  • Louis Vuitton 'Fantasmagory': A Masterpiece Fragrance by Jacques Cavallier & Frank Gehry

Louis Vuitton unveils Fantasmagory , the latest marvel in its Les Extraits Collection. Born from the collaboration between Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and visionary architect Frank Gehry, this fragrance redefines the Extraits codes with an extraordinary concentration of scent. Every note embodies a deep, radical elegance, promising an olfactory journey that is both profound and unforgettable. At the heart of Fantasmagory lies a monumental ingredient: vanilla. Papuan tahitensis vanilla, cryogenically frozen and CO2-extracted for absolute purity, mingles with misty anise, gentle florals, and leather infusions. Almonds from Italy bring a creamy, amaretto-like warmth, while CO2-extracted ginger adds striking freshness. Sparkling citrus facets unfold into smouldering spices, creating a radiant composition that is both bold and delicately layered. Frank Gehry’s signature artistry extends to the fragrance bottle, where sculptural innovation meets elegance. He softened the iconic curves, infused a sense of fluid movement, and designed a cap inspired by a wind-blown flower, giving life to silver petals that flutter atop the luminous yellow-green liquid. Available now in select stores and online, Fantasmagory stands as a testament to the seamless fusion of perfumery and architecture. Learn more at  Louis Vuitton . By ML Staff. Photos/LV

  • Budget All Season Sport Tires: A Driver's Review

Budget and sport tires?! These two things usually do not mix together. The qualities that make a sporty vehicle, like high-end materials, specialized engineering, and top-tier performance, are inherently expensive to produce. Cars with a smaller price tag must resort to compromises that trade some of these ideal sport characteristics for more affordable alternatives.  To make a sports car more budget-friendly, manufacturers often compromise its performance features. This can include reducing power by opting for smaller, less powerful engines. Additionally, they may use standard components that are heavier and less capable than those found in more expensive models. Furthermore, the handling may suffer due to a lack of meticulous engineering and advanced suspension systems, resulting in a less responsive and exhilarating driving experience. Let’s discover what budget all season tires look like, how they perform, and who the ideal driver profile is for these tires.  Tread Pattern, Sidewall Aesthetics, Perceived Quality Are budget all season sport tires designed and manufactured differently from more expensive options? Yes, they are. Budget tires typically feature cost-effective tread patterns that provide balanced performance throughout the year. The tread patterns often have simpler designs, which can be either symmetric or asymmetric.    While there may not be many differences between budget and premium sport tires, one key distinction is in the complexity of the tread patterns. Budget tires are made with less complex designs compared to premium tires, which can impact high-performance  handling, especially in varied driving conditions.   The sidewalls of budget tires tend to be plain and functional, prioritizing practicality over aesthetics. They often display simple lettering, whereas premium tires often feature stylized logos or motorsport-inspired designs. This simplicity helps minimize manufacturing costs and keeps the design straightforward. Some budget tires even have reversible sidewalls, providing consumers with different cosmetic options.   Furthermore, the perceived quality of budget all season sport tires is generally lower than that of premium tires. This is primarily due to the use of more basic materials and engineering. Budget tires often utilize cheaper rubber compounds that do not provide the same grip or wear resistance as the high-silica compounds found in premium tires. As a result, budget tires usually have a shorter lifespan and a lower treadwear rate compared to their premium counterparts.    In addition, budget tires tend to have longer stopping distances in wet conditions and less responsive handling. They can also produce increased road noise, as their tread patterns and cheaper rubber compounds are often not optimized for a quieter ride. Everyday Commuting: Wet and Dry Grip on City Streets and Highways For the typical commuter driving moderately in an area with mild weather, budget all season sport tires can provide a solid balance between cost and performance. They are a safe and reasonable choice for most daily driving needs. Let’s explore the differences between premium and budget tires in terms of dry and wet grip. Budget all season tires offer adequate performance for everyday city streets and highways. These tires ensure reliable grip in typical dry and wet conditions for daily driving. However, they have compromised performance limits; high-end tires utilize superior materials and technology for maximum grip. In terms of dry grip, some budget-friendly options feature tread patterns optimized for grip during the quick starts and stops common in city driving. Wet grip on city streets and highways is particularly important due to the risk of hydroplaning. Budget tires often lack the sophisticated rubber compounds and tread patterns found in premium tires. This can result in longer stopping distances and a higher risk of hydroplaning in heavy rain. Premium tires, on the other hand, incorporate specialized technologies to maximize grip on wet roads, while budget tires often sacrifice this performance for a lower price. For those who frequently drive in challenging wet weather, the reduced performance of budget tires is a significant safety factor to consider. Pushing the Limits: Performance and Handling Pushing the limits with budget tires can significantly compromise safety and handling, as they lack the advanced technology of premium tires for grip, braking, cornering, traction, and maneuvering. These tires may offer cost savings, but they provide less durable performance, have a shorter service life, and may not perform well in extreme weather conditions. For safety and optimal performance, it is better to invest in higher-quality tires.  The Value Equation: Cost vs. Performance The initial cost of a budget all season tire  is somewhere between $460 and $680, while premium tires can exceed $1000 for a set. But, budget all season tires are higher in long-term cost, by using cheaper materials that wear out faster and require more frequent replacement. On the other hand, premium tires ensure lower long-term cost, which leads to a longer lifespan, making them cheaper. When we talk about fuel efficiency, budget tires are less optimized for fuel economy compared to premium tires with low rolling resistance.  Ideal Driver Profile: Who These Tires Are Actually For And Who Should Avoid Them Budget all season sport tires are designed for budget-conscious drivers in temperate climates who seek improved handling and performance without the need for top-tier grip or serious winter capability. However, these tires may not be suitable if you require reliable year-round traction, especially in heavy snow, or if you prioritize maximum driving performance, fuel-efficient traction, and longer-lasting tread life over cost savings. These tires cater primarily to everyday drivers looking for a sporty feel while being mindful of their budget. If you are a performance enthusiast or someone who values longevity, it is advisable to invest in premium tires instead of budget options. Long-Term Wear Prognosis and Anticipated Lifespan Every driver knows that tire quality can greatly impact service life. When it comes to budget all season sport tires, you can expect a lifespan of around 20,000 to 40,000 miles, with a maximum usable life of about six years. These tires typically have a shorter lifespan compared to standard or premium sport tires. Budget-friendly tires are often made with a softer rubber compound and have shallower tread depths than non-sport all season tires. As a result, they tend to wear out more quickly. Consistent driving habits and aggressive handling can accelerate tread wear. Additionally, these budget tires may contain less advanced aging inhibitors, leading to quicker degradation of the rubber.  Worn-out tires also provide a weaker grip, which negatively impacts performance. Furthermore, budget tires are particularly sensitive to issues such as improper inflation, wheel alignment problems, and unbalanced wheels. These factors can significantly reduce the tire's service life. Conclusion Budget all season sport tires are designed for drivers in mild climates who occasionally encounter wet and light winter conditions. These tires are ideal for budget-conscious individuals seeking a versatile year-round option without the need for drastic seasonal changes. They are suitable for everyday commuting but not intended for extreme driving conditions. Budget tires provide affordable year-round performance, decent handling, traction, cornering, and maneuverability. However, they fall short on the extreme performance, grip, and durability typically found in higher-end models. Additionally, these tires tend to wear out more quickly, which could result in higher long-term costs. If you have the option to choose between budget and premium tires, it is always advisable to opt for the premium option. By ML Staff. Photos/Pexel

