  • Oral Surgery: The Most Common Procedures and What to Expect

Oral surgery is often seen as something intimidating, but it plays an essential role in maintaining our overall health. Whether you need a routine wisdom tooth extraction, a restorative root canal procedure, or a more complex corrective jaw surgery, understanding these procedures can ease any anxiety you might have.  This guide will walk you through the most common oral surgeries, explain what to expect during recovery, and demonstrate how they ultimately improve your oral health and well-being. The Role of Oral Surgery in Health Oral surgery isn't just about improving the appearance of your smile; it’s often a crucial step in preserving or restoring your overall health. Oral health is closely connected to your general health, and when dental issues arise, they can affect not just your teeth but your overall quality of life. “Teeth are your health,” says K.C. Uber, an oral health care advocate. She emphasizes that while cosmetic dentistry is important, the real focus should always be on health. "The only thing they will do for emergency dental is pull your teeth, but then I’d be walking around with no three front teeth. This isn’t appearance, this is health." It also helps to get compassionate care, where you feel comfortable and confident in every procedure. Therefore, your health may depend on the experts you select for your oral health care. Choosing partners like paramountdentistry.com/  can make a world of difference in your overall health.  The Most Common Oral Surgery Procedures Wisdom Tooth Extractions One of the most common types of oral surgery is the extraction of wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth, or third molars, often become problematic because there isn’t enough space in the mouth for them to erupt properly. This can lead to impaction, infection, or other complications. What to Expect: The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia, though sedation dentistry options are available for those with anxiety. The oral surgeon will make an incision in the gum tissue to access the tooth, and in some cases, they may need to remove some bone tissue to extract the tooth.  Recovery involves managing swelling and discomfort, but most patients can return to their normal routine in about 3-4 days, with full healing taking several weeks. The long-term benefits of wisdom tooth extractions go beyond just alleviating pain. By removing impacted or problem teeth, you can prevent infection, crowding, or misalignment of other teeth, leading to better oral health in the future. Root Canal Surgery When the pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth) becomes infected due to deep decay or trauma, a root canal procedure may be necessary. Although often misunderstood as painful, modern root canal surgery is no more uncomfortable than having a routine filling. In fact, the procedure is vital for saving a tooth that might otherwise require extraction. What to Expect: Before the procedure, the dentist will use local anesthesia to numb the area. The oral surgeon will then access the infected pulp, clean out the infection, and fill the space with a biocompatible material to prevent future infection. In most cases, a crown is placed on the tooth afterward to restore its strength and appearance. The recovery time is relatively quick, with many patients experiencing minimal discomfort. For a few days, you may need to stick to soft foods and avoid chewing on the treated tooth. Root canal surgery not only saves a tooth but also prevents more serious health problems, such as abscesses, bone loss, or the spread of infection to other parts of the body. Corrective Jaw Surgery Sometimes, the need for oral surgery goes beyond cavities and wisdom teeth. Corrective jaw surgery, also known as orthognathic surgery, is used to fix structural issues with the jaw. This procedure is often recommended for patients with severe bite problems, jaw alignment issues, or difficulty chewing, speaking, or breathing. What to Expect: Before surgery, the oral surgeon will conduct a thorough evaluation, including diagnostic imaging, to understand the extent of the issue. As Dr. Roland Zhuka, an oral surgeon in Albania, notes, “Before any complex dental procedure, a qualified oral surgeon evaluates the patient with diagnostic imaging and customizes a treatment plan ensuring tailored care and the best outcome.” This ensures that the procedure is suited to the patient’s unique needs. The surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia, and the surgeon will reposition the jawbone to correct alignment. After the procedure, patients usually need to follow a soft food diet for a few weeks and may experience swelling or bruising. Full recovery can take several months, but the results are life-changing. Patients often experience improved function, speech, and appearance, leading to a better quality of life. Other Common Oral Surgery Procedures Aside from wisdom tooth extractions, root canals, and corrective jaw surgery, tother common oral surgery procedures are frequently performed: Dental Implants:  When a tooth is lost or severely damaged, dental implants provide a permanent solution. The procedure involves placing a titanium post into the jawbone, which acts as a foundation for a crown or bridge. Over