Ever noticed how the scent of lavender transports you to a tranquil field or how the citrusy notes of a summer breeze evoke memories of carefree travels? Imagine if your favorite perfume could do the same, all while aligning with your ethical values. Enter vegan perfumes – the fragrant fusion of luxury and conscience, perfect for the discerning traveler and the eco-conscious beauty lover. Image by Galina Semenko / Adobestock What Defines A Vegan Perfume? In a world rapidly shifting towards sustainable and ethical practices, vegan perfumes are making quite a splash in the fragrance world. But how exactly are they different? Well, while a traditional perfume might contain animal-derived ingredients such as musk, ambergris, beeswax, vegan perfumes are crafted using entirely plant-based and synthetic materials. This basically ensures that no animal has to be harmed in order to make you smell nice. Image by leravalera89 / Adobestock Benefits of Choosing Vegan Perfumes Vegan perfumes present many benefits including: Cruelty-Free Beauty Vegan perfumes are yet another sign that consumers are becoming more concerned with making ethical choices. Deciding to go with cruelty-free fragrances doesn’t only mean you get to treat yourself to a lavish sensory experience, but it also contributes towards making the beauty industry more compassionate. Health Advantages Many regular perfumes have the potential to contain allergens and irritants, meaning they can end up hurting sensitive skin. But vegan perfumes usually come packed with lots of natural ingredients that are dermatologically more bearable for anyone prone to allergies or just dealing with sensitive skin. Eco-Friendly Choices Sustainable packaging, cruelty-free production methods—that’s what vegan perfumes offer. So by picking a vegan fragrance you’re actually taking a small action that potentially can have a larger impact on reducing your ecological footprint. Making Your Vegan Perfume Last Longer Want to make your favorite vegan perfume last all day? The trick is all in the application. Spritz your perfume on pulse points – your wrists, neck, and behind your ears – where your body heat will help to diffuse the scent. Avoid rubbing your wrists together as this can break down the fragrance molecules. Proper storage is also crucial. Keep your perfumes in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat. This will help to preserve their potency and longevity, ensuring that you can enjoy your signature scent for months to come. Image by Olena Rubo / Adobestock Improve Your Lifestyle With Vegan Perfumes Vegan perfumes are more than just a fragrant indulgence – they're a lifestyle choice that reflects your values and enhances your everyday experiences. With their alluring scents, ethical ingredients, and eco-conscious approach, vegan perfumes are a win-win for both you and the planet. So, whether you're a seasoned traveler seeking a scent to capture the essence of your adventures or a conscious consumer looking for cruelty-free beauty products, vegan perfumes are a perfect choice. https://app.originality.ai/home/content-scan/18797241 By ML Staff. - How Even the Young Pablo Picasso Was Already Foreshadowing Cubism
At the end of the 19th century, long before starting to speak, Pablo Ruiz Picasso (1881-1973) was already drawing – and he grew up “capturing” everything he saw with a pencil. Through several of the drawings and sketches in pencil made by the young man from Malaga during his formative years in A Coruña (1891-1895), in the North of Spain, we can see a clear foreshadowing of what became a revolution that spanned the arts, the limits of perception, communication, and expression. The young Picasso’s work was an early form of cubism, an artistic and stylistic movement that officially began in 1907 with the famous painting Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (The Young Ladies of Avignon – in reference to an old and well-known street in Barcelona with brothels), painted by Picasso. The fourth dimension (and beyond) Picasso made cubism official in 1907, but it was something that he had already been able to imagine and begin to represent in some drawings from his time and apprenticeship in A Coruña: the ability to create a new style, a new artistic way of seeing and representing reality. This made it possible to go beyond the creative limit set by the painters of the Italian Renaissance. They had managed to represent the perfectly consolidated third dimension in a scientific way in Italian Quattrocento paintings – with the first dimension being height, the second width, and the third depth (thanks to the geometric rules of perspective). In Christ Giving the Keys to St. Peter, by Perugino (1481-1482), it is perfectly clear how the third dimension is achieved through perspective (the piece’s