  • DashBar, The New Salon-Spa Concept, to Debut in Brickell this Fall

The latest and most innovative salon-spa, looking to make waves across the beauty industry, DashBar is pleased to announce the opening of its first location coming this fall to Brickell. Tailored for the modern woman, DashBar provides a collective beauty bar experience that will leave customers feeling and looking their best in half the time. Plus, DashBar is committed to using only products that are ethically-sourced, non-toxic, vegan and cruelty-free. At the core of its business model is their commitment to providing a quick and effective beauty salon experience, which is achieved through their patent-pending PollyDash™ chair. Featuring new technology, the chair allows your personal DashSquad to perform multiple services simultaneously, getting you ready in less time than it would take you to complete your regular beauty routine. Founded by female entrepreneur Carla Oliva, DashBar was conceived after Carla had to run to different salons for all her beauty needs before heading to a surprise vacation. That’s when Carla set out on a crusade to modernize the beauty service sector forever, by developing a more streamlined and productive approach to the traditional beauty salon experience. DashBar’s main objective is to meet the needs of its customers, or its DashBabes as Carla refers to them. Who is the DashBabe? The DashBabe is the woman on the go, juggling her career, family and/or social life that wants to look and feel her best, without compromising on the one thing she can’t buy, time. “I am so excited to introduce DashBar to Miami,” said company founder, Carla Oliva. “As a mother, wife and business woman, juggling it all, I realize how valuable time is in our everyday lives. My goal with DashBar was to create a one-stop-shop for women to get all their beauty services done under one roof, at the same time, in one chair, in a feel-good atmosphere, making for an effective and efficient salon experience.” At DashBar, you can get up to three services done at the same time, performed in a PollyDash chair. Choose from a variety of beauty services, including regular and gel manicures and pedicures, blow drys in different styles, such as the “Beach Babe,” an effortlessly tousled beach wave look or the “Flirty Girl,” flat iron curls for a sultrier look to name a few. DashBar also has a number of facials, a few standouts include: the “Cryoskin Facial,” a natural, non-invasive way to look younger and more radiant, using cool temperatures to increase blood flow and help boost collagen production; the “Sunlight Bright Facial,” a naturally sourced bio-active treatment that stimulates increased collagen synthesis and epidermal density while providing powerful brightening benefits; and the “South Beach Facial,” which reduces fine lines, improves skin texture and immediately plumps the skin. DashBar is dedicated to providing sustainable beauty practices, sourcing products that are ethically made, natural, vegan and cruelty-free. Proudly carrying beauty brands that share their same ethical ethos, such as Pai, Patchology, and vegan hair care line Maria Nila. DashBar will launch their own branded product line, called DashBeauty in the coming months. DashBar will be strictly following the City of Miami’s health and safety guidelines, going above and beyond standard sanitation guidelines by studying what has been recommended nationally, and has also had their safety procedures reviewed by a medical expert, Dr. Yana Delkhah, MD, a practicing emergency room doctor in New York. In addition to adopting rigorous safety protocols, DashBar will be implementing a new sanitation fogging system, a UVC light in their HVAC system, and Aroma 360’s Airbiotech, which restores probiotics nightly after fogging. Furthermore, the salon-spa has been designed specifically with social distancing measures in place, with each station strategically placed more than six feet of space apart in semi-private to private rooms. For a complete list of all the official safety measures that will be implemented at DashBar please visit their website here. Spanning 2,700 square feet of space, DashBar will be designed with a feminine look and feel in mind, and will be located at 25 SW 9th Street Mezzanine 101, Miami, FL 33130. DashBar is set to open this fall. Its hours of operation are as follows: Tuesday - Saturday from 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM; and Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. • Breakthrough Miami Receives 2-Year $100,000 Grant from New York Life Foundation

