  • Luis Disla Latin Jazz Ensemble Performs in Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month at Jazz at MOCA

The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) is pleased to relaunch its free outdoor “Jazz at MOCA” concert series in-person on the last Friday of every month. Jazz at MOCA returns in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on Sept. 24 from 8-9 p.m. featuring the Luis Disla Latin Jazz Ensemble in partnership with WDNA 88.9 FM Serious Jazz. Grammy-nominated artist Luis Disla is a highly-regarded Latin Jazz saxophonist, flutist, producer, arranger, composer and educator. As a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, Disla has worked with a multitude of top artists, such as Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Kirsty MacColl, Victor Manuelle, Mongo Santamaria, Mario Bauza, Juan Luis Guerra, the Tropicana All Stars, Israel Lopez (Cachao), Carlos Santana, Wyclef Jean, Tabou Combo, Nestor Torres, and more. His music has appeared on over 250 recordings, including commercials for Burger King and Budweiser, on the sound track of the film “I Like It Like That”, and on an episode of Showtime’s “Dexter.” Jazz at MOCA is South Florida’s longest-running free outdoor jazz concert series and one of the museum’s most beloved public programs. Since 1999, Jazz at MOCA has been presented on the MOCA Plaza on the last Friday of the month. Hundreds of concert-goers have enjoyed a free concert, activations, and pay as you wish admission to the museum from 7-10 p.m. The public is invited to enjoy the vibrant sounds of the Luis Disla Latin Jazz Ensemble at 8 p.m., rain or shine. Guests may also walk through MOCA’s two exhibitions, “Michael Richards: Are You Down?” and “Collection Focus: Our Beginnings Never Know Our Ends.” The first museum retrospective of the work of Michael Richards, “Michael Richards: Are You Down?” exhibits both his extensive sculpture and drawing practice. “Collection Focus: Our Beginnings Never Know Our Ends” is an exhibition of artworks that explore ideas of selfhood and the negotiation of relationships featuring works by Ann Agee, Hernan Bas, Christine Borland, Inka Essenhigh, Luis Gispert, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Joel Otterson, Elaine Reichek, Ilene Segalove, Beverly Semmes, Anna-Maria Sircello, Shinique Smith, Michael Vasquez and Helen Verhoeven. Both exhibitions will be on view through Oct. 10, 2021. On view both inside and outside of the museum building is, “After the Rain Comes Light: Portraits of Resilience,” the first collaborative museum exhibition by Miami-based artists Morel Doucet and Stephen Arboite. Also on view through Nov. 14 is the newest “Art on the Plaza” commission by artist Najja Moon, which explores themes of reflection and self-empowerment through a dynamic sculptural intervention resembling a large-scale mirror on MOCA Plaza. • Florida East Coast Industries Lists ParkLine Miami for Sale with Cushman & Wakefield for $500M

Florida East Coast Industries (FECI) announces the listing of ParkLine Miami for $500 million. The property, which consists of two iconic towers totaling 816-luxury residential units, will be listed on the market by the commercial real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield. The firm’s Florida team of Robert Given, Troy Ballard and Zachary Sackley will lead the marketing efforts along with the support of the New York and Los Angeles offices which will include Doug Harmon, Adam Spies and Rob Rubano. The two ParkLine towers are part of a master-plan adjacent to 2 and 3 MiamiCentral, 285,000 SF of Class A office towers, and over 160,000 SF of retail. ParkLine Miami is the largest, single multifamily asset in the Southeastern US to be listed for sale to date. Residents at ParkLine Miami have direct elevator access to the MiamiCentral Brightline station along with the station’s new 26,000 SF culinary center by C3, Citizens, which will house elevated restaurants by globally-renowned chefs such as “Iron Chef” Masaharu Morimoto and Michelin Starred chef Dani García. Residents will also have direct access to retailers such as Publix, Starbucks, Chic-fil-A, Joe & The Juice and Einstein Bagels located adjacent to the property. FECI developed ParkLine Miami as a transit-oriented development to complement the $4.5 billion invested in Brightline trains, the only provider of modern, eco-friendly high-speed rail in the nation. It is the most significant transit-oriented development (TOD) offerings in the Southeastern US. Brightline currently serves Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach with expansion stations in Aventura and Boca Raton opening in 2022. Construction to Orlando is on track to be complete by the end of 2022. Moreover, discussions remain underway with local stakeholders regarding expansion to Disney and Tampa. Brightline projects over nine million annual passengers once all Florida stations are completed. “This is a rare opportunity indeed, as the towers sit directly atop and are connected to the Brightline train platforms, in addition to three other modes of rail transportation and over 160,000 SF of retail in MiamiCentral,” noted Robert Given, executive vice chairman at Cushman & Wakefield. “MiamiCentral will undeniably be the center of gravity of the Miami MSA for generations to come.” The future expansion of MiamiCentral includes a Miami-Dade commuter rail system with stations in Wynwood, the Design District, El Portal, North Miami and FIU’s Biscayne Bay Campus. With the stations in Orlando and Tampa, the connectivity provided by ParkLine Miami is unprecedented in the multifamily environment. “This is unlike any residential property ever built or offered for sale in the Southeast US,” says Given. “ParkLine is the definition of metropolitan living and FECI strategically built these two towers above Brightline to offer a car-optional lifestyle and promote alternative, eco-friendly transportation options,” said Sarah Watterson, chief development officer at FECI. “More and more, people who live at the core of major cities today seek a lifestyle of interconnectivity without sacrificing time and money. ParkLine is meeting those needs and more with its integration to Brightline.” In addition to the Tri-County connectivity provided by Brightline and MiamiCentral, ParkLine Miami’s residents will benefit from Brightline’s new and first-of-its-kind, door-to-door service. This will include a fleet of both private and third-party vendor vehicles supporting point-to-point