February Happenings at The Bass: Immersive AI Exhibitions and Creative Family Workshops

The Bass Museum of Art has announced its February 2026 programming, featuring a mix of high-tech art discussions, teen exhibitions, and community workshops. The museum also recently hosted its major annual benefit, which celebrated local arts patronage and storytelling through the collection.

The Bass Ball: Kaleidoscopic Recap

The museum recently held its annual black-tie gala, The Bass Ball: Kaleidoscopic, honoring collector and arts patron Cathy Vedovi. The theme drew inspiration from the exhibition The Kaleidoscopic: Writing Histories Through the Collection, exploring the evolving nature of storytelling. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour with jazz by Miami Jazz Booking and dinner by Le Basque, followed by dancing with DJCLAUDIOF. The evening featured custom lighting by artist MIKIHUMO and supported the museum’s ongoing education programs.

The Bass Dialogues: Lawrence Lek

On Thursday, February 19, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the museum will host a discussion featuring artist Lawrence Lek and curator Claudia Mattos. The conversation will explore the cultural and ethical implications of artificial intelligence, framed around Lek’s site-specific installation, Lawrence Lek: NOX Pavilion. The exhibition envisions a fictional therapy center for sentient, self-driving cars, exploring the emotional dimensions of technology.

Youth and Teen Opportunities

Several deadlines and programs for young artists are approaching this month:

  • Teen Art Exhibition: Creative teens in the Miami region have until Sunday, February 8, to submit works exploring the theme of "Time".

  • Homeless Sensitivity Contest: The deadline for the annual poster and essay contest, themed "Hope and Youth Homelessness," is February 6.

  • Bass Babies: A weekly sensory and art program for children ages 2 to 4 continues every Thursday through April 30.

Community and Family Workshops

On February 14, the museum will host a free Art Cares workshop from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.. The session focuses on "Eco Art Therapy Terrariums" and is designed to help families address the climate crisis through creativity. Pre-registration is required as space is limited to 15 seats.

Current Exhibitions

Ongoing exhibitions available for viewing this month include:
