  • Continuum Miami Beach and K’Far Brooklyn Unite for Exclusive Middle Eastern–Mediterranean Culinary Collaboration

Continuum, South Florida’s premier oceanfront condominium, launched its new season of culinary collaborations with an exclusive dinner at The Patio  restaurant on November 6. The event treated residents to a gastronomic journey that fused Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors, bringing together the talents of The Patio’s  Executive Chef Claudio Lobina  and Chef Sam Levenfeld  from Brooklyn’s acclaimed Israeli restaurant, K’Far . Chef Claudio Lobina, Chef Sam Levenfeld and Rishi Idnani The collaboration marked the first in a new series of guest chef events designed to elevate Continuum’s dining experience. The evening’s four-course menu featured signature dishes from both chefs, including Cheese Mousse with black truffle , Smoked Salmon with French onion labneh , Resek hummus , Babaganoush with Israeli pickles , and Raviolo with shrimp and ouzo butter sauce . Main courses featured stuffed Branzino  and grilled lamb chops with pomegranate molasses , while a pistachio baklava  dessert offered a sweet nod to traditional Tel Aviv cuisine. Chef Mauro Sorgon, Chef Sam Levenfeld and Chef Claudio Lobina “We’re thrilled to kick off the new season with one of Brooklyn’s most celebrated Israeli restaurants,” said Rishi Idnani , Managing Director at Continuum. “Our goal is to provide residents with world-class dining experiences that blend international influences with the refined Mediterranean touch of Chef Claudio Lobina. This collaboration with K’Far perfectly sets the tone for an exciting culinary season ahead.” K’Far, meaning “village” in Hebrew, was founded by Chef Michael Solomonov , a four-time James Beard Award winner and creator of the renowned Laser Wolf restaurant. Inspired by Solomonov’s Israeli heritage, K’Far’s Brooklyn outpost inside the Hoxton Hotel opened in 2022, offering contemporary Israeli cuisine centered on charcoal-grilled dishes and authentic Middle Eastern flavors. Chef Sam Levenfeld  expressed his appreciation for the collaboration: “Before I cook, I study the food and the culture behind it. This dinner was about combining K’Far’s Israeli heritage with Italian craftsmanship. The result was a seamless blend of two rich culinary traditions, and I’m grateful to the Continuum team for this memorable evening.” The event also marks the beginning of Continuum’s preparations for its seventh consecutive participation in the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, scheduled for February 2026, continuing its tradition of celebrating world-class cuisine and hospitality on Miami Beach. The 2025-2026 rehang, Walking on Air presents a focus on the work of Richard Tuttle, the artist most prominently represented in the collection, with pieces ranging from the mid-1960’s to the present. Tuttle’s early work – his Drift construction (1965), tin Letters (1966), and dyed cloth pieces (1967) – first introduced the sense of spatial suspension and material subtlety that have continued to define his practice to this day. Seen alongside David Hammons’ Basketball Drawing (1998), John Baldessari’s Throwing Three Balls in the Air to Get a Straight Line (1973) and Marcel Duchamp’s 1964 edition of 3 Standard Stoppages , a similarity emerges between these works’ shared fascination with chance and playful negotiation between gravity and grace. Drawing from Tuttle’s namesake work from 2009, Walking on Air suggests a theme that threads through exhibited works by Jana Euler, Sasha Gordon, Xinyi Cheng and Mario Ayala. Additional highlights include recent acquisitions by Lauren Halsey, Sam McKinnis, Jill Mulleady, and others.  Dates: December 2-5 - By Appointment  Location: DACRA Headquarters, 3841 NE 2nd Ave., Miami, FL 33137   CARTIER CARTIER’S NEW REGIONAL FLAGSHIP - MIAMI DESIGN DISTRICT Cartier just debuted its newly designed and expanded regional flagship boutique in the Miami Design District. • Miami’s Michael Iavarone Turns $1 Million Bet into Breeder’s Cup Victory