service beyond the train and making a car-optional lifestyle possible. All services will be available through the Brightline app and will further create transportation access to everything from scooters, bikes and electric micro-rides to shuttles and chauffeured Teslas. Perched above Downtown Miami, at 100 NW 6th Street, ParkLine Miami puts residents just minutes from the city’s hottest neighborhoods, including Wynwood and the Design District, with access to a plethora of dining, retail, arts and culture, and events. Opt for a stroll to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Frost Science Museum, Perez Art Museum or FTX Arena. The property is also adjacent to Miami World Center, a $4 billion development underway with over 300,000 SF of retail slated to begin openings this year. Convenient accessibility to the Miami Metrorail and Metromover allows for a car-free lifestyle, with major thoroughfare I-95 located nearby for those who so desire. To celebrate the opening, Mesa has created an original piece to convey his own expression of the Aston Martin Residences that is being used for the development’s marketing and advertising campaign. Fabio Mesa was born in the city of Medellin, Colombia, and frequently travels to other countries to participate at different exhibitions and to take part in collaborative workshops. From 2014 until today, Mesa has shown his work throughout North America, as well as in major cities that include Miami, New York City, Panama City and Beijing. Mesa has developed his artistic technique of oil and acrylic on canvas, using delicate combinations of gray, silver, gold, black or white, accompanying them with the addition of one or more bright colors to create a vibrating effect and impact, making each work a unique experience. The artworks evolve into a deep intellectual approach towards the viewer, achieving an interactive visual effect. When there is light a vivid and intense color is presented also combined with deep shadows, conveyed in the unique painting created by Mesa for the Aston Martin Residences Miami. When describing his hand-picked collection for the virtual art gallery, Mesa states: "In my work, crowds march toward common goals, which revolve around dreams that human beings share as a society: the search for peace, the struggle for a better life. In my paintings, the 'dreamers' tirelessly search for their dreams on the path of life that is often unknown to them but may lead to freedom and peace in another reality." The Aston Martin Residences in Miami is creating a permanent art gallery on the 52nd floor of the luxury tower, which is due for completion at the end of next year. The Art Gallery celebrates a love of beauty and an appreciation of art in all forms, values shared by developer G&G Business Developments and its partner Aston Martin. Situated in the heart of the cultural crossroads that is Miami Beach, the historic and iconic, art deco Hotel Greystone revives innovative hospitality on Collins Avenue. Led by the award-winning Salt Hotels in partnership with B Group Capital, the boutique Hotel Greystone opens in September 21, 2021, and will meld art and design with exceptional personalized service. Located in the historic Collins Park neighborhood, Hotel Greystone fuses intimate spaces, innovative cuisine and a hyperlocal ethos. The curated atmosphere creates the perfect conditions for people, art, music and fine dining to transcend the predictable, and manifest the uncommon. “The vibe, energy and eclectic mix of people in Miami create one of the most interesting and dynamic centers in America,” said David Bowd Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Salt Hotels. “The Greystone is a historic landmark off Collins Park, within steps of the beach and a true boutique hotel amongst much larger and imposing buildings. Inside the energy will be as vibrant as the community with nightly programming, amazing cuisine and inventive beverages — with the facilities of a large resort but the intimate service and attention to detail of a small boutique.” In refining the Hotel Greystone concept, Salt Hotels co-founders, who also reside in Miami Beach a portion of the year, David Bowd and Kevin O’Shea drew upon their extensive Miami Beach industry experience, including the famed Delano, Shore Club, Mondrian and The Standard. By day, Hotel Greystone’s airy and welcoming corner lobby invites guests 21+ , offering gathering areas, tucked away from the street scene, whilst at night the clink of crystal and melody of piano players take over the Greystone Bar. Built in 1939, the property is one of architect Henry Hohauser's iconic contributions to the area. The Greystone comprises 91 rooms and suites, including a number of penthouse suites with private terraces featuring hot tubs and vista views. Sérêvène, the property's signature restaurant, led by Award winning Executive Chef Pawan Pinisetti. Sérêvène presents a menu that marries Japanese ingredients and French technique. Pinisetti’s dishes are experiential, such as suckling pig carved tableside, and the location’s concept celebrates fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. The restaurant will also offer inventive mixology and a topflight wine program to complement the dine. As guests make their way through the property a shady courtyard will house the hotel’s café, Kobo. The lively outdoor lounge area will feature “sando”-style sandwiches driven by flavors that evoke Miami’s bright, health-oriented fare. Kobo will be adorned with public art, a genuine integration of the city’s creative sensibility. The hotel’s rooftop provides an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. Guests can enjoy the beauty of Miami Beach whilst relaxing poolside with music, craft cocktails and light bites. Guests seeking the sun-and-sand experience can visit Hotel Greystone’s beach, where the same artisanal approach to refreshments and service will be echoed at water’s edge. Holly Muhl of Bowenholly led the interior design, “Our goal was to create something stylish and comfortable that evokes the dynamic layers of Miami Beach,” noted Holly Muhl Founder and CEO of Bowenholly. “The building offers so many opportunities for a sophisticated audience depending on your mood and we wanted every space to give guests an welcome and authentic sense of place.” Located on 1920 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139 Website: http://www.greystonehotel.com/ Hotel Greystone is an expression of Miami Beach past, present and future.
