- Frost Science Hosts Laser Evening Featuring ABBA, Lady Gaga and Queen on June 12
The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami will host a Laser Evening in the Frost Planetarium on Friday, June 12, featuring music from several major pop and rock acts. The event will present laser light shows set to songs by ABBA, Lady Gaga and Queen, along with a new Laser Pride program, inside the planetarium’s 67-foot dome. Attendees can purchase tickets online ahead of the show. Admission is priced at $15 per adult and $12 per child ages 4 to 11. Museum members receive a 20% discount on all Laser Evening shows when logged in to their member account. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to purchase refreshments and light snacks in the Main Atrium, available until 10:00 p.m. Onsite parking is offered in the museum garage for a flat rate of $8 starting at 6:00 p.m., with all vehicles required to exit by 12:00 a.m. Each Laser Evening show requires a separate ticket, online sales close one hour before showtime and onsite purchases are available up to 15 minutes before each show. Laser show admission includes laser glasses but does not include museum admission, and museum exhibitions close at 6:00 p.m. Organizers note that laser shows contain bright, flashing lights that may affect visitors with light sensitivity or certain medical conditions. Miami-Dade County is urging residents, artists, and cultural organizations to review their emergency plans as the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, providing a range of tools and guidance to support preparedness before, during, and after storms. County Readiness Guides and Cultural Resources The Miami-Dade County Hurricane Readiness portal and guide consolidates local storm preparation information, including recommended actions before, during, and after a storm, as well as guidance on the activation of evacuation centers. Access the portal for detailed instructions and updates. Residents can also use the Hurricane Door Hanger, a visual tool that helps identify households needing assistance after a storm, which is available to download and print here. For artists and nonprofit arts organizations, the Arts & Business Council of Miami and CERF+ Craft Emergency Relief Fund offer emergency-planning guides and contacts tailored to the cultural sector. Miami-Dade County provides additional cultural preparedness tools, including a hurricane guide for organizations and a countywide resource guide for 2026–2027, available for organizations and as a resource guide. Permanent Tax Exemptions and Planning Tools Florida now offers a permanent sales tax exemption on select hurricane and emergency supplies, including batteries, portable generators, fire extinguishers, tarps, life jackets, insect repellent, and carbon monoxide detectors. Residents and visitors can also sign up for Miami-Dade County Alerts, a free system that delivers emergency texts and emails about public safety issues, weather advisories, and recommended protective actions.
