1. This was one of those games where you had to recalibrate in a hurry, Giannis Antetokounmpo being downgraded from probable to questionable to out all within the 90 minutes before the game began. Where Antetokounmpo’s downhill trucking top of mind the focus quickly shifted to Damian Lillard, not only an incredibly talented offensive player in his own right but one of the few remaining ballhandlers and playmakers remaining on Milwaukee’s roster. If Miami could contain Lillard, where was Milwaukee’s offense going to come from? Lillard had his own say in things, and then some, hitting three triples in a row in the first few minutes and scoring 17 points in the first six minutes as Milwaukee jumped out to a double-digit lead. Miami wasn’t having much trouble getting into the paint against the perimeter offerings of Milwaukee, but a handful of misses around the rim and a cold stretch from three was all it took for Milwaukee to put them in a hole. All uphill from there, Erik Spoelstra bringing out the zone – it jammed up Milwaukee even as Bobby Portis hit some jumpers against it – as the HEAT marched to the free-throw line 23 times in the first half, Miami down 65-51 at the break. It looked like Miami was in a worse place on paper than they were. The Bucks had attempted just one shot in the restricted area, having also gone 6-of-12 on midrange jumpers, and took just five free-throws. If Milwaukee, 13-of-21 for 62 percent from three, cooled at all on their jumpers then the door was going to be sitting wide open with Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro all generating consistent opportunities to get downhill. Sure, that’s a loaded “if” but one well within reasonable expectations, especially as Miami’s defense dialed in as the first half wore on. Not the best start on that front to open the third, Milwaukee hitting three more from deep to go up 22, including three more from Lillard to give him 31 points and eight threes with 8:55 left in the third. Miami upped their pressure from there, forcing the ball out of Lillard’s hands, Adebayo picking up his fourth foul a bit of a thorn in their side. Still, Miami kept running their stuff, Pelle Larsson’s movement giving the offense a little life as open looks kept coming, Butler making a living in the paint and at the line. After Duncan Robinson drained three off a Herro-Butler-Robinson three-man game that twisted up Milwaukee’s switches, the score was only 82-69 with Milwaukee’s bench starting to rotate in. One Herro three later, the lead down to 10, the run was on and the building was alive. With Miami putting two on the ball in any subsequent Lillard action, Milwaukee’s remaining players couldn’t capitalize on advantage situations as the HEAT continued their diet of good look after good look, the lead down to five through three, a 26-9 run in all as the Bucks finally cooled off. No Lillard on the court to open the fourth, Milwaukee sitting in their own zone long enough to get a few stops and push the lead back to nine. It was but a temporary respite, Miami coming right back. A nice burst from Rozier, a pair of jumpers and a finish over Brook Lopez, had it down to two. Milwaukee was hanging on for life from there on, all tied up at 96. More Rozier magic, a very poor Milwaukee turnover, up four with just over 30 seconds to play, led to Rozier for three in transition. One point game, 29 to go, one stop needed. Miami forces a shot clock violation to wipe away an AJ Green three. Then, Herro missed a good look at a three – the same spread inbound set Spoelstra ran the previous game – Taurean Prince made two free-throws and Rozier missed a deep one at the buzzer. Bucks win, 106-103, putting Miami at 1-2 in NBA Cup play, a knockout round berth still possible but a longshot. 2. You knew it was coming eventually. The run, yes, but the defense, too. Miami started the game in their base coverage, Bam Adebayo coming up to the level of the pick to deter Lillard’s quick-twitch threes while Miami switched when any other player set the screen. Lillard made quick work of those coverages in the way very few players can, hitting over the top as he either beat the switch or shot it in the switch pocket while the switch was happening. You knew Erik Spoelstra wasn’t going to let him attack base coverage all night, though. Once Lillard went on one more quick run to open the third, it was all blitzing and long, long shows – to avoid the switches Miami didn’t want – from there. The risk with that aggressive of coverage is that you leave the rest of your defense playing 3-on-4 for a few beats while that second defender, the one that went to Lillard, recovers. Milwaukee, however, without Antetokounmpo, didn’t have much in the way of quick attackers left. For every drive they scored on there were twice as many instances where Lillard would get off the ball and the offense would just stall out as the receiver failed to make the next required play, be it putting the ball on the deck, making the open look or finding the open man. Even when the ball hit the weakside they were coming up empty. It wasn’t an uncommon sight to see a Bucks player, having picked up their dribble, at 30 feet just looking for a safe pass with the shot clock dwindling. What was clever in that Spoelstra took off the blitz in the middle of the fourth, trusting Adebayo to show and recover quickly without giving Milwaukee a free advantage. Space was gone for Lillard (37 points on 17 shots), but it was AJ Green with two huge, late threes playing off of Lillard’s gravity, as he stretched out Adebayo’s shows farther and farther, which kept the night alive for Milwaukee. 