It’s the kind of headline that belongs in a movie—but for Miami’s own Michael Iavarone, it’s real life. The investment advisor and horseman—recently featured in Netflix’s Race for the Crown —made headlines across the racing world this weekend when a share he purchased in Thoroughbred Bentornato  for $1 million  at the Keeneland Championship Sale  turned into a Breeders’ Cup victory just three days later .  On October 29 , during Keeneland’s Championship Sale held in the Del Mar Paddock, Iavarone and his wife, Jules, bought a 25% ownership interest  in Bentornato, a four-year-old Florida-bred colt by Valiant Minister and bred by Tanma Corp. The interest was consigned by the horse’s trainer, José D’Angelo , who is also based in South Florida.  “He’s a beautiful horse – 17 hands and really, super fast,” said Iavarone. “Keeneland does a great job at everything. As a matter of fact, we (my wife Jules Iavarone) and I met at Keeneland. So Keeneland holds a very special place in my heart.”  Only three days later, on November 1 , Bentornato went wire-to-wire to win the $2 million Cygames Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1)  at Del Mar. Ridden by champion jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. , Bentornato blazed through the six-furlong race and crossed the finish line 2¼ lengths ahead of the field, giving his connections a storybook victory on one of racing’s biggest stages.  “I watched this horse run at Churchill and was really impressed...I feel like it was meant to be,” said Iavarone. “To be able to buy a horse on Wednesday and run a horse in the Breeder’s Cup on Saturday – what else can you ask for? Win, lose or draw—it’s a win for us.”  The Keeneland Championship Sale , launched last year by the Lexington racetrack and auction house, offers a highly curated selection of racing and breeding prospects in an exclusive, invitation-only format held during Breeders’ Cup week. “The Championship Sale was designed to showcase offerings that are truly one of a kind,” said Tony Lacy, Vice President of Sales at Keeneland. Bentornato’s journey to the Breeders’ Cup began earlier this season at Keeneland, where D’Angelo trained both Bentornato and stablemate Shisospicy  during the Fall Meet. His form was already electric—just weeks before the sale, Bentornato had dominated the Louisville Thoroughbred Society Stakes at Churchill Downs, clocking six furlongs in 1:08.43.  By ML Staff. • How to Turn Your Backyard into the Ultimate Staycation Destination

Traveling takes a lot of time and energy. Between planning a trip and figuring out how to take time off work, leaving your home for a far-flung destination might sometimes feel more exhausting than restorative. Even a domestic trip could end up taking up more out of you than you’d like.   Instead of using your precious time and money trying to book a vacation, why not bring your favorite vacation spots to you? One way to do this is to turn your backyard into a lush, relaxing and comfortable oasis you can enjoy for years to come.  Image by DepositPhotos As you get started, keep in mind that some backyard makeover ideas are more expensive than others. If you want to put in a pool, a new patio or an outdoor kitchen, you could be looking at spending thousands of dollars. A personal loan  from a bank, credit union or online lender could help, especially if you qualify for a low interest rate.  But whether you go big or keep it small, there are many ways to create the ultimate staycation destination in your own backyard.   Create different areas The first step is to decide on a design scheme for your backyard. Think about how you want to use the space and what types of features will help you feel like you’re on vacation.  One way to do this is to separate your space into different areas based on activity type. For example, an outdoor kitchen and patio could be a great place to cook, grill and dine with family and friends. Or you might want a comfortable place to kick back and read a book in the shade. For gathering the family, a fire pit is always a nice touch for later in the evening and a fun activity for all ages, especially if s’mores are involved.   A water element like a small fountain, pond or even a pool could help boost the vacation vibe. However, these features are often expensive to install and can require ongoing maintenance costs. They can also be dangerous if there are small children around. If you go that route, you’ll want to look into gates and fences to keep everyone safe. Image by DepositPhotos Use landscaping  A simple way to elevate your space is to add plants, grass and flowers that are native to your environment and won’t be too difficult to maintain. A flower garden or raised beds could add a lot of seasonal color to your backyard.  Greenery can also help you make your space more private. Plant bushes and small trees along your fence or use them to create separate areas in your backyard.  