  • A Family Triumph: Jake and Justin Klentner Celebrate Second Silver Cup Victory

Jake Klentner* is no stranger to the pressure of high-stakes polo, particularly on the familiar grounds of the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club in Carpinteria, California. As a member of Klentner Ranch, Jake, alongside his father Justin, Jesse Bray* and Ignacio “Nachi” Viana, have etched their names into the history, earning the Whittier Trust Silver Cup. Klentner Ranch’s second title (2021) came after a tightly contested match against 90210 (Sarah Siegel-Magness, Geronimo Obregon*, Gonzalo Ferrari, Roberto Zedda Jr.) showcasing the team's skill, resilience and tactical prowess. “This win holds a special place, particularly because it was achieved alongside my father and long-time teammates.”  Jake Klentner embraces his father Justin after earning their second Silver Cup title at Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club in Carpinteria, California. ©David Lominska The finale was a roller coaster, with both teams trading the lead multiple times. Jake's role in the team, particularly his battle against Obregon, was crucial in keeping the momentum in Klentner Ranch's favor. This win, Jake notes, holds a special place, particularly because it was achieved alongside his father and long-time teammates, making it a family affair in the truest sense. 2024 Whittier Trust Silver Cup Champions: Klentner Ranch - Jake Klentner, Ignacio "Nachi" Viana, Jesse Bray, Justin Klentner. ©David Lominska Congratulations on claiming the Whittier Trust Silver Cup! Can you walk us through the intense final match against 90210? “Winning the Silver Cup again was amazing. It was a very intense game against 90210. My job was to go and pull the team forward, so I was battling against Geronimo. He is an incredible player. My job was to keep up with, and bug him enough so my teammates could do their job. The whole game was back and forth, and I didn’t know who would win. It was super intense, and I was along for the ride with everybody else, just trying to do my job and believing in my team.” This is your second Silver Cup title. How does this win compare to your previous victory in 2021? “This one is amazing. It was nice to win with Jesse, Nachi and my dad. I don’t think you can compare this to the first one, as the first one will always be the most special, but this was a good win for us. I’m very proud and happy to win it, especially since it’s my home club and we don’t know how long we are going to have the Silver Cup here. I will try and win it as many times as I can.” Prominent staples in the Santa Barbara high-goal season, Klentner earned his second Silver Cup following Klentner Ranch's first title in 2021. ©Michelle Lauren Having already secured the Silver Cup, does this add extra pressure, or does it bring confidence? "I would like to say it doesn’t, but in reality, it helps build confidence for the team. We went to the first [16-goal] final [Robert Skene Trophy], and we lost, then we won the Silver Cup, so we know we are one of the better teams here and deserve to be here. Just winning helps confirm what we already knew—that we deserve a spot here.” Klentner Ranch has made two 16-goal finals this season. How has the dynamic within the team evolved? “It has been an interesting dynamic as Jesse, my dad and I have played together for so long. It’s just trying to figure out one person, making it much easier. The dynamic from the beginning has been good. We recognize that Nachi has very good ball skills and he does a lot with the ball for the team, so we kind of play to his ability and his advantage. We all know Nachi is on his way up and so is Jesse. It’s been a great experience to be playing with both at the same time.” Klentner Ranch's Ignacio 'Nachi' Viana and Jake Klentner. ©Michelle Lauren How would you describe this year’s high-goal season in Santa Barbara? “I would say that Santa Barbara is an unrivaled location in polo. I’m biased because I’m from here, but I’ve also been to all the other polo areas and spots around the world and it still holds up to any one of them, especially the polo. The level here is amazing. Considering that this is the highest polo in the area means that everybody is bringing their best horses and players to compete, whereas in other places, the 16-goal might not be the highest level of polo, so people might not be playing their top horses. Polo has always been very good and very competitive here.” What are your plans after the season? “I don’t have other plans with polo after the season, I’m just going back to work. I work in construction, looking for another successful winter working and then get back to Santa Barbara next season in the summer and have another successful season. Overall, it’s been a great experience.” *Jake Klentner, Jesse Bray and Geronimo Obregon are Team USPA alumni. Team USPA is a USPA program designed to enhance and grow the sport of polo in the United States by identifying young, talented American players and providing mentored training and playing opportunities leading to a pool of higher-rated amateur and pro players and the resultant giveback to the sport of polo. • Acupuncture with Electricity vs. Traditional Acupuncture: Understanding the Differences

Acupuncture has been used for centuries as a healing practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to restore balance and promote healing. In modern times, a variation known as electroacupuncture has emerged, incorporating electrical stimulation to enhance the effects of traditional acupuncture. Understanding the differences between these two approaches can help individuals determine which method best suits their needs. Image by Alma Thai / Pexels Traditional Acupuncture: A Time-Tested Healing Method Traditional acupuncture is based on the concept of Qi (vital energy) flowing through meridians in the body. Practitioners insert fine needles into acupuncture points to unblock or redirect the flow of Qi, promoting natural healing and relieving pain. This method is commonly used to treat chronic pain, stress, digestive issues, and various other conditions. The stimulation from the needles alone is believed to trigger the body’s self-healing mechanisms, releasing endorphins and improving circulation. Electroacupuncture: Enhancing Stimulation with Electricity Electroacupuncture follows the same principles as traditional acupuncture but introduces a mild electrical current to the inserted needles. The current is delivered through small electrodes attached to the needles, creating a continuous stimulation that enhances the effects of acupuncture. This method is particularly beneficial for treating nerve-related conditions, chronic pain, and muscle disorders. The electrical pulses help stimulate deeper tissues, increase circulation, and promote muscle relaxation more effectively than manual needle manipulation alone. Key Differences and Benefits While both methods aim to promote healing, electroacupuncture is often considered more effective for certain conditions, such as nerve damage, paralysis, and severe muscle pain. The electrical stimulation provides a consistent and controlled intensity, which can lead to faster recovery times. Traditional acupuncture, on the other hand, relies on the practitioner’s manual techniques and is preferred by individuals seeking a more natural, subtle stimulation. Both techniques offer pain relief, improved circulation, and enhanced well-being. The choice between them depends on individual preferences, medical conditions, and treatment goals. Consulting with a qualified practitioner can help determine the most suitable approach for each person’s specific needs. By ML Staff. Image courtesy of Pexels

