- Nonprofit Executive Alliance Expands into Miami-Dade & Monroe Counties
The Nonprofit Executive Alliance of Broward has announced its new name, Nonprofit Executive Alliance and in partnership with PhilanthropyMiami, is expanding its impact to serve Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Nonprofit CEOs in all three counties will come together in an effort to foster regionalism in the sector. What began as a small but influential group of local nonprofit CEOs who recognized the importance and value of working together to solve big problems has blossomed into a coalition of more than 120 nonprofit CEOs that touch every corner of Broward and beyond, addressing every economic, social and health issue. The Nonprofit Executive Alliance is a social impact coalition of CEOs that advance leadership, strengthen local communities and provide a unified voice for the sector. The expansion of impact and engagement into Miami-Dade and Monroe counties has come as a result of over a year of due diligence and an overwhelming need to better discuss, analyze and address these issues from a regional point of view. Powered by a 27-year legacy as a leading convener of the nonprofit community, PhilanthropyMiami will serve as the anchor for the expanded footprint, as the organization collectively establishes a new strategic ecosystem for the system of care and support that so many residents and businesses rely on daily. This broader, regional alliance of leaders means more awareness of the essential role that nonprofits play in the community. While always a relevant part of the society, the pandemic magnified the role of the sector as the need for nonprofit services soared, yet donations declined due to social and economic uncertainty. “If the last three years have taught us anything, it’s the resiliency and importance of the nonprofit sector and its ability to step up and show up for the community. With a growing membership of nonprofit CEOs that touch every aspect of the health and human service continuum, the value of this organization to our members and the community at large is immeasurable. We look forward to expanding our footprint and supporting our nonprofit ecosystem on a regional level,” said Executive Director, Sandra Veszi Einhorn. The Alliance is positioned to harness the power of collective impact, innovation and rapidly changing times to have a deeper and broader influence on the issue that affect the community. By providing a place for nonprofit CEOs to network, gain industry knowledge and better connect with stakeholders across county lines, CEOs can be more effective at making a difference. This targeted regional effort will also seek to amplify how the Alliance engages business and government leaders in service through volunteerism, philanthropy and organizational leadership. “The Nonprofit Executive Alliance and PhilanthropyMiami are founded by the common principle that we can best address the complex issues facing our communities by combining our strengths, resources and experiences. It is incumbent upon us to collaborate with other nonprofit, for-profit, and government entities,” said Fernanda K. Jorgensen, Executive Director of PhilanthropyMiami. - Loxen Productions' Young Frankenstein at the ARTime Theater in Little Havana
It was a weekend full of unrestrained laughter, cheers, and standing ovations for the all-South Florida cast of Loxen Productions’ Young Frankenstein at the ARTime Theater in Little Havana. The Mel Brooks’ classic musical comedy, which runs until October 29th, was an enchanting blend of slapstick humor, uplifting singing and dancing, brilliant performances, and stunning stagecraft. “I absolutely loved it,” said theater goer Ashleigh Eckhoff. “I am a huge fan of the movie with Gene Wilder and came in with some reservations, hoping not to be disappointed. Instead, I was mesmerized. It was outstanding. The cast and production were sensational. We laughed from beginning to end. I’m totally recommending it to friends and will be back with them to watch it again.” “I couldn’t stop laughing,” added Daniela Salazar, who attended the opening night performance. “The chemistry onstage was contagious. You could sense how much they liked each other and the fun they were having. It made everyone in the audience feel part of the show. Frankenstein and Igor were hilarious. Actually, so was the Monster and everyone else. I fell in love with the cast. My friends and I had a blast. This was definitely worth coming to, as we get into the Halloween spirit.” On the heels of their recent successes with Cabaret and Little Shop of Horrors, Loxen Productions ventured into the brilliant and wacky mind of Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein for their latest production. This hilarious masterpiece invites you to embark on a journey to Transylvania with the eccentric Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, who wishes to be called “Fronk-en-steen” to distance himself from his infamous grandfather of Frankenstein-the-Monster fame. Frederick inherits his family's estate and, after discovering his grandfather’s laboratory gets entangled in a wild experiment with his sidekicks, Igor (pronounced Eye-gore), and Inga, to bring a new creature back to life, unleashing a chain of comical mishaps that left the audiences – and the Monster - in stitches. Benjamin Leon IV, the visionary driving force behind Loxen Productions, aims to redefine Miami's cultural landscape by bringing the city's untapped talent to the forefront. “Our goal is to raise the bar of live entertainment in Miami by harnessing the potential of local performers and advancing the growth of the entire art scene in South Florida,” said Leon IV, who plays Frederick Frankenstein. “We knew Young Frankenstein would be a hit. It’s a timeless classic. Showcasing par excellence works like this ensures that our community doesn’t have to travel beyond our borders in search of top-tier theater productions.” The trailblazing actor, producer, and director, created Loxen in 2018 with the intention of catapulting the arts in South Florida. Since then, the company has evolved into a major player in cultivating local arts in all of its forms, from theater to music, from painting to sculpture, from film to photography, and everything in between. Aside from Leon IV playing Dr. Frederick, the cast of Young Frankenstein includes Corey Vega (Igor), Sara Álvarez (Inga), Irene González (Frau Blücher), Emily Howard (Elizabeth), Javier Cabrera (Monster), Ryan Crout (Inspector Kemp), Amanda López, Shelby Tudor, Sabrina Leon, Natalie Patino, Brittni Taylor Rhodes, Fabiana Cueto Lito Becerra, Sergio Tamayo, Gianfranco Imbert, Justin Rodríguez, Mikhael Mendoza and Chris Atzanos, all under the experienced direction of Gonzalo Rodríguez. Musical direction is by Johann Guzman; set design by Nobarte Inc., lighting design by Ernesto Pinto and costume design by Beth Fath. “We have an amazingly talented cast that performed spectacularly this weekend,” said director Gonzalo Rodriguez. “I couldn’t have asked for more. And, the audiences were electrified, to use a reference to the show! As performers and the production crew, we feed off of the audience’s energy and they were so into all the shows that it created amazing synergy. We had as much fun, if not more than they did. We can’t wait until our next performance.” Performances of Young Frankenstein are scheduled from Friday, October 13th to Sunday, October 29th. Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 PM, and matinees on Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 PM at the ARTime Theatre, 900 SW 1 St., Miami, Fl. 33130. Ticket prices range from $25 to $75, and they are available for purchase exclusively at: www.YoungFrankensteinMiami.com. Group rates and student discounts are available. In the spirit of Halloween, Loxen Productions is organizing a costume contest during the final weekend of Young Frankenstein. Audiences are encouraged to dress in their spookiest attire, adding to the excitement of the theater experience. The contest winner will earn a coveted opportunity to take the stage in the final performance of the show on October 29th. More on Loxen Productions: Loxen Productions is a trailblazing theater company dedicated to showcasing the exceptional talents of South Florida's local artists. Under the visionary leadership of Benjamin Leon IV, the company serves as a beacon for artistic brilliance, fostering Miami's cultural renaissance and uniting audiences with the soul of the city's creative tapestry. www.loxenproductions.com By ML Staff. - Ace Your Lifestyle with Pickleball-Ready South Florida Condo Developments
If you haven’t already heard, pickleball is quickly becoming the sport of choice for many Floridians thanks to its affordability, versatility, and appeal to players of all ages and athletic backgrounds. Like tennis, golf, and countless other outdoor sports and recreational activities, pickleball can be a great way to get your daily exercise in, and it’s quickly becoming a must-have amenity for condo buyers up in Palm Beach County and all throughout the surrounding South Florida area. Even closer to home in Miami, we’re seeing more condo developments and residential communities installing pickleball courts, and given the sport’s massive spike in popularity, it’s a trend that is sure to continue in the coming years. So whether you’re searching for Palm Beach County condos with pickleball courts or luxury condo buildings that are a bit closer to Miami’s city center, here’s a closer look at just several South Florida condo developments with easy and direct access to the hottest sport going right now. Towers of Quayside 1000 Quayside Terrace, Miami, FL 33138 Spanning 33 acres, the resort-style condo complex known as the Towers of Quayside is largely defined by its premium lifestyle amenities, which not only include tennis, racquetball, and pickleball courts but also multiple swimming pools, a restaurant and bar, and access to an incredible exercise facility that also offers regular fitness classes. Inside, many condos at the Towers of Quayside offer premium water views, and most units are also updated and outfitted with high-end interior finishes that range from modern kitchens to spa-quality bathrooms. Grove Hill 2645 S. Bayshore Drive, Coconut Grove, FL 33133 If you’re looking for quaint, small-town charm just outside the lively and vibrant setting that is downtown Miami, you’ll definitely find it in Coconut Grove. It’s also in Coconut Grove that you’ll find Grove Hill Tower, a chic, 21-story condo building with just 77 magnificent condominium residences. With only 4 units per floor, Grove Hill condos provide just a little extra privacy and exclusivity than your typical South Florida high-rise, which is probably why you don’t see units hit the market here often. The collection of premium lifestyle amenities at Grove Hill also makes this building appealing to luxury condo buyers and includes 24-hour security, an on-site dog park, tennis and pickleball courts, a lap pool, and a full-size fitness center with a sauna. Mediterranean Village 3500 Island Boulevard, Aventura, FL 33160 If there’s a more “Florida-esque” condo community than Aventura’s Mediterranean Village, we don’t know about it. This aptly named development features three separate 5-story buildings that feature classic Mediterranean architecture, not to mention a wealth of appeal and desirability. From towering, mature palm trees to lush landscaping found all throughout the community grounds, Mediterranean Village provides condo buyers with the ultimate tropical setting. Floor plans throughout the buildings are also relatively flexible and offer anywhere from 2 to 4 bedrooms and up to 4,339 square feet, ensuring space won’t be an issue if you find a place on the higher end of that range. As for amenities at the complex, condo owners enjoy 24-hour valet service, 24-hour security, on-site management, a heated swimming pool with a massive sunbathing area, an on-site restaurant and deli, and yes—pickleball courts as well. One Paraiso 3131 NE 7th Ave, Miami, FL 33137 Many consider One Paraiso to be among Miami’s premier residential towers, and we’re inclined to agree thanks to the amazing views and luxury interiors nearly every single unit in the building features. Floor-to-ceiling windows, private balconies, and thoughtfully designed layouts that take advantage of said views highlight individual unit features, and the resort-style amenities that range from a state-of-the-art fitness center to a swimming pool and beach club also help elevate the standard of living at Miami’s one-and-only One Paraiso. And because it’s a newer construction building, the pickleball courts here are also in about as good of shape as you’ll find, making it the go-to building for luxury condo buyers who truly love playing.
