- The Continuum Partners with ITAVI with a Unique Program for Childcare
New partnership provides parents with a curated wellness curriculum for their children as families focus on a renewed health outlook for the future Continuum, South Florida’s premier resort-style oceanfront condominium residences in Miami Beach, has formed a unique alliance with one of the region’s premium childcare organizations, that focuses on the long-term health and wellness of children as parents and families regain stability following a turbulent two-year pandemic. The Continuum has partnered with itavi, one of today’s premium childcare businesses that engages children with dynamic programming through the placement of trusted childcare services. itavi connects discerning parents with high-quality childcare professionals who are trained to deliver exceptional experiences through an award-winning suite of curated activities and its signature curriculum known as The itavi Method™. This exclusive wellness alliance is considered to be the first of its kind for a luxury residential condominium property. As families and parents resume everyday life as part of a new normal with their children, the effects of COVID-19 and prolonged stress of home schooling, remote working, detachment from family members and uncertain healthcare procedures and regulations has taken a psychological toll not only on young children, but on today’s parents of all ages, who are increasingly concerned about the long-term welfare of their family members and offspring. Curated by a team of industry experts, The itavi Method creates a positive and productive experience that proves memorable for kids, developed to reinstall and enhance physical and emotional wellbeing through a program of activities that includes Playtime, Arts and Crafts, Exercise, Learning and Reading. Cultural Immersion for children throughout the program is also part of the carefully crafted curriculum. “We are delighted to form a most unique coalition with itavi, one of today’s most trusted and premium childcare organizations,” says Rishi Idnani, Managing Director at Continuum. “As a first-time parent myself with a newborn heading in to the pandemic, my wife and I know first-hand the importance of establishing mental and physical stability among young children. After a treacherous 24 months, I’m sure the experience and expertise of itavi’s talented team of childcare professionals will be most welcomed by our residents, families and community of parents.” Following a strict screening process by the management team, all itavi childcare professionals have completed The itavi Method™ training; undergone sexual harassment training; passed emotional intelligence and a mental health assessment; cleared background checks as part of a County, Federal and National Criminal search, as well as a Sex Offender search; undergone a SSN Trace and Global Watchlist search; passed employment and education verifications and have a clean motor vehicle record. “We’re delighted to partner with the Continuum and look forward to working with our first luxury condominium community of families and children,” says Ayana Rodriguez, Founder of itavi. “We understand that many mothers and fathers have experienced a very unsettling two years of nurturing their loved ones, and there has become an increased demand for our method of quality childcare programming. Our aim is to alleviate the pressures of parenting through establishing a broad spectrum of long-term premium childcare services and a curriculum that will enrich the lives and wellbeing of kids of all ages.” In addition to the Continuum, itavi currently works with a number of luxury hotels throughout the South Florida region, including The Biltmore, The Boca Raton, Fontainebleau, 1 Hotel South Beach, The St. Regis Bal Harbour and W South Beach among others. itavi will begin its partnership with the Continuum by introducing a magic show and tutorial with magician, James Changefield on March 12th, followed by an exotic animal show on April 30th with Wild Animal Show. - The City Beautiful with Angel Nicolas
Known as the “City Beautiful,” Coral Gables lives up to its name – an idyllic neighborhood made up of meticulously manicured streets shaded by Banyan trees and influenced by early 20th century Spanish architecture. A pocket of serenity in the middle of a sprawling metropolis, the area blends hints of historic old-world charm with new city vibes. Top real estate advisor Angel Nicolas, founder of The Nicolas Group at Compass, calls Coral Gables home and has been selling real estate in the area for nearly a decade. No one knows the city beautiful quite like him. From the best restaurants to outdoor retreats, Nicolas shares his ultimate guide to Coral Gables. Live Built in the 1920’s, Coral Gables was inspired by stunning Mediterranean Revival architecture that is still very much present throughout the city, and the homes. You’ll also find newer more contemporary residences for those looking for a more modern vibe. There are areas for every style, from ultra-private gated neighborhoods with waterfront estates to fully amenitized country-club-style communities, and more laid-back areas with charming cottages. Cocoplum is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in an ideal location for luxury buyers, where Coral Gables meets Coconut Grove. The neighborhood was originally built as a beach for residents of Coral Gables – in the 70’s it was redeveloped into a single-family home community of about 300 homes. It’s the only gated community with 24/7 security, tennis and basketball courts, a clubhouse, gym, beach volleyball, marina, and so much more. Nestled on the water’s edge, Gables Estate’s is one of the only communities where you can find an acre or more of waterfront land. It’s exclusive, lush and perfect for buyers seeking a certain level of sophistication. Old Cutler Bay is centrally located just blocks from Matheson Hammock Park & Marina and Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. It offers gated 24/7 security and