  • Practice 17: 2025 Miami Dolphins Training Camp Notebook

After a slow start to practice Wednesday that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa described as "needing a jumpstart," the team responded to the challenge, and did so right away. Prior to Thursday's practice, Head Coach Mike McDaniel talked about the value and intent of the joint sessions and drilled the idea of being process-driven compared to results-obsessed. "We signed up for this because it's invaluable August work for things that we'll continue to have to work on regardless of results in September, but they'll actually count," he said. "Based upon their responses, we'll see how valuable (Wednesday) was or how much the lessons weren't learned from certain things." The Dolphins' response was an emphatic one. Thursday started with both sides of the ball taking it to the Lions in a seven-on-seven period. Tagovailoa found wide receiver Jaylen Waddle for a pair of touchdowns and scattered three more to wide receivers Erik Ezukanma, Malik Washington and Dee Eskridge. Eskridge and Washington scored in the final team period as Miami made frequent end zone visits, none more exciting than the final touchdown to Eskridge. After a 30-yard gain to start the period, Eskridge caught a contested pass in the back of the end zone. The referee signaled touchdown and the celebration was on and Eskridge was swarmed by teammates who sprinted off the sidelines. "I feel like we came out there and dominated and competed," center Aaron Brewer said. "It just felt good seeing all the guys, we're out there celebrating together, having fun and just playing with some passion. You felt the energy today, it was contagious." The defense flexed one day after quarterback Jared Goff and the Lions put on a show. Goff did find wide receiver Jameson Williams for a 50-yard touchdown and scattered three more red zone scores in the earlier periods, but it was tough sledding between those plays. Miami's run defense took it to the Lions' front. Rookies Kenneth Grant and Jordan Phillips caused pileups and created chances for the linebackers. "I think when basically any time (Phillips) makes a play, both the sidelines and the players on the field erupt," Head Coach Mike McDaniel said of Phillips. "I think that tells you a lot." McDaniel added: "Relentless approach, very good pad level, super strong, super tough and his teammates like him a lot." Linebackers Jordyn Brooks, Tyrel Dodson and K.J. Britt led the charge. They played off the work of the young defensive tackles and piled up the run stuffs and tackles on Lions checkdowns in the passing game. Few players, if any, have had better camps than Brooks. "He's a savvy vet," Grant said of Brooks. "He's hard-nosed, brings the energy every single play. He wants to be up there hard-nosed and fitting people up." The next time the Dolphins strap it on will be the penultimate game of the preseason. Miami will take on Detroit Saturday at 1p.m. at Ford Field. By ML Staff. • Gift Bag Sizing Strategies for Different Product Categories

If you are giving out premium promotional gift bags for any products, you want them to be sized correctly for the items inside. Before you order gift bags with logo printed , consider the interior details and size things correctly for the greatest impact on your brand. Photo by Happy Films on Unsplash Overview of Gift Bag Sizes Custom gift bag options come in so many sizes that it’s impossible to list them all. When thinking about promotional gifts, there’s always going to be a budget in place. Consider getting gift bags in standard sizes instead of customized sizes to reduce costs. Sizes come in variations of small, medium, and large. If you get a small bag, think of jewelry and small accessories. When you grab medium bags, consider items like books or candles. Large bags are suitable for items the size of shoe boxes or larger. There are also extra-large sizes available. When you look at the size options, consider the item you want to place inside, but also allow more room for packaging or tissue paper. Factors Influencing Gift-Bag Sizing There are many factors that determine the bag size for your gift. Here are a few factors to consider: The size of the gift included The gift’s packaging size Space for tissue paper Weight limits Price points Purpose While it makes sense to think about the gift size, weight limits, and other such things, you also want to think about the overall purpose of the gift bag. If you are at a conference or another event, you might have a bigger-than-needed bag so people can place other items inside as they walk around. If you want the bag to be reused, consider standard sizes that make the gift bags easier to pass around later. Matching Gift Bag Sizes by Product Category There are certain products that go well in certain gift bag sizes, and you also have to consider gift bag materials. Paper is the most common material. It’s simple, sturdy enough to be useful, and can be reused many times. However, since it’s such a common material, it doesn’t stand out as special or luxurious. Fabric gift bags are gaining popularity as highly reusable, long-lasting, durable options. They come in cotton, organza, bamboo, and many other materials. Many people find themselves reusing fabric gift bags for everyday items, and not just gifts. One factor in which materials you choose is the price point. Paper bags are going to cost less and are easier to buy in bulk, but won’t get used for as long or for as many things. Some brands like to go the extra mile and get fabric bags that cost more, but are eco-friendly and can be used for many things in the future. Tips for Customizing the Fit When you think about the gift you want to place inside the gift bag, you want the fit to be customized. Most people will place the gift inside, then put tissue paper around it. Another option is to put colored, shredded paper around the gift. Take a measurement of the gift you have in mind and find the right bag to fit it. Not only do you want the gift to fit, but you want to customize the look and feel of the item overall. Choose bag colors that go with your brand and take care with the tissue paper as well. You can always get neutral paper to go with anything, but it is a nice touch to have tissue paper that gives your brand a pop of color. Photo by freestocks on Unsplash Practical Implementation Save Ink can help you with any practical aspects you have in mind for giving gifts from your brand. Customize the gift bags with your logo, or get gift bags in certain colors and put on a sticker featuring your logo. How many bags will you distribute? Are you giving them all out right away, or gradually? What is your budget? These are things the marketing department has to decide to approach the project in a practical manner. In conclusion Gift bag materials, packaging options, and size are all things to think through as you prepare gifts from your brand. Whether it’s a special promotion, a gift that you’ll give out regularly, or something people pick up at a trade show booth, you want the item and the package to speak to the quality and uniqueness of your brand. You might feel like you are overthinking, but every detail adds up. The personality of your brand is a culmination of everything around it, even gifts and the bags encompassing them. Therefore, every detail is important, down to the tissue paper you use. By ML staff. Images courtesy of Unsplash.