Laying down gravel, building a rock garden, installing stepping stones or setting up a vertical garden on a trellis are other ways to make a big impact with relatively low effort.  Add furniture and decor  Comfortable seating, tables and lounge chairs could make your space elegant and cozy. Hang up a hammock between two trees or on a frame. Add a large umbrella for shade if it gets hot — a pergola can also shade an area for dining or lounging if you have money to spend.  Small touches like citronella candles, lamps and even tiki torches could be fun and keep the bugs away at night while adding a festive flair.  You may also want to have special patio-safe glasses, dishes and cutlery that have more of a vacation feel to them.  Include entertainment One of the best ways to pretend you’re on vacation is to have outdoor entertainment options. Is there an area where you could set up a big screen and a projector for movie nights? What about a sound system for playing your favorite music? You could also consider an open area for badminton and cornhole, or yoga and meditation.   Make your backyard feel like a vacation  Even if you don’t want to travel far from home, you can turn your backyard into an escape that gives you a break from the everyday. Think about your favorite places to travel to and what you like most about them. Try to recreate your own version at home using landscaping, decor and entertainment. Make your space feel more intentional by designating different areas for cooking, dining, lounging and having fun. Even small changes to your backyard could help you capture the carefree magic of a vacation. • Common Home Building Mistakes You Can Avoid by Working with a Custom Builder Who Is Also an Architect

Building a home is exciting, but it’s also one of those projects where even the most careful planning can go sideways. There are countless decisions to make, and each one affects cost, quality, and timeline. What often causes trouble is not the design itself or the workmanship but rather a disconnect between the two.  When design and build are not in sync, you can experience costly mistakes. And that is why engaging an architect builder in Sydney , someone who manages both design and construction under one roof, can change the experience entirely.  Image by DepositPhotos When Design and Construction Are Disconnected In the typical approach, an architect crafts the design and a separate builder takes over to bring it to life. On paper, that sounds logical, but in practice, it often leaves gaps. Misinterpretations can arise when design intent  is not clearly understood on site. Maybe a structural element looks different than intended, or a key material isn’t available, forcing last-minute changes. Those small adjustments accumulate into delays, cost overruns, and diluted design quality. A professional who wears both hats eliminates that divide. With one person overseeing both stages, the original vision carries through without compromise. Every decision is made with a deep understanding of how it impacts both aesthetics and buildability. There is no handover period, no second-guessing, just a continuous, well-informed process that keeps everyone aligned from concept to completion. How Cost Blowouts Begin Long Before Construction Starts It is easy to assume that budgets go off track once construction begins, but the truth is, they often derail much earlier. A design might look perfect on paper yet prove unrealistic once it reaches a builder’s desk. That is when compromises begin, materials are swapped, layouts adjusted, or timelines stretched. These revisions take time, money, and usually a bit of the joy out of the process. An architect who also builds approaches this differently. Because they understand how design choices translate into real costs, they can integrate pricing insight right from the start. They consider how material availability, structural methods, and site conditions affect the bottom line, guiding you toward choices that achieve both design excellence and cost efficiency. Image by DepositPhotos The Pitfalls of Designing Without Everyday Function in Mind A home might photograph beautifully, but if it does not suit the needs of daily life, that beauty fades fast. Common oversights like awkward circulation, wasted corners, or rooms that feel disconnected tend to appear only after people move in. That said,  it is invaluable to have a builder who also thinks like an architect and vice versa because they design not just for appearance, but for real living. They will consider how a kitchen connects to outdoor spaces, where natural light falls throughout the day, or how storage can be built in without cluttering the design. These are small yet important decisions that make a home feel effortless to live in.  