  • Miami-Based Art & Hope with Artist Sacha Jafri & Ikonick Gallery Auction Art Box for $300K

Art & Hope, together with Global Gift Foundation has partnered with world renowned, Guinness World Record artist Sacha Jafri, Ikonick Gallery and Hatt et Söner to create the project "Sacha Jafri: The Power of the Reconnected World, inspired by Ikonick." Art & Hope was founded in 2021 by the creative agency Zenith Art & Fashion. It is an innovative initiative that partners with the Arts to bring hope to people in need, producing special projects and events to help raise funds for various humanitarian causes. Art & Hope also collaborates with celebrities and influencers to raise awareness around the world for the respective causes they support. The first project of Art & Hope, “The Power of the Reconnected World,” consists of 100 handcrafted 2’ x 2’ x 16’ walnut-wooden boxes, which encase several exclusive items from the different partners involved in the project. The Art Boxes include one of Jafri’s original pieces of the painting he created for this initiative, which was cut into 100 different pieces for each box; an exclusive Omnes bottle of Hatt et Söner Champagne, also hand-painted and signed by Jafri, a Hatt et Söner exclusive Members Only card, which gives the collectors the unique opportunity to have their own vintage champagne collection; a silver sculpture created by Ikonick Gallery in collaboration with Sacha Jafri, encrusted with semi-precious stones; and a collector’s book, which tells the story of the project and everyone involved. Sacha Jafri's work has been shown in the most prominent art institutions across the globe. He is described as ‘The Pioneer of Magical Realism’ and undoubtedly this century's true zeitgeist, bringing painting with raw emotion back to the forefront of the art world. Jafri ìs The Journey of Humanity, which holds the Guinness World Record for the largest art canvas, recently sold one of its central pieces for $62 million during a live auction in March 2021 at Atlantis – The Palm in Dubai, making it the second most expensive painting ever sold by a living artist. Jafri painted this ground-breaking canvas at the Atlantis, The Palm’s expansive ballroom over a seven-month period, 20 hours a day during COVID-19, to raise crucial funds to support children around the world who are most affected by the pandemic. To date, Jafri has reached over three billion people in 140 countries worldwide with the largest artistic, social, and philanthropic initiative in history. He’s also raised over $140 million for charity spanning across his 25-year career. Jafri is one of the world’s top eight sellers of physical artworks, in order now reads as follows: Jeff Koons, David Hockney, Sacha Jafri, Gerard Richeter, Lucian Freud, Peter Doig, Damien Hirst and Jasper Johns. Art & Hope’s first project follows Jafri's humanitarian mission to raise funds to help the most impoverished children in the world, through highly coveted private events, galas, and auctions in major international cities. The first star-studded Global Gift Gala, kicked off this August in Marbella, Spain, raising a staggering $300,000 US dollars with the sale of just the first Art Box ever produced for the project. This sale set the bar high for the remaining limited- edition boxes that will be sold in live auctions across the world including, London, Paris, Japan and Abu Dhabi, and Art & Hope Gala at Ikonick Gallery during Art Basel Miami this December, to name a few. Supporters of this project will also help many of the causes under the Global Gift Foundation umbrella, including Casa Global Gift, a day center for children with special needs, Harmony House India, an NGO founded in 2009 dedicated to rescuing homeless children in Gurgaon (India), and The Quang Chau Foundation, a non-profit organization that houses homeless children that have been abandoned, offering them food, medical care, education and everything they may need for their care. Art & Hope has also partnered with the world-famous, Colombian Michelin Star and celebrity Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos, better known as “Chef Juanma,” owner of El Cielo Restaurants to create The Art & Hope Dish to be served at each event. In Marbella, he presented the Yucca Gnocchi entree, inspired by Jafri’s painting, which combines the four elements of nature in a way that also allows it to portray many of Colombia’s wonders. Also during Art & Hope’s kickoff presentation at the Global Gift Gala in Marbella, Skolnick and Chef Juanma received the Global Gift Philanthropreneur awards for their humanitarian journey, and support to the Global Gift Foundation over the years. "Art has the power to inspire, educate, and create awareness, bringing about social change. Through this project of Art & Hope, people from all over the world will be brought together, each holding a special piece of the puzzle,” says Cid de Diego, CEO of Zenith Art & Fashion. “In the wake of the pandemic, our goal is to add color and bring hope to those in need through the Arts, and to reconnect the world during such a divisive and trying time,” adds Fakinos, COO of Zenith Art & Fashion. THE ART BOX: A ONE-OF-A-KIND COLLECTION These key art pieces will be encased in a limited production of only 100 Boxes. The contents include: The Painting: Jafri’s work created specifically for “The Power of the Reconnected World, inspired by IKONICK”, cut into 100 pieces. Each piece is set in an Art Box. The collectors of these Art Boxes will become part of an exclusive group of 100 people around the world that will own one piece of the puzzle. The Bottle of Champagne: Exclusive Champagne House Hatt & Söner, who recently sponsored the AMFAR Gala in Cannes, has created this Vintage Champagne Omnes collection exclusively for this project. The