  • Inside the Playbook: The Conversation Defining North Beach’s Future

North Beach has long been known as one of Miami Beach’s most charming neighborhoods, offering a laid-back, community-oriented alternative to the energy of South Beach. Now, the area is entering a new phase of growth, a shift that took center stage during a Jan. 15 panel discussion at 72 Park, the first luxury condominium completed in the idyllic area in over five years. For years, North Beach has been appreciated by locals for its oceanfront access and relaxed living. Now, North Beach is taking a big step forward  as interest in the area continues to grow.  The panel brought together developers and brokers to discuss North Beach’s growing appeal and future trajectory. Participants included Russell Galbut of Crescent Heights, Mendy Chudaitov of Lefferts, and brokers Fredrik Eklund and Jay Phillip Parker from Douglas Elliman.  Throughout the conversation, it became clear that North Beach’s growth has been years in the making. Panelists attributed the neighborhood’s progress to long-term planning and investment, with a focus on how residents live day to day. The panelists added that buyers are increasingly drawn to North Beach because it offers a quieter alternative to other Miami Beach markets.  Eklund and Parker added that many buyers are viewing North Beach as an opportunity to enter the Miami Beach market.  Chudaitov, whose firm is known for luxury projects in New York and South Florida, has played a key role in shaping the neighborhood’s next chapter through a three-project condominium pipeline.  The developments include 72 Park, which was completed in March 2025, PALMA Miami Beach Residences, which is currently under construction and halfway sold and the ultra-luxurious 72 Carlyle, designed by acclaimed designer Piero Lissoni. Panelists highlighted the neighborhood's walkability, cultural institutions like the Miami Beach Bandshell and Byron Carlyle Theater, and access to some of South Florida’s most scenic beachfront. They also pointed to North Beach’s expanding culinary scene, marked by recent openings such as Ezio’s, the Italian-inspired steakhouse located on the ground floor of 72 Park. 72 Carlyle will rise 20 stories and feature interiors by Italian designer Piero Lissoni and his U.S.-based firm, Lissoni Architecture New York. Following the success of 72 Park and the continued progress of PALMA Miami Beach Residences, the project reflects Lefferts’ broader effort to elevate North Beach living. Sales at 72 Carlyle are led by Fredrik Eklund of the Eklund | Gomes Team at Douglas Elliman Development Marketing, with residences priced from the $900,000s. By ML Staff. • Inside Wynwood's Lina Cerrone Gallery: A Home for International Voices and Miami Energy

Tucked into the heart of Miami's Wynwood Arts District, Lina Cerrone Gallery has quietly become one of the city's most compelling stops for collectors and art lovers alike. Co-founded by visionaries Lina Cerrone and Fredric Lean, the gallery is a sanctuary of international contemporary art that connects global perspectives with Miami's dynamic cultural pulse. At its core, the gallery champions a roster of artists it represents exclusively and permanently, a testament to deep, ongoing support for their evolving practices. Among these are French and Miami favorites whose work have defined key moments in the gallery’s exhibition program. Véronique Barrillot: Vision and Perception in Motion French artist Véronique Barrillot  is one of the gallery’s cornerstone talents. Known internationally as a pioneer of quantum painting , Barrillot’s works explore the intersection of art and physics, inviting viewers to experience shifting perceptions as they move around the canvas. Her layered technique—where multiple states coexist and transform with perspective—pushes the boundaries of visual engagement. Barrillot’s work has featured prominently in major gallery exhibitions in Wynwood and beyond. Bastien Soleil: The Poetic Depths of Photography Bringing a lyrical dimension to the gallery’s program is Bastien Soleil , the French photographer whose underwater imagery has captivated audiences worldwide. Soleil’s work, part photographic mastery and part artistic exploration, reveals the interplay between light, form and movement beneath the surface. His U.S. premiere exhibition in Miami marked a highpoint in the gallery’s calendar and introduced local audiences to his poetic visual language. Patrick Penkwitt: Miami’s Own Imaginative Storyteller Local favorites have a strong presence here too, none more so than Patrick Penkwitt , a Miami-based artist with roots in photography and a fluid transition into narrative painting. Penkwitt’s work resonates with whimsy and emotional depth, blending surreal figures, dynamic color and unexpected references that make each canvas feel like a visual story. His imaginative exhibitions have become staples in the gallery’s lineup, reflecting Miami’s own creative spirit alongside global contemporary voices. Christiane Chiavazza: Sculptural Poise and Abstract Expression Rounding out the gallery’s permanent roster is Christiane Chiavazza , whose sculptural practice and abstract sensibilities bring a unique three-dimensional voice to the space. Chiavazza’s work often investigates form, texture and material poise, producing pieces that feel both grounded and expressive. Her presence in the gallery underscores Lina Cerrone’s commitment to diverse artistic modes, from photography and painting to sculpture. What sets Lina Cerrone Gallery apart is not just the prestige of its artists, but its ongoing dedication to presenting them in meaningful, context-rich exhibitions . Whether through solo showcases, thematic group shows or events tied to major cultural moments like Miami Art Week, the gallery positions Wynwood as a place where global creativity and local energy meet. For collectors, creatives, and visitors alike, a stop here offers a window into how international contemporary art is evolving—and how Miami continues to shape that conversation. By ML Staff. • VISU Contemporary: A Rising Powerhouse Gallery with a Major New Show by Rubem Robierb

