- From a Tuscan Villa Deposit to Parisian Antiques: A Guide to Flawless International Payments
No matter what you want to do in life, it can feel like there is always a piece of admin or personal finance that you need to do alongside it. The connected nature of the world means that messages, money, and physical items are constantly moving this way and that, and being able to make things happen is essential. With this in mind, we want to guide you through everything you need to know about the complex world of international payments. Why do you need to make international payments? The minute you pay for a service or buy an asset that is in a foreign country, you will need to take care of an international money transfer. Yes, your bank will say that they can help you here, but they will often be slow, inflexible, and charge you more than you should have to pay. A specialist money transfer service will offer you a fast, flexible, and affordable service that is always 100% transparent. Let’s take a look at what you need to do to make use of one. Check the currencies involved If you are sunning yourself in Miami and you want to buy an antique from a Parisian showroom, you will need to convert Dollars into Euros. A transfer service will need to cover both currencies, offer a clear exchange rate between the two, and have the infrastructure that allows them to communicate with a bank in a foreign country. Traditional banks can do this in some cases, but they tend to be slow and costly to use. Confirm the recipient’s details As with any transaction, domestic or international, you need to make sure you have the correct details for the recipient. Their full name, current address, and the size and nature of the payment all need to be collected and then double-checked. Even if you are confident that you know everything off by heart, take a couple of minutes to run back through the details. It’s the best way to save yourself from potentially costly and time-consuming delays that can arise when something simple is missed or overlooked. Find the banking details Every bank account has a unique number when used domestically, and these numbers are then lengthened when used internationally. You can learn more about IBAN formatting by using many of the useful online tools that are available. You will also need to know a little about SWIFT Codes — these are the details that banks use to communicate with one another. Without a SWIFT code, your bank will not be able to connect with the recipient’s bank, even if you have their IBAN. Making sure both numbers are correct and supplied in a timely fashion is essential. Understand the fees and charges Money transfer services are businesses, so they will charge a small fee for using their services, but it will be significantly less than a bank would charge, and the service will be much faster. Asking for a transparent breakdown of the fees and charges will allow you to budget accordingly. The amount you will be charged will depend on the currencies, locations, and total amounts involved. Factor in the transfer times If you have bid for an antique, it is typical for the auction house to hold the item for a pre-determined period of time. After this time limit has elapsed, they reserve the right to cancel the sale and put the item back on the market. With this in mind, you want to know how long the transfer will take and how you can track its speed and progress along the way. A live tracking service can be very helpful here, particularly if you are sending money across several different time zones. Clarify anything you’re unsure of The more questions you ask, the less you will be leaving to chance or uncertainty. A specialist remittance service will appreciate the fact that this may be the first time you have ever used such a service, and they will be more than happy to guide you through everything you need to know. Finding a service that is transparent, fast, affordable, and always happy to answer a couple of extra questions is certainly the way to go. Do it sooner rather than later, and you’ll be able to enjoy the convenience of flawless international transfers for many years to come. Perfect when you want to be able to treat yourself to the finer things in life without the stress and admin that used to come with it. By ML staff. Image courtesy of Pexels.
- Why Do Injured Workers in Lexington, SC Often Face Delays in Getting Compensation?