time, the bone integrates with the implant, creating a stable and natural-looking replacement tooth. Bone Grafting:  For patients who have lost bone mass due to injury or infection, bone grafting can rebuild the jawbone, often as a precursor to dental implants. Gum Surgery:  In some cases, oral surgery is required to treat gum disease or to reshape the gums for aesthetic purposes. Gum grafting, for instance, can help correct receding gums. Final Thoughts While many people associate oral surgery with cosmetic enhancements, it’s important to remember that these procedures often serve a larger purpose: improving overall health. “More awareness is crucial,” says Robert MacArthur, DMD, a dentist at the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. “The more awareness we have, the more likely we can break down barriers to care, provide more inclusive care, and create a more trusting environment.”  Whether you’re undergoing a simple wisdom tooth extraction or a more complex corrective jaw surgery, understanding what to expect can help alleviate anxiety and prepare you for a smooth recovery process. Your smile is an important part of your health, and oral surgery is just one of the ways you can ensure it stays in top condition for years to come. By ML Staff

Specializing in professional teeth whitening with its signature in-office whitening procedure , BriteSmile has built a strong reputation for delivering bright, radiant smiles quickly and effectively. While BriteSmile excels in its niche of whitening, it lacks the broad range of services offered by other practices on this list. However, for those seeking fast, effective whitening treatments that deliver impressive results, BriteSmile remains a popular choice among patients looking to refresh their smiles. 5. • Small Changes, Big Results: Self-Investments That Boost Confidence and Career Success

Self-investment is one of the most powerful ways to enhance your confidence, improve your well-being, and boost your career success. When you prioritize your personal growth, it not only transforms your life but can also lead to greater opportunities in both your personal and professional spheres. In this article, we explore several effective self-investments that can help you feel more confident, motivated, and ready to seize new opportunities.  1. Prioritize Your Physical and Mental Health The foundation of confidence and success starts with taking care of your body and mind. When you feel good physically, it shows in every area of your life. Likewise, mental health is equally important. Investing in your health doesn't necessarily mean expensive gym memberships or personal trainers. It can be as simple as incorporating small changes into your routine. Start with regular exercise. Even if it’s just a 15-minute walk a few times a week, regular physical activity can improve your mood, energy, and overall health. A balanced diet rich in nutrients is another great investment. Proper nutrition supports cognitive function, boosts energy levels, and helps maintain physical appearance, all of which are linked to increased self-esteem. Taking care of your mental health is just as critical. Meditation, mindfulness practices, and regular breaks can dramatically improve your mental clarity and emotional well-being. 2. Invest in Your Smile and Personal Appearance One of the most overlooked yet highly effective self-investments is enhancing your smile and personal appearance. Smiling is one of the easiest and most immediate ways to convey confidence, and it can instantly make a lasting impression.  However, if you're self-conscious about your teeth or smile, it can be hard to feel your best. That's where cosmetic dental treatments such as Invisalign or smile restoration come in. Many professionals have found that investing in Invisalign or cosmetic dental work from experts such as placervilledentistry.com/  can lead to a major boost in self-esteem. Clear aligners offer a discreet and effective way to straighten your teeth, making a life-changing difference for individuals who have avoided traditional braces due to aesthetic concerns. Similarly, smile restoration can correct dental issues such as chipped teeth, discoloration, or misalignment, giving you a smile you can confidently share with the world.  3. Develop New Skills and Knowledge Investing in your education and skill development is another powerful way to build confidence and enhance your career. The world is constantly changing, and keeping your skills up to date is essential to staying competitive in the job market. Whether it’s learning a new language, mastering a new software, or becoming an expert in your field, expanding your knowledge will help you feel more confident in your abilities. Online courses, certifications, workshops, and webinars are great ways to continue learning while balancing a busy professional life. Look for opportunities that align with your career goals, and commit to personal growth in areas that will set you apart. Not only will learning new skills help boost your confidence, but it will also position you as a leader and expert in your field. Additionally, developing emotional intelligence (EQ) is a key investment for success. By learning to understand and manage your emotions, as well as empathize with others, you will become a more effective communicator and team member.  