  • Picklum and Robinson Reign Supreme at Lexus Tahiti Pro Ahead of WSL Finals

Australian surfers Molly Picklum and Jack Robinson reigned supreme on the iconic waves of Teahupo’o to emerge victorious at the Lexus Tahiti Pro stop in the South Pacific, which counted as the last regular season event ahead of the World Surf League Finals Fiji. There was a lot at stake heading into the penultimate event of the 2025 WSL season with the world's best surfers looking to book a place at the one-day WSL Finals Fiji from August 27 to September 4. The women's event was a hotly contested affair with Picklum - the best backhand tuberider on the women's tour - eventually coming out on top in the final against reigning WSL champion Caitlin Simmers to win her first Tahiti Pro event and extend her lead in the Championship Tour rankings. Picklum got the better of France's Vahine Fierro in the quarter-finals and then American Caroline Marks in the semi-finals - thanks to a close 9.73 to 9.33 win - to set up a final against Simmers, who had seen off Australian Tyler Wright in the last eight and then Hawaiian Gabriela Bryan in the semi-finals after the Hawaiian had beaten Canadian Erin Brooks. Simmers could not catch a break in the final as Picklum put on a masterclass to triumph 17.26 to 4.94 and confirm her status as the women's favourite heading into the WSL Finals later this month. After banking her second 2025 win, Picklum, 22, said: "What a special place, Tahiti. You feel all the energy. It's just so nice. I'm staring at the mountains right now and staring into perfect blue. It's where the dream comes alive. And Fiji’s next; I'm gonna enjoy it for what it is. I finished number one this year and that's a massive step in the right direction." Simmers, 19, finished the regular season ranked third with Bryan second and Marks - who won Olympic gold in Tahiti last summer - fourth while Brooks ended eighth overall to win the 2025 Rookie of the Year as American Bettylou Sakura Johnson earned the fifth and final spot for Fiji. The men's event was another classic battle as the surfers scrapped it out on the waves to try and book a top-five place in Fiji, Robinson desperately needing the win to move up the rankings and secure his own spot. The 27-year-old came through two close contests in the Round of 16 and quarter-finals - where he held off Brazilian Ítalo Ferreira by 15.80 to 14.07 - to set up a semi-final with American Crosby Colapinto but Robinson stepped up a level to win 18.10 to 11.66 and earn a crucial final place. Meanwhile, American Griffin Colapinto edged out Brazil's João Chianca by just 0.03 of a point in the Round of 16 to progress then ousted Australian Ethan Ewing in the last eight and French Polynesia's Mihimana Braye in a semi-final classic to give himself another shot at final glory. Robinson, though, had the bit between his teeth and he came out on top 16.90 to 13.67 in the final to book his Fiji place as the fourth-ranked surfer with Colapinto securing his spot third overall. Robinson's ninth victory puts him alongside legends like Kelly Slater and Gabriel Medina as two-time Tahiti champions to assure his position as one of the all-time greats at "The End Of The Road". Colapinto's thrilling comeback from the bottom of the rankings earlier this season included three second-place finishes and three thirds in the last seven events to prove his in-form credentials for Fiji. Brazilian Yago Dora ended the regular season first, while South African Jordy Smith finished second overall as he chases a career-first world crown after 18 years on tour. 2019 world champion Ferreira takes the fifth Finals spot after a mixed year, but remains as dangerous a threat as ever. Japan's Kanoa Igarashi and Italian Leonardo Fioravanti finished seventh and ninth respectively overall as the top five men and women head to Cloudbreak for the world title showdown live on Red Bull TV.