Oscar de la Renta Fall/Winter 2021 collection is a tribute to late summer, when sunflowers and wildflowers radiate in glorious full bloom. The collection has its origins in flowers gathered and pressed in collaboration with artist Tricia Paoluccio. Tailored jackets and dresses are highlighted by a round scoop neck and embellished with metallic belts and ornamental buttons. Tone-on-tone color-blocking reigns for daywear in knits and crepe, elegant in an end-of-summer palette in muted shades of lavender, mint green, turquoise, and saffron. Market flowers wrapped in craft paper and tied with raffia ribbon are the muse behind the concept, with bows rendered in crepe, taffeta, metallics, and crystal. The collection reaches a crescendo with a tulle ball gown, ablaze with crystalized bows and featuring an open back and high neck. Distinctively, ethereally feminine, this spectacular creation was 120 hours in the making and is the definitive Oscar de la Renta statement. • Lalique's 2021 Gaïa Collection

LALIQUE, the French glassmaker founded by renowned glassmaker and jeweller René LALIQUE in 1888, introduces the Gaïa collection. In Greek mythology, Gaïa is the goddess of Earth, revered as mother, nurturer, and giver of life. The collection pays homage to Mother Earth and resonates as an invitation to respect, appreciate and marvel at the many wonders provided by nature. With nature as the golden thread, Lalique revisits its own history and revises its iconic motifs. The crystal manufacturer draws on its own DNA to offer a new perspective and reinvent itself. Thus, the famous Blackbirds and Grapes motifs that travelled on board the mythical Orient-Express find new expression in vases and bowls with timeless lines. Thanks to the talent of its artists and the exceptional expertise of its glass masters, Lalique captures the ornamental and symbolic power of vines and blackberries. The precision of the designs, the purity of the crystal and the play on reflections and transparency give birth to exquisite decorative objects. The Gaïa collection features Merles & Raisins decorative panels, originally created in pressed glass on a silver background, Mûres vases exhibiting an abundance of berries with satin-finished crystal highlights, Versailles decanter featuring a frieze of grapes and vine leaves and the Merlot collection composed of a decanter and a universal glass, intended for the sophisticated wine connoisseurs. The Gaïa collection also includes playful objects such as the Lalique Kitten and greyhounds. For more info visit www.lalique.com/en. • Food for Thought: Fat & Sugar-Heavy Diet is Harmful to the Brain & Causes You to Eat More

Do you eat only when you’re actually hungry? Many of us eat even when our bodies don’t need food. Just the thought of food entices us to eat. We think about food when we see other people eating, when we pass a favorite fast-food restaurant, when we see a scrumptious snack near the check-out at a convenience store. In addition, we’re the targets of sophisticated advertising techniques designed to keep thoughts of food and the pleasures of eating almost constantly in our minds. Obviously, overeating unhealthy foods can lead to overweight. But looking beyond direct effects on expanding waistlines, our lab studies how mental functioning is related to diet. We’ve found a troubling link between a fat-rich diet common in the West and brain-related ailments that can actually impair our ability to avoid overeating. Fatter and fatter Many scientists believe that societal factors, such as advertising, have combined to create an environment in which the temptations to eat have overwhelmed our body’s natural biological ability to control what and how much we consume. The result is that in the United States, two-thirds of adults, and more than one third of children and adolescents, are now overweight or obese. This trend is spreading to other countries all over the world. Even worse, diseases that are associated with excess body weight – such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems – are also becoming more prevalent. At the core of the problem is the fact that many of the foods we can’t seem to resist are unhealthy. Some of the most attractive and popular foods in our current environment contain high amounts of saturated fats – high levels are found in red meats and dairy products like ice cream and butter. This type of diet is consumed by so many people in the US and other western societies that it is often called the “western diet.” No wonder obesity has become such a problem. Beyond bellies to brains Over the past several years, many scientists have reported that consuming a western diet and gaining excess body weight may have harmful effects on the brains of both human and nonhuman animals. For example, some research suggests that middle-aged adults who are overweight and obese are at greater risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease and other types of late-life cognitive dementias compared to people of normal weight. The results of other studies suggest that even children as young as seven years of age may suffer certain types of memory impairments as a consequence of consuming too much of a western diet and accumulating too much body fat. Much information about the nature of the effects of western diets on the brain comes from studies with rats and mice. Research in our lab and elsewhere has repeatedly shown that feeding rats a diet with levels of saturated fat and sugar much like those in the human western diet weakens the blood-brain barrier (BBB). The BBB is a system of cells and membranes that form tight junctions to prevent harmful agents that circulate in the bloodstream from entering the brain. Feeding rats a western-style diet weakens those tight junctions and thereby allows potentially harmful substances to pass into the brain. By Terry Davidson and Camille Sample. • Build the Body You Want: While Keeping Fitness Fun & Avoiding Plateaus