Against the incomparable backdrop of the majestic Place de la Concorde and the iconic Avenue des Champs-Elysées in the heart of the City of Light, Artistic Director Thomas Jolly once again presented a dazzling celebration and show.  The ceremony kicked off with a festive parade down the Champs-Elysées by 180 plus delegations from nations across the globe. The Maison created tuxedo-inspired outfits with a unique ‘French flag’ patina of blue and red hues.   For men, the outfits were paired with Berluti’s emblematic Shadow navy blue sneakers, revisited in France’s national colors, while women chose between the Shadow sneakers and the supple leather Lorenzo loafers. This historic collaboration marked a first for Berluti, which outfitted women for the first time as it superbly rose to the daunting challenge of ensuring that each member of Team France was a distinguished ambassador of French art de vivre  on the global stage. The design of the clothes takes into account the specific needs of the athletes and the event.   All eyes were drawn to Team France as they joined 184 other delegations to parade against the exceptional backdrop of the Champs-Elysées to the Place de la Concorde.   Vuarnet  During the Opening Ceremony for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the 150 dancers in the opening scene wore Vuarnet Legend 06 Greylynx sunglasses. The artist was decked out in a white embroidered single-breasted jacket, white flared pants, a white tank top and black cowboy boots. The look was completed by multiple gold brooches with pearls, as well as gold necklaces and a pair of Pilot sunglasses.  Following the tremendous success of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 – and thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee, the city of Paris, the French state, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the French Paralympic and Sports Committee (CPSF) – the Opening Ceremony was reinvented, transforming the City of Light into an ebullient playground to continue a unique festive celebration of sports in the heart of Paris.     ML Staff. • Empowering Feminine Health: The Story of Daniella Levy and Happy V

In the vibrant heart of Miami, as Hispanic Heritage Month approaches with its celebratory spirit, one figure stands out for her remarkable contribution to the community and the world of female entrepreneurship.  Daniella Levy, the founder and CEO of Happy V,  has carved a niche in the wellness industry by focusing on an area often shrouded in silence: feminine health. Her journey from her Latina roots to becoming a celebrated entrepreneur is not just inspiring but also emblematic of the resilience and pioneering spirit that defines many Latina women today. Daniella's story begins with a vision rooted in personal experience and a deep understanding of the gaps within the feminine healthcare sector. "We experienced first-hand the gaps that exist in meeting vaginal health needs in the 21st century," Daniella explains. It was this realization that led to the creation of Happy V, a brand dedicated to empowering women through high-quality information and products aimed at improving their lives. The mission? To build a stigma-free world where open dialogue about vaginal health is encouraged, supporting women to feel more confident than ever before. Happy V has become more than just a brand; it's a platform for change, advocacy, and empowerment. Daniella's commitment goes beyond business – it’s about uplifting other women and contributing positively to her local community through educational initiatives and wellness advocacy. Through Happy V, she has managed to foster an environment where discussions around feminine health are no longer taboo but welcomed and encouraged. But Daniella’s impact doesn’t stop there. She is deeply invested in supporting women-owned businesses and fostering diversity within the entrepreneurial space. Her work serves as a beacon for aspiring entrepreneurs, especially those from underrepresented communities who seldom see themselves reflected in business success stories.  Daniella’s perspective on this is clear: "Supporting women-owned businesses is not just about economic growth; it's about creating diverse, inclusive spaces where different voices are heard, respected, and celebrated," she said. The challenges faced by Latina entrepreneurs like Daniella cannot be overstated. They navigate a complex landscape marked by cultural expectations, systemic barriers to entry into the business world, and limited access to resources that could help elevate their ventures. Despite these hurdles, Daniella’s trajectory from her roots to launching Happy V exemplifies what can be achieved with perseverance, innovation, and an unwavering belief in one’s mission. Daniella Levy's journey with Happy V has been transformative not just for herself, but for countless other women who have found solace, support, and strength in her products and message. The impact on the community is palpable – with every woman empowered through better health education or improved well-being thanks to Happy V's products; the ripple effects are felt far beyond Miami. Happy V stands at the intersection of innovation, wellness advocacy, and community engagement - all driven by Daniella’s visionary leadership. Her work underscores an essential truth: when we focus on addressing specific health needs while promoting open dialogue and inclusivity; we pave the way for healthier societies built on understanding rather than stigma. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and honor individuals who significantly contribute to their communities' fabric like Daniella Levy does daily—it becomes clear why stories like hers are vital narrative threads in our collective tapestry. In essence, what makes Daniella Levy truly stand out is not just her entrepreneurial acumen, but her unyielding dedication to creating meaningful change—a testament to what happens when passion meets purpose head-on.  As Happy V continues its mission-driven journey towards making women happy at every stage of their life journey, they address common health issues through quality products and detailed information. They remain anchored by its founder's vision: A world where every woman feels supported, understood, empowered and unafraid to engage in candid conversations about their health.
