  • Palazzo Ripetta: Where History, Art & Contemporary Luxury Meet in Rome

My stay at Palazzo Ripetta reminded me that Rome is much more than a city of famous landmarks. Around every corner are layers of history, from ancient Roman ruins and Renaissance palaces to Baroque churches and remarkable works of art. Whether you spend your day visiting the Pantheon, tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain, or strolling through Villa Borghese, the city constantly reveals another story. History Meets Hospitality Palazzo Ripetta reflects that same spirit. Housed in a building dating back to 1642, the property began as a shelter and school for women and girls before being transformed into a hotel during the 1960s under the direction of renowned Italian architect Luigi Moretti. Today, the family-owned five-star hotel blends its historic roots with contemporary design and an impressive private art collection. Located in Rome's Campo Marzio neighborhood, the hotel is within walking distance of the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza del Popolo, and Villa Borghese, making it an excellent base for exploring the Eternal City on foot. Art & Design The moment I entered the lobby, I was welcomed by Arnaldo Pomodoro's monumental bronze sculpture, Sphere Within Sphere. It immediately set the tone for what followed: a thoughtful blend of history, contemporary art, and warm Italian hospitality. Just beyond the entrance, I found one of my favorite spaces in the hotel. The elegant lounge and library combine Neo-Art Deco architecture with touches that reminded me of Hollywood Regency style. White walls and light marble floors contrast beautifully with black lacquer details, jewel-toned velvet seating, gold accents, and an illuminated library filled with art books and carefully selected decorative objects. It is an inviting space whether you're reading, having a coffee, or simply taking a break from sightseeing. Rooms & Suites Although Palazzo Ripetta offers 78 rooms, including 21 suites, the hotel maintains an intimate atmosphere. My room combined classic Roman elegance with modern comforts through soft pastel tones, herringbone oak floors, custom millwork, and refined furnishings. Sage blue-green walls, teal fabrics, gold accents, and a crystal chandelier created a sophisticated yet welcoming space. I also appreciated the Frette linens, elegant wallpaper, and carefully selected decorative accessories that made the room feel residential rather than hotel-like. Historic Spaces One of the biggest surprises during my stay was discovering that Palazzo Ripetta is home to the 18th-century Salone Bernini. Originally consecrated as the Conservatory's church by Pope Benedict XIII, the space is now used for weddings, events, and special occasions. Before leaving, be sure to look up. The ceiling features Giacomo Triga's fresco The Triumph of Divine Providence, one of the property's most remarkable historical treasures. Another unexpected discovery awaits in the hotel's central courtyard, Piazzetta Ripetta. Surrounded by citrus trees and lush greenery, it became one of my favorite places to relax, especially during breakfast. Hidden in plain sight is a rare third-century Roman sarcophagus that has been transformed into an elegant fountain, another reminder that history is woven into nearly every corner of Rome. Dining Breakfast each morning offered everything I expect from a five-star hotel, with an extensive selection of fresh pastries, fruits, breads, cheeses, hot dishes, and Italian specialties. San Baylon Restaurant presents a contemporary interpretation of traditional Italian cuisine using seasonal ingredients, while the Lobby Bar provides an elegant setting for a cocktail or afternoon aperitivo. For panoramic views over Rome, I highly recommend visiting Etere, the hotel's rooftop bar and bistro. It is an ideal place to unwind after a day exploring the city while taking in the rooftops of the Eternal City. Wellness & Services Although compact, the fitness center is fully equipped and overlooks the peaceful courtyard. Guests also have access to wellness treatments, personal training sessions, cooking and wine tasting experiences, concierge services, private transfers, babysitting, laundry service, and 24-hour room service. The hotel also features five meeting rooms equipped with modern technology, along with the courtyard and terrace spaces, making it well suited for corporate events, weddings, and private celebrations. A Sustainable Stay Palazzo Ripetta has also demonstrated a commitment to sustainability by earning the internationally recognized Green Key certification, one of the hospitality industry's leading environmental certifications. Practical Information During my stay, I appreciated the attentive service and the hotel's central location, which allowed me to explore much of Rome on foot. Whether I was walking to Piazza del Popolo, Villa Borghese, the Pantheon, or the Trevi Fountain, I rarely needed transportation. Concierge services are available around the clock and can assist with restaurant reservations, private transfers, guided tours, and customized experiences throughout Rome. • Why Your Body Might Be Holding Onto Stress, And What You Can Do About It

