  • From DC to the Runways of New York, Mahogany Coast Swim Is Making Its Mark

Mahogany Coast Swim, the luxury one-piece swimwear brand founded by designer Bianca Stacey, made its Miami Swim Week debut in June 2024. One of the most prestigious stages in the global swimwear calendar, Miami Swim Week served as the perfect backdrop for a brand that had been quietly building something exceptional: a collection rooted in quality craftsmanship, confident design, and a singular dedication to making women feel extraordinary at the water's edge. The Miami showing introduced a wider audience to the Mahogany Coast aesthetic; sleek, body-conscious silhouettes with a glamorous edge, constructed from Italian-sourced fabric engineered to perform as beautifully as it looks. Press, buyers, and fashion insiders gathered to see Stacey's vision come to life on the runway, and the reception was everything the brand had worked toward. Mahogany Coast Swim didn't just show at Miami Swim Week, it arrived. Building on that momentum, the brand went on to make its New York Fashion Week debut in September 2024, before returning to the NYFW runway a second time in February 2025, a remarkable trajectory for an independent, woman-owned label in such a short span of time. At the core of every Mahogany Coast piece is a refusal to compromise. The brand's fabric is sourced from Italy and rigorously tested for durability and colorfastness, with every suit engineered to be chlorine-resistant, saltwater-resistant, and UV-protective. This is swimwear built to last, holding its shape, structure, and vibrancy through season after season of sun, salt, and sea. The collection celebrates the one-piece swimsuit as a true fashion statement. High-cut legs, sweetheart necklines, architectural hardware, and carefully placed cut-outs give each style its own distinct personality while sharing the brand's signature confidence-forward aesthetic. Signature styles like the Flirt, the Desire, the Amour, the Love Bomb and the Bae Watch span a palette of rich, deliberate colorways: luminous Swan, deep Midnight, bold Valentine Red, romantic Lilac, soft Blush, and the show-stopping shimmer finishes Luster (black) and Flare (gold). Each color is chosen to celebrate a range of skin tones and to photograph beautifully in any light. Bianca, who holds a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University and studied fashion and fabric construction at Parsons School of Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, brings a rigorous academic foundation to a deeply personal creative vision. Her goal from the beginning has been straightforward: to reimagine the one-piece swimsuit as something fashionable, functional, and worthy of every woman who wears it. • Why More American Residents Are Combining Dental Care with International Travel

Healthcare is getting costly in the United States. As a result, many Americans are forced to make painful decisions about their health, including sometimes foregoing preventive care in order to save money. This is why the idea of seeking affordable dental care services overseas is appealing to thousands of Americans, who are combining it with their vacations and turning the experience into something more beautiful. Dental tourism is not only helping Americans save on dental treatments; it's also helping them maximize their time. This trend is particularly popular in countries like Turkey, Mexico, Costa Rica, India, and Thailand. Let’s explore the top five reasons why more Americans are combining dental care with international travel. Save on Costs Saving on costs is probably the most significant reason why people prefer going for dental treatments overseas. While American dental providers provide exceptional services, you can get the same services abroad at a fraction of the cost here. Complex dental procedures like dental implants can be quite expensive in the United States, which is why a lot of people look into dental implant procedures in Turkey. Even after paying for accommodation and flights, you can still save money compared to getting the same procedure done in the U.S. Why pay more when you can get the same world-class dental treatment and recover on a beach? World-Class Dentists and Advanced Technology You are probably thinking that ‘cheaper means lower quality.’ However, that’s not always the case. Some of the dentists abroad in countries like Turkey, Mexico, India, and other countries are the best in the business. Most have trained in the top universities in the world, including universities in the United States. Additionally, reputable dental practices in these countries use the latest dental technology for precise, painless dental procedures. Whether you want dental implants, invisalign, teeth whitening, veneers, or a full smile makeover, you will find dentists overseas who know what they are doing. Combine Treatment with a Vacation One of the biggest appeals of dental tourism is the ability to recover while enjoying your holiday. Instead of taking time off only for dental appointments, you can combine dental care with time to explore, relax, and recover in a new environment. The whole experience feels more like a planned vacation than a stressful obligation. It turns an otherwise stressful situation into an enjoyable experience. Faster Scheduling In most cases, dental clinics overseas offer faster appointment availability. This is especially crucial if you do not want to wait months for a dental procedure. In the United States, waiting times can stretch for months. In contrast, dental clinics overseas can offer appointments within days. This makes it easier for you to receive timely dental care and plan your vacation. All Dental Services Are Available From dental implants, Invisalign, to teeth whitening, overseas dental clinics have it all. Whether you need a major dental operation or a minor procedure, you will find highly qualified dentists ready to help. Some overseas dental clinics even specialize in quick treatments, so you can get your smile fixed and have time to enjoy your vacation. Endnote Dental tourism is becoming popular in the United States, mainly due to affordable dental treatment and high-quality dental services in developing countries. You also get fast appointments and a chance to combine your treatment with a vacation. By ML Staff. Image courtesy of Pexels

  • Staying Warm in the Water: A Guide to Cold-Water Gear for Water Sports

Image by DepositPhotos Water sports in cold conditions require a different approach to gear than warm-weather sessions. Water draws heat from the body significantly faster than air — at a rate roughly 25 times higher — which means that what you wear in cold water directly affects not just comfort but safety and performance. Building the right layering system for cold-water sessions, starting from the extremities and working inward, is what allows surfers, kitesurfers, windsurfers, and divers to extend their seasons and enjoy the water comfortably in conditions that would otherwise be limiting. Why Cold Feet Affect Everything Foot and hand warmth are disproportionately important in water sports. Cold extremities don't just cause discomfort — they impair dexterity, affect board feel and control, and accelerate the rate at which the core loses heat through constricted circulation. Most experienced cold-water athletes will tell you that keeping the feet warm changes the entire experience of a session. The threshold where neoprene boots become necessary varies by water temperature and individual tolerance, but most athletes find that water below about 60°F warrants foot protection — and in colder conditions, the right thickness and fit becomes critical. Choosing the Right Wetsuit Boots Neoprene thickness for wetsuit boots typically ranges from 2mm for mild conditions to 7mm for very cold water. Thicker neoprene provides more insulation but reduces flexibility and board feel — so matching thickness to actual water temperature rather than defaulting to the warmest available option produces better performance. Sole construction matters significantly for different sports. Surfing and kitesurfing boots benefit from stiffer, more protective soles for board handling. Water sports involving walking on rocks or reef demand more aggressive sole traction and durability. The right boot is sport-specific, not just temperature-specific. Image by DepositPhotos Wetsuit Selection and Thickness Guidelines The wetsuit is the primary insulation layer for most water sports. Neoprene thickness is matched to water temperature: 3/2mm suits (3mm body, 2mm arms) for water in the mid-60s°F range; 4/3mm suits for lower 60s; 5/4mm or 6/5mm for water in the 50s; and 7mm or drysuit territory for anything colder. Fit is as important as thickness. A wetsuit that allows water to flush freely through the suit — because it's too large, because seams are compromised, or because the neck and wrist seals are loose — loses thermal efficiency rapidly. A well-fitting wetsuit maintains a thin layer of water against the skin that your body heats and retains. Gloves and Hoods In conditions below 55°F, gloves and hoods become important for extended sessions. Neoprene gloves allow hand function while providing meaningful insulation — typically 2mm to 5mm depending on temperature. Hoods protect the head and neck, which are significant heat-loss areas, and some wetsuits integrate hoods for seamless coverage. The challenge with gloves is balancing insulation against dexterity. Thicker gloves are warmer but reduce the fine motor control needed for sail handling, kite control, or surfboard paddling. Athletes often experiment with the thinnest gloves that keep hands functional for their specific activity. Pre- and Post-Session Warmth Changing conditions before and after sessions are part of the cold-water experience. Changing in a cold parking lot or beach adds