  • The Dos and Don’ts of Flashing Light Intersection Behaviors

If you approach an intersection where you have a flashing light facing you, you’ll probably remember what you learned in driver’s education classes. A flashing red means one thing, while a flashing yellow means something else. You’ll need to act in the correct way to keep you and your passengers safe, as well as any other drivers, pedestrians, or cyclists around you. If you get in an accident at an intersection because you or someone else acted incorrectly while approaching a flashing light, you must follow protocol after that. Typically,  you should file an accident report within 10 days if injuries occurred . If possible, you can also tell the police what happened at the scene. It is worth talking about what you should do when you’re facing a flashing light at an intersection. Let’s discuss some of the most prominent dos and don’ts right now. Do Approach a Flashing Yellow Light with Caution First, you should understand what a flashing yellow light at an intersection means. If you took driver’s ed, then presumably, they covered this. However, maybe you won’t necessarily remember what you’re supposed to do when you’re in that situation while on the road. When you approach a flashing yellow light, that means you have the right of way . As a driver, you don’t have to come to a stop when you’re facing one.  You may have the right of way, but you’re still supposed to approach the intersection cautiously. You can go, but keep your eyes open to make sure nobody around you goes out of turn.  Do Stop Fully at a Flashing Red Light If you approach a flashing red light in your car when coming to an intersection, that means you have to stop. You can regard a flashing red light more like a stop sign than a light that’s solid red.  The flashing red light means you have to stop fully. In other words, you don’t want to do the rolling stop that many drivers do when they approach a stop sign.  By stopping fully, you’re completely assessing the intersection and the drivers around you. When you make that full stop, you’re following traffic laws, but you’re also making sure  there’s nobody on foot trying to cross in front of you  or anything similar that demands your attention.   Do Look to Either Side of the Intersection as You Approach You will also want to look to either side of the intersection when you approach a flashing traffic light. That mostly applies if you’re coming up on a flashing red, but you should also do it when approaching a flashing yellow. If you have a flashing red, you need so stop fully, and as you do, you should look at the vehicles to either side, if you see any. You can look at a flashing red light like stop signs on each corner of a four-way intersection. Having one means that you need to stop and let anyone who arrived before you go first.  Luckily, you will almost never have a situation where you have four flashing red lights, one facing in each of the four directions. That’s because, if you have two flashing reds facing each other, you will almost always have two flashing yellows to the left and right. Any two vehicles approaching the flashing yellow lights can go without stopping when they approach. They should do so with caution, but they need not come to a stop.  The two vehicles and drivers that have the flashing reds must stop, and that is when you need to look to either side as a driver. When you do, you are making sure that you have nothing and no one coming that might impede you when you press down on the gas and enter the intersection.  Don’t Go Through a Flashing Yellow Light Heedlessly You should also never go through a flashing yellow light heedlessly. Yes, you should have the right of way when you approach an intersection and see a flashing yellow light facing you. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean you should go straight through the intersection without at least slowing down. Slowing down when you approach an intersection with a flashing yellow light facing you means you’re exercising the proper amount of caution. This might save you from getting in an accident if you have someone on either side of you who decided to go when it wasn’t their turn. That can happen more than you might think. Some drivers don’t realize if they have flashing red that it means that they need to stop. If you have a driver on your left or right who drives straight through a flashing red without stopping, then slowing down and proceeding cautiously  when you’re coming up on an intersection with a flashing yellow light facing you might save your life. Don’t Go Out of Turn   You need to do one additional thing when you’re approaching an intersection and you have a flashing light facing you. Try not to go out of turn. Remember that the flashing yellow means that you have the right of way, so you can go before any driver who has the flashing red. If you have a flashing red, realize that the law states that you must come to a complete stop before driving forward into the intersection. By not going out of turn, you make a car crash much less likely . That applies whether you have either a yellow or red flashing light facing you. Flashing lights usually turn on late at night, so when you approach an intersection with them, that probably means you won’t have much other traffic around. That makes accidents less likely. If you see a red or yellow flashing light during the daylight hours, though, that often means you have an unusual traffic situation happening. In such instances, you will want to approach the intersection cautiously, regardless of whether you’re got a flashing red or yellow. By ML staff. Image courtesy of Pexels.

