  • ICA Speaks: Adam Pendleton

ICA Miami welcomes acclaimed New York–based artist Adam Pendleton to share insights into his conceptually rigorous, formally inventive practice. A central figure in contemporary American painting, Pendleton has redefined the medium through his engagement with process and abstraction. His paintings challenge established conventions and blur the boundaries between painting, drawing, and photography. Each painting comes to life through expressionistic flourishes, stark contrasts, and subtle variations of material, tone, and finish, balanced by a precision reminiscent of minimal and conceptual art. Generative and poetic, his work across mediums creates fluid, resonant spaces for seeing, thinking, and feeling. In this talk, Pendleton will offer audiences a closer look at his approach and reflect on the prospects and possibilities of painting today. By ML Staff. Designed in collaboration with Quartostile for the exterior and Acube Design for the interiors, the 36 Exuma showcases clean lines, soft curves, and a fluid transition between interior and exterior spaces. Built for both performance and comfort, the yacht delivers a top speed of 33 knots while maintaining exceptional stability, silence, and vibration-free cruising. “The 36 Exuma embodies Maiora’s philosophy of combining elegance, innovation, and comfort,” said Giorgio Mattei , Deputy Chairman of Next Yacht Group. “It reflects our commitment to Italian style and technical excellence.” Space, Style, and Seamless Living Spread across four decks, the 36 Exuma accommodates up to 12 guests in five cabins, including a main deck owner’s suite with panoramic 270-degree views and four guest cabins on the lower deck. • REEFLINE Launches First Underwater Sculpture Park in Miami Beach with Leandro Erlich’s “Concrete Coral”

Miami Beach is welcoming a new cultural and environmental landmark as REEFLINE launches its first underwater art installation, Concrete Coral , by internationally acclaimed artist Leandro Erlich . From October 20 to 28, residents and visitors can watch a 159-foot construction barge lower 22 life-sized concrete cars into the ocean, approximately 780 feet off 4th–5th Street. The surreal scene — resembling a submerged traffic jam 20 feet below the surface — marks the debut of Miami’s new public sculpture park and hybrid reef. Accessible by snorkeling, diving, swimming, paddleboarding, or kayaking, Concrete Coral  will soon be seeded with 2,200 live corals  grown at REEFLINE’s Miami Native Coral Lab in Allapattah. The project uses Coral Lok™ technology  for fast, secure, and sustainable coral transplantation, transforming the artwork into a living reef that supports marine life and ocean restoration. Conceived by Ximena Caminos , REEFLINE brings together artists, scientists, marine biologists, and coastal engineers under a master plan by Shohei Shigematsu/OMA . The ambitious 11-phase initiative seeks to raise $40 million to extend its underwater corridor along seven miles of Miami Beach, creating a model for coastal regeneration worldwide. “REEFLINE shows how creativity can drive real solutions for a changing planet,” said Caminos, Founder and Artistic Director. “By merging art, science, and community, we’re transforming imagination into tangible environmental impact.” With Concrete Coral , Miami Beach takes a bold step toward merging art and ecology, turning a symbol of urban congestion into a thriving marine habitat — and redefining how cities engage with the ocean. • Your Dream Vacation in Paradise: The New Viva Miches by Wyndham Offers a Luxury Stay in the Dominican Republic

Guests will be greeted by a refreshing beverage upon arriving at Viva Miches by Wyndham  in the rural shores of the Dominican Republic. Just a short flight from Miami, walk into their luxurious tropical lobby and embrace paradise. This brand-new all-inclusive resort (which just opened in December) offers guests everything they need to have fun, to relax, and to fully unplug from their everyday lives. From a delicious culinary experience to an impressive entertainment team that will keep the party going all day (and night) long, Viva Miches has everything you need to have the picture-perfect vacation. Located in a protective bay, Viva Miches has an expansive beachfront where guests can take advantage of warm, calm, clear waters—and beautiful sunsets. The views are stunning, the beach is pristine, and the mountains create an authentic landscape unlike any you’ve seen before. Relax on one of the many shaded lounge chairs—no need to reserve and stress, the abundant palm trees create natural shade all day long, and there are plenty of lounges for everyone. When you are ready to cool off, take a