3. It will be lost in the loss but Rozier almost saved this night for Miami. Butler did his thing throughout, his usual 23 points on 12 shots, but with Herro having a cool evening it was Rozier who picked up the offense late, 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting including 3-of-5 from three. None of it was particularly complicated, Rozier catching on the weakside as the HEAT continued to penetrate the paint. The finish over Lopez at the rim was a thing of beauty, but more than anything it’s good on Rozier for responding to coming off the bench after starting before his brief foot injury. He may have started the season below his offensive standards, shooting below 40 percent from the field, but anyone familiar with Rozier’s past scoring exploits was just waiting for the tide to turn. Does a 17-point night count as an explosion for an explosive offensive player? Probably not, but it’s a sign of what he can do regularly, either off the bench or as a starter. He’s too good for his time not to come.  Credit Rozier with taking the toughest defensive assignment, too, staying in front of Lillard down the stretch as he and Adebayo defended those actions. Following the opening of 2024 China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, the LVMH Group proudly announced the official launch of Métiers d'Excellence in China. This initiative underscores the Group's dedication to preserving and promoting exceptional craftsmanship and its unique art of retail.  Ten years after the creation of the Institut des Métiers d'Excellence (IME) in Paris and building on the success of its growth in France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Japan, Germany, and the USA, LVMH Métiers d'Excellence is now making its debut in China.  To mark the launch of this initiative, LVMH hosted the inaugural edition of "SHOW ME -China," welcoming more than 200 guests to the Cathay Cinema in Shanghai. The event celebrated LVMH Chinese talents awarded the rank of “virtuosos” who demonstrate exceptional skill in their crafts and pass on their know-how to new generations and featured conversations about French and Chinese savoir-faire as well as, key developments of Métiers d'Excellence in China.     On November 6th, “Show ME -China” featured some official speeches from Andrew Wu, LVMH Group President of Greater China, insisting on the importance of China for LVMH, Marc-Antoine Jamet, LVMH General Secretary, retracing the special relationship between France & China for the group; completed by Bertrand LORTHOLARY the French ambassador in China. Guests also heard testimonies from “virtuosos”, exceptional LVMH Chinese talents, about their careers within the Group, from Jean-Christophe Babin, CEO of Bvlgari sharing the apprenticeship program already established with the Maison in China and feedback from the Métiers d’Excellence Master classes which started this year to help the discover and better understand the unique craftmanship from this iconic Maisons cultures for cross-Maison young talents. New partnerships with local vocational schools were also featured. The event was punctuated by artistic performances illustrating the cultural ties between China and France, and concluded with the awarding of the 2024 virtuosos, who received a brooch designed by Louis Vuitton Artistic Director of Watches and Jewelry Francesca Amfitheatrof and crafted in Louis Vuitton’s ateliers in France.     Show ME - China was also the occasion to announce the official roadmap for Métiers d’Excellence in China with four major priorities:  Publicizing the Group's savoir-faire Professions: a comprehensive mapping of professions in China has identified over 60 Métiers d'Excellence, which include technical roles in after-sales services (such as watchmaking technicians and retouchers), craft métiers (like letter painters), and customer experience professions (retail and sales associates). In total, nearly 300 craftsmen and craftswomen, along with nearly 16 000 sales advisors, form the Métiers d'Excellence community in China. Roughly a month after the original dates of the championship, three players were crowned victorious at the inaugural Legends Championship at the Conservatory at Hammock Beach. Stan Zabytko, Jim Carley, and Brian Sachs each won their respective division with great play through two days of competition. 70-74 Division Stan Zabytko led the way after round one at even-par, with three birdies to match his three bogies. He held a one-stroke lead over Kevin Macy and Bob Casamento, the club’s Senior Men’s Champion. Four other players sat within four strokes of Zabytko’s lead heading into the final round. The 70-74 division proved to be a tight race throughout Wednesday's final round. With two holes to go, Zabytko and Bobby Lundquist were separated by one stroke. A costly bogey on 17 by Lundquist would give Zabytko the cushion he needed to finish as champion at two-over par. Lundquist would finish in solo second place, followed by two players, John Milton and Mark Weston who tied for third. 75-79 Division The 75-79 Age Division gave us our only two under-par rounds during day one of the championship. Leonard Carothers had six birdies and an eagle en route to a two-under-par round. This was good enough for a one-shot lead over Jim Carley, whose three-under par back nine propelled him into solo second after day one. Sam Robinson rounded out the top three with an even-par 72. Charles Hauser birdied five of his first 12 holes to find himself just one shot out of the lead heading into the final stretch on Wednesday. He would ultimately drop a couple of shots on his last few holes to finish in solo third place. With one hole to play, Carley led Robinson by one shot. Carley would double-bogey and Robinson would bogey to put both players at one-under par and force a playoff. On the first playoff hole, Carley got up and down for birdie to win the division. 