discomfort and can rapidly cool a body that's just warmed up during a session. Changing ponchos or dry robes have become standard gear for serious cold-water athletes — simple solutions that make a meaningful difference in the overall experience. Thermos of warm water to pour into the suit just before paddling out is a longtime cold-water surfer trick — particularly effective for warming the feet. Small practical habits like this compound across a season to make cold-water sessions significantly more enjoyable. Wrapping Up Cold-water water sports are entirely accessible with the right gear — and the difference between the right gear and the wrong gear is the difference between a comfortable, productive session and a miserable one. Starting with quality boots and a well-fitted wetsuit at the appropriate thickness is the foundation everything else builds on. Image by DepositPhotos Frequently Asked Questions How do I know what thickness wetsuit boot I need? Match boot thickness to water temperature: 3mm for water in the mid-50s to low-60s°F range, 5mm for mid-40s to 50s, 7mm for the coldest conditions. When in doubt, err slightly warmer — it's easier to manage mild warmth than numb feet. How do I care for neoprene gear to make it last? Rinse thoroughly with fresh water after every session, avoid leaving in direct sunlight for extended periods, dry in shade away from heat sources, and store flat or hanging — not folded, which creates creases that can compromise the neoprene over time. • Omni Beach Life Transformed Miami Swim Week into Carnaval

@viviansaddi, @evgeniahoth, @dafxbau / photographer: @memok3 The Brazilian-American brand based in Miami, together with models, brand ambassadors, content creators and partners in sustainability from around the world, turned Miami Swim Week into a weeklong celebration of the pure joy and natural beauty of the Brazilian beach lifestyle, Brazilian beach fashion, ocean conservation, togetherness and admiration for the artists and guests who make Swim Week possible. @evgeniahoth / photographer: @alvaromoser OBL Designer and owner, Dean Richards, says “It’s not just a show for us. MSW is a week-long self-expression of love, brand values, fearless freedom, artistic creation and our united vision to Save Our Planet, One Bikini at a Time.” @pieri.camacho / photographer: @alvaromoser Of course it starts with OBL Swimwear. As always, OBL designs are bold, fearless Brazilian designs promoting the confidence of no-judgement, unapologetic femininity. The Brazilian Rainforest Collection is produced from recycled fabrics. Each piece is extremely high quality; hand-made; and double stitched in timeless Brazilian styles; promoting conscientious consumerism as an alternative to fast-fashion. Each print is an OBL proprietary design depicting flora and fauna indigenous to the Amazon rainforest, making each bikini truly one-of-a-kind. Each design is accompanied by a matching semi-sheer sarong. @sofia.marqq / photographer: @memok3 As a long-time sponsor of 4Ocean and Ecodrive, non-profit organizations dedicated to ocean conservancy, the week began with the launch of the OBL CLEAN OCEANS PROJECT, including beach cleanups, a Sustainability Conference, and sponsoring removal of an incremental 250 pounds of waste from the ocean. As always, Omni Beach Life sponsors 4Ocean monthly, with the removal of an additional pound of waste for every bikini sold. @viviansaddi / photographer: @memok3 In between beach clean-ups, pool parties and conferences, Omni Beach Life dazzled Haute Gala guests with their unique self-expressive runway walks in styles designed to “provide coverage where she needs it; freedom where she doesn’t.” Dean explains “there is no limit to the souls moved by a fully self-empowered woman walking confidently on the beach, and that is why we walk barefoot.” For Haute Gala, Dean explained, he looked the world over to find a luxury jewelry designer to create unique pieces for the Rainforest collection; until he found Ia Esttese (Esttese Collection), in Tbilisi Georgia, who designed the exclusive OBL collection of gold body jewelry adorned with gems and matched with each of Dean’s designs. @dafxbau / photographer @memok3 The week ended with the main event; the private OBL Rooftop Fashion Show and MSW Closing Party on the La Terraza Rooftop overlooking South Beach. The 4 hour event, inspired by Rio beach parties, was an immersive, organic event that mesmerized guests. OBL Ambassadors performed multiple shows, up close and personal, interacting and engaging with guests throughout, in true Carnaval style. The Sustainability Suite at the event, where guests lounged in comfort, included, among others, OBL Sustainability Partners. Representatives from Biscayne Bay Brewing Company and Ecodrive, and world-renowned content creator Shreepad Gaonkar, who had flown in from Cannes to shadow OBL for the week discussed and advised on the direction of the OBL Clean Oceans