- A Summer of Free Concerts, Opera, and Immersive Performances Comes to South Beach
The Miami Beach Classical Music Festival is back with free concerts, a Pride celebration, Fourth of July fireworks and a jaw-dropping immersive experience inside Temple Emanu-El. Here's everything you need to know. Annual Independence Day Fireworks & Patriotic Concert - Miami Beach Classical Music Festival If you've ever caught the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival on Ocean Drive on a warm summer night, you already know the feeling: an orchestra in full swing, the ocean nearby, and the kind of crowd that includes everyone from toddlers to retirees. It's one of those “only in Miami” moments. This summer, the festival returns Memorial Day weekend through July 18 with its most ambitious season yet, spanning six events across some of South Beach's most beloved locations. Everything is free and open to the public, which means there's no excuse to miss it. Symphony Concert - Miami Beach Classical Music Festival "At its core, Miami Beach Classical Music Festival is about making world-class music accessible to all. Each performance is meant to bring people together through music, art and innovation." — Michael Rossi, MMF Founder & Artistic Director Founded in 2013 by artistic director Michael Rossi, the festival has spent more than a decade building something remarkable in our own backyard. It was the first opera company in Miami Beach to use 360-degree projection mapping technology in a live performance. Miami Beach Memorial Day Weekend Festival of Lights - Miami Beach Classical Music Festival Mark your calendar The season kicks off Memorial Day weekend with the Miami Beach Memorial Day Weekend Festival of Lights on May 24 and 25 at The Betsy - South Beach. Starting at 8:30 p.m. each night, a live orchestra performs patriotic repertoire while the hotel's façade comes alive with synchronized projection mapping. Bring a blanket, grab a spot on Ocean Drive, and let it wash over you. On May 30, the festival kicks off Miami Beach Pride with a free concert on Ocean Drive and 12th Street, running 8 to 11 p.m. Pride-themed visuals will light up The Tides building as the sun goes down. Then on July 4, the beloved Annual Fireworks and Patriotic Concert returns to Lummus Park, with the festival’s Symphony Orchestra conducting Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and the Armed Forces Salute before fireworks take over the sky at 9 p.m. Pack your chairs, make a reservation at one of the Ocean Drive restaurants nearby, and settle in for a proper Fourth of July celebration. Mid-July brings two nights of opera with Jules Massenet's Cendrillon (July 10 and 11 at Emanuel Luxury Venue), a sweeping French take on the Cinderella story filled with soaring love duets. On July 12, the same venue hosts a Symphony Concert featuring MMF's Conducting Institute fellows performing Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven. Miami Beach Pride Concert - Miami Beach Classical Music Festival The one not to miss: Celestia On July 16 and 18, Miami Beach Classical Music Festival debuts Celestia, A Symphony of Light inside the Temple Emanu-El Sanctuary on Washington Avenue, an experience that has never been attempted in South Florida before. The production wraps the entire interior of the historic sanctuary in 360-degree dome projection mapping, inspired by the acclaimed Luminiscence shows in France, while a full live orchestra performs Debussy's Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune, Clair de Lune, and Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé. It's the kind of thing you'd normally have to book a flight to Paris to see. This summer, it's happening six blocks from the beach. Temple Emanu-El - Miami Beach Classical Music Festival A Miami Beach original The Miami Beach Classical Music Festival is funded by the Department of State, City of Miami Beach, Division of Cultural Affairs, National Endowment for the Arts and The Children’s Trust to promote artistic excellence, creativity and innovation in our communities, with support from the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority, the City of Miami Beach and The Betsy - South Beach, MMF’s home since 2013. What's easy to take for granted, living here, is how rare it actually is to have something like the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival in your city. Free world-class concerts. Opera on the waterfront. Young musicians getting real performance experience in front of real audiences. Miami Beach has all of them, every summer, within walking distance of home. By ML Staff.