80 & Over Division Brian Sachs finished round one with an even-par 72. This gave him a four-stroke lead over Joe Campagna, who sat in solo second place with a four-over 76. All players improved on their first-round performance on Wednesday. At the 2024 USTA Florida Annual Meeting, the organization welcomed a new Board of Director’s for 2025-2026. Chuck Gill takes over as President, with Phil Girardi, the immediate Past-President, moving into a delegate role. Let’s take a deeper dive into the 2025-2026 Board of Directors, which welcomes five ladies to the board.  Chuck Gill, President   Chuck Gil l was born in Richmond, Virginia, but moved quite often, finding himself in Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and Vermont. Chuck first got involved with tennis when he was 16, stringing rackets and helping run lessons for junior players. He has worked in tennis ever since and currently is the Director of Tennis at Wellington Tennis Center. He got involved as a volunteer by joining different boards and national committees. He joined the USTA Florida Board as a Director at Large because he loves the people on the board and being a part of helping to grow tennis.   Chuck will step into the role of President. He is a past president of USPTA Florida, USPTA and will continue to serve as Chair of USTA Florida’s Tennis Management Advisory Team. In his free time, Chuck loves to golf and read books. Chuck has been serving on the Board of Directors for more than 5 years! Marcelo Gouts, President-Elect   Marcelo has been volunteering with USTA Florida for 30 years and has had many roles within the tennis community. He has been managing public tennis parks in Orange County and currently is the Director of Tennis at Lake Cane. He will serve as a President-Elect in 2025-2026 and has previously served as a Director, Treasurer, and Secretary on the USTA Florida Section Board of Directors.  He likes to serve on the board because he can share his 30 years of experience in the industry with other members and staff who love to promote and support the game of tennis.  In 2024, he won the Merit Award for his dedication to tennis and growing the game across all levels.  Marcelo was instrumental in the organization’s Hispanic Outreach Initiative (Tenis Para Todos) and is a vocal advocate for growing tennis in public parks. In his free time, Marcelo loves to travel around the world.  Phil Girardi, Delegate   Phil has been involved with tennis for the greater portion of his life and has been volunteering with USTA Florida for over 20 years. He served as President on the board during the 2023-2024 USTA Florida Board of Directors President, replacing Dana Andrews. He likes to serve on the board because it’s a fantastic visionary group for tennis and he feels everyone should play tennis and get the benefit from the sport.   He will serve as the section Delegate this term. He also is the Director of Tennis at Treasure Bay and head coach for St. Petersburg College. He is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and has a passion for Junior Team Tennis and collegiate programs and play.  Jane Wahl, Secretary   Jane Wahl joins the board for the first time. She is a native of Jacksonville, who learned to play tennis after college. She didn’t really consider herself a tennis player until someone invited her to join a team in 2005, and she has been enjoying the sport ever since.  Jane earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Florida. She worked with State Farm Insurance Companies for 37 years, in a variety of roles. She earned her CPCU designation during that time and was President and Chair of the CPCU Society Leadership Council, an international insurance organization. In addition to other Insurance and Quality designations, she is an ASQ Six Sigma Black Belt.  A member of the first USTA Florida Leadership Academy, Jane has volunteered as part of the USTA Florida Leagues Committee for four years. She appreciates the sportsmanship element of tennis as much as the game itself. She is a volunteer instructor with a Lifelong Learning group, and an avid Gator fan.  Lezita Davis, Treasurer   Lezita Davis is also joining the board for her first time and will serve as Treasurer. She was also born in Jacksonville and has been an avid tennis player and fan for most of her adult life. As a director of operations and process management, Lezita has delivered meaningful results throughout her career. She received her Bachelor of Science and master’s in business administration from Jacksonville University.    Lezita’s passion for community collaboration aligns with her love for tennis. She has served on various boards and local committees including past Board Chair for the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation; past flight coordinator for the Jacksonville Working Women Tennis League Board and an Adult League tennis captain for multiple teams. As a new USTA Board member, Lezita is looking forward to making a positive impact on growing the game of tennis. In her free time, she enjoys playing league tennis, spending time with her family, and traveling the world.    