- Museum of Sex Miami Presents “Hard Art: Unruly Selections From the Beth Rudin Dewoody Collection”, Opening October 17, 2025
Visitors are invited to experience one of the world’s most daring private collections in Miami’s Allapattah District. Ryan Wilde, Kinkster, 2020 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy of the artist and Brigitte Mulholland, Paris Museum of Sex Miami, South Florida’s cultural landmark dedicated to exploring the intersections of art, sexuality, and society, is set to unveil “Hard Art: Unruly Selections from the Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection”. Debuting on October 17th, this provocative exhibition unites two institutions dedicated to supporting artist’s voices and championing uncensored expression, offering a bold and unflinching look at eroticism, power and cultural taboos through the lens of DeWoody’s visionary collection. Beth Rudin DeWoody, collector, philanthropist, and curator, has amassed a vast collection since acquiring her first drawing in 1969 at just 17 years old. Today, her holdings include some of the most daring works in contemporary art, with a keen eye for the witty, alluring, and subversive. Known for championing emerging and underrepresented voices, DeWoody embraces works that challenge convention and invite dialogue, seamlessly weaving pieces of eroticism into both her public exhibitions and personal living spaces–continually redefining what it means to be a true patron of contemporary art. The exhibition will present a wide range of media spanning from the 1930s to the present, including sculptures, paintings, collages, photography, and interactive installations. Visitors will encounter works that reframe sexuality in both playful and confrontational ways, with a focus on artists and content historically censored. Beth Rudin DeWoody “I’ve always been drawn to the erotic in art because it can be playful and deviant. We all like to feel a bit naughty,” said DeWoody. “If we’re not creating the work, we take pleasure in viewing it, even if we don’t always admit it. The Museum of Sex is daring, unbridled, and just plain fun, which is exactly why I love it. I couldn’t be happier about this collaboration and the chance to share a part of my collection that rarely gets seen.” Joan Semmel Red White and Blue, 1973 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy Alexander Gray Associates, New York © Joan Semmel / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York Rebecca Morgan, Flashing on FaceTime while Smoking, 2021 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy of the artist and Asya Geisberg Gallery, New York Karen Finley, dick pic, 2018 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy of the artist and FIERMAN, NY Jane Dickson, Cameo No. 2, 2019 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Photo by Jason Wyche, Courtesy of the artist and KARMA Delia Brown, An Elegant Woman in her Library, 2022 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy of the artist Ana Benaroya, Looking at me Looking at You, 2019 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy of the artist and Richard Heller Gallery A centerpiece of the exhibition is Marco Brambilla’s Sync (2006), a two-channel video installation that was once displayed in DeWoody’s own home. The work creates a sensory overload, splicing rapid-fire scenes of intimacy and sexual acts drawn from film, juxtaposed with split-screen footage of audience reactions. Placed at the end of the exhibition, Sync serves as both a climax and a reflection point, pushing viewers to consider their own role as observers. Alongside Brambilla, the exhibition will feature works by Jimmy DeSana, Bunny Yeager, John Kayser, and others, creating a dynamic dialogue between artists who have long tested the boundaries of cultural comfort. Since opening in 2024, the Museum of Sex in Miami has quickly established itself as South Florida’s newest cultural destination. Building on the legacy of its New York flagship, the museum creates exhibitions and experiences that challenge assumptions while celebrating the role of sexuality in art, history, and everyday life. With Hard Art, the museum continues its mission to push dialogue forward and provide a platform for artists whose work explores the many dimensions of desire. Hard Art will be on view through May 2026. For tickets and more information, please visit www.museumofsex.com or follow @MuseumofSex . By ML Staff. Content/images courtesy of the Museum of Sex.