dip, or enjoy a sip from a cold beverage from the beach bar—after all, this is  an all-inclusive stay. Whether you’re traveling with your family, on a romantic getaway or seeking adventure, Viva Miches will exceed your expectations. There are 535 comfortable rooms on the premises, with six different categories—from garden view to ocean view, to ocean front —but regardless of where you stay, all the rooms are decorated with the same attention to detail. They are designed with a unique blend of comfort and natural beauty that embody the perfect vacation. Wherever you stay, your room will have a balcony or a terrace, so you can always enjoy fresh air, people watch and have a private place to sit outside. Our favorite rooms are the Splash  rooms, which feature a private plunge pool that is located on the ground level of the ocean front and ocean view rooms. The plunge pool will make you feel luxurious, as it’s conveniently located right outside your room, and you can enjoy it at your leisure—it’s the perfect place to go after the main pool closes! There are four restaurants, and two buffets that serve a variety of food throughout the day. Regardless of what time it is, at Viva Miches, you will always find food available. Buffett El Lago  is the main cafeteria that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. You will find a carving station with delicious meats, a pasta station where you can get fresh cooked pasta, salads, soups, an abundance of desserts, and everything in between! If you happen to be lounging by the pool, and are looking for a quick bite, La Esmeralda  is the perfect place. This casual buffet offers salads, burgers, grilled chicken, fries, and a rotating selection of featured meals like Paella and Sancocho on special days. Here you can dine in your bathing suit, even if you’re still a little wet from the pool; plus, it’s very close to the pool and beach area, so you don’t have to miss a beat. Finally, be sure to make your reservations at each one of the signature restaurants upon arrival, as these are popular and get filled quickly. Latin Fusion is beautifully decorated with vibrant colors, and offers a wide selection of food from Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina, and of course the Dominican Republic. Start with some ceviche, have a burrito bite, a churrasco, and finish with a delicious alfajor. Fusion Oriental  offers a different experience. Sit at the teppanyaki table and enjoy the show. Here you’ll indulge in some sushi, fried rice, grilled chicken, beef, and shrimp. At Atlantis guests enjoy seafood that feature local flavors. Make sure to try the grilled octopus—which is a meal on its own—and the tuna tartar which is beautifully presented. Finally, the Mediterranean restaurant, is a mix of French Riviera and Greek Islands. The artichoke dip, and seafood paella are the perfect pair! There is so much to do at Viva Miches, but if lounging by the pool  is your priority, you will not be disappointed. There is a beautiful ocean front pool that wraps around the front of the property. The main pool—which cascades over a wading pool—is divided into two sections, creating multiple spaces for guests to relax. There are also two large  jacuzzies adjacent to the main pool, and a separate pool with a swim up bar. Here you can get everything your heart desires—margaritas, daquiris, shots, beer, Bahama Mamas and everything in between! Viva Miches works with the Bravo  entertainment team to bring the fun 24/7. Throughout the day, the Bravo staff hosts beach yoga, fun tournaments, bingo, Zumba, water aerobics, and even foam parties. At night, the staff has a one-hour themed show onstage (from Circus night to Dominican night) followed by a playful activity to engage guests (or a beach party), and finally they encourage guests to join them at the on-site nightclub to continue partying until 2 a.m. As if that wasn’t enough, there are also plenty of sports and activities  that guests can take advantage of throughout the day. There is a gym with impressive sunset views, tennis  courts, and guests can also try their hand at archery  right on the resort grounds. Down by the beach there are volleyball  courts, and Viva Miches also has an impressive lineup of kayaks, windsurfing, standup paddleboards, and catamaran sailing which is all included with your stay. Simply approach the boating team by the beach and sign out a double kayak for 30mins—explore and enjoy! The catamaran sailing is also a nice perk, and if you don’t have experience, a staff member will take your family for a ride. For the little ones in the family, there is a Kids Club  that features multiple activities for kids throughout the day. The Kids Club includes an