Missing the Chance to Maximise the Site’s Natural Advantages Every block of land holds potential, but not every design takes full advantage of it. Orientation, slope, breeze direction, and even neighbouring views all play into how a home performs. Overlooking those details can mean losing out on comfort and energy efficiency. An Architect with a builder's licence approaches the site as an integral part of the design. They assess how the land interacts with the sun and wind, where privacy matters most, and how to capture the best views without compromising thermal performance.  Image by DepositPhotos Takeaways When one professional manages both design and construction, every step feeds into the next with purpose and precision. As earlier mentioned, there is no disconnect between the drawing board and the job site because each decision is informed, deliberate, and in service of the overall vision.  For homeowners, it means peace of mind and a final product that genuinely reflects what they set out to build.  By ML Staff. As design in 2025 emphasizes natural textures, craftsmanship, and wellness-driven spaces, this exhibition celebrates how art mirrors the same impulses shaping modern interiors. “Curating CHROMA 2025  through the lens of design highlights how art and interiors share the same emotional language,” says Graciela Montich , curator and participating artist. “Each artist interprets balance, texture, and space differently, yet all invite reflection on how our surroundings shape our inner worlds.” Where Art and Design Converge The 2025 interior design landscape embraces warmth, texture, and authenticity—values shared by this year’s participating artists. Cari Cohen - Sculpture 3 - Sapphire - acrylic and concrete for wall Cari Cohen  (Miami) reimagines architectural materials such as concrete and plexiglass into sculptural compositions that balance rigidity and rhythm. • Masaomi Yasunaga: 記憶の足跡 |traces of Memory

ICA Miami is pleased to present the first major US museum exhibition for the Japanese ceramicist Masaomi Yasunaga. Emotive, highly textured, and otherworldly, Yasunaga’s works open up new possibilities for his chosen medium, interpreting modern avant-garde ceramics with a radically contemporary approach. This exhibition comprises recent works and a site-specific installation, highlighting the dynamic interdisciplinarity of Yasunaga’s innovative approach to material transformation. Artist: Masaomi Yasunaga Artwork Title: 熔ける器I Melting Vessel, 2023 Materials: Glaze, slip, clay, kiln wash, iron, kaolin, silver leaf Dimensions: 36 5/8 x 39 3/4 x 39 inches Courtesy of: Lisson Gallery and Nonaka-Hill Yasunaga was trained by Satoru Hoshino, a third-generation proponent of the Sodeisha movement, which sought to innovate new techniques and sculptural forms, eschewing the functionality and aesthetics of traditional folk art. Yasunaga creates ceramics using a traditional Tebineri hand-building; in lieu of clay, he uses glazes, as well as unconventional mixtures of glaze and minerals, rocks, metals, and glass powders. To preserve the forms during firing, Yasunaga buries them in sand or unrefined porcelain inside large kilns. Once fired, the resulting forms are removed from layers of material, a process the artist likens to archaeological excavation.  Masaomi Yasunaga (b. 1982, Osaka) lives and works in Iga-shi, Mie Prefecture, Japan. He has a master’s degree in environmental design from Osaka Sangyo University. Recent exhibitions include 即兴游离:陶瓷新倾向 (Impromptu Drift: New Tendencies in Ceramics), at UCCA Clay, Yixing, Jiangsu Province, China (2025); “In Holding Close” at Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Arts, Auburn (2023); and “Masaomi Yasunaga: A Shadow of the Eternity,” at Utsuwakan, Kyoto, Japan (2019). His work is featured in the permanent collections of the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art, Auburn, Alabama; Musée Ariana, Geneva, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. “Masaomi Yasunaga: 記憶の足跡 | Traces of Memory” is organized by the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, and curated by Alex Gartenfeld, Irma and Norman Braman Artistic Director, and Amanda Morgan, Associate Curator.