Project. @lilypenadr / photographer @memok3 A round-table discussion was also held recognizing that models, photographers and content creators are the real artists that make MSW the spectacular event that it is. Emphasis was placed on driving industry modifications to sustain the artists and to ensure a safe environment, particularly for young female artists. dragoi_andreea / photographer @memok3 Guests, models and creators flowed in rhythm together, as guests donned OBL bikinis which they were gifted, enjoying the “Omni Beach” and “OBL Caipi” signature beverages and snacks, as friends old and new, in a truly unique fashion and Brazilian beach life experience… the Omni Beach Life way. @islatuya / photographer @zanderbrantphoto @bellafleurre / photographer @phoenixidgroup @sonia / photographer @memok3 Want to get inspired? The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida will present Invincible on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 8 p.m. at the Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The Pride concert brings together music, remembrance and community in a program centered on survival, joy and the continued strength of LGBTQ+ voices. At the center of the evening is the world premiere of Amor Eterno: A Requiem for Pulse, a newly commissioned work honoring the 49 lives lost at Pulse Nightclub on the 10th anniversary of the tragedy. The piece was composed by Saunder Choi, an award-winning composer, conductor and vocalist whose work often explores identity, memory and community through choral music. Choi’s music has been performed by ensembles across the United States and abroad, with commissions and performances spanning professional choirs, universities and community ensembles. For Invincible, his work brings a central note of reflection, remembrance and tribute to the evening. His involvement adds another layer to a program designed to move between solemn remembrance and collective celebration. Together, Amor Eterno and the broader Invincible program reflect the chorus’ mission to use music as a platform for visibility and connection. The concert looks back at lives lost and communities affected by violence, while also focusing on the generations of LGBTQ+ people who have continued to live openly, build community and create spaces of joy. For Invincible, GMCSF will be joined by the Orlando Gay Chorus, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Tampa Bay, Miami Gay Chorus and musicians from Symphony of the Americas. Together, more than 200 voices will take the stage in a program that combines choral music, dance and spoken word. The second half of the concert features anthems of resilience and Pride, including Katy Perry’s “Roar,” “Stand Up,” “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” and the title song “Invincible,” made famous by Kelly Clarkson. Together, they help shape the evening into a declaration that LGBTQ+ voices cannot be silenced. The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida has become one of the region’s leading cultural organizations, using music, advocacy and community storytelling to create visibility and connection throughout South Florida. With Invincible, the chorus continues that work through a concert that honors the past while celebrating survival, visibility and joy. • Simple Style Changes That Make You Look More Professional

Looking professional isn't always about wearing expensive clothing or following every fashion trend. In many cases, it comes down to a handful of small, intentional style choices. These details often influence first impressions, shape how others perceive your attention to detail, and contribute to an overall sense of confidence. The good news is that improving your professional appearance doesn't require a complete wardrobe overhaul. A few thoughtful adjustments can help you look more refined, organized, and put-together without sacrificing your personal style. Whether you're working in a corporate office, attending networking events, or simply want to present yourself more confidently, these simple style changes can have a noticeable impact. Prioritize Fit Over Brand Names One of the most common misconceptions about professional style is that expensive clothing automatically looks better. In reality, fit plays a far greater role in how polished an outfit appears. A well-fitting blazer, pair of trousers, or dress shirt will almost always look more professional than a poorly fitting designer item. Clothing that is too loose can appear untidy, while garments that are too tight may look uncomfortable and distracting. Pay attention to key fit details: Shirt sleeves should end at the wrist Trousers should sit comfortably at the waist Jackets should fit cleanly through the shoulders Pant lengths should complement your footwear If necessary, consider basic tailoring. Minor alterations often make a significant difference and can help even affordable clothing look more refined. Build