- Common Room to Debut in Downtown Hollywood, FL, Summer 2026
BOL Hospitality Group (BHG) is proud to announce the debut of Common Room, a neighborhood American restaurant near Young Circle in Downtown Hollywood. Opening summer 2026, Common Room is located at 2032 Harrison St., Hollywood, FL 33020. BHG was founded in 2013 by Eric Douglas and Hai Nguyen, two South Florida hospitality operators who have built a reputation for their portfolio of high-energy, experience-driven concepts across South Florida. The group's portfolio includes Bae Korean Grill, The BŌL Asian Cuisine and Davidoff of Geneva Cigar Lounge at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, and Social Room in Hollywood. Zhō, a new pan-Asian restaurant, is slated to open at Dania Pointe in Q4 2026. Douglas leads brand development and long-term growth initiatives, while Nguyen oversees operational strategy and concept execution. Common Room marks the group's next chapter in South Florida. At the heart of Downtown Hollywood, Common Room was designed to serve as a neighborhood anchor. Common Room’s philosophy centers on reliably delicious food and expertly crafted cocktails in a warm and energetic atmosphere. The Common Room team prides itself on hospitality, where guests become regulars. Discreetly tucked within the restaurant is The Brooklyn Room, a curated speakeasy accessible by invitation only. Its approachable dining experience, layered with a post-dinner experiential cocktail component, offers guests two distinct experiences under one roof. Douglas coordinated a team of South Florida based companies to assist him in this project. Jewel Toned Interiors designed the interiors, and the architecture and construction were led by Kaller Architects and Lombardi Development. Distinct floral coverings and brass-framed mirrors give the space a sense of nostalgia that anchors the guest experience before a single dish arrives. The intimate 2000 square-foot restaurant offers seating for approximately 65 guests in the dining room, with future outdoor seating planned. The Brooklyn Room operates as a discreetly positioned speakeasy, accessed through the alley in the back of the restaurant. Entry is granted by invitation only, though regulars who make Common Room or any of BOL Hospitality Group’s concepts a habit tend to find their way inside. As a nod to the New York City Borough, guests will enjoy cocktails named after more well-known Brooklyn neighborhoods. Each night will bring a unique mix of beats, including old school hip hop and jazz. Executive Chef Tanya Evans brings a culinary vision built on simplicity: delicious and familiar, executed with fresh ingredients. Evans comes to Common Room with experience at Barton G, Major Food Group and Café Minstral, a background that spans high-volume hospitality and detail-driven kitchens. The menu draws on the comfort of American classics, with signature dishes including lobster rolls, Yum Yum fried chicken, slow-braised short rib and French dip. Ingredients are sourced fresh from premium suppliers, with quality as the consistent standard across every dish. The Supper Club-inspired cocktail program, designed by Miami’s Unfiltered Hospitality, pairs classic builds with original signatures, each grounded in fresh, quality ingredients and finished with the kind of Miami-influenced flair. The menu is thoughtfully designed to carry guests from happy hour through last call without missing a beat. “We are proud to welcome Common Room to the Hollywood community, an intimate neighborhood modern American restaurant with a vibe,” said Douglas. “Common Room will be known for great food, an amazing vibe and excellent service. It’s where happy hour effortlessly rolls into great evenings, and great dinners turn into memorable nights.” “While access to The Brooklyn Room speakeasy is by invitation only, becoming a familiar face at any BOL Hospitality Group’s establishments doesn’t hurt your possibilities of getting an invite,” he continued. Hours of operation are Wednesday and Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. Common Room will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. - Sustainable Roofing Solutions for Homes and Businesses
Image by DepositPhotos Your roof takes the full hit from heat, storms, and daily exposure. In Central Texas, that pressure builds fast. One missed issue turns into leaks, rising energy costs, or structural damage. Many property owners act late, when repairs already cost more than expected. Sustainable roofing offers a better approach. It focuses on durability, energy efficiency, and long-term value. Instead of constant fixes, you invest in systems that last and perform. This guide explains how Georgetown, TX roofing services support smarter, more sustainable choices for homes and businesses. Why Sustainable Roofing Matters in Central Texas Georgetown sits in a climate that pushes roofing systems to their limits. Long periods of heat increase indoor temperatures. Storms bring wind and hail that weaken materials over time. A sustainable roof reduces heat absorption and improves insulation. That