4. Upgrade Your Wardrobe The way you present yourself to the world directly affects how others perceive you and how you perceive yourself. Investing in a wardrobe that reflects your professional goals and personal style can significantly boost your confidence. Clothes that make you feel good and fit properly can give you a boost. It’s not necessary to overhaul your entire wardrobe overnight. Instead, focus on building a few timeless, high-quality pieces that you can mix and match for different occasions. A well-fitted suit, a pair of comfortable yet stylish shoes, or even a standout accessory can help you feel polished and put together. When you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you're more likely to approach challenges with confidence and poise. 5. Build Stronger Relationships and Networking Opportunities No matter how skilled or talented you are, your career success will always be influenced by the relationships you build with others. Networking and cultivating meaningful professional relationships can open doors to opportunities that may not be available through traditional job-searching methods. Invest in networking both online and in person. Attend industry events, engage with peers on LinkedIn, and participate in local business groups. The more people you connect with, the more likely you are to hear about career opportunities or mentorship possibilities. Additionally, don't underestimate the power of personal relationships. Mentors, colleagues, and even friends can provide valuable advice, emotional support, and career guidance. 6. Prioritize Time Management and Productivity Time is one of the most valuable resources we have, and how we manage it directly impacts our ability to succeed. Investing in time management tools, strategies, and systems can help you stay organized, increase your productivity, and reduce stress. One of the best ways to manage your time effectively is to set clear goals and break them down into smaller, actionable tasks. Utilize digital tools like calendars, project management apps, and productivity trackers to help stay on top of deadlines and meetings. Another valuable strategy is to prioritize tasks by importance rather than by urgency. By focusing on what matters most, you'll make more meaningful progress toward your goals. 7. Embrace Work-Life Balance A healthy work-life balance is essential for long-term success. While hard work is important, overworking can lead to burnout, reduced productivity, and poor health. Investing in your work-life balance by taking regular breaks, setting boundaries, and engaging in activities that you enjoy can help refresh your mind and keep you motivated. Taking time off to recharge allows you to return to your work with a clearer perspective and renewed energy, ultimately improving your performance.  Conclusion Investing in yourself is one of the best decisions you can make for your confidence and career. Whether it's enhancing your appearance, expanding your skills, or prioritizing your health, these small changes can add up to big results. As you begin to invest in yourself, you'll notice improvements in how you feel, how you perform, and how others perceive you. Remember, success doesn’t come from a single investment, but from a consistent commitment to growth. Start with one small change today, and watch as it transforms your life over time. By ML Staff

  • Preventive Maintenance Guide for Smarter Facility Upkeep

Creating and executing a robust maintenance plan is crucial for any organization seeking to minimize downtime, prolong equipment lifespan, and manage operational expenses. Although numerous companies recognize the significance of maintenance, not all possess a defined process that yields reliable outcomes. This preventive maintenance guide  outlines straightforward steps, useful insights, and effective strategies that assist teams in shifting from reactive repairs to a proactive, cost-saving maintenance approach. Adhering to these principles enables organizations to optimize operations and enhance long-term asset performance while remaining in line with industry standards. Why Preventive Maintenance Matters More Than Ever Today's competitive climate necessitates operational consistency and efficiency. Unplanned downtime can be exceedingly costly for anyone who manages production lines, buildings, fleets, or utilities. A reactive strategy generally leads to more frequent breakdowns, higher repair costs, and needless safety hazards. Preventive maintenance, on the other hand, focuses on scheduled servicing tasks that are aimed at detecting problems early on, before they progress to failure.  