- Aston Martin Residences Art Gallery Presents Exhibit by Save The Chimps
Save The Chimps becomes the latest exhibitor for its Virtual Art Gallery exhibition series and first non-profit partner. The Aston Martin Residences Art Gallery introduces a unique collaboration with Save The Chimps, for a new exhibit entitled “Interspecies,” that will be featured for 45 days as a three-dimensional immersive experience, replicating the residence’s physical art gallery being developed on the 52nd floor. The virtual exhibit is live at https://astonmartinresidences.github.io/virtualtour/. Based in Fort Pierce, Florida, Save the Chimps is one of the largest chimpanzee sanctuaries in the world, whose mission is to provide refuge and exemplary care to chimpanzees in need. Save the Chimps offers life-long care for chimpanzees retired from research laboratories, the pet trade, and entertainment industry. The B-52s band members, Kate Pierson, Fred Schneider and Cindy Wilson, collaborated with Save The Chimps and its chimp artists from the 150-acre refuge to create a collection of acrylic-on-canvas paintings that are included in the exhibit, based on the vivid colors of the band’s most popular album covers. Kate and her fellow band members paint the base canvases in various background colors and select the color combinations for the chimps to finish each piece of art in their own style of brushstroke. Each piece in the collection of works has been named after a B-52s song or lyric and is signed by the band members. All proceeds benefit Save the Chimps. Also featured in the new virtual exhibit are works by artist Karen Bystedt, who donated original prints from her ‘Lost Warhols’ series of work for the chimps to paint on—much like Warhol himself painted on photos of celebrities. Rounding out the exhibit are five paintings featuring chrome backgrounds with colorful brushstrokes added by ape artists, each piece named for a classic Aston Martin model. “We’re delighted to present the next virtual art exhibition for Aston Martin Residences,” says Dan Mathews, Director of Events at Save The Chimps. “It’s been an historic year for our artistic chimps at the sanctuary, with popular exhibits in partnership with The B-52s shown at renowned fairs across the country, including Spectrum Miami most recently in December. We’re thrilled to be chosen for this alliance with such a prestigious brand. The new virtual exhibit will be in conjunction with our next art fair exhibition at this year’s Artexpo New York in April, where we’ll be unveiling our next celebrity artist collaboration.” Save The Chimps is also pleased to present an original interpretation for the Aston Martin Residences’ permanent collection – inspired by the residences’ sail-shaped architecture and tropical environment – complete with individual brushstrokes by some of the most talented artistic chimps at the sanctuary, making this unique piece a truly collaborative interspecies work of art. Save The Chimps’ Interspecies exhibit can now be viewed at the Aston Martin Residences art gallery at https://astonmartinresidences.github.io/virtualtour/. By ML Staff. - Simona Halep's Triumphant Return: A Tale of Resilience
After an 18-month hiatus from professional tennis, Simona Halep made a much-anticipated comeback at the Miami Open today. Despite facing a defeat against Spain’s Paula Badosa with a score of 1-6, 6-4, 6-3, Halep exited the court with a beaming smile. Speaking to the attending media, she expressed her gratitude for the warm reception: "Today holds a special place in my heart, honestly, given the challenges I've overcome. To play so well, feel the court beneath me, and experience such support from fans—it's an unforgettable moment for me. - When Sports Meets eSports: 4 Athletes Who Invested in eSports
Outside of traditional sports, the world of eSports may seem intimidating or overwhelming to non-gamers. However, the thriving community has rapidly grown in the past few decades. Today, the global eSports market is projected to reach $2.06 billion in 2024 and $9.29 billion by 2032. Market researchers associate this with the growing trend of live-streaming games, rising viewership, engagement activity, and gaming investments. Part of the reason for the heavy investment in eSports is that it may feel familiar or similar to traditional sports for most investors. For one, eSports's competitive nature and organizational structure are not new to those who follow traditional sports entertainment entities like the NBA and FIFA. Another similarity between the two worlds is the growing eSports betting culture. Much like its traditional counterpart, the best eSports betting tips recommend watching live streams of tournaments to learn and pick up valuable in-game information that can help provide a betting advantage. While there are elements of luck and randomness in eSports betting — as is evident in sports betting — taking the time to research teams, players, tournament formats, and performance statistics can greatly improve your chances of winning. With such a familiar betting culture, it's no wonder that even traditional sports athletes are gaining interest in the thriving eSports industry. However, their interest in eSports wouldn't manifest in competitive appearances but financially. Below, we'll look at four well-known athletes who have invested in eSports: Lionel Messi and KRÜ Esports Dubbed one of the greatest of all time, Lionel Messi's interest in eSports saw the soccer star investing in the Argentinian eSports organization, KRÜ Esports. In 2023, the organization announced the FIFA legend as a co-owner, partnering up with fellow Argentine soccer player Sergio Agüero, who owns KRÜ Esports. Currently, KRÜ is considered one of the most influential LATAM eSports teams. It has rosters for first-person shooter eSports title Valorant and a female team, KRÜ Blaze, for Valorant's female leagues. KRÜ's men's team recently rocked the Valorant eSports scene for going undefeated in the 2023 Americas' Last Chance Qualifiers, earning the team a spot in the international Champions stage. Of course, this is only one of Messi's various ventures. In 2023, after he departed from Paris Saint-Germain, Messi joined Inter Miami CF. The team recently partnered with the leading hunger-relief organization, Feeding South Florida and Publix to honor South Florida