roaming patrol, with direct access to the Ocean through its winding, beautiful canals. It is well established and has been around since the early 1960’s. With 136 homes, most on the waterfront, this is an ideal location for boaters and those who love life on the water. Eat & Drink Coral Gables is home to one of the best food scenes in all of South Florida—a mixture of fine dining, cozy lunch spots, happening happy hours and hidden gems. The Michelin-Star Fiola is hands down one of the best upscale Italian restaurants you can find. You can’t go wrong with the Lobster Ravioli or the Wagyu Short Rib Rotolo. Redfish by Chef Adrianne overlooks the water and has an amazing atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to have a relaxing dinner with family and friends while watching the sunset. Local favorite Bulla Gastrobar is the well-known chain’s first ever location – and in my opinion the best! With phenomenal options for both tapas and drinks, it’s authentic with a Miami twist. I love the Spanish Margarita. The Outdoors Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is an iconic spot to spend the day. The 83-acre garden is filled with rare and tropical plants, it’s magical. Fairchild is the best place in town to spend time outside with family and friends – especially during ‘season’ when the Night Garden experience is at full peak. Old Cutler Trail is a great for jogging and biking along a path shaded by beautiful banyan trees. Matheson Hammock Park is just South of the Gables on a peninsula that extends into Biscayne Bay, with beautiful trails and a marina. I also enjoy spending time at Merrick Park and Miracle Mile to walk around, grab a bite and do a little shopping with my girls. Miracle Mile recently underwent a face lift with the announcement of several new shops, restaurants, and experiences. There are also so many incredible golf courses including The Biltmore, Granada Golf Club and Riviera Country Club. For more information, visit: www.compass.com/agents/angel-nicolas/ By ML Staff. - Opa-Locka Community Development Corporation Presents Exhibition of African Art
The Opa-locka Community Development Corporation (OLCDC) is thrilled to present a brand-new exhibition Beyond Tradition: Contemporary Sculptures from Africa. The exhibition is curated by internationally renowned curator Tumelo Mosaka, the former lead curator for the Investec Cape Town Art Fair. The exhibition challenges Western cultural norms and perspectives of what contemporary African art is by presenting African sculpture in dialogue with works from some of Africa’s exciting artists. According to Mosaka, “In conceiving this exhibition, I wanted to turn a lens onto places less known in Africa, and in particular, Zimbabwe and Tanzania where artists have served as custodians as well as innovators. I want to bring a new understanding of the complexity and subtlety of African art and culture in contemporary times.” “The end result is, a realization that African artists are pushing beyond Westernized notions of the African Diaspora, toward a more global conversation about humanity and their place in the world and they are doing so in the most eloquent of ways,” concluded Mosaka. The exhibition takes advantage of OLCDC’s impressive holdings from its Karg Collection and features various stone and wood sculptures representing traditions from regions in Africa, including Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Tanzania, where carving tradition has a long cultural history. Featured artists include Sylvster Mubayi, Bernard Takawira and Edward Masaya, among others. Additionally, the exhibition will include paintings from famed artists Ouattara Watts, known for his large-scale canvas works that incorporate cryptic symbols, geometric designs and numerical sequences that speak to his cross-cultural identity and Malatanga Valente Ngwenya, a pioneer of modern African art with an aesthetic that is defined by a dense assembly of figures. “We are very pleased to be able to show wonderful, important pieces from our Karg Collection and to do so in curatorially meaningful ways,” said Willie Logan, OLCDC’s President and CEO. “Beyond Tradition is a world class exhibition, made possible by the generosity of William R. Karg, the brilliance of Tumelo Mosaka, and our commitment to providing quality arts programming to our South Florida community,” continued Logan. “As curator and educator, it gives me great pleasure to take the curatorial work of Tumelo Mosaka and develop substantive educational programming and community engagement,” said Adrienne Chadwick, Art Manager at the OLCDC. According to Chadwick, throughout the exhibition’s six-month run, she has prepared interactive programs that are designed to excite, engage, and educate visitors, including an art lecture, carving workshop, African marketplace, and Afro Beats party. Beyond Tradition is open to the public between February 25th and August 28th , 2022, at the ARC, which is located at 675 Ali-Baba Avenue in Opa-locka. The free exhibition is open every second Saturday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. and by appointment any other time. To make an appointment or for more information, please visit www.olcdc.org/beyondtradition For more information about upcoming programming, please visit www.olcdc.org. More on the Karg Collection Donated by William R. “Bill” Karg in 2018, the Karg Collection consists of seventy works of sculpture, paintings, and works on paper from many of the African Continent’s most renowned, well-regarded contemporary artists. The Collection represents the life’s work of Bill Karg, a gallerist and collector, and expert in contemporary African art. Bill Karg founded the Contemporary African Art Gallery in New York City in 1987, where he exhibited and represented internationally recognized African artists from across the Continent, for more than thirty years. Karg has lived in Africa for extended periods and has worked on a range of development projects in various capacities for the World Bank, USAID, the United Nations, and various African governments. - DIOR Spring-Summer 2021 Collection