The New York Life Foundation in partnership with the Afterschool Alliance announced a 2-year, $100,000 “Aim High” grant to be awarded to Breakthrough Miami. The grant program is focused on supporting middle school students as they transition to 9th grade. One of only eight organizations nationally to receive funding in this category, Breakthrough Miami will use this grant to support the implementation of a new Scholar Success Plan initiative designed to: Ensure middle school Scholars are enrolled and succeeding in academic courses that provide appropriate levels of rigor and challenge and aligned with their academic goals. Foster greater understanding, ownership, and initiative among Scholars for their educational pathway to high school, by setting vision and goals, developing academic plans, and engaging in systematic academic guidance. Serve as a bridge between BTM’s existing “School Options” counseling in 5th and 8th grade which supports Scholar application processes to middle and high schools respectively, to more effectively support Scholar’s academic transitions. Position Scholars for the transition to 9th grade and success in rigorous high school. “Since our inaugural Breakthrough Miami class of 40 middle school students in 1991, we continue to ensure motivated yet underserved students have equitable access to excellent educational resources, experiences, and opportunities,” said Lori-Ann Cox, CEO of Breakthrough Miami. “Through our Scholar Success Plan initiative, we are embedding a student-centered approach to academic planning to empower students to create and track their pathway towards a successful transition to 9th grade and beyond, fully maximizing their abilities, interests, talents, and aspirations.” Research has shown that for under-resourced students, the additional learning time in the form of high-quality out-of-school-time (OST) learning programs, including after school, expanded day, and summer programs, leads to greater academic achievement, better school attendance, and higher engagement. Further, a successful transition to 9th grade is particularly critical to student success. Aim High is part of the New York Life Foundation’s ongoing investment in OST programs to aid disadvantaged 8th graders reach the 9th grade on time and prepare for high school. Afterschool, summer, and expanded learning programs nationwide are chosen for grants through a review process run in collaboration with the Afterschool Alliance. Winners were selected based on the power of their support for youth in transition to ninth grade – regarding success as on-time graduation, school attendance rates, improved behavior, grades, and test scores – by a committee comprised of individuals from the New York Life Foundation and youth development specialists whose organizations are members of the Afterschool Alliance. “Students and families are facing immense hardships as a result of COVID-19 and they need additional academic and social-emotional support now more than ever,” said Marlyn Torres, senior program officer, New York Life Foundation. “Middle school students benefit greatly from the support and engagement opportunities provided by afterschool and summer programs, so these programs must have the funding and flexibility to continue this important work.” As an integral part of the first virtual Summer Institute, Breakthrough Miami has launched the Scholar Success Plans across all middle school grade levels, supporting students in goal-setting and academic planning by way of small groups and one on one coaching sessions. Across the country, OST programs have shown to lead to greater academic achievement, better school attendance and higher engagement, increased resilience among young people and supported positive youth development. The 2-Year, $100,000 Grant will help Breakthrough Miami continue to support youth in enhanced ways ultimately helping them successfully transition to high school. Given the expanding needs of families and students in response to the pandemic, Breakthrough Miami’s evidence-based model is mitigating the impact of lost instructional time and an exacerbated learning loss now referred to as “COVID-slide.” New data from the Afterschool Alliance that shows 75 percent of afterschool programs are at risk of closing permanently or laying off staff due to funding losses during the pandemic. As a result, the Foundation is allowing these and all other Aim High grantees the flexibility to use their funding as needed to support their overall work. For a complete list of this year's grant recipients, visit here. ABOUT BREAKTHROUGH MIAMI Breakthrough Miami uses a unique “students-teaching-students” model to create a rigorous, vibrant learning community, where highly motivated, traditionally underrepresented 5th-12th grade students are supported to achieve post-secondary success and emerging leaders are inspired to become the next generation of educators and advocates. Serving 1300 Scholars, 130 Teaching Fellows, and over 400 Volunteers, Breakthrough Miami is positioned as an Opportunity Generator in our community, empowering students to catch their dreams and advancing an inclusive cycle of promise and prosperity. Founded in 1991, the Breakthrough Miami program operates throughout the school year on Saturdays and for six (6) weeks in the summer at six host site school campuses which include leading independent schools: Ransom Everglades School, Gulliver Schools, Miami Country Day School, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, and Palmer Trinity School, as well as the University of Miami. • Why Charlize Theron Has No Interest in Dating Right Now