lowers cooling costs and reduces strain on HVAC systems. It also extends the life of your roof, which means fewer replacements and less material waste. Local contractors now recommend solutions that handle both heat and impact. That shift improves long-term performance for both residential and commercial properties. Understanding Roofing Services Available to Property Owners Roofing services cover more than installation. They include inspections, maintenance, repairs, and full replacements. Each plays a role in keeping your roof reliable. Residential projects often focus on comfort and energy savings. Commercial properties need systems that handle larger surfaces and heavier use. In both cases, working with experienced professionals helps ensure proper installation and long-term performance. If you want dependable results, exploring professional roofing solutions in Georgetown, TX helps you understand how local expertise supports long-term performance and property protection. Choosing Sustainable Roofing Materials Material choice shapes how your roof performs over time. Some materials last longer. Others improve energy efficiency. Metal Roofing for Long-Term Performance Metal roofing stands out for its durability. It reflects sunlight, which helps reduce indoor heat. It also resists wind and fire damage. Many systems use recyclable materials, which supports environmentally responsible construction. Tile and Shingle Roofing Options Tile roofing performs well in hot climates. It handles sun exposure and offers long service life. Asphalt shingles remain common due to lower upfront cost. With proper maintenance, they continue to perform well for years. Flat Roofing Systems for Commercial Use Flat roofs suit commercial buildings and modern designs. They allow easy installation of reflective coatings and insulation layers. These features improve energy efficiency and simplify maintenance. Energy Efficient and Eco-Friendly Roofing Options Energy efficiency starts with reducing heat transfer. Roofing systems that reflect sunlight and improve insulation help maintain stable indoor temperatures. Cool roof coatings push heat away from the building surface. Insulated systems reduce the amount of heat that enters the structure. Together, these features lower energy use and reduce monthly costs. Eco-friendly options also include recycled materials and low-waste installation methods. These choices support both cost savings and environmental responsibility over time. Essential Services That Support Roof Longevity Image by DepositPhotos Even the best materials need regular care. Maintenance keeps your roof performing as intended. Regular Inspections and Preventive Care Routine inspections help identify early signs of damage. Small cracks, loose materials, or flashing issues often go unnoticed without a proper check. Scheduling roof inspections in Georgetown, TX, helps you catch problems early and plan repairs before costs increase. Ongoing Maintenance Practices Maintenance includes clearing debris, sealing vulnerable areas, and checking drainage systems. These steps prevent water buildup and reduce wear over time. Consistent care also lowers the risk of sudden failures that require urgent repairs. Proper Ventilation Ventilation plays a key role in roof performance. Poor airflow traps heat and moisture, which damages materials from the inside. A well-ventilated system improves durability and supports energy efficiency. Handling Repairs and Roof Replacement Damage becomes unavoidable over time. The key is to act early and choose the right solution. Addressing Leaks and Minor Damage Leaks often start small. Quick repairs prevent water from spreading into ceilings and walls. Flashing and joint areas need close attention, as these points fail first. Responding to Storm Damage Storms bring sudden impact. Hail and strong winds weaken roofing materials and create hidden damage. After severe weather, a prompt inspection helps identify issues before they worsen. Knowing When Replacement Is the Better Option Some roofs reach a stage where repairs no longer solve the problem. Frequent leaks, visible sagging, and rising repair costs point to replacement. A new installation gives you the chance to upgrade to more efficient and durable materials. Over time, this reduces maintenance needs and energy costs. Supporting Systems That Protect Your Roof Roof performance depends on more than the surface itself. Supporting components play a key role. Gutters and Drainage Gutters move water away from the structure. Poor drainage leads to water buildup, which damages roofing and foundations. Proper installation and timely repairs keep water flowing in the right direction. Waterproofing Protection Waterproofing adds an extra layer of defense. It protects the structure from moisture intrusion and helps extend the lifespan of roofing materials. How to Choose the Right Roofing Contractor The quality of work depends on the contractor you hire. A careful selection process protects your investment. Look for licensed and insured professionals like Red Oak Roofworks and Restoration. This