For Maria Grazia Chiuri, each collection consists not only of conceiving a series of pieces designed to accommodate the body of the woman who wears them, but it also entails a reflection on societal transformations, or a reaction to current events, as Christian Dior described it in his autobiography. The creative director of DIOR women’s collections is compelled by a dual movement: that of life, and that of fashion. We are traversing a period of crisis that is radically transforming behaviors, habits and rituals. “In a context that favors the image, rediscovering the value of words can help creation, for the word, in its graphic form, is also a design.” Click below to launch slideshow > By ML Staff. - Giorgio Armani Spring-Summer 2022 Womenswear Collection
A return to an intimate, cozy dimension: clothes shown close to the audience, so that one can almost reach out and touch. After more than twenty years, Giorgio Armani comes back at presenting the collection at Via Borgonuovo 21, in the historic theatre that has been the backdrop for some memorable fashion shows. The collection is a comeback, too: a métissage of exquisitely Armanian tropes mixed with nomadic scents, decorations and colors that seem to have been gathered during a journey or a trip to be reinterpreted with an urban feel. The counterpoint of precision and freedom is achieved with remarkable lightness, of both materials and hues. Two accents recur, creating continuity: knotted scarves or crocheted caps covering the head, and the flat shoes, open on the toe or laced around the foot. The collection opens in blue and white with lively touches of red: soft and elongated jackets, some with knotted closures; trousers as wide as skirts, or with tapered volumes; little tops, and tunics. Movement becomes impalpable in the sequence of pale and airy greys, soft blues and greens for pure jackets, flowing trousers and long floaty skirts. Colors explodes in a gypsy juxtaposition of reds and purples, and plays of spontaneous layerings. Accessories add a note of bold, streamlined design: handbags with rounded shapes, or small bags with curved handles, and then large totes and crocheted shoulder bags. Eveningwear is a feast of light: luminous, weightless gowns that barely skim the body, made of layers of tulle that create melting, surprising, infinitely soft nuances of color. By ML Staff. - The Gucci 100 Collection: A Tribute to Past & Present
Conceived as a tribute to celebrate the centennial of the Maison, Gucci 100 manifests a deep connection between two universal languages, the language of clothing as an expression of personal identity and the language of music that recalls a collective memory. “It isn’t a revisionist attempt to rummage through the past: if anything, mine is a ‘reverse’ revisionism of the House’s history, stitched back together by a piercing note, a melody, a refrain. Also because, if I were to depict Gucci, for me it would be an eternal teenager who hangs out at places where music is heard and played”, continues Alessandro Michele. A century-long heritage prompts reflection on the staying power of the brand and, through a contemporary lens, how profusely it contributed to the vocabulary of pop culture. A key theme within the Gucci 100 collection takes its cue from a number of songs that mention the brand. A selection of lyrics from these songs adorns ready-to-wear and accessories, at times together with the Gucci 100 logo, designed for the occasion, in a side-by-side tribute to past and present. - Gucci Presents Love Parade Campaign
Here we are. Right in the aura reflected by these images. Beauty is not stillness. It comes from tension—indeed, from conflict. It is constantly in the making. Images and imagination run fast, and forward. We stand here, staring at the lights in the street. We follow the auratic silhouettes that we saw striding majestically along Hollywood Boulevard: a procession of figures from that modern myth that is cinema, revived by the always present tense of fashion. A sequence of our obsessions and desires transformed into a tale of characters who steal life to become fashion, thanks to a performative space that blurs the boundaries between body and clothing. A visual novel in double time: looking and being looked at. In the meanwhile, other stars (divinities), boisterous and wild, take center stage in the street. “I thought about how my mother raised me as a devout worshipper of beauty. “About the gift of dreaming, which I cannot go without. About the aura of cinema, which generates mythologies”. This is why I chose Hollywood Boulevard”, writes Alessandro Michele to explain this journey to the origins of his life story. Together with the origins of the mythology of Gucci. We continue to follow them. They’re on their way to celebrate the ritual of the banquet. A feast that sees human beings and divinities sitting side-by-side at lavish tables. The protagonists of our dreams as they might appear in our fantasies: Beanie Feldstein, Deng Lun, Jared Leto, Jungjae Lee, Liu Wen, Miley Cyrus and Snoop Dogg give themselves to a liberating symposium that slides into the Dionysiac ritual of dancing. The gaze focuses on the sudden, swift changes of texture caressing different surfaces. Where does the fabric of the clothes begin and where does the texture of the skin begin? Clothes, bodies, spaces, all obsessively concentrated in the sequence of freeze-frames and movements that Alessandro Michele arranges with the complicity of photographers Mert&Marcus, following a script that aims to keep the eros that resonates in the stares. While the authors create the atmosphere, the clothes direct the gestures. Their secret is being aware of the threshold – queer or phantasmic – of the hands that brings bodies to words and words to bodies. Clothes restore desire; articulate it; providing a map. Sudden movements and contractions are more seductive than subdued smoothness. A laboratory. A rave. An arena studded with epiphanies.
