  • Miami Beach Approves $12 Million Lincoln Road and Beachwalk Revitalization Project

The Miami Beach City Commission has unanimously approved a major revitalization project for the 100-300 blocks of Lincoln Road and the adjacent Beachwalk entrance. The $12 million redevelopment is spearheaded by Sobe Sky Development, owners of The Ritz-Carlton South Beach, The Ritz-Carlton Residences, and The Sagamore Hotel. The project received additional support from Miami Beach City Commissioner Alex Fernandez and State Representative Vicki Lopez. The agreement includes funding contributions from the State of Florida ($4.85 million), the City of Miami Beach ($4 million), and a $4 million private investment by Sobe Sky Development. The revitalization effort aims to enhance pedestrian safety, improve traffic circulation, and create a more inviting and vibrant urban corridor that connects Lincoln Road’s pedestrian shopping district to the beach. “This project is a vital step toward restoring safety, vibrancy, and positive activity to Lincoln Road,” said Commissioner Alex Fernandez. “It will be the premier gateway to the Beachwalk and beaches, reflecting the beauty and spirit of Miami Beach.” The phased plan, designed by Andres Arcila of Naturalficial, envisions transforming Lincoln Road into a “grand concourse” with lush landscaping, public art installations, and a Lapidus-inspired gateway monument serving as a landmark entrance. The design aims to realize the historic vision of connecting Lincoln Road from “bay to sea,” enhancing both aesthetic appeal and functional access for pedestrians. Key features include an artwalk showcasing local public art, street redesign to improve vehicle flow and pedestrian safety, and a serene “mini park” at the Beachwalk entrance on Collins Avenue, which is the busiest pedestrian beach access in Miami Beach, with over 7,000 daily crossings. In addition to the 100 block redevelopment, Sobe Sky is advancing plans to revitalize the 200 and 300 blocks of Lincoln Road, including pedestrianization initiatives and negotiations with Dade County to reroute traffic and bus lines. Peter Kanavos, Senior Vice President of Flag Luxury Group and co-owner of Sobe Sky Development, highlighted the project’s importance: “This public-private partnership represents one of the most significant investments in Miami Beach’s urban core in over a decade. It supports the city’s economic development strategy to attract new businesses, residents, and cultural tourism.” The revitalization project marks a renewed commitment to preserving the legacy of Lincoln Road as an iconic Miami Beach destination, blending modern urban design with historic charm. • Practice 12: 2025 Miami Dolphins Training Camp Notebook

Dolphins camp 2025 has been a competitive endeavor. Both sides of the ball have traded wins on a daily basis as the team rips through efficient, quality practices. Wednesday, there was a clearer winner. "I felt today the defense had the best of us with what training camp had looked prior for us coming into today's practice," quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said. It wasn't all defense, however. Tagovailoa found running back De'Von Achane for a touchdown strike capping a 50-yard scoring march. "That's what you want to see," Tagovailoa said. "You want to see that back and forth and if there's swings, you want to try to keep that swing as consistent on that side as possible and I think they did a really good job with that in even situational drills today. I'm very proud of them and we're all looking forward to going to Chicago and seeing what those guys have in store for us." The defensive backfield made life difficult on all three Miami quarterbacks. Pass breakups, sacks and throwaways were the most common outcomes with coverage and communication in the back end on point. Cornerback Jack Jones had multiple pass breakups and incompletions forced with sticky coverage. Jones and fellow cornerback Ethan Bonner made a handful of stops against short throws and in the run game, while Bonner also got his hands on two passes. Kendall Sheffield also found the football securing the only interception of the day. Wide receiver Tahj Washington, who pulled down a juggling catch earlier on a tipped ball by cornerback Storm Duck, tried to elevate for a Zach Wilson throw, but Sheffield got to it first for the takeaway. "The rotation on the back end, we're intentionally keeping very varied at a lot of places to give a lot of people opps to compete, and I think each player in our secondary will get their opportunity," Head Coach Mike McDaniel said. "We've been building for this competition for a while and I'm pretty excited to see how it unfolds, to tell you the truth." It was a busy day for the linebackers, too. Willie Gay Jr's. scorching camp continued with two more sacks and a batted pass at the line of scrimmage. Chop Robinson made his usual visit to the backfield for a sack on Wilson. Jordyn Brooks stacked up multiple runs and had a big hit on a pass to tight end Julian Hill. These are every day occurrences for the Miami linebacker. Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle had the biggest play of the day on offense. He caught a pass from Tagovailoa racing through the secondary for a gain of about 50 yards. Running back Ollie Gordon saw daylight ripping off a 30-yard run. His combination of power and patience has impressed through 12 practices. All these plays are made possible by an offensive line that's had a good camp, due in large part to the many ways the defense can stress their protection plans. "One of the reasons why I gravitated towards this defensive scheme with Coach Weaver, is they give a lot of protection issues systematically while being able to throw a lot at you but it's not that much to them," McDaniel said. And in that process, it makes your offensive line collectively better. I've seen pass pro and in the run game, a nice evolution thus far in camp relative to where we've been every year. So, so far so good with that." The Dolphins are back on the field tomorrow but will do so in Chicago. Friday, the team will square off against the Bears in a joint practice before the preseason opener Sunday at Soldier Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. eastern. • Topic: What Makes a Restaurant Truly Stand Out in Miami’s Competitive Market?