When an employee gets hurt while working in Lexington, South Carolina, they have the right to receive workers’ compensation benefits to cover medical expenses and lost wages. Unfortunately, many injured workers experience unexpected delays before getting the help they deserve. These delays often arise from paperwork errors, slow insurance responses, or disagreements between the worker, employer, and insurer. Knowing what causes these setbacks allows injured employees to guide the process more confidently and take the right steps to ensure their claim moves forward without unnecessary obstacles. Whisk What Common Administrative Issues Cause Delays in Workers’ Compensation Claims? One of the most frequent reasons for delays in workers’ compensation claims is administrative error. Filing a claim requires a series of precise steps, and any small mistake can set the process back. Missing documentation, incorrect information, or incomplete forms can result in delays as the claim is returned for correction. The South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission (SCWCC) is strict about following the required filing procedures. When any paperwork is incomplete or improperly filed, the processing time can be extended significantly. These minor errors can cause an already complicated process to stretch over weeks or even months. Employers themselves sometimes contribute to delays when accident reports are submitted late. When this doesn’t happen, it causes a delay in the worker’s ability to access compensation. If you are experiencing a delay in your workers’ compensation claim, consulting with a Lexington workers’ compensation lawyer at Stewart Law Offices can help review the paperwork and provide assistance to help the claim process run efficiently and accurately. Taking quick action can reduce delays and help bring the claim to a proper resolution. For personal assistance with your claim, consider visiting their Lexington Office located at 203 W Main St, Suite D, Lexington, SC 29072, or call 803-520-0003. Why Do Insurance Companies Often Take Time to Approve or Deny Claims? Insurance companies are responsible for reviewing workers’ compensation claims to determine whether they are valid. This process takes time, as the insurance adjuster must thoroughly assess the details of the claim and confirm the injury’s legitimacy. When an injury is reported, insurers often need to verify that the accident happened during work hours and that the injury requires medical treatment. To accomplish this, they may request additional records or conduct an independent medical evaluation (IME). All these procedures, while necessary for avoiding fraudulent claims, often result in delays. In some instances, the insurance company may dispute aspects of the claim, such as the severity of the injury or the necessity of particular treatments. These disputes can further extend the approval process. It’s not uncommon for insurers to request more information before deciding on a claim. Without legal help, workers might find it difficult to respond to these requests or understand the implications of missing documentation. Having a Lexington workers' compensation lawyer can help you stay informed about the necessary steps and facilitate a smoother, more efficient process. How Does Medical Documentation Affect the Timeliness of Workers' Compensation Claims? A major factor influencing the speed of compensation is the medical evidence provided. Workers’ compensation benefits rely heavily on detailed medical documentation that proves the severity of the injury. However, delays in obtaining these reports can prevent the claim from progressing. Many workers in Lexington, South Carolina, receive treatment or evaluations at Prisma Health Baptist Hospital, where waiting for test results or additional procedures can extend the diagnosis process. This waiting period often creates a temporary pause in the overall workers’ compensation claim. Similarly, doctors may be unfamiliar with workers’ compensation protocols, leading to delays in submitting necessary reports or medical bills. If you’re facing such delays, a lawyer experienced in workers’ compensation claims in Lexington can help facilitate communication between you and your healthcare provider. How Do Employer Disputes Contribute to Delayed Payments? Employers sometimes challenge the legitimacy of the injury or argue that it didn’t happen during work hours. For example, an injury sustained during a lunch break or off-site work may be contested. In these cases, workers might need to go through a formal hearing process to determine whether the injury qualifies for workers' compensation benefits. Disputes may also arise regarding the extent of an injury and whether the worker is entitled to ongoing treatment or Permanent Total Disability (PTD) benefits. If an employer disagrees with a doctor’s assessment, this could delay the worker’s access to necessary medical care or financial compensation. Additionally, discrepancies in accident reports or a lack of timely reporting can complicate matters further. Without thorough documentation from the employer, the process can slow down considerably, affecting the speed at which the claim is resolved. How Can Injured Employees Minimize Delays? While it’s not possible to eliminate delays completely, workers can take proactive steps to reduce the likelihood of them occurring. By acting early and staying organized, workers can minimize complications and avoid unnecessary setbacks. Responding quickly and providing all necessary documents on time can prevent common delays caused by missing or incomplete information. Here are a few tips to help speed up the claims process: 1. Report the Injury Quickly South Carolina law generally requires workers to notify their employer about a workplace injury within 90 days. The sooner this happens, the sooner the employer can begin processing the claim and submit the necessary paperwork. 