Hosted by NBC6 weekday morning news anchor Constance Jones, the evening brought together more than 200 guests, including Congresswoman Frederica Wilson, who surprised both honorees with Congressional Records. The event also welcomed artists, community leaders, philanthropists, and art professionals, as well as a special performance by the legendary Dionne Warwick. The festivities exceeded fundraising goals to support MOCA’s mission. A Night in Paradise celebrated three decades of MOCA’s dedication to contemporary art and its historical influences through exhibitions, educational programs, and collections. As the only major cultural institution between Miami’s Design District and Fort Lauderdale, MOCA has garnered international acclaim while remaining deeply connected to the local community since 1996. Lehman, Jr., a prominent businessman, philanthropist, and art collector, has played an integral role in shaping MOCA’s legacy. As Chair Emeritus of the Board, he has helped expand the museum’s board, present internationally recognized exhibitions, and secure significant funding, including a $3 million HUD grant to enhance MOCA’s facilities. His family’s deep-rooted contributions to MOCA’s history include his father, Congressman Lehman, securing the original $2.5 million HUD grant that built MOCA, and his mother, Joan, donating artworks and lending her name to the museum building. MOCA also honored Didier William, a North Miami-raised artist whose first major museum show, Nou Kite Tout Sa Dèyè , was hosted by MOCA in 2022. The exhibition included a community initiative where William created a limited-edition print for 200 local families and organizations. William, who was born in Haiti, holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from Yale University. His work has been exhibited at major institutions including the Bronx Museum of Art, The Carnegie Museum, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and he is represented by James Fuentes Gallery in New York, Altman Siegel Gallery in San Francisco, and Galerie Peter Kilchmann in Zurich.  On February 27, MOCA celebrated its 30th anniversary with an inaugural gala, which honored MOCA Chair Emeritus Bill Lehman and artist Didier William. • The Narrative Designer Khalid Shafar

Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils its latest collaboration under the Made of Makers programme – an exclusive art installation, curated by Emirati designer Khalid Shafar. Through this collaboration, Khalid Shafar has interpreted the Maison’s celestial movements through Ramadan’s lunar cycle. A NEW ARTISTIC COLLABORATION UNDER JAEGER-LECOULTRE'S MADE OF MAKERS PROGRAMME TO CELEBRATE THE PASSAGE OF TIME Key Facts: Pushing the boundaries of contemporary design: blending traditional Emirati craftsmanship with modern aesthetics An exclusive art installation: embracing the rhythm of the lunar cycle during the month of Ramadan Celebrating the passage of time through celestial movements: using celestial inspiration, subtle design and dual perspective Conceptualisation of La Grande Maison’s expertise : a profound fascination with the lunar cycle and the mastery of the guilloché decorative technique by the atelier des Métiers Rares™ PUSHING FURTHER THE BOUNDARIES OF CLASSICAL ARTS The Made of Makers programme draws a parallel between the worlds of horology and art, fostering collaborations with artists, designers, and craftsmen from disciplines outside watchmaking, who share the Maison’s values of creativity, expertise, and precision. The programme challenges the perception of classical arts as static or bound to the past, instead emphasising their continuous reinvention and honouring them as a leading source of creativity today. Just as today’s classics were once seen as radical at their inception, the Made of Makers programme explores how traditional forms and techniques can be  reinvented through new materials and media, offering a fresh perspective on the dialogue between past and present. Like the watchmakers of La Grande Maison, these artists respect tradition as a foundation for creativity, while pushing boundaries and exploring new horizons, highlighting how both watchmaking and classical arts express human creativity, reflect the culture of an era and trigger emotions. To date, the Made of Makers community has embraced the worlds of contemporary visual art, gastronomy, music and perfumery – with artists including Zimoun (Switzerland), Michael Murphy (USA), Guillaume Marmin (France), lettering artist Alex Trochut (Spain/USA), pastry chef Nina Métayer (France), mixologist Matthias Giroud (France), digital media artist Yiyun Kang (Korea), musician TØKIO M¥ERS (UK), multi-media artist Brendi Wedinger (USA), Chef Himanshu Saini (India), street light-painter Roy Wang (China) and perfumer Nicolas Bonneville (France). This new collaboration with designer Khalid Shafar (UAE), adds a new dimension to the Made of Makers portfolio – celebrating Middle Eastern artistry through a dialogue between contemporary design and celestial timekeeping. THE NARRATIVE DESIGNER Known for his fusion of Emirati cultural heritage and contemporary design elements, Khalid Safar’s creations transcend mere aesthetics, embodying a profound connection between form and function. Born in the United Arab Emirates, Khalid Shafar is a pioneering Emirati artist and designer known for his unique approach to furniture and object design. While he initially pursued a career in business, spending nearly seven years in marketing and communications, his passion for design eventually led him to change direction. In 2005, he fully embraced this calling, undertaking formal studies in Fine Arts with a specialisation in Interior Design. His growing interest in furniture and object design then took him to Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in London and the Centre for Fine Woodworking in New Zealand, where he refined his craft, helped shape contemporary design in the UAE and gained international recognition for his work. In 2011, Khalid Shafar established his own design studio in Dubai, followed by a dedicated showcase space in 2012. His work is characterised by a seamless fusion of cultural heritage and contemporary aesthetics. He places strong emphasis on storytelling through design, believing that every object carries a narrative that resonates with its audience. His creations often feature clean lines, rich textures, and fine materials, combining an avant-garde-inspired aesthetic with a modern sensibility. With a commitment to honouring and evolving Emirati design, Khalid Shafar continues to push the boundaries of creativity, bringing a fresh perspective to the global design industry. His work not only preserves tradition but also refines it by setting a new benchmark for contemporary craftsmanship, ensuring that Emirati design is recognised on the international stage. CELEBRATING THE PASSAGE OF TIME THROUGH CELESTIAL MOVEMENTS Inspired by the sacred rhythms of Ramadan, this unique collaboration blends celestial observations with fine craftsmanship, reflecting the deep connection between watchmaking and the passage of time. During the month of Ramadan, tracking the precise moments of sunrise and sunset is essential, as they dictate the daily rhythm of fasting and prayer. This reverence for time aligns seamlessly with Jaeger-LeCoultre’s rich watchmaking heritage, where the measurement of time has always been intrinsically linked to the movements of celestial bodies. Since the Maison’s founding in 1833, the moon, the sun, and the stars have inspired its watchmakers, reflecting the fundamental role of astronomical cycles in the evolution of horology. This celestial inspiration is beautifully expressed in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s timepieces, particularly in the poetic moon-phase complications found in the Rendez-Vous and Duometre collections. The Rendez-Vous Moon, with its delicate depiction of the lunar cycle, captures the ever-changing beauty of the night sky, and the Duometre Quantieme Lunaire showcases the precision of astronomical timekeeping. Through these creations, the Maison pays tribute to the enduring influence of the cosmos on the art of watchmaking. ‘ Crescent To Crescent ’ is an evocative art installation, spanning six metres in width and three metres in height, embodying the passage of time through the evolution of the moon. Featuring 29 intricately designed moons representing each day of the lunar cycle, the installation highlights the passage of time throughout the month. Subtle design details honour the Maison’s craftsmanship, expressed through delicate engravings that mirror the guilloché decorative technique mastered in the Manufacture’s Métiers RaresTM atelier. The installation offers two unique viewing experiences – one side showcases a stunning colour gradient, reflecting the moon’s daily evolution across the month of Ramadan, while the other immerses viewers in a dynamic play of light, illuminating each moon as they move through the space. This dual perspective invites viewers to engage with time in an immersive way. “The moon. This celestial body is a powerful force, influencing tides, guiding natural cycles and inclining countless aspects of life on earth. For centuries, the sight of the new crescent moon has heralded the beginning of Ramadan,” says Khalid Shafar. “When Jaeger-LeCoultre invited me to create an art installation in honour of this sacred time, I sought to capture the profound rhythm of time itself, drawing inspiration from the lunar cycle. I immersed myself in La Grande Maison’s enduring fascination with celestial phenomena – a passion nurtured by the enchanting night sky of La Vallée de Joux and brought to life in watchmaking masterpieces.” “This