ensures compliance with local standards and protects you from liability. Ask for clear estimates that outline materials, labour, and timelines. Compare options, but focus on value rather than the lowest price. Review past projects and customer feedback. Reliable contractors show consistent results and clear communication. Ready to Upgrade with Georgetown, TX Roofing Services That Last Your roof protects your home or business every day. Waiting for visible damage leads to higher costs and more disruption. Start with a professional inspection. Review your current roof condition. Identify areas that need repair or improvement. Choose materials that support energy efficiency and durability. If you want a roof that performs well in Texas conditions, take the next step now. Contact a trusted local contractor, request an inspection, and build a plan that protects your property for years. By ML Staff. Images courtesy of DepositPhotos
- Miami-Area Casinos Help Power Florida’s Expanding $58M+ Slot Gaming Sector
Slot gaming is pushing revenue through the roof in Florida by generating tens of millions of dollars, and as an activity, slot gaming is fast becoming a key source of entertainment in Florida. At the heart sits Miami, an entertainment hub driving casino expansion thanks to its high levels of tourism and quality of hospitality. But Florida doesn’t have to stop there, and Miami’s casino resorts are playing a crucial role. Below is an overview of how Miami’s casinos are driving the growth and how this could benefit Florida’s wider economy. Growth of iGaming in Florida According to the Florida Gaming Commission, total slot revenues hit around 58.2 million in the 2024-25 period. This is up from the previous year’s $56.5 million, and Florida is enjoying significant spoils from casino gaming. Annually, casino gaming generated $2.1 billion in gaming tax revenue and tribal revenue share payments at all levels of government. The industry also creates 72,000 jobs. Perhaps revenues could be higher, were it not for Florida law, which only permits slot machine gaming on tribal lands and at legal pari-mutual facilities. Any expansion of commercial casino gaming must be triggered by a citizens’ ballot initiative and approved by voters in a state-wide referendum. The driving force that is Miami The populous city of Miami and the wider Miami-Dade County are a major driving force. In 2024, visitors spent $22 billion while in the county, and, including direct spend, indirect, and induced, tourism had an economic impact of $31.1 billion. That’s the money side, but what about traffic? Well, Greater Miami and Miami Beach, for instance, received 28.2 million visitors in total that year. 5.1 million were international visitors, just some of the many who enjoy Miami’s luxurious hospitality and entertainment and support it with their custom. The fact that people make such a beeline for Miami means its casinos receive lots of visitors. They’re just so accessible through it. Florida casinos So, which casinos are visitors hitting when they land in Miami and wider Florida? Three of the biggest casinos include Magic City Casino, Calder Casino, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood, 1 Seminole Way, Hollywood, Florida. The Seminole tribe has done much to further casino gaming in Florida and support the local economy. The tribe has expanded gaming options at all six of its South Florida casinos. Thanks to the tribe, citizens can now enjoy craps, roulette, and sports betting at the casinos, and the casinos have contributed billions to governmental coffers and created jobs in the state. Casinos and tourism working powerfully together Casinos offer a huge variety. Visitors don’t have to gamble at them. They can watch shows, dine, drink, and, often, follow sports on a screen somewhere. Visitors who are looking for nightlife or to get away from the state’s glorious beaches can find something different at a casino, whether they want to play table games or explore the entertainment at the casino. Visitors who aren’t confident at table games don’t have to play them. They can play on the slots, which are a core part of the gaming entertainment at a casino, but not the sole attraction. Player Engagement It’s easy to understand the popularity of modern slots. Technological advances allow slot developers and designers to incorporate high-quality visuals, engaging music, and bonus games. Players don’t even have to visit the casino to play slots: they can simply play them on their mobiles. If they do, they can still access the promotions and bonuses casinos offer to attract new players and existing ones. Thanks to data analytics and artificial intelligence, casinos can track players’ behavior and personalize the casino gaming experience, including offers and promotions. While comparison platforms help players find the best online casino through helping them to understand how casinos perform and whether they offer good value for money. By presenting clear comparisons across key areas such as game selection, usability, and promotional offers, they make it easier to see