impressive splash pad with water slides, fountains, and a pool, as well as a full-sized playground and indoor activity room where they can nap, color, and even jump in the ball pit. There is also a room designed for teens , where they can play video games, air hockey, watch movies, or just listen to music and relax. If you are looking to do excursions, simply visit the activities desk and they will gladly walk you through all the activities. The Media Luna Snorkeling  trip is a fun activity for everyone. It takes you to reef location for snorkeling with a second stop at a “natural pool” where you’ll calmy hang out in waist deep waters in the middle of the ocean! The best thing about this trip is that it departs from Viva Miches, where the catamaran is moored and docked, so there is no transportation time (a huge plus). After a long day of activities, there is no better time than to try the Spa . The spa features various treatments, including a couples massage. Upon arrival you will pick your preferred scent, meet your therapist, and she will take you to your treatment room. While the spa is small, they do offer various skin therapies, and massages. Viva Miches by Wyndham has created the ideal experience for travelers, offering everything one needs when on vacation. You really don’t have the leave the property if you don’t want to, but if you do want to go explore, you can even rent cars from the hotel itself. It’s very convenient! At Viva Miches you’ll create endless memories and make new friends—here you will find plenty of guests staying for more than week from all over the world. Leave your worries behind and embrace what it’s like to live in paradise. For more information, visit: www.vivaresortsbywyndham.com/viva-miches By Claudia Paredes. Rafael Ramírez brings his latest work Chronicle of a time that was (Crónica de un suceso) , a flamenco dance performance with live music in tribute to renown flamenco dance and film phenomena Antonio Gades on the 20th anniversary of his death.   Far from being a biographical production, this artistic project uses key moments in Gades’s life as a compass to explore his essence, his audacity, and his innovative vision. Machado thus becomes the first Venezuelan to receive the Nobel Peace Prize , a milestone in Latin American history and a powerful symbol of hope for all those who believe in the transformative power of truth and courage. For more than four decades, Gary Nader has devoted his life to promoting Latin American art and culture, with special pride in elevating the visibility of women artists and creators who have transcended barriers through their talent and voice. • Trends in Casino Design and Guest Experience Across Fashion and Arts Venues

A lot has changed for casinos — at least, that’s how it seems. No longer just a place for slot machines and card tables, they now sort of straddle this space between art gallery, fashion event, and luxury playground. It’s gotten hard to even pin down where the boundaries lie. Opulent textures everywhere. A bit of high-tech flash thrown in, too. People say the atmosphere’s closer to a boutique launch or a contemporary art opening than anything like the old days.   Image by MJCouch / Pixabay If you look at recent reports, say, Nelson Worldwide’s, there’s a pattern: designers are borrowing big ideas from fashion weeks and top-shelf art spaces, focusing on drama and creative expression. You’ll come across interactive installations, personalized touches usually seen only in luxury retail, even curated guest ‘journeys’ — whatever that means.  None of this just changes how things look; there’s a shift in what guests expect, maybe even in how visitors see themselves in that space. The takeaway, if there is one, probably points to casinos slowly morphing into these immersive, hybrid destinations where culture, high-end fun, and entertainment are so tangled up that teasing them apart doesn’t quite make sense anymore. The rise of luxury in casino environments So, lately? Some casinos have been pouring money into jaw-dropping architecture and — let’s not forget — extravagant lighting displays. You might walk inside one and wonder if you’ve stumbled into a film set or some kind of fashion gala. Those huge entryways and open layouts, the ones that make you feel tiny? Supposedly, that’s on purpose, loosely reflecting what you’d spot inside an airy art gallery or designer store.  There’s surprise in the details: installations meant for exploring, not just looking. Think oversized sculptures, moving visuals splashed across digital walls, or even pockets of sound layered through long hallways. The old just-games-and-dining formula has shifted; now, there’s wellness corners, chic shopping, and food that tries not to taste like boilerplate buffet.  