Fresh off its acclaimed David LaChapelle exhibition, VISU Contemporary  continues to assert itself as one of Miami’s most dynamic and ambitious contemporary art galleries. With its newest exhibition, Roots to Fly  by visual poet and conceptual aartist Rubem Robierb , VISU once again demonstrates its commitment to emotionally resonant, conceptually rich work that speaks both personally and globally. On view February 5 through March 15, 2026 , Roots to Fly  is an immersive journey through memory, identity and imagination. The exhibition arrives at a significant moment for Robierb, whose design was recently selected as Miami’s Official Host City Poster for the FIFA World Cup 2026 , further cementing his influence within the city’s cultural landscape. Brazilian-born and Miami-based, Robierb draws deeply from his childhood in Maranhão, Brazil , transforming autobiography into a universal meditation on origin and possibility. The exhibition’s title encapsulates its central metaphor: roots —the histories and experiences that ground us—and wings —the inner force that allows reinvention, resilience and flight. Together, they form a poetic reflection on how understanding where we come from can empower where we are going. The exhibition features nearly 30 works  spanning sculpture, painting and mixed media. Among its most striking pieces is a smaller-scale version of The Winged Canoe , a sculptural work depicting a young boy—modeled after the artist himself at five years old—traveling through a dreamlike landscape. The child holds a lamp, symbolizing the inner light we must protect and never allow to dim. The original monumental version of the canoe, measuring five meters long, was first presented in Robierb’s debut exhibition in Brazil in 2025, making its presence at VISU both intimate and significant. With Roots to Fly , VISU Contemporary continues to solidify its position as a leading platform for artists whose work bridges personal narrative with universal themes. The gallery’s programming consistently favors depth, ambition and emotional clarity—qualities that resonate strongly within Miami’s evolving art scene. As VISU Contemporary builds on a growing roster of impactful exhibitions, Roots to Fly  stands as both a defining moment for the gallery and a powerful reflection on the human capacity to honor the past while imagining new futures. • How Miami-Based Songwriter Whilly Bermudez Is Building Momentum

Miami is a city shaped by sound. From club culture to cultural crossover, music here reflects movement, precision, and influence. For songwriter and composer Whilly Bermudez , that environment mirrors how he approaches his work – with focus, consistency, and attention to craft. Based in South Florida, Bermudez has been steadily building a growing catalog of original songs across EDM, Latin, country, and dance music. Rather than chasing trends, his work centers on structure, melody, and repeatable songwriting fundamentals. “I’ve always believed the writing has to hold up on its own,” Bermudez says. “If the song works at its core, everything else becomes easier.” Starting With the Song Every track Bermudez writes begins from scratch. Lyrics are entirely original, melodies are developed deliberately, and structure is established before production enters the process. If a song doesn’t stand on its own in a stripped-down form, it doesn’t move forward. “That filter saves time and keeps the work consistent,” he explains. This approach allows his music to move fluidly across genres without losing clarity or direction. Growing Listener Response As Bermudez continues releasing music, listener response has grown steadily. His songs are seeing repeat listens, organic engagement, and continued traction across streaming platforms – signals that the work is resonating beyond a single release cycle. Rather than focusing on short-term metrics, Bermudez pays attention to retention. “If people come back to the music, that matters,” he says. A Notable Local Credit Most recently, Whilly created a jingle for the University of Miami Sports Programs called “The U”  — a project that reflects growing trust in his songwriting ability and his connection to South Florida’s creative ecosystem. The assignment required translating energy, identity, and tradition into a concise musical form – a skillset closely aligned with songwriting discipline. Human Performance Matters Vocals remain central to Bermudez’s work. He collaborates primarily with freelance singers, allowing different voices to bring nuance and interpretation to his compositions. AI technology is only used in initial arrangement testing and not for commissioned works. “A song changes when someone performs it,” he notes. “That’s where it becomes complete.” Building a Catalog With more than fifty released tracks and additional material in development, Bermudez views songwriting as a cumulative practice. Each release contributes to a broader body of work shaped by consistency and refinement. “I’m focused on the long arc,” he says. “The catalog tells the story.” WBSongs.com   Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1pjWGpZExFPhiyrWPrvt5L Apple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/whilly-bermudez/1853472398 Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/artists/B0G2LKLDMM/whilly-bermudez Pandora: https://www.pandora.com/artist/whilly-bermudez/ARg6gjzZl2ffnf4 Socials: Instagram / YouTube / Facebook / Tiktok / X By ML Staff
