The Miami Dolphins have bolstered their squad depth by bringing in two new players to  charge up their defence. With the team hoping to become formidable in the NFL, these  signings are poised to offer a high level of experience and leadership. We've explored both  player's stats and how they can improve the Miami Dolphins' side.  Image by eileenploh / Pixabay Dolphins Management  The Dolphins have recorded two Super Bowl victories since its debut, going unbeaten in  1972 and winning it last in the 1973 season. However, the team has yet to have such fortunes  recently, losing its last Super Bowl tournament against the 49ers in 1984. It also lost the  Wildcard Playoffs to the Ravens in 2008 with Tony Sparano as its head coach. The  disappointment trailing the team has prompted a need for some fresh intakes.  Its owner, Stephen Ross, bought half its franchise for about half a million dollars in 2008 and  an additional 45% of the team in 2009, increasing his investment to a billion dollars. Under  the American's ownership, he has attempted to revive the team to its glory days, reaching  three playoffs in 2016, 2022, and 2023. Although these were lost, these results had bright  sides, as the team ended second best in the ACF East in the last two years.   As the franchise hopes to improve, there have been rumours of a shift in the Dolphin’s  leadership. The billionaire owner, Ross, had revealed he was negotiating to sell a minority  part  of the franchise, including a portion of F1 Miami and the Hard Rock Stadium. Further  news disclosed that he rejected a $10 billion offer with the intention of retaining control of all  the entities and further boosting the Dolphin's strength before next season. The  American football defensive tackle has started 225 out of 244 games over his 15-year career.  The 37-year-old has recorded 249 assists and 105.5 sacks in his regular seasons .  His inclusion into the Dolphins team is necessary, to support linebackers Jaelan Phillips, 25  and Bradley Chubb, 28. He also brings significant experience to the team, reiterating that he  joined the team for an opportunity to win the Super Bowl, a trophy that has eluded him in his  fairly rewarding career.  Marcus Maye  Maye has played for seven seasons in the NFL, previously for the New York Jets and New  Orleans Saints. The 31-year-old has started all 77 games he played in the league.  The Dolphins look forward to the American football safety replicating his 2020 stats at New  York Jets, where he defended 11 passes, and recorded 88 tackles, starting all 16 games he  played in.  Impact on the Team’s Dynamics  The additions of Maye and Campbell are not about individual talents but about a move to  improve team dynamics. Their combined experience and leadership skills can enhance the  team's performance and promote accountability and excellence. Here are some of the ways  their additions will impact the dynamics of the team in the future:  Mentorship  Maye and Campbell can be a beacon to young players, standing in as mentors and providing  guidance on and off the field. With lots of experience, their professional approach to the  game can help shape discipline and better work ethics in the locker room.  Morale  These high-profile signings will boost the morale and confidence of the current team as they  play alongside each other. Also, knowing that the objective is to build a competitive team,  they can motivate their teammates to improve their performance and possibly win the Super  Bowl.  Versatility  Combining both players will encourage and foster creativity in their defence schemes. The  flexibility they bring can disrupt opposing offences, making the Dolphins an unpredictable  and formidable opponent. Final Thoughts  The signing of both Campbell and Maye signals a commitment by the Dolphin's ownership to  building a competitive team. These additions are what the team needs to solidify its defence  for great potential in the upcoming season. Winters  are freezing, but spring, summer, and autumn all provide a welcome respite from the Miami  humidity. For a city, it is also  surprisingly green with plenty of parks and cycle lanes to get around in.   Getting to Ontario from Miami  There are plenty of ways to get from Miami to Ontario. However, most people will opt to fly  instead of take buses. In fact, in some cases, a flight is not that different in price and can range from $140 to $600. These flights operate directly from Miami to Toronto airport.  Several airlines have routes available, such as Air Canada , Aeromexico, and Air Transat. A  cheaper option is to travel to Detroit by road, and then get a flight from there.   You can always decide to drive. On a straight run, this will take just over 24 hours. On Tuesday July 23, 2024, 11am-1pm, New Urban Development, the real estate division of the Urban League of Greater Miami, will celebrate the   Grand Opening of Superior Manor Phase II, a newly constructed seventy-six (76) unit workforce and affordable housing residential building located at 2380 NW 52nd Street in the heart of Liberty City.  Slated to attend the Grand Opening is Rep. Frederica Wilson, Miami-Dade Mayor Levine Cava, Miami-Dade Commissioner Keon Hardemon, and Urban League of Greater Miami President, T. Willard Fair. The second phase of Superior Manor are multi-family residences targeted towards family households earning at or below 60% of Area Median Income (AMI) with a unit mix comprised of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, ranging in size from 700 to 1200 square feet, between two buildings with surface level parking and community-based amenities including a fitness center and community room for the whole family. It's an absolute pleasure to have you with us today. Thank you for taking the time to share your inspiring journey and insights with our readers.  Reflecting on your journey as a first-generation immigrant from New Jersey to becoming a TikTok sensation and influential advocate for body positivity, could you walk us through some pivotal moments or experiences that shaped your path to where you are today? Cynthia: Thank you so much for having me and listening to my journey. As a first generation immigrant, most of my pivotal experiences that shaped me to who am I am today definitely occurred in my adolescent years. I am a Sri Lankan American who grew up in Newark so you could definitely say I didn’t look like the norm. So people made it a point to go out of there way and talk about my looks. I grew up plus size so my weight and skin colour was something that someone in school or at home  would always have a comment on. I got called every nickname in the book for my skin tone and told to stop eatting, try these pills, or how I'm gonna regret the way I chose to live my life. I think in the beginning it hurt to hear but eventually I heard it so often that I stopped caring because hearing them say whatever they did, did not change the person I wanted to be. I know most of the people who made fun of my weight or skin colour just lacked a lot of knowledge, they grew up in ignorance and they were trying to teach it to me. So much of what I do now on social media is so simple, I'm just living and showing other people you don't have to be a on strict diets or bleach your skin to be liked. You can just be a nice human being.  