We often think of stress as something that exists only in our minds. We tell ourselves we’ll feel better after a vacation, a good night’s sleep, or once life finally slows down. But what if your body is still carrying stress long after the stressful event has passed? Over more than three decades working with patients and practitioners around the world, I have come to believe that the body is remarkably intelligent. It is constantly communicating with us through sensations, symptoms, and signals. Pain, tension, fatigue, digestive issues, headaches, anxiety, and disrupted sleep are not always isolated problems to fix. They can be messages that your nervous system is asking for support. The Nervous System Is Your Body’s Control Center Your nervous system regulates virtually every function in your body, from breathing and digestion to movement, immunity, and emotional wellbeing. When we experience physical injury, emotional trauma, or prolonged stress, the nervous system can shift into a protective state. While this response is designed to keep us safe, many people never fully return to a state of balance. Instead, they continue operating in survival mode, even when the original stressor has passed. This can leave people feeling exhausted despite getting enough sleep, tense for no apparent reason, or living with persistent discomfort that seems to have no clear explanation. Your Body Is Not Broken One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that symptoms automatically mean something is wrong with us. In many cases, symptoms are actually the body’s way of communicating. Just as hunger tells us we need nourishment or thirst reminds us to drink water, physical discomfort can be the nervous system’s way of asking us to pay attention. When we begin listening instead of fighting against these signals, we create opportunities for healing rather than simply masking symptoms. A Different Perspective on Healing After years of practicing chiropractic care, studying the nervous system, and learning from healing traditions around the world, I developed the Spinal Flow Technique. It is a gentle, hands-on approach that focuses on supporting the body’s natural healing intelligence through the spine and nervous system. The philosophy behind the technique is simple. Every person has an innate ability to heal. Sometimes that healing potential simply needs the right environment to emerge. Rather than forcing change, we focus on helping the nervous system release stored stress so the body can return to a more regulated state. Simple Ways to Support Your Nervous System Supporting your nervous system does not always require dramatic lifestyle changes. Small, intentional habits practiced consistently can make a meaningful difference. Some simple ways to begin include: Prioritizing quality sleep and consistent rest Spending time in nature without digital distractions Practicing slow, mindful breathing throughout the day Moving your body gently through walking, stretching, or yoga Creating moments of stillness to reconnect with yourself Paying attention to physical sensations instead of immediately dismissing them These practices can help create space for your body to move away from constant stress and toward greater resilience. Healing Begins with Listening One of the most powerful lessons I have learned throughout my career is that healing is not about fighting your body. It is about understanding it. Our bodies are designed to grow, repair, and adapt. Just as our hearts beat without conscious effort and our skin heals after a cut, our nervous systems have an incredible capacity for restoration when given the opportunity. When we begin to see symptoms not as enemies but as messages, we often develop a healthier relationship with our wellbeing. That relationship is built on curiosity, compassion, and trust rather than fear. Healing does not always happen overnight, but it often begins with a simple shift in perspective. Your body is not working against you. It is doing its best to communicate with you. When we learn to listen, we give ourselves the opportunity to heal. • Taylor Phillips on Building GoodPark, Community, and the Feeling of Summer

Taylor Phillips didn’t set out to become a swimwear entrepreneur. Over the past decade-plus, he has built a genuine, highly engaged online following through storytelling, and that foundation eventually grew into something bigger: GoodPark, the lifestyle brand he now leads as Creative Director and founder. Phillips brought together everything he’d learned about creative direction, brand and world-building, and community to rethink what swimwear could be. His approach is rooted in a simple idea: real confidence comes from authenticity and connection, and GoodPark is built to capture the feeling of summer just as much as the swimwear itself. We sat down with Taylor to talk about his path as an entrepreneur, what sparked GoodPark, and where he sees the brand heading next. You’ve built a loyal audience through your work as a Creative Director and entrepreneur. Looking back, what have