- Pridelines Recommended to Receive $2.4 Million 2-Year Funding for LGBTQIA+ Youth Housing Initiative
Pridelines is thrilled to announce that The Executive Committee of The Homeless Trust approved $2.4 million in funding to create the first-ever LGBTQIA+ youth housing in Miami-Dade. This recommendation comes from Miami Homes For All, Youth Dementration Housing Project and The Homeless Trust, following a comprehensive review process led by a committee appointed by Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. Out of 11 proposals submitted, six projects were selected for funding, with Pridelines being one of them. Recently, the Executive Committee of The Homeless Trust cast their final vote on this recommendation. This funding will significantly bolster our efforts to provide a safe, supportive, and stable living environment for LGBTQIA+ youth facing housing insecurity in Miami. The $2.4 million recommendation is part of a larger grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), aimed at addressing housing needs and homelessness. With this HUD grant, Pridelines plans to develop comprehensive housing solutions that include not only safe living spaces but also essential support services. These services will encompass mental health counseling, educational resources, and job training programs, ensuring that LGBTQIA+ youth have the tools they need to build a brighter future. Pridelines has been on the frontlines of local homelessness support for well over four decades. Founded in 1982, Pridelines and its youth leaders provided informal shelter and housing support to Miami's LGBTQIA+ community, especially young people cast aside by their disapproving families because of their queer identity, expression, and orientation. They were often forcibly removed from their homes due to anti-LGBT local ordinances allowing property owners to evict queer people from their residences in Miami-Dade County. Over the past 14 years, Pridelines has assisted thousands of individuals at risk and in need through the agency's Project SAFE program – Safe Accommodations For Everyone. Since 2010, Pridelines Project SAFE has operated comprehensive drop-in and wrap-around service and resource centers at all agency locations, providing immediate and emergency support to LGBTQIA+ youth and community members navigating housing insecurity or experiencing homelessness. Pridelines has accrued remarkable experience, strengthening our institutional knowledge, skill, and expertise in delivering robust homelessness support and culturally and linguistically competent care. Project SAFE's suite of programming includes holistic mind, body, and spirit evidence-based approaches, individualized case management, systems navigation, comprehensive HIV/STI screening, counseling, treatment and care, mental health counseling and therapy, personal and professional development, and creating safe, inclusive and affirming spaces for Miami and South Florida's LGBTQIA+ youth and community. This historical precedent and reputation for excellence in competent, high-quality service delivery, coupled with Project SAFE's innovative programming, made our proposal particularly appealing to MHFA, MDCHT, and the YHDP Committee. Pridelines is known for our hyper-localized public health interventions, leveraging strong community bonds built through decades of relationship cultivation with community members, stakeholders, influencers, activists, and advocates. We prioritize active listening, transparency, accountability, and trust. Alongside our informed, activated, and passionate local community, Pridelines has aided those who are under-resourced, in need, at risk, and living life at the margins — from efforts focused on ending Miami's longstanding HIV/AIDS epidemic to developing holistic and sustainable solutions to youth housing insecurity and homelessness. HUD and MDCHT's YHDP Initiative and grant will support the establishment of Pridelines' Project SAFE House at Rainbow Road – Miami's first and only LGBTQIA+ specific Transitional and Permanent Rapid Rehousing program and facility for queer youth navigating housing insecurity or experiencing homelessness. Set to open in the Fall of this year, the Rainbow Road facility will house up to 26 young people and provide holistic supportive programs, services, and resources, such as personalized and comprehensive case management, public social welfare system navigation, mental health counseling and therapy, clinical services, personal and professional development, and a suite of special, large group activities and events. These are designed to uplift and cultivate community, reinforce peer support, and strengthen the next generation of LGBTQIA+ local change agents and community development activists and advocates. Significant efforts are currently underway to secure a newly-renovated, 22-unit building in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood. The Program's name – Pridelines' Project SAFE House at Rainbow Road – is inspired by the final level before victory in the popular racing video game, Nintendo's Super Mario Kart, called Rainbow Road. Rainbow Road features a rainbow-colored racing course suspended in space and is one of the most iconic visuals in video gaming history. For years, Super Mario Kart's Rainbow Road has been a favorite of Pridelines' Project SAFE youth seeking escape and reprieve from trauma and challenges. By ML Staff. Image Courtesy of Pridelines

- Kené Kaya’s Amazonía Collection: A Celebration of Peruvian Indigenous Art