Preventive maintenance additionally leads to improved asset health. Regular inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements ensure equipment operates efficiently, which in turn increases longevity and lowers overall ownership costs. Sectors like manufacturing, energy, automotive, and healthcare depend significantly on preventive initiatives to uphold compliance, maximize resources, and secure continuous service. The objective is to ensure consistent operations where maintenance tasks are scheduled rather than unforeseen surprises. Key Components of an Effective Preventive Maintenance Program Building an effective preventive maintenance plan entails more than just checking off a checklist; it involves careful planning, consistent implementation, and ongoing refinement. The process begins with creating a complete asset inventory that includes important information such as model numbers, serial numbers, installation dates, warranty information, and service history. This inventory provides a solid foundation for planning and lets you know which assets require the most attention. Assessing asset criticality allows teams to prioritize maintenance tasks by weighing considerations such as safety impact, downtime cost, production necessity, and regulatory requirements. Once assets have been prioritized, companies must develop clearly defined maintenance activities and timelines. Inspections, lubrication, calibrations, filter changes, and performance checks may all be performed in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, usage patterns, and historical data. Standardized work orders and checklists provide consistency by outlining instructions, required tools, safety precautions, and projected time requirements. Digital checklists improve accuracy and efficiency in documentation, especially when combined with qualified, professional workers who understand equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safety standards. Ultimately, precise record-keeping is essential for maintaining an efficient preventive maintenance program. Thorough digital documentation simplifies the tracking of maintenance tasks, recognizing patterns, preparing for inspections, and strategizing future enhancements. This data-oriented strategy aids teams in identifying when schedules should be modified, parts need replacing, or old assets should be phased out. Collectively, these components form a preventive maintenance system that enhances reliability, minimizes downtime, and fosters enduring operational success. How Technology Enhances Preventive Maintenance Efficiency Modern maintenance teams increasingly rely on technology to streamline workflows and reduce human error. A CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is one of the most powerful tools for preventive maintenance programs. It centralizes asset information, automates scheduling, assigns work orders, and provides real-time visibility into maintenance activities. With a CMMS, teams no longer rely on paper checklists or manual tracking. Automated reminders ensure tasks are completed on time, while mobile accessibility allows technicians to update work orders directly from the field. Predictive insights derived from sensor data and IoT devices offer even greater accuracy, enabling maintenance teams to address issues before equipment performance declines. A CMMS also improves resource planning. Managers can track spare parts, plan budgets, monitor technician productivity, and forecast future maintenance needs. These capabilities make preventive maintenance more efficient, cost-effective, and scalable for growing organizations. Tips for Improving Your Preventive Maintenance Strategy A preventive program should evolve as equipment ages, production needs shift, or new technology becomes available. Here are a few best practices to strengthen your strategy: Regularly review asset performance data to identify recurring failures or inefficiencies. Update maintenance schedules based on real-world usage rather than fixed intervals alone. Encourage communication between technicians, supervisors, and operations teams. Leverage mobile tools and automation to reduce paperwork and improve accuracy. Prioritize safety protocols and ensure every maintenance task includes proper safety checks. Evaluate ROI metrics , such as downtime reduction, cost savings, and extended asset lifespan. By continuously refining your approach, you can ensure your preventive maintenance program remains effective and aligned with organizational goals. Conclusion Reducing downtime, enhancing asset reliability, and promoting safer operations all depend on a well-thought-out preventive maintenance program. Organizations may transition from reactive fixes to proactive, predictable maintenance with a solid plan, correct data, and the appropriate technologies, such as a powerful CMMS. You'll be better able to develop a maintenance model that promotes reliable performance, long-term savings, and operational excellence if you adhere to the techniques described in this preventive maintenance guide. A successful program also enables teams to detect minor problems before they become more serious, distribute resources more effectively, and uphold industry standards. Organizations eventually gain from increased worker productivity, fewer emergency repairs, and more accurate budgeting. Businesses may create a maintenance culture that is more resilient, dependable, and prepared for the future when preventative maintenance is integrated into everyday operations. By ML Staff. • Is Online Gambling Legal in Miami? Understanding Florida Gambling Laws