Trishna Patel, Director at Large   Trishna Patel joins the USTA Florida Board of Directors as a Director at Large. She is an USPTA Certified Tennis Professional, USTA Net Generation verified coach, and a Certified Cardio Tennis™ instructor. Utilizing over 30 years of personal experience and knowledge of the game, she shares her love of tennis by inspiring and coaching young athletes.  Trishna’s tennis journey began with a wooden racquet on the community courts in Mumbai, India where she discovered her love for the game almost instantaneously. Trishna’s tennis game grew to match her desire to play competitive tennis around the world. Coach Trishna trained at IMG Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida throughout high school, where she traveled to compete in tournaments earning national and international rankings. With the commitment and support of family and friends, Trishna was able to travel for national and international tournaments earning rankings in both circuits.  Coach Trishna is a former NCAA Division I singles and doubles player for Brown University and led her team to the IVY Championship, a title that was only previously won once in the school’s history. In 2022 she was inducted into Brown Athletic Hall of Fame and holds the record for most singles and doubles wins in a single season.    In 2023 she was awarded USPTA Florida Region 4 Pro of the Year. Since 2022, Trishna has been the head Boys & Girls tennis coach for Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach where she runs a no-cut high school program with the help of parent volunteers. In 2024, the City of Ormond Beach awarded Trishna the bid to manage and operate its 8-clay court Here, Trishna along with her talented staff, serve the local and tourist communities by offering programs for all ages in an engaging and fun environment.  Meika Ashby, Director at Large   Joining as a Director at Large is Meika Ashby , a seasoned tennis professional with over 8 years of experience as an RSPA (formerly USPTA) professional. She played Division 1 college tennis at Western Michigan University, where she honed her competitive skills and developed a deeper love and connection for the sport. Currently, Meika serves as the Assistant Director of Racquet Sports at The Oaks at Boca Raton, overseeing the tennis and pickleball programs. In this role, she focuses on growing participation, enhancing player development, and creating vibrant, engaging experiences for the community’s racquet sports enthusiasts.   In addition to her professional achievements, Meika has a long history of volunteering and serving in key leadership roles within the tennis community. She has actively contributed to USTA Florida as a member of the Awards Committee, recognizing excellence and achievement in tennis across the state. While in college, Meika served as a USTA Umpire, gaining unique insights into the rules and officiating side of the game. Her leadership extends to her work with RSPA Florida, where she has served on the nominating committee and chaired the committee, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of the organization.   Meika’s dedication to tennis goes beyond just her professional duties. She is passionate about giving back to tennis and ensuring its growth for future generations. Whether through her volunteer efforts or her work at The Oaks, she continuously strives to inspire others and create opportunities for players of all levels to enjoy the game. She is a global marketing professional that has worked for iconic brands like Wilson Sporting Goods, Red Bull, Citi, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the NBA New Orleans Pelicans.   She has won an Emmy Award, two Comms Art awards, and has raised over half a million dollars for local charitable organizations in Brevard County. Tracy also has a deep background in tennis.  As a former WTA Tour player, Tracy is passionate about giving back to the sport that provided her with the opportunities of a lifetime.  Adam Ross, Director at Large   Finally, staying on the USTA Florida Board of Directors is Adam Ross . Originally from Nyack, New York, Adam grew up over in Long Island, where he first started to enjoy tennis at the age of 13. He loved to spend time with his family and even made some trips to the U.S. Open. He graduated from the University of Miami School of Law with a Juris Doctor and was also admitted to the Florida Bar.   Adam, who first joined the Board as a Director at Large in 2019 and served as Secretary in 2021-2022 and Treasurer in the 2023-2024 term, will continue helping the game of tennis grow in his role a Director. Currently, he is an attorney based in Parkland, an avid tennis fan and player, and has served for a number of years on various section committees. He likes to serve on the board because he loves collaborating with USTA Florida members to ensure that tennis is promoted to all throughout the state.   In his free time, Adam loves to play tennis, read about tennis history, and watch tennis, whether in person or on TV. He also has a tennis memorabilia collection and is the Vice-President of The Tennis Collectors of America. They love to study and preserve tennis history. Miami Living unveils an over-the-top Roman bathhouse-style spa inside Florida's first standalone Four Seasons-branded residence. Spanning 10,000 square feet, the spa will offer your typical condo amenities like a fitness center and massage room, but also an array of impressive features rarely, if ever, seen in residential buildings — an ice fountain, cold plunge, hydromassage pool, horizontal shower, leg shower meant to improve circulation, and a full sauna circuit inspired by ancient Roman bath chambers, with each room varying in increasing heat and decreasing humidity.