Everyone’s journey into fitness is personal and unique….and my story is no exception. Any moment or activity can spark inspiration, and mine began in a swimming pool. In 1993 I was living in Italy and training as a water polo player. One day, I noticed on the other side of the pool there was a Jazzercise class, which peaked my interest as something new and different. I started to take the Jazzercise classes more, and quickly added them to my fitness routine. One fateful day, the Jazzercise instructor didn’t show up to teach the class. As a joke I decided to lead the class…but this was the moment that started my path into fitness and athletic aerobics. I received my first Certification at 16 years old, and one year later I was teaching step classes. Gradually I entered the sport of competitive aerobics throughout European Capitals, and became globally recognized for my athleticism. Most of my competitions were featured on ESPN. My international awards and global status as an athlete started to gain attention in the United States, and soon I was invited to the U.S. to continue my fitness journey. My career at Crunch began in 2007. I held roles as Fitness Instructor, Ride Coordinator, and gradually became the Group Fitness Director and Master Trainer. Even though my career at Crunch was excelling, I never wanted my personal education about fitness to stop. I continued to learn, and earned over 20+ Certifications. This belief in keeping the fun in fitness is what’s lead to my topic; “Build the body you want while keeping fitness fun and avoiding plateaus.” The hardest part to any fitness journey is the beginning. The best way to start is to remember the basics; posture and form. Laying the foundation for posture and form is commonly overlooked, which leads to injuries and fitness setbacks. The first step to building the body you want is to make sure you have good posture and form. Even the most experienced athlete can benefit from having a full movement and posture evaluation. Once this foundation is solid, the next step is understanding tempo and choosing correct weights for your body. Not understanding these important aspects to fitness is what will lead to plateauing. What leads to plateauing when working out on your own is using the same size weights. Not increasing weights is extremely common, since you become comfortable with the weight you know you can push yourself with. Always try to increase your weight, as this will avoid plateauing. Remember, when adding more weight still keep in mind correct posture and form. These are just some of the reasons why so much work is involved in curating and creating the correct programs and progressions for clients. Each body is different and unique. It’s important for clients to understand the “why” behind specific tempo and weights. Clients that tell me they want a “shredded” appearance often don’t achieve their desired result, because they don’t know how to adjust their program according to their needs. Never forget, always listen to your body. If your body is telling you it’s tired, don’t ignore this instinct. Depending on certain times of the month the body’s output could be less than regular. Don’t skip the workout entirely, instead make the proper modifications and adjustments to suit your current feeling. I teach all my clients that there needs to be a full balanced health and physical plan. This includes weight training, cardio, nutrition, supplementation, and rest. Yes, rest. On days clients are sore, I’ll have them do antigravity yoga classes, incorporate foam rolling, and utilize a Theragun to release myofascial pain. Having a diverse program will keep you the fittest. I recommend all my clients explore different cardio regiments like, Zumba, treadmill sprints, or cardio kickboxing. I teach all my clients balance, motivation, and fun. These are my core beliefs that I integrate into my fitness plans for clients. Everyone can benefit from the right professional assistance. Not only do you achieve quicker results, but having professional help provides consistency. Even on days you don’t feel motivated, or not in the right headspace, having your workout appointment already set provides accountability. When it comes to your fitness, there shouldn’t be any excuses. Everyone is capable of achieving their fitness goals. I’ve had clients that were unable or afraid to leave their homes at first. I’ve had clients that would only participate in group fitness, and never touch weights due to fears of looking “bulky” or afraid of injuries. With my help, they are now in the best shape of their lives. I helped them overcome their fears and introduced them to the right strength training and cardio workouts. I also work with clients who have injuries or muscle imbalances, and we work together on rehabbing, correcting form, targeting flexibility, and strengthening their bodies. During my fitness career, not just personally but also with clients, I’ve learned that as our bodies change we must stay open minded. This mental strength and openness is the key to any successful health and fitness journey. Aging is inevitable, and as our bodies change we can’t stick with the same workouts we’ve been used to for years. We have to adapt and grow. Crunch has given me the platform and home that extended my fitness journey through innovative, fun, inclusive, and alternate workouts. My clients and students stay engaged, and always look forward to their next workout. Not fear it. Ask yourself today, “What is my next step to be more well rounded in health and fitness?” I challenge you to step outside your current fitness plateau and find your fun in fitness!