how different operators stack up against one another. They can compare casinos against each other, including the bonuses, and make informed decisions about whether to visit an online casino. This added transparency helps players choose platforms that best match their preferences and playing style. The future Florida’s casino network is packed with potential for further growth, although tribal casinos have somewhat of a stranglehold on the local casino industry. At the same time, Florida’s attempts to crack down on illegal operators and illegal electronic games have made slot gaming safer. However, tribal casinos face stiff competition from players choosing to visit overseas-operated online casinos because of the lack of legal commercial casinos. To make casino gaming even safer and increase competition, lawmakers may look at legalizing commercial casinos. Miami casinos are a major driving force of Florida’s slot gaming sector. Strategic investment, tourism, and technology are all combining to produce this powerful growth. The Seminole tribe has a significant role to play, given the number of casinos they own and their compact with the Florida state government. Want to seek your next gaming insight? Visit a site like Casino Guru, which provides info on different casinos and will help you to learn more about the industry itself. By ML Staff
- Navigating VA Benefits for Aging Veterans in the Sunshine State
Florida is home to one of the largest and oldest veteran populations in the country. Of the state's 1.43 million veterans, nearly half are 65 or older, and that number will only grow as the generation that served in Vietnam and the Gulf War moves deeper into retirement. What doesn't grow at the same pace is awareness of what those veterans are actually owed, and for many families, that gap has real consequences. The benefits system can feel like a second tour of duty in terms of paperwork, phone calls, and bureaucratic patience, and many veterans simply don't pursue what they've earned. For families across South Florida trying to sort out care for an aging parent or spouse, the first practical step is often searching for VA home care Florida options, which is where the disconnect between eligibility and action becomes visible. Agencies that specialize in VA-enrolled clients understand the documentation, the timelines, and the coordination with the pension system in ways that general home care providers typically don't. The Benefits Most Families Overlook The VA's Aid and Attendance pension is among the least-understood and most underutilized benefits available to aging veterans. It provides tax-free monthly payments on top of a basic VA pension to veterans who need help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, or managing medications, and the monthly amounts are substantial enough to cover a meaningful share of professional home care costs. Those payments go directly to the beneficiary and can be used however the family sees fit. To qualify, a veteran must have served at least 90 days of active duty with at least one day during a recognized wartime period, which includes World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf War. The net worth limit, which excludes a primary residence and one vehicle, is set annually by Congress and currently sits in the low six figures. A physician's documentation of daily care needs is also required, and that piece is often what delays applications when families try to navigate it on their own rather than with qualified help. The Housebound Benefit and When It Applies Veterans who don't meet the Aid and Attendance threshold may still qualify for the Housebound pension, structured for those who are permanently disabled and spend most of their time at home. The two benefits cannot be received simultaneously, so the goal is to identify which one fits the veteran's current situation and build the application around accurate, well-documented medical evidence. A VA-accredited claims agent, available at no cost through Veterans Service Organizations, can walk through eligibility before a single form is filed. Florida-Specific Advantages Worth Knowing Florida stacks its own benefits on top of federal ones in ways that make a real financial difference. Veterans with a service-connected disability rating of at least ten percent receive a meaningful reduction in their homestead's assessed value for property tax purposes. Those with a total and permanent disability rating pay no property taxes on their primary residence at all, and veterans over sixty-five with a combat-related disability get an additional discount equal to their disability percentage. None of this is automatic. Veterans must apply through their county property appraiser's office, and many families don't realize the exemption exists until years after the veteran would have qualified. Getting Help With the Application Nearly half of all veterans enrolled in VA health care are 65 or older, yet the system was not built with simplicity as a priority. Applications for Aid and Attendance require medical documentation, financial