2. Keep Accurate Records Make sure to keep a record of all communications with your employer, medical providers, and the insurance company. Document the dates of any doctor visits, treatments, or other medical services. This will be important if there is any dispute regarding your treatment or the nature of the injury. 3. Seek Legal Help Early A Lexington workers' compensation attorney provides valuable guidance throughout the process. Lawyers can assist with filing paperwork, understanding what documentation is required, and helping your claim progress. They also act as advocates, assisting you to protect your rights throughout the process. 4. Follow Medical Advice Be sure to attend all medical appointments and follow your doctor's treatment plan. Missing appointments or failing to adhere to prescribed treatments can lead to delays in your claim or even result in a suspension of benefits. 5. Respond to Requests for Information When the insurer or Workers’ Compensation Commission requests additional information, respond as quickly as possible. Delays in providing required documents can slow down the entire process. Whisk Frequently Asked Questions 1. How long does it typically take to receive workers’ compensation benefits in South Carolina? The length of time it takes to receive workers’ compensation benefits depends on several factors, including the complexity of the case, whether there are disputes, and how quickly medical documentation is provided. In general, benefits should begin within a few weeks, but contested cases can take much longer. 2. Can I choose my doctor for workers' compensation treatment? In South Carolina, the employer or insurance company typically chooses the doctor. If the worker disagrees with the chosen doctor, they may request a change through the Workers' Compensation Commission. 3. What should I do if my employer retaliates after I file a claim? South Carolina law prohibits retaliation for filing a workers' compensation claim. If you believe your employer is retaliating, contact an attorney to discuss your legal options By ML staff. - Why Luxury Sneakers Still Matter
Sneakers used to be simple. Something you laced up for a quick errand or a walk around the block. But in recent years, they've become a lot more than that. These days, luxury sneakers are part of everyday wardrobes, worn with everything from denim and blazers to wide-leg trousers and linen shirts. They fit in a city where people care about looking good without trying too hard. And while trends come and go, this style shift has real staying power. Style That Feels Personal What makes a pair of sneakers special goes beyond the material and craftsmanship, although those elements are essential. It's how they let someone show personality without overdoing it. Wear a clean, minimal pair with something bold or let the shoes talk if the rest of your look is simple. In men's fashion, it's often about finding that sweet spot between relaxed and polished. A classic example? Pairing sneakers with a leather jacket. That look has been around for decades and still works because it never looks like you're trying too hard. Built to Last, Designed to Evolve There's a reason people keep coming back to great, crafted footwear. They age nicely, break in the way a good pair of jeans does, and don't need to be replaced every season. A big part of sneakers' appeal is how they feel over time. You might buy them because you like the look, but keep them because they become part of your everyday rhythm. They're not flashy, just thoughtfully made. According to Business of Fashion, sneakers remain permanently in luxury fashion. That shift didn't happen overnight. It happened because people started to value comfort and quality just as much as style. And when you find something that offers all three, it tends to stick. The sneaker market is growing steadily, with projections showing it could reach nearly $158 billion by 2033. Cultural influence, innovative brand collaborations, better tech, and a growing focus on health, fitness, and sustainability drive this rise. Sneakers in the SoFlo Mix In places like The Magic City, style has to work with the climate and the culture. No one wants to be uncomfortable, especially when out and about. That's part of why luxury sneakers fit the city so well. They're light, easy to wear, and can move from day to night without changing outfits. You'll see them paired with casual summer suits, crisp linen shirts, or vintage band tees. There's no correct style, and that's precisely the idea. Whether someone is heading to a gallery, a café, or just walking along the beach path, the proper footwear goes with almost anything. That quiet confidence matters more now, especially in places where people appreciate attention to detail rather than big logos or trends. Final Thought The rise of luxury sneakers isn't merely about fashion. It's about how people want to feel in what they wear: comfortable, confident, and themselves. This footwear is practical, holds up over time, and adapts to your style. That's what makes them worth holding onto. By ML Staff. Content/image courtesy of Golden Goose.