correct depth). Wikimedia Commons Picasso went further and achieved the representation of another three dimensions. He depicted a fourth dimension – the ability to represent the back – or what is not perceived but what we know is there, for example, the face and the nape of a single character in the same plane. The fifth dimension (or “depth” dimension) is, for example, the representation of a bare chest with a heart, normally invisible under the epidermis, or the lung. This, in the Renaissance, would have been unthinkable – what was not seen was not represented. The sixth dimension is the imagined or “dreamlike” dimension. This is what is not there or cannot be seen but what we know exists in the imagination or we have seen in a dream (thus, Picasso was also several years ahead of surrealism). Cubism before a mirror A good example of these dimensions is the painting Girl Before a Mirror, from 1932, which is in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Girl before a Mirror, by Pablo Picasso, held by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Neil R / Flickr, CC BY-NC In this portrait of his muse and lover, Marie-Thérèse Walter, we can see the fourth dimension thanks to the face in profile view and the same face in frontal view. The horizontal black stripes on the left are Marie-Thérèse’s ribs and, therefore, they make reference to the fifth dimension, also present in the representation of a foreshadowed pregnancy in a circumference. The imagined (or dreamt) vision of Picasso – the sixth dimension – is portrayed in the way in which the mirror reflects an image back at the model of an ugly and decrepit woman who gazes at death. Picasso thus creates an exciting cubist piece with brilliant polychromy. All this exists and, according to Picasso, can be represented on a single canvas, board or two-dimensional paper. From the beginning Picasso was always talented and even unique. He never drew pictures like a child does – “not even when he was very young,” according to his own account. His viewpoint was always adult in nature. That is why it is so important to revisit Picasso’s drawings from his time in A Coruña (1891-1895). At first glance, they seem just children’s drawings like any others… but they are a lot more than that. It is necessary to examine them very carefully to truly notice how the birth of a genius came about and how the revolution that was cubism was born. How, from this point on, reality would be represented not always in a hyper-realistic way, as had more or less happened until then, but segmented into geometric, cubic, abstract planes. An incredible turn. Indicative details For example, in Double Profile Study of a Bearded Man, the geometric framing of the face is an analytical dissection that surpasses conventional academic work. At first glance, this is an ordinary exercise in the geometric composition of a male face, but the forcefulness of the lines used to mark proportions and the resolute manner of the dark spots (eyebrow, nose, and mouth) foreshadow elements that Picasso will explore further in later cubism. Doble estudio de perfil de un hombre barbudo (Double Profile Study of a Bearded Man), 1892-1893, private collection. Author provided In Personaje con Pipa (Person with a Pipe), the young Picasso incorporates the subtle white chalk technique to artistically accentuate the clothing of the character, as the crossing stripes on the lapel show. Pablo Ruiz was beginning to guide and lead his conceptual way of working towards the adult Picasso. Personaje con pipa (Person with a Pipe), 1894-1895, A Coruña. Picasso Museum, Barcelona The geometric compositional structure in Caserío Gallego (Galician Homestead), elaborated with simple abstraction of space, is related to the rationalist exploration of forms that Picasso would undertake in the 20th century. In Houses on the Hill of Horta de Ebro, it becomes evident that the geometric and shadow play of this piece had already been foreshadowed in the previous homestead piece. On the left, Caserío gallego (Galician Homestead), painted in A Coruña. On the right, Houses on the Hill of Horta de Ebro, 1909. Picasso Museum, Barcelona/MOMA Obviously, it cannot be said that there are glimpses of forms that point towards the Cubist revolution in all the drawings from A Coruña. But, if the previous pieces and some others are observed, we will see that something of what was to come was beginning to take shape in the Galician city. - StretchLab: Elevating Wellness Through Assisted Stretching In Miami