ML: Your TikTok handle, 'Shawtysin', is quite unique and intriguing. Can you tell us the story behind your Sri Lankan-inspired name and how it reflects your identity? Cynthia: Whenever most people ask me how I got my username they think it’ll be a very interesting story, but I grew up in a place where men always say “SHAWTY” to call on a girl they don't know, and I made my Instagram at a very young age and I really liked "Shawty" so I added "Sin" to the end of it to touch upon my actual name, and boom! "Shawtysin" was born. ML: You've mentioned your experiences with bullying during your childhood and teenage years. How have these experiences shaped your advocacy against bullying, and what strategies do you employ to address this issue within your community and beyond? Cynthia: Bullying is a worldwide issue and affects anyone at any age. It affects younger children and creates the insecurities that adults have to work through later in life. Now I'm much more aware of how/why  children and peoople project their own hurt onto others. My job online is to strengthen the way people feel about themselves so that no bullies can affect them. ML: You're passionate about improving the educational experience for children, especially in urban areas. Could you share some specific projects you're involved in to achieve this goal?  Cynthia: As of right now I havent figureed out the best ways to help the children in my area. But I believe the way to figure out the best ways to help is through the teachers, and my first piority is to make them feel seen and appreciated. I try my best to donate as much PR as I possibly can to my local highschool, and slowly but surely I will find the best ways to help the students even through my platform.  ML: As a tech-savvy individual currently studying technology at Rutgers University, what's one tech gadget or app you can't live without, and how does it enhance your daily life? Cynthia: Well there's the obvious TikTok where I make most of my content and scroll endlessly but learn a tremendous amount from. But one of my go-to apps that I can not live without is Google calendar. I just don't understand how people function without it. I have so many things going on from personal life to work and to make sure I dont overbook and/or forget anything, I make sure to mark every event and reminder needed in that calendar. Even if you need to just take a break sometimes, it's good to schedule in some time off. ML: Your TikTok feed is a hit with millions, blending your Sri Lankan culture, beauty favorites, and foodie discoveries seamlessly. What keeps your followers coming back for more? Cynthia: It's definitely the fact that there will either be chaos, the truth, a good story time, a bomb makeup look, or all the things combined!   ML: What aspirations or goals do you have for the future, both personally and professionally?  Cynthia: Personally I want to grow so much more. I feel like the first few years of life I was forced into school and told to learn, but now more than ever I want to learn more. The past few years I feel like I've been stagant and haven't been told to research or read, so my knowledge hasn't grown. I want to learn new hobbies, try things I never thought I could do, and push my boundaires. Professionally I think its time for a re-brand. It's been fun creating on TikTok because its so casual and people love relating to me, but i want to level up my content to a place where others can feel motivated to want to achieve more for themselves (just as other creators make me feel). Homo Faber celebrates the savoir-faire and unique stories of talented craftspeople from around the globe, honouring the priceless human skill behind the creation of beautiful, handcrafted objects. Imagined by celebrated film director and interior architect Luca Guadagnino, and architect Nicolò Rosmarini, the celebration, titled The Journey of Life , will feature the work of more than 400 highly skilled craftspeople from 50 countries, in 10 themed exhibition spaces. The Homo Faber 2024 will take place at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on the island of S.Giorgio Maggiore, Venice, from 1–30 September, 2024. An immersive exhibition offering rare insight into precious craft skills Showcasing the exceptional savoir-faire of its Métiers Rares™ atelier and reflecting a core value of the Maison, Jaeger-LeCoultre has been chosen as a participant in the ‘Nature’ exhibition. Many of the Maison's motifs are inspired by nature, such as the exhibited pieces of Reverso One ‘Precious Flowers’. The Maison will underline the inheritance of traditional crafts, the value of passing down savoir-faire from generation to generation, and the influence of symbolic imagery throughout history. Homo Faber Fellowship: supporting the transmission of savoir-faire Reinforcing its commitment to supporting the preservation and transmission of vitally important craft skills for future generations, Jaeger-LeCoultre last year became the partner of the Michelangelo Foundation in the Homo Faber Fellowship. A long-term initiative, the programme equips talented graduates with the creative and business skills necessary for integration into the professional craft sector. The inaugural cycle began with a month-long residential masterclass based at the studio of the renowned Portuguese contemporary artist Joana Vasconcelos and brought together 20 duos of Master craftsmen and newly graduated talents (Fellows). Workshops in creative skills were complemented by a design case study presented by Jaeger-LeCoultre, and a bespoke programme focused on business skills and entrepreneurial vision presented and certified by ESSEC Business School. This was followed by a six-month residential placement for the Fellows in the studios of their corresponding Masters, during which they exchanged ideas and further developed their techniques through the co-creation of an object. A selection of these objects has been curated for the Homo Faber2024, where they will be displayed in different exhibition areas, corresponding to the creative visions and craft skills that each embodies.