In a city known for its vibrant culture, diverse cuisine, and nonstop nightlife, opening a restaurant in Miami can feel like entering a high-stakes competition. With new eateries popping up in Wynwood, Brickell, and South Beach seemingly every week, standing out isn’t just a bonus, it’s a necessity. So what separates the flash-in-the-pan concepts from the long-term neighborhood staples or buzzworthy hotspots? It’s not always just the food (though that certainly matters).  In today’s Miami dining scene, the winners are the ones that create a complete experience, balancing ambiance, operations, innovation, and authenticity. Let’s take a look at the key elements that help restaurants thrive in one of the country’s most dynamic culinary markets. Beyond the Menu: Why First Impressions (and Operations) Matter Ask any regular diner, and they’ll tell you, the experience begins before the first bite. From the entrance design to how quickly you’re seated, the initial moments inside a restaurant shape expectations. That’s why savvy restaurateurs in Miami prioritize creative ambiance and flawless service flow alongside their cuisine. But to truly deliver consistency, it takes more than just aesthetic choices and skilled staff. It requires investing in the infrastructure that keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. This includes outfitting the kitchen with reliable, commercial-grade tools that enable chefs to work efficiently under pressure. For example, working with a top-tier commercial kitchen equipment supplier like  Restaurant Supply  ensures restaurants have access to the latest ovens, prep stations, refrigeration systems, and storage solutions. This level of investment supports speed, consistency, and safety, critical components for delivering a standout dining experience night after night. In a city like Miami, where heat, humidity, and high customer expectations collide, having the right equipment can make or break a kitchen’s ability to perform during peak hours. Keys to Standing Out in Miami’s Crowded Food Scene If there’s one thing Miami locals and tourists alike crave, it’s uniqueness. With such a competitive market, restaurants must lean into what makes them different, not just better. Here are a few standout strategies that successful Miami restaurants use: Bespoke, story-driven menus Locally sourced ingredients with a story behind them Fusion flavors that reflect Miami’s multicultural roots Chef-driven creations that rotate seasonally or by theme The menu should be more than food. It should reflect the identity of the restaurant and its creators. Restaurants also need to create an immersive atmosphere. Design isn’t just about trendy colors or lighting. It’s about crafting a mood that aligns with the brand. For example: A sleek, minimalist sushi bar in Brickell might emphasize calm, high-end intimacy. A lively, open-air Latin fusion spot in Wynwood may go bold with murals, music, and communal tables Miami diners want a vibe, not just a seat. Behind every memorable meal is a kitchen and staff that runs like clockwork. This includes: Reliable commercial kitchen equipment that can handle high volume and diverse dishes Strong vendor partnerships for fresh produce, seafood, and specialty items Well-trained staff who are empowered to offer personal, enthusiastic service Even the best dish can fall flat if the kitchen is backed up or the food arrives cold. Operational strength is often the quiet engine of restaurant success. The Magic Mix: Innovation, Culture, and Consistency Miami restaurants  that stand the test of time often hit a sweet spot between trend-forward innovation and consistent quality. They evolve their menus and concepts without losing sight of what makes them beloved in the first place. This often includes: Staying tapped into food and lifestyle trends, such as plant-forward dining, zero-waste practices, or experiential tasting menus Celebrating local culture, whether through music, décor, or collaborations with Miami artists and influencers Maintaining consistency, from food quality to service delivery, even on the busiest Friday night When these elements come together, they create a kind of magic that patrons not only remember but actively seek out and recommend. Final Thoughts: Excellence is Built from the Ground Up In a place as fast-paced and trend-sensitive as Miami, restaurant success doesn’t come from luck. It comes from strategy, vision, and execution. The most celebrated spots don’t just serve good food. They create spaces where people want to linger, return, and bring their friends. That experience starts with great people and great ideas, but it's powered by the right tools and operations. From sourcing authentic ingredients to working with trusted partners to outfit the kitchen, every detail plays a role. So, what makes a restaurant truly stand out in Miami? It’s the seamless blend of culture, creativity, and capability, and the drive to consistently deliver on all three. By ML staff. Images courtesy of Pexels