installation, Crescent to Crescent, is a tribute to the sacred rhythms of Ramadan, where time becomes a contemplative practice. As we track each hour, we learn to appreciate the cadence of time, encouraging reflection and mindfulness,” Khalid Shafar explains. By merging artistic vision with horological mastery, this collaboration between Khalid Shafar and Jaeger-LeCoultre underscores the profound relationship between time, tradition, and transformation. The exclusive installation will be unveiled on February 28 at the Dubai Mall Grand Atrium, where it will remain throughout the month of Ramadan, before travelling to select locations across the city engaging the art, design, and creative communities. “We are delighted to collaborate with Emirati Designer Khalid Shafar,” says Jérôme Lambert, Chief Executive Officer of Jaeger-LeCoultre. “At La Grande Maison , we celebrate the artistry of time – not only through our timepieces but also through collaborations that explore time’s deeper significance. Khalid Shafar’s ‘Crescent to Crescent’ installation beautifully embodies this philosophy, drawing on the celestial rhythms that have inspired watchmaking for centuries. His ability to translate the passage of time into a powerful visual and emotional experience makes him a natural partner for our Made of Makers programme. With this collaboration, we are honoured to welcome an Emirati artist into our creative universe, further strengthening our dialogue between craftsmanship, design, and cultural heritage.” ML Staff. • Luxury Car Accidents: What High-Net-Worth Drivers Need to Know About Legal Liability in Kentucky

For high-net-worth individuals in Kentucky who drive luxury vehicles, the aftermath of an accident can pose significant legal challenges. Understanding the nuances of legal liability is essential to protect your investment and ensure fair compensation. Luxury cars often involve higher stakes in terms of repair costs, diminished value, and insurance implications. In Kentucky, liability laws and insurance policies play a critical role in determining the outcome of car accident claims. Drivers of high-value cars should be aware that legal representation can be crucial in these situations. Legal professionals, like those from firms with knowledge of the local area, can assist in ensuring you receive the compensation you deserve. Learn how to protect your assets after an accident  to minimize financial risks and legal complications. Additionally, those involved in luxury car accidents should consider aspects like reduced car value, which is a common factor in these incidents. Evaluating the potential impact on your vehicle’s worth requires a thorough understanding of both insurance policies and the legal framework surrounding accidents. By engaging with legal professionals, drivers can better address these issues and secure favorable outcomes. Understanding Car Insurance in the Context of Luxury Cars When it comes to protecting luxury vehicles, car insurance plays a crucial role. Examining specific coverage types, liability limits, and service quality is vital for high-net-worth individuals. Ensuring the protection of their valuable assets requires informed decisions. The Importance of Adequate Liability Coverage Luxury vehicles often necessitate higher liability coverage due to their value. Owners typically possess substantial assets, making them potential targets in legal disputes. It's advised to consider liability insurance  with limits such as 250/500/250, which means $250,000 per person in bodily injury, $500,000 per accident, and $250,000 in property damage. These figures help cover potential legal costs and damages that may arise from accidents. Limiting exposure to financial risks requires considering additional coverage options, like an umbrella policy , which extends protection beyond the standard limits. This is especially significant in states with minimum required coverage that won't suffice for luxury car owners. Decoding Policy Types for High-Value Vehicles Auto insurance for luxury cars involves several types of coverage beyond standard offerings. Besides collision and comprehensive  coverage, policies should include uninsured  and underinsured motorist coverage  to protect against drivers with insufficient insurance. Personal injury protection  could also be valuable, covering medical expenses regardless of fault. These policy types reflect the unique risks associated with luxury vehicles. The specialized parts and performance capabilities require specific coverage to address repairs or replacement costs. This ensures peace of mind for owners by safeguarding their investment and covering odd situations that happen on the road. Luxury Car Insurance Companies and Customer Service Securing adequate protection and satisfactory service from car insurance companies is essential. Comparing these