- Van Cleef & Arpels Partners with L’ÉCOLE for Roger Caillois Exhibition in Paris
There is another reason for Miami travelers and international visitors to plan a trip to Paris this fall: Stones and Reveries: The Poetry and Minerals of Roger Caillois , opening November 6, 2025, at L’ÉCOLE , School of Jewelry Arts. The exhibition, presented in partnership with Van Cleef & Arpels and France’s Muséum national d’histoire naturelle (MNHN), will run through March 29, 2026, and offers a unique dialogue between science and poetry. The retrospective celebrates the work and mineral collection of twentieth-century French writer Roger Caillois (1913–1978), a poet, essayist, and scholar who explored the connections between art and nature. The exhibition, curated by Pr. François Farges, PhD, scientist in charge of MNHN’s gems and objets d’art, showcases nearly 200 minerals from Caillois’s collection alongside his iconic texts, many on display for the first time. Agate, Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Paris, Muséum national d'histoire naturelle, mineral and gem collection © François Farges Roger Caillois collected stones with passion and precision for over 25 years, inspired by their shapes, patterns, and natural motifs. His writings, including The Writing of Stones (1970), reflect his fascination with minerals as objects that spark imagination and reverie. Visitors will follow Caillois’s journeys to Patagonia, Japan, and China, discovering the influence of Asian culture, classical Chinese scholars, and the natural world on his work. Roger Caillois ©Sophie Bassouls “Through this exhibition, we hope to inspire visitors to pause and reflect on the poetic dimension of the mineral world,” said Élise Gonnet-Pon, Managing Director of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts France & Europe. “Our partnership with Van Cleef & Arpels and the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle allows us to bring these extraordinary specimens and texts together in a way that highlights both scientific precision and creative imagination.” Quartz, var.citrine, Origin unknown, Paris, Muséum national d'histoire naturelle © François Farges The exhibition also features Caillois’s “secret sculptures” made from minerals, agates, dendrites, and pietra paesina, arranged to evoke landscapes, cosmic miniatures, and abstract patterns. Visitors will see rare manuscripts, including rediscovered texts from 2023 that complement the displayed stones, illustrating the depth and breadth of Caillois’s mind. Interactive programming will accompany the exhibition, including guided tours, calligram workshops for adults and children, and talks with curator François Farges and L’ÉCOLE experts. Juliette Agnel’s photographic exhibition on minerals will also run throughout November, complementing the Caillois show. Founded in 2012 with support from Van Cleef & Arpels, L’ÉCOLE continues to foster dialogue between art, science, and literature through exhibitions, courses, and publications. The partnership has previously enabled exhibitions on Louis XIV’s diamonds and other historic collections, underscoring Van Cleef & Arpels’s long-standing commitment to cultural preservation. Stones and Reveries: The Poetry and Minerals of Roger Caillois opens November 6, 2025, at Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau, 16 bis boulevard Montmartre, Paris 9e. Admission is free upon reservation, with guided tours and educational programming available. For more information and registration, visit L’ÉCOLE’s website. By ML Staff. - 7 Reasons Multi-Purpose Collars Are Becoming Popular for Cat Flea Control
Flea control can feel like a constant task, especially if your cat spends time both indoors and outdoors. You want a method that works well without adding extra steps to your daily routine. Multi-purpose collars have gained attention because they offer a simple way to protect cats from fleas and other pests over time. Image by luengo_ua / Adobestock Instead of juggling multiple products, you can rely on one collar that provides steady protection. This shift has made collars more appealing for households that value convenience, long-lasting results, and ease of use. As a result, more cat owners are turning to this option to keep their pets comfortable and protected. Combines flea and tick protection in one collar A multi-purpose collar saves you from juggling different treatments for your cat. Instead of using one product for fleas and another for ticks, a single collar can handle both problems at once. This makes care simpler and more consistent. Parasites often appear together, so it makes sense to use a solution that addresses both. An all-in-one protection flea and tick collar gives steady coverage without the need for frequent applications. This approach reduces the chance of missing doses or leaving gaps in protection. These collars release active ingredients over time, which helps defend your cat for months. Because of this, you avoid the stress of applying messy topical treatments every few weeks. By combining flea and tick control in one step, you make it easier to keep your cat comfortable. It also helps reduce the spread of pests in your home, since continuous protection lowers the risk of infestations. Long-lasting effectiveness up to 8 months A major reason multi-purpose flea collars stand out is their long protection period. Many collars give up to 8 months of defense against fleas and ticks, which means you do not need to replace them often. This saves you time and reduces the hassle of frequent treatments. You also gain peace of mind knowing your cat stays covered through different seasons. Flea activity can rise in warmer months, but a collar that lasts this long helps provide steady support without gaps. In addition, fewer applications often mean less stress for your cat. Some cats dislike topical treatments or pills, but a collar that works for months avoids repeated handling. This long duration also makes the collars more