- Rosie's – The Backyard Introduces A New Dinner Series
Miami’s Southern culinary hot spot Rosie’s: The Backyard is welcoming culinary enthusiasts to engage in a night of revelry and fine dining as it introduces a new dinner series created by Executive Chef Akino West. This exclusive dinner party will feature a multi-course menu (with optional wine pairing) of indulgent cuisine under the twinkling lights and banyan tree of the open-space concept. A harmonious playlist of R&B, jazz and soul music will set the mood and liven the ambiance. Inspired by Chef West’s culinary repertoire, Southern upbringing and years working alongside chefs at award-winning restaurants, the dinner includes five carefully curated courses, featuring an array of elevated Southern-inspired dishes with subtle Italian nuances. “When creating the menu for this first dinner series, I wanted to honor and put a spin on classic dishes I grew up making with my family,” said West. “The Grandma’s Sweet Potato Pie is a perfect example, as I incorporated the brown butter to give it an elevated and sweet finish.” First and second courses include Spiced Peanuts spiked with Calabrian oil; Tender Crab with crispy shallots and Florida citrus; and Collard Green Arancini with smoked yogurt. Main courses include a Grilled Pork Chop with a Southern polenta cake, savory jus, charred okra, and dehydrated feta. The final course will include a palette cleanser and Grandma’s Sweet Potato Pie, made with semolina and brown butter. “The goal of the series is to create a memorable on-off experience as each menu is exclusive to each night, the playfulness and high level of execution of each menu will give our audience a peek of what is in store for the future of Rosie’s.” said co-owner Jamila West. The inaugural dinner party will take place Monday, November 14, at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and is $75 per guest with the option to add a wine pairing for $35 per guest along with a pescatarian or vegetarian tasting option for an additional $10 per guest. Tickets can be purchased at Resy.com. For more information, visit www.rosiesmia.com or follow Rosie’s on Instagram. - The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach Champions Local Artists for Miami Art Week 2022
The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach - together with hotel ownership from the Ben Josef family, Kanavos family, and Lowenstein family - is extremely proud to continue its Art For Good program this Miami Art Week 2022 by celebrating the past 70 years of Miami’s iconic history with the help of brilliant local artists across various disciplines, including innovative design, dynamic music, and contemporary dance. Taking place on Tuesday, November 29th, the culmination of the Art For Good program will be a spectacular, immersive concert entitled ‘Seven Decades and Beyond’ featuring the Miami Symphony Orchestra, 3D printed sonic sculptures specially designed for the event by MONAD Studio, and an innovative dance performance from the Miami City Ballet. Through this groundbreaking event, the hotel will celebrate the creative, artistic hub that Miami has become and all the city has achieved in the past 70 years. The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach - a Miami Beach Art Basel 2022 official hotel partner - is hosting this multi-sensory celebration to show Ladies and Gentleman from across the globe who travel to the Magic City for Art Week, why Miami is home to Art Basel and other major fairs. Spotlighting local talents, The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach highlights an expansive interpretation of art including the creative manifestations of architects, designers, musicians, dancers, and more. “Art is so much more than just paint on canvas, and we are honored to use our Art For Good platform at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach to celebrate the immensely talented and innovative local artists based in Miami who are creating outstanding art outside of traditional mediums,” says Ronit Neuman, co-owner of The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach and Artistic Director of Sagamore South Beach. “In a week that is usually so focused on international artists, The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach wanted to dedicate Miami Art Week 2022 to championing world-class artists right here in our South Florida community who are breaking down the barriers of what it means to be an artist.” Kicking off the highly-anticipated event, together with a roster of acclaimed artists and partners, The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach will roll out the red carpet and offer crisp sparkling wine from Fabio Lamborghini’s new, exclusive luxury lifestyle brand FL Fuoriserie as they arrive at the landmark Morris Lapidus-designed hotel. While sparkling wine flows from a show stopping champagne tower, dancers from the Miami City Ballet will float amongst the guests, delighting the audience with an immersive performance. Ladies and Gentlemen will then enter the grand concert space in the hotel’s ballroom where the world-renowned Miami Symphony Orchestra will perform a specially curated collection of locally significant music, selected by celebrated conductor Eduard Marturet. The song list is set to include iconic hits like Guantanamera by Celia Cruz, Conga by Gloria Estefan & the Miami Sound Machine, and Timber by Pitbull, and it will be a moving musical tribute to the last seven decades of Miami’s