disclosures, discharge records, and, in some cases, supplementary forms specific to the care setting. The VA's Pension Management Centers typically take around five months to process a complete claim, and incomplete submissions start that clock over, which means getting the paperwork right the first time matters more than moving fast. The fastest path through the process is a VA-accredited claims agent or a Veterans Service Organization such as the American Legion, VFW, or DAV, all of which have active chapters throughout South Florida and file claims at no cost. Families should bring the veteran's DD-214 discharge paperwork, recent bank statements, and a physician's letter that specifically describes the veteran's functional limitations and daily care needs. A Note on Sequencing Veterans who may also qualify for Medicaid should get clear guidance before pursuing both simultaneously. The two programs can work together in certain situations, but for veterans in nursing facilities, the VA pension is typically reduced to a nominal amount once Medicaid covers the cost of care. For those who want to remain at home, Aid and Attendance generally works in their favor. The right answer depends on the veteran's specific care needs, assets, and long-term plan, but the monthly payments on the other side of a successful claim can genuinely change what kind of care a family is able to provide. - Inside a New Era of Women’s Health and Longevity with Nicole Peterson Doran
For Nicole Peterson Doran, the future of women’s health is not about quick fixes—it is about ownership, longevity, and finally being heard. Long before she became the co-founder of PUR-FORM in Boca Raton, FL, Doran was a teenager navigating a confusing and deeply personal health journey. At just 15, her body began to change rapidly. She experienced unexplained weight gain, persistent fatigue, brain fog, and hormonal imbalances that didn’t align with her otherwise active, healthy lifestyle. After visits to multiple doctors, she was finally diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and pre-diabetes. Like many women, Doran found herself in a system focused on managing symptoms rather than addressing root causes. That gap in the medical system became the foundation for what would come next. Bridging the Gender Healthspan Gap at PUR-FORM Today, through PUR-FORM, Doran is helping to usher in a new model of care that blends advanced diagnostics, regenerative medicine, and personalized lifestyle strategies to give patients a deeper understanding of their health. “We built this clinic to be what I wish I had access to,” Doran says. “Care that looks at the full picture, not just isolated symptoms.” This approach addresses a critical issue: the gender healthspan gap. Women are being diagnosed with chronic conditions like PCOS earlier than ever, and while they tend to live longer than men, they often spend more years managing chronic illness. At PUR-FORM, patients receive access to a full suite of advanced regenerative therapies designed to repair and optimize the body at a cellular level, targeting hormonal imbalance, inflammation, and metabolic function. Top treatments include peptide therapy, stem cell therapy, hyperbaric oxygen, plasmapheresis, and blood oxygenation ozone treatments. Despite these advanced therapies, Doran emphasizes that the basics still matter most. “Nutrition, strength training, movement, sleep, and stress management are the pillars. The difference is that now we can personalize them in a much more precise way,” she explains. Expanding Longevity with Humanaut Health In 2025, Doran expanded her foothold in the longevity space by co-founding the Palm Beach Gardens location of Humanaut Health alongside Dr. Amy Killen, an anti-aging and regenerative physician. Humanaut Health operates as a premier health optimization clinic designed for those looking to take a proactive, data-driven approach to long-term wellness. At Humanaut Health, members undergo advanced testing that measures more than 250 biomarkers, offering a comprehensive view of everything from hormonal balance to nutrient deficiencies and early indicators of chronic disease. From there, highly personalized protocols are developed, combining targeted therapies, lifestyle optimization, and ongoing performance tracking. While PUR-FORM focuses on regenerative and therapeutic care, Humanaut Health expands the conversation into full-scale optimization, creating a continuous, concierge-style model that evolves alongside each patient’s needs. “Symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, stubborn weight gain, or intense cravings are often brushed off,” Doran explains. “But they can be early signals of deeper imbalances. The goal is to catch those early and actually address what’s driving them... More importantly, it means helping other women realize they do not have to accept feeling unwell as normal.” Through PUR-FORM and Humanaut Health, Doran is not only building clinics but actively reshaping the conversation around women’s health to prioritize longevity, performance, and an optimized quality of life.