Charlize Theron is single and has no interest in mingling. For an interview with E!'s own Scott Tweedie, The Old Guard actress gave an update on her love life or, by her choice, lack thereof. "I really do believe that women really…make s--t happen for ourselves," the 44-year-old Oscar winner exclusively told Scott. "And I think this idea of relationships, sometimes we approach…or society approach them in the sense of like, 'Obviously, that is something that you need and want.' And that's really not been the case for me." Charlize recently made headlines after she shut down rumors that she almost married actor and director Sean Penn during their courtship. She told those tuning into The Howard Stern Show that engagement rumors were "such bulls--t" as they dated "barely a year." Charlize went on to assure listeners that she's "never been lonely" and called her children, Jackson, 8, and August, 3, the "great loves of my life." She expressed a similar point to E! viewers as she added, "I don't feel like I'm missing out on something in my life, it's just not something that I'm looking out for right now." Although the blonde A-lister isn't actively seeking a significant other, she is open to the idea of having a partner. "I think that time will come," she relayed. However, Charlize theorized that even if she did meet "the love of my life," he'd have to live in a "house down the street." In fact, Charlize expressed approval of Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk's previous separate living arrangement. "I remember when Gwyneth Paltrow married her husband Brad and they lived in separate homes and people made such a stink about it," she said. "And I was like, 'That's my kind of relationship!'" Speaking of relationships Charlize also revealed which of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars she'd like to be friends with. "I'm kind of like, re-watching a lot of the Beverly Hills right now and I just realized I have such an appreciation for Erika Jayne," she declared. "I would like to have lunch with that girl. I really dig her." Same, Charlize, same. Ironically, fellow The Old Guard star KiKi Layne expressed a similar sentiment about Charlize. On being able to work the action movie legend, KiKi said she was "amazed and grateful" for the opportunity. "It is an action-drama and Charlize has already done so many incredible things in that genre—that often leaves women out of the conversation of being the lead and being the kickass character," the 28-year-old actress, who joined Charlize for the interview, said. "I was excited about the opportunity to get this introduction into action with someone who has this experience, but then also just an incredible actress and artist." The Old Guard is out now on Netflix. Watch Daily Pop weekdays at 12:30 p.m., only on E! By ML Staff. Courtesy of E!

  • Due to Spike of COVID-19 Cases, Rising Tide Car Wash Offers Complimentary Interior Disinfectant

For the health and safety of its customers and employees, Rising Tide Car Wash ― a groundbreaking social enterprise with a primary mission to employ adults with autism ― is now offering COVID-19 cleaning protocols to enhance its existing Sanitize and Shine service. The new Interior Disinfecting Service (IDS) includes fogging the interior with PURTABS, an EPA List N-registered hospital grade interior disinfectant, that kills COVID-19 and eliminates a variety of viruses and bacteria. Due to the increase of COVID-19 cases, all customers purchasing an interior wash at both Rising Tide’s Parkland and Margate locations will now receive a complimentary Interior Disinfectant Service with the purchase of all interior services through Aug. 15. Rising Tide and its employees, most of whom are individuals with autism, are providing the PURTABS service to give back to the community ― to provide the peace of mind of health and safety to their customers. The service entails: 1) Applying PURTABS hospital grade disinfectant to all interior surfaces. High-touch areas include the steering wheel, gear shifter, seat belt, push-button start, cup holders, door handles inside and out, key fobs and keys. 2) PURTABS is then fogged into vehicles (including cargo areas upon request), killing COVID-19 on interior surfaces. The solution circulates for one minute. 3) Completing standard interior cleaning. 