According to numbers floating around, like the 47% from 2025 projections, almost half of new venues are weaving these multipurpose elements into their designs. Honestly, for some guests, the tables might be an afterthought — the experience, the lifestyle moment, that seems to be the real focus now. When online experiences meet art and fashion The online casino  sector is rapidly borrowing strategies from the worlds of fashion and contemporary arts. If you log into one of these platforms, the look and feel can be surprisingly close to a digital boutique or art exhibit. Not so much sterile menus; more like soft edges and animations everywhere. Citing Inkhive or Miami Living, some folks note how apps serve up curated recommendations, in-app event guides, and members-only features. All of it echoes what fashion houses do to keep VIPs engaged. There’s live-streamed art, digital showrooms, users fiddling with clothing options for avatars — really, the border between gaming, art, and style gets fuzzier by the day.  Interface choices, like ‘dark mode’ and pared-down layouts, borrow more than a little from high-end ecommerce or gallery websites. Security? There’s a lot of show-and-tell there, too, much like what’s become standard in luxury retail. Hard to say where it’ll go next; if anything, these worlds will likely keep ideas flowing as audiences ask for a sharper, more enveloping experience. Fashion’s influence and the casino crossover The overlap between fashion and casino scenes isn’t new, except lately, it’s gotten bolder, or at least more noticeable. Major casinos — especially the high-profile ones — tend to cling to a formal vibe: tailored suits, dresses that wouldn’t look out of place at a premiere. This insistence on glamour spills beyond the floor; similar dress codes pop up at everything from gala movie nights to exclusive runway events.  And then there’s the style industry borrowing right back — designer labels doing casino-themed releases, complete with oversized dice prints or shimmery details you’d see under neon lights. Funny enough, some casinos have reinforced this by selling their own branded outfits, while nearby galleries champion their own merch lines.  On the digital side, gaming platforms are letting users outfit avatars in premium looks, blending a bit of game fantasy with luxury brand fever. Doesn’t matter where you look, it all seems to feed off itself. Magazines like Luxury Lifestyle or coverage from Red Carpet Fashion Awards tend to highlight how runway and casino visuals ping-pong back and forth, morphing casino life from side show to, well, something closer to a lifestyle aspiration. Art, technology, and the future of guest experience Casinos lately kind of double as arts and event venues. Not everywhere, but it’s a trend — walls that react to touch , spaces built to be rearranged at a moment’s notice, sound and light shows that probably rival smaller museums. UP Magazine has written about venues that swap in new art installations or change up décor seasonally — almost more gallery than casino den. The vibe isn’t static.  It flexes around gaming, eating, socializing, even the occasional surprise pop-up. On the tech side of things, digital systems keep nudging visitors with offers or tips, learning your tastes quietly behind the scenes, not unlike what high-end retailers are doing. There’s AI in the mix now, especially with promotions meant to fit specific habits, even if it feels a bit uncanny at times.  Reports like those from Yogonet put the adoption rate at over 60% among operators aiming for a tailored guest experience — not that everyone’s convinced this is all upside. What emerges — if you try to piece it together — is a blend that’s somewhere between a curated retail space, a gallery, and the recognizably buzzy casino core. Conclusion on responsible gaming and the integrated guest journey As design and technology reshape these venues, the whole guest journey somehow gets both broader and more intense. Yes, the blending of art, tech, and a bit of showmanship is appealing, but there’s also a clear nudge toward responsible gaming that’s tough to ignore. It appears that many industry leaders are pushing transparency — things like obvious support services or digital reminders — sometimes even using AI that, ideally, puts guest wellbeing at the center.  There’s a delicate balance here: immersive experiences  sitting side-by-side with easy prompts to set limits or seek help. In this landscape, trust is treated almost as a currency, and mindfulness is something more than a buzzword — it maybe has to be, as casinos keep stretching into new cultural territory. By ML Staff.