Miami is a hot spot for entertainment in the state of Florida. Travelers visit the area for beach fun, dining, nightlife, and additional activities. Most gamblers expect gaming options to be available in Miami, with casinos and card rooms open for business.  Image by Alberto GV PHOTOGRAP / Adobestock If you are planning a trip to the area and want to explore gambling games, it’s essential you learn more about gambling laws in Florida. Gambling is legal but limited. If you are focused on online gambling, it’s equally important to know more about your options. Review more details on gambling services below, including information on laws and regulations.  Florida Gambling Laws  Gambling and sports betting are legal in Florida based on specific laws. You can access casino gaming at tribal venues, state lottery games, pari-mutuel wagering on horses, poker card rooms, sports betting, and social gaming. The sweepstakes social gaming sites are the only way to explore online casinos in Florida . The state is also home to daily fantasy sports.  Age Limits for Gaming Include:  21 and older for casino games.  Lottery, bingo, and pari-mutuel betting have an 18+ limit.  Social casino sweepstakes sites should also have an 18+ limit.  Miami's hot spots for physical gaming include Hialeah Park Racing, which offers thoroughbred and quarter-horse racing. Magic City Casino, located in downtown Miami, offers over 1,000 Las Vegas-style slot machines, poker tables, and seasonal Jai-Alai options.  You can also visit Calder Casino & Race Course, a more upscale gaming venue. Visitors to Calder can explore a huge 100,000-square-foot gaming floor with over 1,000 slot machines, video poker, and electronic table games.  Image by Riyad / Adobestock Online Gambling Alternative  Regarding real money gambling, Florida does not allow players to access online casino games. You won’t find big names like BetMGM or Caesars offering real money iGaming services with slots and table games.  Instead, players can utilize a loophole in legislation allowing sweepstakes sites to provide services. Sweepstakes gaming laws allow iGaming via virtual currency like Gold and Sweeps Coins. Players in locations like Miami can create a new account with a sweepstakes provider and play similar slot and table games.  The reason sweepstakes sites differ from real money sites is the money element. Online casinos require players to deposit funds to play. Sweepstakes sites have a no-purchase necessary policy. You can join for free and use Gold and Sweeps Coins to play any game.  How Sweeps Sites Work  Once you join a sweepstakes online casino site, you must understand how the virtual currency works. Gold Coins are freeplay only and do not provide any prize from wins. Using the Sweeps Coins, you can redeem played SCs for prizes.  Sites can offer gift cards for SC redemption and real prizes via bank transfer. Each site is different, so reviewing the fine print and understanding its features is essential before creating a new player account.  Sweepstakes gaming is a legal gray area, and we may see action taken against such services in the future. However, players can now easily access online gaming  sites and explore casino-like play at no cost.  Image by cunaplus / Adobestock Online Sports Betting  One exception to the iGaming legislation in Florida is sports betting. After several legal proceedings, online sports betting was allowed to launch services. The only operator currently is Hard Rock Bet, connected to the Seminole Tribe of Florida.  The main issues behind online gaming generally stem from tribal compacts in the state. The Seminole Tribe wants exclusive rights to gaming operations, while commercial operators also want in. So far, no common ground has been found to allow real-money iGaming from any entities except for Hard Rock Bet and its sports betting services.  Looking ahead, experts believe Florida will legalize casino apps in the future. How soon is anyone’s guess? Florida and the Seminole Tribe continue to work together and offer quality gaming options, so it’s only a matter of time before another expansion is made to the existing compact to feature additional options like online casino games.  Sports betting may also increase, with additional operators added in the future. However, this will also be contingent on the compact, so it may take some time before any other services are allowed.  By ML Staff. Images courtesy of Adobestock

  • Schoelkopf Gallery to Show Rare Romare Bearden Watercolors at Art Basel Miami Beach Booth G5

Schoelkopf Gallery from New York, will return to Art Basel Miami Beach this December (Booth G5) with a landmark exhibition of American art. The show, timed ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026, traces the evolution of American Modernism from the early 20th century through the postwar era. Frank Bowling’s Killclay (2013) is an acrylic and acrylic gel painting on collaged canvas with marouflage, measuring 28¼ × 30 inches (71.8 × 76.2 cm), and is signed, dated, and inscribed with the title on the stretcher. At the heart of the presentation is a rare watercolor suite by Romare Bearden, offering a reinterpretation of The Odyssey that explores themes of African American identity, mythology, and cultural transformation. The booth will also feature works by influential artists such as Mary Abbott, John Marin, Frank Bowling, Ed Clark, Sam Gilliam, Beauford Delaney — alongside major paintings by Andrew Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth that have never before been shown publicly. The exhibition underscores Schoelkopf Gallery’s commitment to elevating American art and promoting its key figures on a global stage.