  • How to Store Your Paint by Numbers Canvas and Paints Between Sessions

Keeping your paint by numbers canvas and paints stored correctly between sessions helps paints stay fresh, brushes stay in good shape, and the canvas remains neat. Many people find that organizing their supplies also makes getting started next time quicker and easier. Acrylic paint pots should be shut tightly, and trays or containers can keep colors organized and upright to prevent spills. Storing the canvas flat or rolled avoids hard-to-fix wrinkles or creases. Wrapping it in tissue or wax paper keeps the surface clean and safe from dust. Printed guides also last longer in plastic sleeves or sheet protectors. Those who invest in complete paint by numbers sets  find that simple storage habits can make each project last longer and more enjoyable. People looking for quality kits can explore unique designs with paint by numbers kits for adults. Image by Aleksey Marokov / Pexels Storing Paint by Numbers Canvases and Paints Effectively Proper storage helps paint by numbers kits last longer and keeps supplies easy to use. Taking simple steps can stop paint from drying out, keep brushes in good shape, and prevent damage to the canvas. Protecting Acrylic Paints from Drying Out Acrylic paints dry quickly when exposed to air, so lids should be closed tightly on all paint pots after use. It helps to wipe away dried paint from the edges before sealing to stop air leaks. Store acrylic paints upright in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Heat and sunlight can cause paints to thicken or separate. If a paint pot is not sealing well, wrapping the opening with plastic wrap before closing can help hold in moisture. For opened paints, some people move leftover paint into small airtight containers. It is helpful to label each container with the paint number and date opened to avoid confusion. If acrylic paint thickens, adding a small drop of water and stirring can restore its texture—but only use a little at a time to avoid making it too thin. Organizing Paint Pots and Brushes by Number Keeping paint pots organized by number can make painting faster and prevent mistakes. Use a tray, shallow box, or drawer organizer with dividers to separate the numbers. Standing paint pots upright also helps avoid spills and leaks. Brushes should be cleaned right after painting with mild soap and lukewarm water. Lay them flat to dry with the bristles straight or store them bristle-side up in a cup. Do not leave wet brushes on the bristles because this can bend and ruin their shape. Consider keeping a simple chart or list of the paint numbers with brush sizes used for each color. Group all clean brushes together in a container or zip bag to keep them neat and easy to find for the next session. Keeping Canvas Flat or Rolled for Protection Unfinished paint by numbers canvases should be stored away from food, drinks, and pets. Canvases can be kept flat in a drawer, a large art folder, or between two clean boards for extra support. If space is tight, rolling the canvas with the painted side facing out can help avoid creases. Wrap the canvas in non-stick paper, such as wax or tissue paper, to protect the surface from dust and sticking. Keep both the canvas and any printed guides out of bright light. Direct sunlight or even strong indoor light can fade paint colors or damage the canvas over time. Avoid folding the canvas, as folds are hard to remove and may crack painted areas. Optimal Storage Environments and Supply Care Paint by numbers kits last longer and work better when stored in the right conditions. Acrylic paints can dry out or spoil if not protected, and canvases can get damaged by poor storage. Managing Temperature and Humidity Acrylic paint jars and paint by numbers kits stay in better shape when kept in rooms between 65°F and 75°F. High heat can speed up drying or cause paints to separate. Freezing temperatures make paints lumpy and unusable. Humidity also affects paint life. Rooms with 40% to 60% humidity work best because high humidity can lead to mold, and low humidity can dry out paints quickly. Simple tips to control temperature and humidity: Condition Solution Too hot Store in a closet, avoid attics Too cold Keep away from outer walls Too damp Use silica gel packs Too dry Small room humidifier Avoid placing supplies near windows, heaters, or air conditioning vents. Shielding Supplies from Sunlight Direct sunlight will fade colors, dry out paints, and warp canvases. Acrylic paints can even separate or become thick if exposed to the sun. Paint jars, containers, and unfinished canvases should be kept in a shaded spot, such as a cupboard or drawer. Avoid window sills and areas with strong indoor lights. Cover supplies with a box, opaque bin, or cloth if no closed storage is available. Bright light over time can also make paint colors shift or brushes brittle. For best results, label storage areas and avoid moving supplies outside or to sunlit rooms between sessions. Maintaining the Quality of Stored Materials Store acrylic paint pots upright with their lids screwed on tight. Wipe away dried paint around the edges before closing to keep air out. Use small baskets, trays, or boxes with dividers to stand paint jars by number. Clean brushes after each use with mild soap, dry them well, and store them flat or bristle-up in a cup. Canvases are better stored flat in large folders or gently rolled with wax paper. Folded canvases can crease and be hard to flatten back out. Printed guides are easy to protect in clear sleeves. Keep them away from spills and food. Grouping and labeling supplies by type makes starting a painting easier next time. Image by Руслана Стельмах / Pexels Conclusion Storing paint by numbers supplies with care helps keep paints fresh, brushes clean, and canvases safe. Using airtight containers, cool dry places, and gentle handling can make a big difference. Short routines, like wiping paint jars and washing brushes, keep supplies ready for the next session. Staying organized saves time and makes projects more enjoyable. A simple storage plan protects art and makes painting even more fun. With these steps, anyone can keep their paint by numbers kit in good condition between sessions. By ML Staff. Images courtesy of Pexels
