  • GUCCI Introduces GG Canvas in Blue

Mirroring the material’s historic origins, GG Canvas is reintroduced in a timeless mix of blue and beige for Gucci Love Parade. With a low environmental impact, the canvas has come to the forefront of each collection decade after decade to become a hallmark of the House. Drawing from the Archive, the classic palette defines a wide array of products for both men and women and is declined on the Leather Goods world and in particular on an extensive selection of Luggage. Today, luggage remains part of the Gucci narrative, even more so in the Love Parade collection as the offering expands to include a variety of materials and functional bags, including roller suitcases and duffles. The blue GG canvas is revived through a dedicated campaign where the attention is focused entirely on the motif.. From the floor to the ceiling, everything featured within the setting is decked out in the signature pattern. The Gucci items blend with the backdrop, just defined by the blue leather trim and the blue-red-blue Web stripe. To learn more visit www.gucci.com. By ML Staff. Images courtesy of Gucci. • The GRFTR Fleck by Mallet London

A step in the right direction…Mallet London introduces its new sneakers for men and women, The GRFTR Fleck, with sustainable aspects. Mallet London, the British sneaker brand that is taking the US by storm, is taking another important step, this time towards sustainability. The new GRFTR Fleck sneaker which launches on June 1st, as part of their Pre AW22 collection, marks the beginning of a deliberate move by the brand to start their journey into becoming more sustainable, changing the way they approach their products and business, from both a production level and exploring the end of the footwear lifecycle. ‘This has been a long time coming’ says Tommy Mallet, the British Creative Director and Co Founder. ‘It’s exciting that we get to take one of our iconic and best selling styles and make these changes on our journey towards a more sustainable sneaker.’ On the work they have been doing in the past year to gear up to this moment, he says ‘We have updated our leather sourcing, so we now exclusively work with environmentally conscious manufacturers, and our mesh, which is used on most of our styles now comes from recycled mesh. Although we are still far from where we want to be, it’s progress.’ The GRFTR is a classic silhouette for the brand and remains part of its core collection. The sneaker, designed in London, is crafted from leather and features the signature Mallet London heel clip. This time, the thick sole of the GRFTR is made from 20% recycled material, hence the fleck detailing you see. The laces have been crafted from fully recycled plastic. Not stopping there, the iconic black and gold packaging the shoes are presented in, is made up of 80% recycled materials, as is the branded shoe horn that is included as a finishing touch with every pair of Mallet London sneakers. The shoe will initially drop in black and white for mens, and black and white for womens. The name, like all Mallet sneakers, is personal for Tommy. A ‘grafter’ in the UK means a ‘hard worker’. This shoe was called the GRFTR because it reflects the work ethic of Tommy and the graft that had to be done to get the brand to where it is today. ‘Customer’s these days are particularly engaged with brands with purpose’ says Tommy, ‘ones that lead with authenticity and are transparent with their processes. The bigger picture is for us to move towards a more environmentally friendly business module. But for now, this is an important step in the right direction.’ As an added initiative, a customer can turn in their minimum one year old GRFTR Flecks at a Mallet London store or online and have them recycled into new shoes and receive a 10% discount on a future purchase. The GRFTR Fleck drops worldwide in limited numbers on June 1 exclusively at us.mallet.com and is priced at $265. • Splashing Lights: 2022 Miami Swimwek Wave Fashion Show

Miami Swim Week 2022 will be forever changed by this year’s 2nd Annual WAVE fashion show. The outdoor event located where Washington Avenue meets Española Way East has been extended from its original one day run to a two-day extravaganza featuring 12 designers and two a-list, 90s-era chart-topping performers in Ginuwine and Jon B. Images courtesy of Muurswagg The show is scheduled for Friday, July 15th and Saturday, July 16th and will include designers like MuurSwagg, House of Athlete, Novados Swim, and Shugakane Swim. The full list of designers will be published closer to the event. This is a ticketed event with limited seating each night and seats are expected to sell out. One thing that didn’t change this year, is the iconic 100-feet runway that will be erected just for the occasion. Images courtesy of Novados Swim “The runway was such a hit last year, there was no way we could do the show again and pivot away from it,” WAVE Executive Director, Troy E. Wright said. “The BID’s objective is to always bring positive attention to what is happening on Washington Avenue and participating in Miami Swim Week is an opportunity to capture everyone’s attention.” Images courtesy of House of Athlete This year the BID made the bold decision to advertise the show in New York City’s famed Times Square, where the billboard is scheduled to run from now through the end of show. Additionally, the BID partnered with iHeartMedia to provide the event’s house DJ, Loui Vee, program director for iHeart’s 105.3 The Beat, which is home to the popular show, “The Breakfast Club” weekday mornings. The addition of live music performances to the lineup is an untraditional take on the typical fashion show but Event Planner, Ailene Torres, of A Plus Event Production Company, Inc., believes straying from industry norms is a risk worth taking. “We want to produce a memorable experience, so the next time people see WAVE or a designer from our show, they will connect the fabulous time they had in Miami Beach to their next vacation or purchasing decision. This show will create positive brand recognition for the designers, WAVE, and Miami Beach as a whole.” By ML Staff. Images courtesy of Slpashing Lights

  • Sam Watson, PBC Boxing Ambassador, to Attend "Splashing Lights 2022 Miami Wave Swim Fashion Show"

The legendary Sam Watson, PBC Boxing Ambassador, confirmed his attendance at Splashing Lights: 2022 Miami SwimWeek WAVE Fashion Show early Saturday morning via his representative, Charles Townsend of CLT Entertainment. Splashing Lights, the premier event for the Washington Avenue Business Improvement District (BID), is scheduled for Friday, July 15th and Saturday, July 16th where Washington Avenue and Española Way East meet. Watson, a long-time friend and right hand of boxing promotions giant, Al Haymon, has ascended to his own legendary status, with a track record of years of success and a stable of 300 prized fighters. As a kid, Watson was a fan of Muhammad Ali, and later, his friend. The opportunity to return to where it began for his friend was one he refused to pass up. “I love working with fighters, it’s what we do,” Watson said. “I looked up to Ali because he inspired me, and now, it’s my opportunity to inspire the next generation of fighters.” Watson returns to Miami Beach as himself, the legend, at what promises to be a star-studded event and the new highlight of Miami Swim Week 2022. This year’s annual WAVE fashion show is an outdoor, two-day event featuring chart-topping talent in Ginuwine and Jon B, respectively. The full list of designers has yet to be released, but so far, MuurSwagg, House of Athlete, Novados Swim, and, new line, Shugakane Swim have made the cut to show on the 100-ft runway. “When we got the call about Mr. Watson joining us, we knew Splashing Lights had arrived,” said Ailene Torres, Chief Strategist at A Plus Event Production Co. Inc. “We are turning Swim Week on its head and the right people are noticing.” Now, that Watson has publicly committed, NFL All Pro and Super Bowl Champion, Bryant McKinnie, has signed on to attend as Watson is scheduled to appear on his iHeartMedia podcast, Mac and Meeka. Each day more celebrities confirm their attendance including MLB great Barry Larkin, his NBA player son, Shane, and pro golfer, Miko Page. Watson’s appearance will help the WAVE BID achieve its goal of getting the maximum exposure for the designers. “It is about helping them reach as many people as possible,” said WAVE BID Executive Director, Troy E. Wright. “Mr. Watson’s presence at Splashing Lights is the one-two punch we needed. The first hit is the jolt of energy he will bring to the Avenue and its rich boxing history, the second is the light we want to shine on the designers in the show.” By ML Staff.
