna of the Galapagos Islands. About a year ago my daughter, Andrea Perez, and I traveled to the archipelago on a project to furnish the new Celebrity Cruise Flora and we fell utterly and irrevocably in love with the island. Everything we saw, touched and smelled was completely unique, something people don’t get to witness every day. The shapes, colors and textures helped us disconnect completely and for a second… we felt whole. This feeling of “wholeness” motivated us to create a greater connection with the wild and celebrate it through our designs.

I remember as if it were yesterday, exploring the island and discovering its creatures and foliage. As we walked along the coastline we saw a majestic sea lion resting on a rock and it glimmered with the sun’s reflection, which helped us capture its silhouette perfectly. When we came back home we reminisced and remembered the view of the beautiful sea lion.... and we both looked at each other and we knew we were thinking the same thing. That’s when our collection’s ideation began, and the sea lion inspired our very first product of the collection, a sofa. Every sleek silhouette is directly inspired by the wild’s splendor, whether it be the hard shell of a turtle to the splendid curves of a cacti.

It’s easy to forget where we came from in today’s world. Now, more than ever, it’s good for us to take a step back, breathe it all in and invite nature in.