Outfits Around Neutral Foundations Professional wardrobes benefit from versatility. One of the easiest ways to create a polished appearance is by building outfits around neutral foundation pieces. Colors such as navy, charcoal, grey, black, and white work well because they coordinate easily and create a clean, cohesive look. These shades also make it easier to introduce subtle accents without overwhelming an outfit. A navy blazer, grey trousers, and a crisp white shirt, for example, create a timeless combination suitable for many professional environments. This doesn't mean your wardrobe needs to feel repetitive. Instead, neutral foundations provide a backdrop that allows other style elements to stand out in a controlled and sophisticated way. Upgrade Your Accessories Thoughtfully Accessories offer an opportunity to express personal style without compromising professionalism. Rather than choosing flashy statement pieces, focus on items that add refinement and visual interest. A quality watch, textured tie, or understated pocket square can make a simple outfit feel more sophisticated. Likewise, socks provide an often-overlooked opportunity to elevate professional attire. Brands such as Southern Scholar have contributed to the growing appreciation for thoughtful accessories within modern menswear. Professionals seeking subtle ways to enhance their outfits can choose high-quality options like argyle socks or bright red socks, all available from Southern Scholar, to create a cohesive look that pairs effortlessly with suits and business-casual attire. The goal isn't to draw attention to individual accessories but to create an outfit where every component feels intentional. Pay Attention to the Small Details Professional style is often determined by details people subconsciously notice. Small accessories and finishing touches can elevate an otherwise simple outfit. Consider reviewing the following: Shoes Clean, well-maintained shoes immediately create a stronger impression than worn or neglected footwear. Regular polishing and proper storage can extend the life of your shoes while improving your overall appearance. Belt Coordination Your belt should generally complement your shoes. Consistency in color and material creates a more intentional look. Grooming Neat hair, maintained facial hair, and attention to personal grooming contribute just as much to professionalism as clothing choices. Accessories Watches, ties, pocket squares, and socks can add subtle personality while maintaining a polished appearance. When these details work together, they create a sense of completeness that enhances your professional image. Improve Your Layering Skills Layering is one of the simplest ways to make professional outfits look more intentional. It adds dimension while allowing greater flexibility throughout the day. Common professional layering options include: Lightweight sweaters over dress shirts Cardigans under sport coats Vests paired with tailored trousers Structured overshirts in business-casual settings The key is keeping layers streamlined. Bulky garments can create an unbalanced silhouette, while lightweight layers maintain a clean appearance. Effective layering also allows you to adapt to changing temperatures without sacrificing style. This practical benefit makes it one of the most useful wardrobe strategies for professionals. Develop a Consistent Personal Style Professionalism doesn't require dressing exactly like everyone else. In fact, developing a recognizable personal style can help you stand out positively. Consistency often matters more than trendiness. Having a clear approach to dressing creates a stronger overall impression and makes outfit planning easier. Your personal style might include: A preference for neutral color palettes Textured accessories Classic tailoring Minimalist footwear Distinctive socks or ties Southern Scholar is one example of how modern professionals are paying greater attention to smaller wardrobe elements that contribute to a cohesive appearance. These subtle style choices often communicate confidence and attention to detail without appearing overly fashion-focused. Rather than chasing trends, focus on creating a wardrobe that aligns with your professional goals and personal preferences. Choose Quality Over Quantity A professional wardrobe doesn't need to be extensive. In many cases, a smaller collection of well-made, versatile pieces performs better than a large wardrobe filled with lower-quality items. When evaluating purchases, consider: Durability Fabric quality Versatility Fit Comfort Investing in pieces that can be worn repeatedly across different situations often provides better value over time. It also simplifies daily dressing decisions and contributes to a more consistent appearance. Quality doesn't necessarily mean luxury. It simply means selecting items that perform well, fit properly, and maintain their appearance through regular wear.