one-of-a-kind history, art, and culture. Specifically for the show, the prestigious MONAD Studio, cofounded by local artists Eric Goldemberg and Veronica Zalcberg, will design and 3D print unique sonic sculptures. With the help of the knowledgeable South Florida-based luthier Scott F. Hall, these sonic sculptures will be bright, grandiose instruments that the Miami Symphony Orchestra will play to serenade a crowd of local and regional notables, tastemakers, politicians, art collectors, and artists alike. The instruments will include astounding renditions of a piano, a lap guitar and xenophone, a twin serpent, a zhu, a bichord, a slide guitar, and a segmented bass guitar. When the spectacular pieces are not being played, they will be proudly displayed in the resort’s glamorous lobby for all Miami Art Week patrons to admire. All art displayed on the property during Art Week - including the inimitable sonic sculptures - will be available for auction beginning Thursday, November 17th through BidAid, an international all-inclusive, silent-auction platform. Proceeds from all purchases will be donated to the Miami City Ballet, the Miami Symphony Orchestra, Young Musicians Unite, and Circle X Green Trillion Club. “Utilizing our international brand and our local presence, the ownership and Ladies and Gentlemen of the hotel are committed to making a lasting impact on the community by celebrating the arts and the positive effects it has on everyone’s lives,” says Jacqueline Volkart, Market General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach and The Ritz-Carlton, Bal Harbour. “This is why we are proud to use our Art For Good program during Miami Art Week 2022 to promote the healing power of the arts and how we can use it to benefit meaningful causes.” The Miami Art Week 2022 Art For Good program and the Seven Decades & Beyond concert is made possible by our incredibly generous sponsors including but not limited to BHI, Bilzin Sumberg, Charles Schwab, Deutsche Bank, and Ocean Bank. - Gucci Presents Exquisite
Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele, shares his personal views on Exquisite – Gucci's latest campaign celebrating one of cinema's brightest maestros, Stanley Kubrick. I’ve always been charmed by cinema. For its power to tell stories that can probe human adventure and its drift. For its visionary power to dig up in the real, making it vertiginously imaginative and questionable. Such a careful look on the human, after all, is so close to me. I could never imagine clothes as severed from the story and life of the person wearing them. If you ask me, a garment is not, and never will be, just a piece of fabric. It’s rather the means through which we are able to unfold who we really decide to be, it’s how we shape our desires and the ultimate sense of our staying. That’s why I’ve always imagined my collections as films able to convey a cinematography of the present: a score of stories, eclectic and dissonant, that can sacralize the human and its metamorphic ability. The “Exquisite” campaign is my tribute to cinema and to one of its brightest maestros, Stanley Kubrick. A philosophic filmmaker who, better than others, emanated the magic of that inextricable knot through which cinema exudes life and magnifies it. I’ve always admired Kubrick’s remarkable capacity in tackling very different subjects. His experimental drive goes beyond any possible categorization. Every film, in fact, digests the manifold souls where dystopia meets parody, drama becomes human comedy, horror looks like a psycho-philosophic treatise, the feeling of truth evolves into the uncanny. Kubrick was, in essence, a real sculptor of genres: the “cross-genre” director, ahead of his time. His ability to build stories that exceed significance, crossing borders and setting labels on fire, has always been deeply inspiring to me. - The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA) Offers Public Programming Throughout November
Through the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA)’s continued efforts to include diverse voices and perspectives, the museum is offering a robust series of educational and public programming throughout the month of November, in celebration of Native American Heritage Month. MOCA is also proud to announce the openings of its Fall 2022 and Miami Art Week exhibitions: “Didier William: Nou Kite Tout Sa Dèyè” and Leah Gordon’s “Kanaval.” Debuting on Nov. 2, 2022, “Didier William: Nou Kite Tout Sa Dèyè” (through April 16, 2023) is the largest solo presentation of Didier William’s career. Translated as “We’ve Left That All Behind,” the show presents an in-depth look at the Haitian-born, North Miami-raised artist’s career and memory among the very neighborhood where he once grew up. Curated by Erica Moiah James, Ph.D., the exhibition will feature over forty works spanning multiple mediums and including some of his newest paintings. Complementing the painted work and speaking to the close relationship of painting and printmaking in William’s practice, are new drawings and artist books. The show also includes William’s first monumental sculpture: a 12-ft.-tall wooden body emblematic of a religious column present in Haitian worship rituals. Opening Nov. 9, 2022 is “Kanaval,” a survey by photographer, filmmaker, curator, and writer Leah Gordon that documents twenty years of Carnival in Haiti. Curated by Adeze Wilford, the exhibition consists of a series of black-and-white photographs taken on a mechanical medium format camera.