been some of the defining moments that shaped your career? Taylor Phillips: I’ve been sharing my life online for a little over ten years now, which honestly feels kind of crazy to say out loud. When I started, I wasn’t thinking about building a brand or becoming an entrepreneur. I was simply documenting what was happening in my life: moving from a small town in Indiana to New York, trying to make it as a model, coming out, meeting my husband, getting married, and figuring things out as I went. Looking back, I think that’s what shaped everything. I never tried to present a perfect version of my life, and I think people appreciated that. Over the years, that community grew into something I never expected, and they’ve truly grown up alongside me. I’ve also been lucky enough to work with many incredible brands as both a creator and a creative director. That gave me a front-row seat to what works, what feels forced, and why people connect with certain stories. Eventually, I realized I didn’t just want to help tell other people’s stories. I wanted to build something of my own. GoodPark became the place where everything I’d learned over the last decade finally came together. What inspired you to launch GoodPark, and what gap did you hope the brand would fill in the market? Taylor Phillips: The funny thing is, I didn’t start GoodPark because I saw a huge gap in the market. I started it because I wanted to build something that wasn’t just about me. After spending so many years creating content, I wanted to take everything I’d learned about storytelling, community, and creativity and pour it into something people could actually hold onto. The first version of GoodPark looked very different from what it is today. It took a few years, and plenty of trial and error, to figure out what the brand was truly meant to become. Once we landed on swimwear, everything started to click. When I looked around, I realized there weren’t many brands talking about swimwear in a way that felt emotional. Everything was centered around performance or sex appeal. I was much more interested in how summer feels: your favorite trip with friends, that one beach you’ll never forget, the freedom of spending all day outside and losing track of time. That’s the feeling I wanted to bottle up. People always ask why we started with swim briefs. Honestly, I didn’t even grow up wearing them. I was hesitant at first, but once I started learning about their history, how they became popular around the 1960 Olympics and were everywhere throughout the ’70s and ’80s, I became fascinated. Something that had once been completely normal had somehow disappeared, especially in the U.S. I loved the idea of bringing that confidence back in a way that felt modern, approachable, and timeless. At the end of the day, I don’t really think we’re selling swimwear. I think we’re selling the feeling of summer. GoodPark is built around connection, confidence, and community. How have those values influenced the way you’ve developed the brand from day one? Taylor Phillips: Honestly, I don’t think GoodPark would exist without the community we’ve built. Even now, I still ask my followers what they think all the time. I’ll ask about colors, fits, future products, campaigns, you name it. Sometimes they confirm what I’m already thinking, and sometimes they completely change my mind. I love that. It makes people feel like they’re actually part of building the brand because, in a lot of ways, they are. To me, confidence has never been about looking a certain way or being the loudest person in the room. It’s about feeling comfortable enough to be yourself. If someone puts on one of our suits and suddenly feels a little more confident walking onto the beach, that’s a pretty cool thing to be a small part of. As an LGBTQ-founded company, inclusivity has always been part of who we are, but I never wanted GoodPark to feel exclusive. Summer is universal. Everyone has memories attached to it. If our products become part of someone’s favorite vacation, their honeymoon, a weekend with friends, or even just a great afternoon by the pool, that’s way more meaningful to me than simply selling another swimsuit. With summer in full swing, what makes GoodPark stand out, and what pieces or collections are you most excited for people to discover this season? Taylor Phillips: I think what makes GoodPark different is that we spend just as much time thinking about how something feels as we do about how it fits. Every color, every campaign, and every photoshoot starts with a feeling. This season, we’ve introduced a lot of new colors and fabrics that I’m really excited about, but what I’m probably most proud of is how much we’ve continued to refine the fit. We obsess over the little details because those are the things people actually notice when they wear our products. We’ve also had the opportunity to do some really meaningful collaborations this year, including partnering with God’s Love We Deliver during Pride Month. Moments like that remind me that GoodPark can be about more than just clothing. We have a saying: “GoodPark is wherever summer is.” Whether that’s a beach in Miami, a