StretchLab, a global leader in assisted stretching, debuted in Miami earlier this year. The Magic City’s first StretchLab studio is located in Midtown, one of Miami’s hippest neighborhoods, at 140 NE 32nd St. StretchLab introduces people of all ages and fitness levels to the various health and wellness benefits of working with highly trained Flexologists™ in an open, modern, fun, and approachable environment. StretchLab Miami Midtown proudly belongs to the ownership and leadership of local resident Agnes Pierre-Louis, who brings over fifteen years of international experience in the tourism and leisure industries. While her background is impressive, the true essence of StretchLab lies in the numerous benefits it offers through assisted stretching, catering to everyone from professional athletes to individuals seeking general wellness. “Assisted stretching was not only on-trend, but something that spoke to me personally,” says Agnes. “I practiced ballet while growing up in Haiti and learned that stretching helped me reduce stress and increase productivity. I gave up dance when I moved to Paris for further education. While I never pursued dancing again, I have always missed it and only years later found yoga to require a similar discipline around balance. Most people recognize the importance of stretching, but not everyone feels comfortable in a dance or yoga studio. What won me over was the body-focused technology that StretchLab is applying to the practice for the first time. It's why I believe it will be a valuable specialized resource for the Midtown community, which has already developed as a boutique fitness hub.” One of the key emerging trends in the wellness industry is resilience—the ability to optimally perform physically and mentally despite changes in aging and environment. Stretching is a fundamental component in building resilience, aiding both injury prevention and physical recovery. Trainers of professional athletes and therapists of professionals whose careers depend on their physical condition emphasize the importance of stretching, particularly assisted stretching, for its enhanced effectiveness. StretchLab’s environment is designed to be inclusive and approachable, making stretching accessible to all. The brand’s Flexologists™ hold a nationally recognized certificate in assisted stretching, accredited by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence—a unique credential that sets StretchLab apart from other brands. Memberships at StretchLab include options for monthly visits, packages, and individual sessions, allowing flexibility in how clients choose to incorporate stretching into their wellness routines. The true magic of StretchLab, however, lies not only in the expertise of its certified Flexologists but also in its innovative use of technology. One such technological advancement is the MAPS machine. Proprietary MAPS technology (Mobility, Activation, Posture, and Symmetry) identifies movement inefficiencies across these four critical categories as users perform three body-weight squats. A MAPS score is generated in less than 30 seconds using 3D technology, providing a total body movement assessment. Results are delivered on-screen and via email, creating a “roadmap” with which StretchLab Flexologists can guide their clients’ progress. This combination of personal touch and technology creates a customized, goal-driven movement plan, allowing clients to see measurable improvements in their flexibility. Founded in 2015, StretchLab is the largest assisted stretching brand, created to help people through customized flexibility services. It offers one-on-one assisted stretching sessions to clients of all ages and fitness levels. StretchLab’s advanced Flexologists undergo extensive training both in the classroom and on the job, ensuring that clients receive top-tier care. The benefits of stretching are numerous and well-documented. Regular stretching helps decrease pain, lowers the risk of injury, and enhances overall performance in daily activities. Whether you are an athlete looking to improve your performance or someone seeking relief from the aches and pains of everyday life, stretching can be transformative. At StretchLab, clients experience a deeper stretch than they can achieve on their own, empowering them to move with more freedom and perform better throughout the day. The environment at StretchLab is vibrant and energetic, offering a unique experience unlike any other. It is not a spa or a quiet yoga studio, but a place where upbeat music plays, passionate Flexologists engage with clients, and people enjoy deep, advanced stretches in a communal space. In conclusion, StretchLab's debut in Miami is poised to make a significant impact on the local wellness scene. By offering personalized, technology-enhanced stretching sessions in a fun and welcoming environment, StretchLab helps individuals achieve greater flexibility, reduce pain, and enhance overall well-being. Whether you are new to stretching or an experienced athlete, StretchLab provides the expertise and support needed to reach your wellness goals.