4) Disinfecting all high-touch surfaces again. All interior cleaning products are made by EarthSafe, using cutting-edge chemistry that utilizes HOCL instead of bleach or peroxide. This makes them sustainable, biodegradable and completely safe for people, surfaces and the planet. “At Rising Tide Car Wash, we are adjusting our services for the ‘new normal’ by providing this new disinfectant feature,” said John D’Eri, CEO of Rising Tide Car Wash. “As a social enterprise, we have always been socially responsible. With the current COVID-19 crisis, we are taking our social responsibility to the next level by implementing this service at no cost to keep our customers and employees healthy and safe.” John D’Eri, and his son Thomas D’Eri, COO of Rising Tide Car Wash, co-founded Rising Tide Car Wash to develop a scalable solution to employing individuals with autism. They were inspired to do this by watching John’s son and Thomas’ brother Andrew, a vibrant young man with autism, struggle to find his place in the world. Now with approximately 90 employees, Rising Tide Car Wash is one of the largest employers of people with autism in the U.S. Currently, unemployment among people with autism is approximately 90 percent, and at least 500,000 more individuals with autism will enter the workforce in the next decade. The D’Eris are striving to change the root cause of this unemployment: society views autism as a disability opposed to a diversity. Rising Tide has been honored with the U.S. Senate Small Business of the Week designation; The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), Blind Services, and Vocational Rehabilitation’s Florida Exceptional Employers designation; Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation Leader in Adult Autism Award, Community Service Leadership Award from the International Carwash Association® (ICA), Employer of the Year by the Autism Society, Small Business of the Year by South Florida Business Connection, the Autism Society’s Adam Heavner Memorial Award for Employer of the Year, TEDxCoconutGrove’s Hope Prize, and more. • Diesel Enlists 5,000+ Real Estate Agents

DIESEL unveils a new initiative that has resulted in most probably the largest single enlisting of real estate agents in the world. In an internal announcement made today, any of the 5,000 Diesel employees globally has the potential to make a commission off a residential sale at the new Diesel Wynwood Condominium in Miami, Florida. Located in Miami’s vibrant Wynwood neighborhood, the Diesel Wynwood Condominium is restarting its selling program (sales were temporarily put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic) after the successful opening back in December 2019 with “The Condo T-shirts–The Most Expensive T-Shirts Ever” campaign. And what better a network to find fans of the DIESEL lifestyle than through the company’s global workforce? All it takes is a simple email: an employee may send a quick message introducing a potential buyer (or buyers) to Bel Invest, DIESEL’s real estate partner behind the project. If that prospective buyer ends up purchasing a unit, the employee will keep 3% of the unit’s total sale value. With residences ranging from USD $370,000 to $5,500,000, commissions stand to be up to USD $165,000. “Diesel is more than a lifestyle brand, it is a state of mind that is reflected in the Diesel Wynwood Condominium project. And the ‘inhabitants’ of the Diesel Planet are the best ambassadors to transfer the true DNA of this initiative. Already 25 years ago, when I bought our first property in Miami, the Pelican Hotel, I asked my whole team to be part of the redesign of the hotel and the result is still outstanding and relevant today. The Diesel Wynwood Condominium apartments are a compendium of our brand’s essence and our global design inspiration, the perfect dwelling for an urban, style-conscious nomad”, comments Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel. The interior design behind the 143 apartments of Diesel Wynwood Condominium reflects the values and the distinctive style of DIESEL LIVING, and it was conceived under the creative guide of Andrea Rosso, Licenses and Upcycling Creative Director and Diesel Sustainability Ambassador, who helps bring to life the vision of the company founder. A dramatic and luxurious space of comfort and cutting-edge design, Diesel Wynwood presents a vision of what modern metropolitan life can be with a light-filled residence guided by nature and well-being, including a contemporary pool, gym, meditation room, meeting space, and an expansive, open-space lobby with an art gallery zone, plus a courtyard jungle of tropical plants for residents.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) have compiled a plan with infectious disease specialists to ensure that precaution will be taken in order to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks between the teams. Many players have already contracted the virus and have fully recovered, while some are still amidst coronavirus side-effects. The NBA has even gone so far that they have released visual pictures laying out the court of where players will be sitting alongside the court, social distancing involved. More specifically the NBA specified that "Teams are permitted up to 17 players in Orlando, including 14 or 15 players on a standard NBA contract and additional two-way spots."