lake back home in Indiana, or an apartment rooftop in New York, that’s the feeling we’re trying to create. Looking ahead, what’s next for both you and GoodPark? What can your audience expect from the brand in the coming months? Taylor Phillips: We’re still just getting started. We recently had our best sales week ever, so it really feels like we’re carving out a space for ourselves. Over the next year, you’ll definitely see us expand beyond swimwear, but we’re not in a rush. I never want to make products just for the sake of having more products. Everything has to earn its place and feel like a natural extension of the brand. I’m also excited to share more of what happens behind the scenes. Building a business is messy. There are incredible days, stressful days, and plenty of moments when you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing. I think people appreciate seeing that because it’s real life. More than anything, I hope people continue to feel like they’re on this journey with us. GoodPark has always been a community effort, and I want it to stay that way as we grow. If, years from now, someone pulls out one of our swimsuits before a vacation and it instantly reminds them of one of the best weekends of their life, I’d consider that a bigger success than any sales number. Stay connected with Taylor and follow his journey on Instagram at @taylorjphillips for behind-the-scenes content, lifestyle inspiration, and the latest updates from GoodPark. By ML Staff. • How North Beach Became Miami's Home Base for Argentina Fans

On match days this World Cup, North Beach felt like the center of Miami’s Argentine universe. Blue and white jerseys filled neighborhood restaurants, cafés, sidewalks and streets as fans flooded the neighborhood to watch Argentina’s World Cup run unfold together. For a few weeks, the energy was impossible to miss, but what the tournament revealed — and others saw through viral videos showing full fan takeovers — was nothing new. It was a cultural identity that has been a part of North Beach’s fabric for decades. View of North Beach (Credit: Lefferts) Throughout the World Cup, Argentina supporters packed neighborhood favorites to watch each match together. Blue and white jerseys filled dining rooms, cheers spilled onto sidewalks and familiar restaurants became meeting places for families, friends and visitors looking to experience the excitement alongside locals. For one of the nation’s most devoted soccer fanbases, this year’s World Cup — hosted in North America — became a full display of pride and place. Videos of North Beach streets awash in blue and white quickly spread across social media, capturing not only the energy of Argentina’s supporters but the neighborhood’s long-standing connection to the culture behind them. But while the tournament created significant buzz around the neighborhood, North Beach's connection to Argentina didn't begin with Lionel Messi’s opening goal in this year’s tournament. For years, the neighborhood has been home to Argentine-owned restaurants, bakeries and cafés that have helped shape its identity. Spots like Cafe Prima Pasta, Manolo, Banchero, New Campo Argentino Steakhouse, Buenos Aires Bakery & Cafe and BODEGON 71 have made the area a destination for authentic Argentine cuisine and culture. Together, they have helped turn North Beach into one of Miami Beach’s most recognizable Argentine enclaves, where food, soccer and community naturally intersect. For Argentine American transplants looking to build roots in South Florida, the neighborhood has become a natural landing place: familiar enough to feel like home, but distinctly tied to the rhythm of Miami Beach. That reputation only grew after Lionel Messi arrived in South Florida. His first public outing after joining Inter Miami brought even more attention to a neighborhood many Argentines already considered home. For longtime residents and regulars, the moment did not create North Beach’s Argentine identity as much as confirm it, shining a brighter spotlight on a community that had already been gathering there for years. On top of all of this excitement, new investment is beginning to shape how residents and visitors experience the district. Public improvements, new dining concepts and residential projects are bringing fresh momentum to North Beach — or NoBe. Case in point — developments like 72 Park and PALMA Miami Beach Residences reflect a broader rediscovery of the neighborhood’s understated charm and coastal appeal. That growth is not replacing the area’s cultural character, but adding new layers to a place already defined by community and connection. PALMA Miami Beach Residences (Credit: Lefferts) As the excitement surrounding the World Cup settles, North Beach continues to offer the same sense of community that made it a natural gathering place during the tournament. What begins as a visit for a meal or a soccer match often turns into a chance to experience one of Miami Beach's most spirited cultural neighborhoods. That growth is not replacing the area’s cultural character, but adding new layers to a place already defined by community and connection. By ML Staff.