cost-effective. Instead of buying new products every few weeks, you can rely on one collar for most of the year. That consistency appeals to many cat owners who want both convenience and value. Water-resistant design for outdoor cats If your cat spends time outside, a water-resistant collar helps protect its flea control function. Rain, damp grass, or even morning dew can weaken some collars, but a water-resistant design holds up better. This means your cat stays protected in different weather conditions. A collar that resists water also reduces the chance of losing effectiveness after your cat explores wet areas. For example, light rain or a drink from an outdoor water bowl will not wash away the treatment. This gives you more confidence in the collar’s performance. In addition, water resistance supports longer use without frequent replacement. You do not need to worry as much about the collar breaking down after exposure to moisture. As a result, your cat benefits from steady flea control while you save time and effort. This feature proves especially useful for cats that spend hours outside. It allows them to enjoy their environment while you maintain consistent protection against fleas. Continuous slow release of active ingredients A key feature of modern flea collars is the continuous slow release of their active ingredients. Instead of releasing everything at once, the collar delivers a steady amount over time. This allows your cat to stay protected for several months without frequent reapplication. The ingredients spread across your cat’s skin and coat, creating a protective layer against fleas and ticks. Because the release is gradual, the collar maintains effectiveness even as your cat moves through different environments. This method reduces the need for constant treatments. You can place the collar on your cat and let it provide steady coverage without daily effort. For many pet owners, this makes flea control simpler and less stressful. Different collars may last for varying lengths of time, but many are designed to work for several months. As a result, you gain long-term protection that fits naturally into your routine without frequent reminders or extra steps. Reduces need for multiple treatments A multi-purpose flea collar can help you cut down on the number of separate products your cat needs. Instead of combining sprays, spot-on treatments, and powders, you can use one collar that covers several types of parasites. This makes your routine simpler and less time-consuming. Because the collar works over a longer period, you do not have to reapply treatments every few weeks. This steady protection means fewer chances of missing a dose or forgetting a step. As a result, your cat stays covered without constant attention from you. In addition, fewer treatments often mean less stress for your cat. Many cats dislike topical solutions or oral medications, but a collar usually feels less invasive. By reducing the number of products you use, you also limit possible side effects from mixing different treatments. This approach can also save you money over time. Instead of buying multiple products, you invest in one collar that addresses several concerns at once. Image by George Dzyura / Adobestock Convenient and easy to use daily You can place a multi-purpose flea collar on your cat once and let it work for weeks or even months. This saves you from repeating treatments often, which can feel like a chore. The collar stays on your cat without extra effort from you each day. Unlike sprays or spot-on liquids, a collar does not require measuring doses or applying products to your cat’s skin. You avoid the mess and the chance of your cat licking off the treatment. This makes the process simpler and less stressful for both of you. In addition, the lightweight design allows your cat to wear it comfortably without disrupting normal activity. You do not need to remove it for play or rest. Therefore, the collar provides steady protection while fitting into your daily routine with ease. Suitable for cats with active lifestyles A multi-purpose collar works well for cats that spend a lot of time exploring. It stays secure without slipping off easily, which helps you avoid constant adjustments. This makes it a practical choice if your cat moves around a lot indoors or outdoors. The collar provides steady flea control while your cat roams, climbs, or plays. Unlike some spot treatments that can wear off, the collar continues to release protection over time. As a result, your cat stays guarded even with frequent activity. You also gain peace of mind because the collar does not interfere with your cat’s movement. It feels light and flexible, so your cat can jump or stretch without discomfort. That balance of comfort and function makes it suitable for an active routine. In addition, many collars resist water and dirt, which helps them last longer. If your cat enjoys exploring outside or gets into messy spots, the collar still works as intended. This durability helps support consistent flea control without frequent replacement. Conclusion You now see why multi-purpose collars have gained attention for cat flea control. They combine flea prevention with added features, which saves you time and reduces the need for multiple products. These collars can help manage fleas while also offering comfort and convenience for your cat. However, effectiveness often depends on your cat’s environment and the type of collar you choose. By weighing the benefits and possible drawbacks, you can decide if a multi-purpose collar fits your cat’s needs. This approach gives you a simple and practical way to support your cat’s health. - Business Casual Outfit Advice for Men