In the bustling world of fashion, where trends often overshadow tradition, Kené Kaya emerges as a beacon of cultural reverence and artistic innovation. Founded by Peruvian designer Alessandra Durand, Kené Kaya is not just a fashion brand; it is a spirited homage to the rich heritage of Peru’s indigenous communities, particularly those of the Shipibo-Conibo of the Peruvian Amazon, with her latest collection, Amazonía. Amazonia collection debut at Miami Swim Week. Photographer Thomas Concordia (Getty Images) The name "Kené Kaya" itself encapsulates the essence of the brand – "the spirit of design" in the native language of Shipibo-Conibo. For Alessandra, a Miami-based designer with a background in international development, Kené Kaya represents a heartfelt journey to empower and showcase the incredible talent she witnessed in the streets of Lima during her trips back home. Inspired by the vibrant textiles and artwork of Peru's indigenous artisans, Alessandra set out to bridge the gap between their local craftsmanship and global fashion markets. Designer Alessandra Durand at artist Olinda Silvano’s studio, painted above The journey of Kené Kaya took a significant step forward with its inaugural swim and resort wear collection unveiled in May at Miami Swim Week. Titled "Amazonía," the SS25 collection captivated audiences with a vibrant tribute to the colors, wildlife, and indigenous artisans of the Peruvian Amazon. The runway became a canvas where traditional craftsmanship met contemporary fashion, showcasing swimsuits and resort wear adorned with colorful geometric patterns and vibrant hues. Photographer Thomas Concordia (Getty Images) "I am always trying to experiment with different mediums that integrate indigenous artwork," explains Alessandra, who presented swimwear for the first time at Miami Swim Week. The Amazonía collection offered an elegant and cohesive array of swimwear made of colorful prints of geometric tribal patterns, a common feature of Shipibo-Conibo art, alongside one-of-a-kind embroidered and hand-painted cover-ups handmade by globally renowned Peruvian artists Olinda and Sadith Silvano. Photographer Thomas Concordia (Getty Images) A unique aspect of "Amazonía" is that all embroidered and hand-painted pieces are not mass-produced; only one of each exists in the world, each handmade by Peruvian artisans. For those who desire custom orders, Kené Kaya offers bespoke pieces through their website, ensuring that each garment remains exclusive and personally significant. This personalized approach ensures that every piece carries a story, a touch of individuality that mass production can never replicate. By embracing slow fashion and sustainable practices, Kené Kaya's "Amazonía" collection makes a bold statement against the backdrop of fast fashion, advocating for ethical and culturally significant fashion choices. Model Nicole Frost. Photographer Joel Amory Durand's innovative approach to integrating traditional art into contemporary fashion not only preserves but also promotes Peruvian culture on a global stage. - Innovative Payment Solutions: How Online Casinos are Simplifying Transactions
It’s possible to argue that the online casino industry is one of the toughest in the world. There are several different operators with hundreds of sites all looking to capture as much of the market as possible. They will each offer the same type of games and variety, which can make it slightly more difficult for them to stand out from one another. The same can often be said about the bonuses and promotions that they may offer to try and entice players to join them and then remain. Therefore, finding a competitive advantage has often been somewhat a bit of a challenge in terms of the product that they have to offer. One way in which they have been able to try and be better than others, though, is in regard to the payment solutions that are being offered. How do innovative payment solutions create an advantage for online casinos? In today’s world , many of us don’t have time or patience for activities or tasks that are too difficult to complete, understand, or don’t happen the way that we expect them to go within a very minute period of time. This includes when making payments. When we make a payment, we expect to be able to make payments swiftly and without too much trouble. This is something that the online casino industry requires, as players will often want to add funds to their account and be credited instantly because they want to play there and then. If they have to wait, the opportunity or desire to play may be lost, and as a result, the casino may not be visited again for a period of time. Technology has clearly helped in this regard, as it has made all types of transactions as simple as possible. Players are now able to select their preferred option, fill out a couple of details related to the method being used, and press a button that will confirm the transaction. Once they do this, they will be instantly credited if making a deposit or start the process of a withdrawal if they have funds in their account. What are the most innovative payment solutions available? Unibet is a perfect example of a casino that fully understands the importance of various payment methods and regularly offers them to players. Unibet's Casino in Canada offers many ways for a player to transact, and all the methods are safe since they use modern technology. You can make payments with Interac, Mastercard, Visa (and its various options), Maestro, Paysafecard, Earthport, and PayPal, and add funds to your account using a good old-fashioned bank transfer. Each of these methods is trusted among Canadians because they are reputable options. Each of the transactions made is protected with SSL encryption technology from the casino’s site, meaning your data is secure and will be protected. Could payment solutions become more innovative in the future? Online casinos are among the key adopters of new technologies when it comes to making player and user experiences even better. They will often look at implementing new technologies to increase entertainment when it comes to the games that are played, while also improving player safety across their site. This is something that we should come to expect to happen when new technologies relating to payment solutions become available. For instance, we could see newer methods being accepted if they are proven to be safe, or we could see new ways in which players can protect their details and have full confidence that they won’t be compromised. Biometrics could be something that more and more online casinos look at, as this will allow individuals to use facial or fingerprint recognition to ensure maximum protection when depositing or withdrawing funds. Payment solution providers may also find new ways in which the online casino sector can benefit and make the process even quicker for players. They could find ways in which transaction speeds are quickened, especially when it comes to processing withdrawals, while they may find new innovative ways to ensure the process is smoother than what it already is. Technology will always play its role in making sure transactions are effortless and as simple as possible, and this is something we expect to continue to see evolve in the years to come, especially as there are greater cyber threats being experienced in today’s world.