Today, her holdings include some of the most daring works in contemporary art, with a keen eye for the witty, alluring, and subversive. Known for championing emerging and underrepresented voices, DeWoody embraces works that challenge convention and invite dialogue, seamlessly weaving pieces of eroticism into both her public exhibitions and personal living spaces–continually redefining what it means to be a true patron of contemporary art. The exhibition will present a wide range of media spanning from the 1930s to the present, including sculptures, paintings, collages, photography, and interactive installations. Visitors will encounter works that reframe sexuality in both playful and confrontational ways, with a focus on artists and content historically censored. Beth Rudin DeWoody “I’ve always been drawn to the erotic in art because it can be playful and deviant. We all like to feel a bit naughty,” said DeWoody. “If we’re not creating the work, we take pleasure in viewing it, even if we don’t always admit it. The Museum of Sex is daring, unbridled, and just plain fun, which is exactly why I love it. I couldn’t be happier about this collaboration and the chance to share a part of my collection that rarely gets seen.” Joan Semmel Red White and Blue, 1973 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy Alexander Gray Associates, New York © Joan Semmel / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York Rebecca Morgan, Flashing on FaceTime while Smoking, 2021 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy of the artist and Asya Geisberg Gallery, New York Karen Finley, dick pic, 2018 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy of the artist and FIERMAN, NY Jane Dickson, Cameo No. 2, 2019 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Photo by Jason Wyche, Courtesy of the artist and KARMA Delia Brown, An Elegant Woman in her Library, 2022 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy of the artist Ana Benaroya, Looking at me Looking at You, 2019 Collection of Beth Rudin DeWoody Courtesy of the artist and Richard Heller Gallery A centerpiece of the exhibition is Marco Brambilla’s Sync (2006), a two-channel video installation that was once displayed in DeWoody’s own home. The work creates a sensory overload, splicing rapid-fire scenes of intimacy and sexual acts drawn from film, juxtaposed with split-screen footage of audience reactions. Placed at the end of the exhibition, Sync serves as both a climax and a reflection point, pushing viewers to consider their own role as observers. Alongside Brambilla, the exhibition will feature works by Jimmy DeSana, Bunny Yeager, John Kayser, and others, creating a dynamic dialogue between artists who have long tested the boundaries of cultural comfort. Since opening in 2024, the Museum of Sex in Miami has quickly established itself as South Florida’s newest cultural destination. Building on the legacy of its New York flagship, the museum creates exhibitions and experiences that challenge assumptions while celebrating the role of sexuality in art, history, and everyday life. With Hard Art, the museum continues its mission to push dialogue forward and provide a platform for artists whose work explores the many dimensions of desire. Hard Art will be on view through May 2026. For tickets and more information, please visit www.museumofsex.com or follow @MuseumofSex . By ML Staff. Content/images courtesy of the Museum of Sex.
- Van Cleef & Arpels Partners with L’ÉCOLE for Roger Caillois Exhibition in Paris
There is another reason for Miami travelers and international visitors to plan a trip to Paris this fall: Stones and Reveries: The Poetry and Minerals of Roger Caillois , opening November 6, 2025, at L’ÉCOLE , School of Jewelry Arts. The exhibition, presented in partnership with Van Cleef & Arpels and France’s Muséum national d’histoire naturelle (MNHN), will run through March 29, 2026, and offers a unique dialogue between science and poetry. The retrospective celebrates the work and mineral collection of twentieth-century French writer Roger Caillois (1913–1978), a poet, essayist, and scholar who explored the connections between art and nature. The exhibition, curated by Pr. François Farges, PhD, scientist in charge of MNHN’s gems and objets d’art, showcases nearly 200 minerals from Caillois’s collection alongside his iconic texts, many on display for the first time. Paris, Muséum national d'histoire naturelle, mineral and gem collection © François Farges Roger Caillois collected stones with passion and precision for over 25 years, inspired by their shapes, patterns, and natural motifs. His writings, including The Writing of Stones (1970), reflect his fascination with minerals as objects that spark imagination and reverie. Visitors will follow Caillois’s journeys to Patagonia, Japan, and China, discovering the influence of Asian culture, classical Chinese scholars, and the natural world on his work. Roger Caillois ©Sophie Bassouls “Through this exhibition, we hope to inspire visitors to pause and reflect on the poetic dimension of the mineral world,” said Élise Gonnet-Pon, Managing Director of L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts France & Europe. “Our partnership with Van Cleef & Arpels and the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle allows us to bring these extraordinary specimens and texts together in a way that highlights both scientific precision and creative imagination.” Quartz, var.citrine, Origin unknown, Paris, Muséum national d'histoire naturelle © François Farges The exhibition also features Caillois’s “secret sculptures” made from minerals, agates, dendrites, and pietra paesina, arranged to evoke landscapes, cosmic miniatures, and abstract patterns. Visitors will see rare manuscripts, including rediscovered texts from 2023 that complement the displayed stones, illustrating the depth and breadth of Caillois’s mind. Interactive programming will accompany the exhibition, including guided tours, calligram workshops for adults and children, and talks with curator François Farges and L’ÉCOLE experts. Juliette Agnel’s photographic exhibition on minerals will also run throughout November, complementing the Caillois show. Founded in 2012 with support from Van Cleef & Arpels, L’ÉCOLE continues to foster dialogue between art, science, and literature through exhibitions, courses, and publications. The partnership has previously enabled exhibitions on Louis XIV’s diamonds and other historic collections, underscoring Van Cleef & Arpels’s long-standing commitment to cultural preservation. Stones and Reveries: The Poetry and Minerals of Roger Caillois opens November 6, 2025, at Hôtel de Mercy-Argenteau, 16 bis boulevard Montmartre, Paris 9e.