Veterans on Veterans Day. The inaugural Veterans Appreciation Luncheon occurred at DRV PNK Stadium on November 11. Shaquille O'Neal and NRG Esports Former NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal — or Shaq — is also one of many athletes who are interested in eSports. In 2013, Shaq attended an eSports event — the League of Legends Season 3 World Championship, which was held at the Staples Center. Three years later, Shaq teamed up with North American organization NRG Esports, investing a whopping $155 million in the company. Incidentally, the organization was formed by the basketball team Sacramento Kings' co-owners Mark Mastrov and Andy Miller. Today, NRG has roster divisions for various eSports titles, from the MOBA League of Legends to shooters like Overwatch and Valorant. Shaq's investment into NRG was joined by other athletes, including former baseball pros Alex Rodriguez and Jimmy Rollins. In 2018, Dutch DJ and producer Tiësto joined NRG as an investor. Recently, Shaq showcased his support for NRG's Valorant team with a tweet promoting NRG's in-game purchasable bundle that included gun skins for use in the game. Michael Jordan and Team Liquid Another NBA legend, Michael Jordan, is no stranger to eSports. In 2018, the Charlotte Hornets' owner joined a $26 million Series C funding round by aXiomatic — an eSports and gaming investor whose various companies and organizations include Team Liquid, a multi-regional professional eSports organization based in the Netherlands. The remaining funding comprised capital from existing investors like Golden State Warriors' co-owner Peter Guber and Tampa Bay Lighting owner Jeff Vinik. Jordan is also joined by 1992 Olympic teammate Magic Johnson as a co-owner of aXiomatic. The remaining funding for aXiomatic comprised capital from existing investors like Golden State Warriors' co-owner Peter Guber and Tampa Bay Lighting owner Jeff Vinik. 1992 Olympic teammate Magic Johnson also joins Jordan as a co-owner of aXiomatic. In 2021, five players signed by Team Liquid became co-owners, including amateur Super Smash Bros. player and Hollywood actor Asa "Stimpy" Butterfield. Vinicius Jr and LOUD Finally, another soccer player joins the list of eSports athlete-investors. Brazilian professional soccer player and winger for Real Madrid, Vinicius Jr, was announced as a co-owner of the Brazilian eSports organization LOUD in 2023. Vini Jr's participation goes beyond financial contribution. As co-owner, Vinicius Jr will assist the organization with content production and expand on educational initiatives created by the Vini Jr Institute. A fairly new organization in the eSports scene, LOUD etched its name in Valorant eSports history when its Valorant roster lifted the champions trophy at the Valorant Champions 2022, earning $300,000. Of course, the four legendary athletes we listed above are only four of many sportsmen joining the growing eSports scene. Today, many Hollywood household names like Will Smith and Drake have also shown interest in eSports by investing in global organizations. As the eSports industry continues to grow, it'll be interesting to see what other sports legends will take an interest in competitive gaming. By ML staff. Images courtesy of Wikimedia.

At The Collab, Chef Nico's culinary voyage weaves through Mediterranean and Asian flavors, each dish a chapter in his remarkable story, starting with Lycée Régional Hôtelier Jean-Paul Passedat in Marseille, where he dedicated six years to mastering and refining his culinary prowess before gaining real-life experience under Chef Dominique Frerard at Le Trois Forts at Sofitel Marseille. After moving to Miami for new perspectives outside of France, Chef Nico assumed leadership at Nobu in 2010, steering the brand to new heights, opening new Nobu concepts in Australia, the Philippines, Las Vegas, and Miami before crafting the famed MediterrAsian concept, MILA. Each stop and experience of his career embodies the essence of The Collab — a testament to Chef Nico's eclectic journey, where global influences intertwine to create a menu of shareable plates and lighter fare infused with seasonal ingredients. In homage to the diversity of culinary traditions, The Collab breathes life into a rich tapestry of flavors through its carefully crafted menu of visually appealing small bites designed for sharing. Guests can start their meal with options, including “Kusshi” West Coast Oyster, served with a fresh green apple and shallot mignonette, or the light and clean Salmon Sashimi, wrapped around Asian pear, served with blood orange dressing and apple chutney with lime. Opt for the tender Spanish Octopus, braised then grilled to perfection, accompanied by a hazelnut piquillo emulsion and lime crema. The Croquettes, a delightful blend of blue crab and corn, are elevated with aji amarillo aioli and caviar over a bed of fresh Parmigiano. Guests can continue their culinary journey with the Wagyu Tartare, prepared with black garlic, truffle aioli, and pickled mustard seeds, served with a bao bun, or the Grilled Branzino, served with crispy capers and a sage soy vinaigrette. The menu also offers various vegetable-forward options, including the savory Oven-Roasted Leek, a modern version of the traditional French dish Poireaux Vinaigrette, beautifully prepared over an open flame and topped with miso aioli, crispy leeks, and niçoise tapenade vinaigrette, or the roasted Baby Corn, served with sweet demi, chili powder and freshly shaved cheese. Guests can conclude their culinary experience with the "Basque" Cheesecake A La Mode, a creamy delight satisfying any sweet tooth. The Collab will also feature an extensive selection of craft cocktails carefully curated to complement Chef Nico's clean, fresh flavors, including the Cosmic Cosmo, which infuses Atian Gin with botanicals and yuzu for a tangy flavor, complemented by the citrus flavors of orange cordial and cranberry, all enhanced with a touch of stardust. Throughout the week, a robust live music program, including a resident vinyl DJ, jazz trios, and more, will set the tone with sophisticated, upbeat vibes, transforming from a lively restaurant to a sultry lounge throughout the evening. Join The Collab for a grand opening celebration April 4, 5 and 6, featuring live entertainment, surprise tastings, and more; reservations available on OpenTable.