Once considered a vague middle ground between suits and jeans, business casual has become the modern man’s daily uniform — a dress code that demands balance, confidence, and a touch of personal flair. Too formal, and you risk looking out of place; too relaxed, and professionalism slips away. The key lies in mastering pieces that transition seamlessly from the boardroom to after-hours, creating a wardrobe that communicates competence without sacrificing individuality. In this guide, we’ll break down essential business casual outfit advice for men, showing how to refine your style for every setting while keeping comfort and sophistication in perfect harmony. Rethinking Business Casual Few dress codes generate as much confusion as business casual . What was once a vague middle ground between the formality of a suit and the ease of weekend attire has evolved into a sophisticated category of its own. Done right, it’s a visual handshake : polished enough to earn respect in a meeting, but relaxed enough to move fluidly into after-hours social life. The art lies in knowing how to balance these two worlds so that your outfit feels intentional rather than improvised. Tailoring Without the Tie Even in its most relaxed form, business casual draws its backbone from tailoring . A softly structured blazer — often in wool, cotton, or linen — becomes the anchor piece, lending refinement without rigidity. Unlike boardroom suiting, these jackets favor natural shoulders and unlined constructions, offering freedom while retaining shape. When paired with slim chinos or sharply pressed trousers , the look communicates seriousness without sliding into stiffness. Tailoring here is less about tradition than it is about reinterpreting authority through comfort . The Elevated Casual Layer If tailoring is the skeleton, shirts and knitwear are the skin that gives business casual its identity. The reliable Oxford button-down provides crispness, while fine-gauge merino knits or cashmere crewnecks add depth and versatility. The modern man also embraces the polo shirt as a refined alternative to the shirt-and-tie formula. And for warmer days, even something as simple as italian designer t-shirts can step into the spotlight, provided the cut is immaculate and the fabric luxurious. It’s proof that casual elements can be elevated into something worthy of the office when executed with precision. Footwear as the Style Compass The shoes you choose can recalibrate the entire tone of a business casual look. Leather loafers whisper heritage, derbies add weight and authority, while suede chukkas or minimalist sneakers inject modernity. In this dress code, footwear is the style compass , pointing either toward formality or relaxation. Regardless of choice, the critical element is clean, sleek craftsmanship — because scuffed shoes can undo an otherwise flawless outfit. Accessories as Measured Expressions Accessories in business casual are not flamboyant declarations but refined punctuation marks . A textured leather belt in a rich patina, a minimalist timepiece that signals quiet confidence, or a discreet pocket square can all add subtle personality. The emphasis should always be on restraint : in business casual, less is always more. The power lies in knowing when to stop. Confidence as the Final Ingredient The secret to mastering business casual isn’t hidden in tailoring or fabrics — it’s in the confidence with which they’re worn. A man who knows his clothes fit impeccably, who understands that style is communication , wears business casual not as a compromise but as an intentional expression. Confidence transforms a blazer and knit into a statement of ease, authority, and individuality . The Modern Gentleman’s Uniform At its best, business casual is the modern uniform of the gentleman . It strips away the rigidity of traditional office wear while refusing the carelessness of pure casual. It offers men the freedom to express personality through detail while maintaining an aura of professionalism. In the end, business casual isn’t a category — it’s a mindset : one that fuses polish with authenticity, and professionalism with modern style. By ML Staff
- What to Discard Before a Move, and How to Do It
Open any closet a month before moving and you will find things that have not been touched in years. Old cords, chipped plates, a stack of mystery lids, all take up space and add weight to the move. Sorting now saves time, money, and stress later. If you are working with Bethesda local movers , or any trusted crew, it also makes loading day safer and faster because only the right items reach the truck. Image by RDNE Stock Project / Pexels Start With a Simple Sort Begin one room at a time. Grab four containers or corners of the room and label them keep, donate, sell, discard. Do not overthink it. Pick up each item and ask two questions. Did I use this in the last year. Would I buy it again today. If the answer is no twice, it moves out. Work from the bulkier zones first. Garage, attic, basement, shed, and the space under beds hold the largest and heaviest items. Clearing those early gives you quick wins and frees up floor space for packing. Set a small daily target. Twenty minutes after dinner, one cabinet per morning, or ten items each day. Small, steady progress beats a weekend rush. What To Toss, Recycle, or Hazard Bin Some items cannot go on the moving truck or into a household bin. Check local rules for paint, solvents, propane, fertilizers, and pool chemicals. Many cities run drop off days for household hazardous waste. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency summarizes what counts as hazardous waste and how to dispose of it safely, including batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and certain cleaners. See the EPA guidance for details, then follow your local program’s instructions for drop off or pick up. Electronics and appliances deserve care too. If the device is dead or very old, look for an e waste event or a city collection site. If it still works and holds personal data, wipe it before donation or sale. Recycling is a good path for metal shelving, broken aluminum lawn chairs, and some plastics. Avoid “wishcycling.” If your hauler does not list an item, it likely belongs in the trash or special collection. What To Donate or Sell Lightly used items help others and reduce trash volume. Think cookware sets with all parts, clean bedding, unexpired unopened pantry goods, baby gear in good condition, and furniture that is sturdy and safe. Habitat for Humanity ReStore often accepts furniture, appliances, fixtures, and building materials. Many locations offer pickup for large items, which is a big help during a move. Check your nearest ReStore’s accept list and schedule window. Link below. Hold a short sell phase for items with clear value. Limit it to one weekend so the process does not drag on. Use one app or site to keep messages in one place. Take clear photos in daylight, state pickup only, and price to move. If it does not sell by Sunday night, move it to donation. Create a “maybe” box for sentimental items. Seal it, date it, and open it six months after you settle in. If you never missed the contents, you can let them go with a calm mind. What To Shred or Wipe Before you toss paper, pull out anything with personal data. Shred old bank statements, medical bills, tax forms past the retention period, and junk mail with your name and barcode. Many office supply stores and community events offer drop off shredding by the pound. Wipe data from phones, tablets, laptops, and smart home hubs. Log out of accounts, remove SIM cards, and do a factory reset. For external drives, use a simple disk wipe tool or remove and physically destroy the drive if you prefer a hard stop. How a Dumpster Helps a Pre-Move Cleanout If you are clearing out a garage, basement, or a full house, renting a roll off dumpster can keep the process smooth. A 10 yard container fits small cleanouts and dense loads like tile or plaster. A 15 to 20 yard container suits most home decluttering before a move, especially when you are tossing mixed household junk and small furniture. Reserve a larger 30 or 40 yard bin only for big projects such as whole home renovations or major estate cleanouts. Place the dumpster on a flat surface near your entry, then load in layers. Put flat items on the bottom, break down boxes, and fill gaps with smaller pieces. Keep prohibited items out. Common no go items include tires, paint, fuel, and chemicals. Ask the rental company for its allowed list and weight limits, since overloading leads to extra fees or a refused pickup. Schedule delivery for the start of your purge week and pickup for the end. Many companies offer flexible terms, so you are not racing the clock. If on street placement is required, call the city about a short permit. A quick call avoids tickets and delays. Time Your Purge To Your Move Work backward from move day. Six weeks out, book your mover and your dumpster if you plan to use one. Five weeks out, clear storage spaces. Four weeks out, sell and donate furniture, sports gear, and decor. Three weeks out, tackle kitchen extras, linens, and books. Two weeks out, decide on the “maybe” items and deal with hazardous waste. One week out, pack the last rooms and arrange donation pickups for anything that did not sell. As you pack, measure large items and doorways in your new place. If a couch or cabinet will not fit, list it now rather than paying to move it. Movers can help with measurements and path planning, which saves you from stair surprises. Tell your mover about any items that need special handling, like a piano or a safe. This helps them bring the right crew and tools. It also keeps you from holding on to something that is better sold or rehomed before the move. Image by RDNE Stock Project / Pexels Make Choices, Then Move Good moves start with clear choices. Decide what stays, what helps someone else, and what needs safe disposal. Use donation for items with life left, shredding and data wipes for privacy, special collection for hazardous waste, and a well sized dumpster for the junk pile. Keep the calendar tight, and lean on professionals for advice on weight, access, and timing. You will arrive lighter, spend less on transport, and set up your new place with room to breathe. The Our Fund Foundation announced it will award a total of $370,00 in grants through its 2025 Arts & Culture Fund to support 19 organizations and LGBTQ+-specific projects in Broward and Miami-Dade counties that inspire creativity, foster belonging and strengthen community through shared experiences. This year’s grant recipients, recognized for their impact on South Florida’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community, will receive awards ranging from $5,000 to $40,000 during a celebratory reception on Wednesday, October 15, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at The Our Fund Foundation headquarters, 1201 NE 25th Street, Suite 108 in Wilton Manors. The Arts & Culture Fund is fueled by The Our Fund Foundation’s endowment and the newly created Pillars Fund , which provides multi-year operating support for established LGBTQ+-serving organizations that have demonstrated consistent impact and a long-standing partnership with the nonprofit. This year’s grants were made even more impactful thanks to the significant support of The Warten Foundation and generous donors whose contributions expand the program’s reach. “The deep commitment from our supporters reflects a shared belief that the arts not only preserve our culture and history but also shape our future,” said David Jobin , President and CEO of The Our Fund Foundation. “With the current political climate and the decimation of Florida’s state arts and culture funding, it is more vital than ever to support these talented organizations that enrich our community in so many ways. These grants would not be possible without the generosity and foresight of our Legacy Society members who included The Our Fund in their wills and estate plans.” The Our Fund Foundation’s 2025 LGBTQ+ Arts & Culture Fund & Culture Fund Grant recipients include: ArtsUnited Fostering the creative expression of LGBTQ+ artists by providing exhibition opportunities and community engagement through the arts.