options involves assessing customer service ratings and claims processing efficiency. Look for insurers that prioritize seamless communication and swift claim resolution. High-net-worth clients often value personalized service and proficiency in handling complicated claims related to luxury cars. Engaging with providers that offer skilled advice and tailored solutions can greatly enhance the insurance experience for those with luxury cars. Financial Implications and Protecting Your Wealth in Accidents Luxury automobiles, while offering prestige and performance, also introduce unique financial considerations in the event of an accident. It's crucial for high-net-worth individuals to evaluate liability limits, select appropriate deductibles, and explore legal protections available in Kentucky. Setting the Right Liability Limits and Deductibles Liability insurance is critical in shielding personal wealth from potential claims after a mishap. Determining the appropriate liability limits ensures sufficient coverage is available, safeguarding assets against substantial financial loss. High-net-worth drivers need to assess their financial security and consider setting higher liability limits than standard policies might offer. Deductibles  play a pivotal role in determining premium amounts. While higher deductibles can lower premiums, they may also amplify financial strain in an accident. Selecting the right balance between premiums and deductibles is essential. Drivers should examine options like accident forgiveness and specialized coverage designed for luxury vehicles, as these can offer additional peace of mind. Special Considerations for High-Net-Worth Drivers High-net-worth individuals often possess substantial assets that require protection beyond standard auto insurance policies. Specialized coverage such as high net-worth car insurance compensates for potential gaps in conventional coverage. These policies frequently include options like new car replacement and gap insurance, which can offset depreciation and provide additional financial stability. Agreed-upon value policies establish a fixed value for a luxury vehicle, ensuring adequate compensation if it is totaled. Drivers should consider this option to prevent discrepancies in payouts. Additionally, having good credit, extensive driving experience, and maintaining a clean driving record can positively influence insurance rates and lead to significant premium reductions over time. Strategies for Minimizing Legal Liability in Kentucky Kentucky's state laws and no-fault insurance requirements necessitate careful examination to minimize legal liability. Utilizing non-owner car insurance can be beneficial when driving a borrowed vehicle, reducing potential at-fault risks. Comparing car insurance quotes and evaluating rates from multiple providers enables informed decision-making tailored to individual needs. Drivers must stay informed about insurance deductible choices and their potential impact on financial outcomes. Legal strategies such as creating trusts or pursuing asset protection measures can offer additional layers of security against claims. It’s imperative to periodically review and update insurance policies to align with evolving circumstances and ensure comprehensive coverage. By ML Staff

Curated by the world's top perfumers, using the highest quality natural and sustainable ingredients found in the finest luxury brands, the passionate team at Olfactory NYC eliminates the guesswork behind choosing a “signature scent” by allowing customers to create their own personalized fragrance. Based on one’s preferences, the ‘scentologists’ will then guide one through the process of layering a variety of different fragrance accords to each core scent until one discovers their perfect blend. The custom scent is then freshly bottled, and clients can choose the fragrance's bottle color and hand-stamped label name. In addition to core and custom fragrance, Olfactory NYC offers travel sprays, body wash, body lotion, rinse-free hand wash, and soy-blend candles in many of the same scents as the core fragrances.Olfactory NYC also offers the option to create custom scents at home. The three-step process is designed to mimic the in-store experience, and includes an “Explorer Box” shipment, which includes the 9 core scents, followed by a “Tinkerer Box” with the accords to add to the core scents, and finally after creating the custom scent, a Full Size Custom Fragrance is delivered. Additionally, Olfactory NYC offers traditional Gift Cards and Gift Bottles, which recipients may redeem in-store by creating their personalized fragrance, complete with a custom hand-stamped label. "At Olfactory NYC, we focus on fragrance. Using only the highest quality ingredients, sourced and created by some of the world’s top perfumers, we bottle and blend our scents fresh at our scent studios.