  • Top Photo Booth Trends in 2025: What’s New in Event Entertainment

You know how every party has that one thing everyone ends up crowding around? It used to be the bar. Then the dessert table. Now? It’s the photo booth. Image by Studio Romantic / Adobestock It’s kind of funny - ten years ago, a booth was just a box with a curtain. You’d step inside, make a face, maybe grab a silly prop, and that was it.  These days, they’ve turned into full-on experiences. Some look like movie sets. Others feel like you’ve stepped into a TikTok studio. I’ve been to a bunch of events this year, and honestly, the photo booths keep stealing the show. Here’s what’s new in 2025 and why they’re way more fun than they used to be. 1. The 360 trend is still going strong Remember when those spinning 360° video booths started popping up everywhere? Yeah, they’re still around, but now they’ve grown up. The new ones don’t just spin; they tell a story.  You stand on a platform, music starts playing, and the camera moves around you while you throw confetti or do a twirl. The clips look like mini music videos ready to post right away. I saw one at a wedding recently, and people were queuing for it like it was a roller coaster. The whole thing just makes everyone feel a little bit famous for 10 seconds. That’s the fun of it,  it’s not just about a photo anymore. It’s about the little performance. 2. AI is everywhere now (but in a cool way) Technology finally got involved, but not in a boring, techy way. Some booths now use AI to edit photos in real time. You can walk in, strike a pose, and walk out looking like you’re on the cover of a magazine. It’s honestly kind of addictive. At one party, the booth made every photo look like a painted portrait, and people were obsessed.  It’s easy to see why more event planners are booking this kind of photo booth rental . It gives guests something to actually do, not just stand and smile. 3. Nostalgia is back (again) While all the fancy tech is cool, there’s also this complete swing in the other direction. Old-school booths are back. You know, the ones that print those tiny film strips or Polaroid-style pictures you can hold? At a spring event downtown, I saw a vintage setup - a real photobooth service in Mississauga  - and people loved it. No filters. No editing. Just soft lighting, a click, and a photo that slowly prints out in your hand. It felt a bit like time travel. And honestly? Those pictures ended up being the ones everyone kept. 4. Booths are becoming full experiences Themed setups are the big thing right now. Instead of a flat background, you might find yourself in a mini jungle, a glowing galaxy, or a retro '90s bedroom. Some have sound effects and moving lights. I went to one event where the booth looked like an old diner. Red stools, neon signs, checkered floor, the works.  People spent ages there, not just taking photos but hanging out and laughing. It completely changed the vibe of the room. It makes sense, right? People love something they can walk into and interact with, not just stand in front of. 5. Brand events are getting smarter Corporate parties and brand launches are also changing how they use booths. Instead of plastering logos all over the photos, they’re going for subtle touches: color themes, small overlays, or branded lighting. One company I saw used a photo booth service in Vaughan to make their event photos look like lifestyle ads. Click here  to know more about that. It wasn’t “corporate” at all, and that’s why everyone shared the pictures online. It felt organic. That’s the secret: make it fun first, and the marketing happens naturally. 6. Instant sharing (without losing privacy) A lot of new booths now let guests download photos instantly with a QR code. You scan, get your image, and that’s it! No email forms or personal info needed. Some even let you delete your picture from the system after you’ve saved it. It’s a small change, but people appreciate it. Nobody wants to get spammed after a wedding because they typed in their email at the booth. The whole process feels a lot more respectful now. Image by Syda Productions / Adobestock 7. Greener setups are on the rise Another quiet trend: sustainability. Booth companies are ditching single-use props and switching to recycled materials or digital alternatives. A few even use solar-powered lighting or smaller batteries to cut energy use. And instead of printing every photo, guests can choose digital copies. You’d be surprised how many people prefer that. It’s small stuff, but over hundreds of events, it really adds up. 8. The fun part is still the people Even with all the upgrades, the real reason photo booths work is the same - people love having fun together. At a wedding I went to last month, there was nothing fancy about the booth at all. Just a curtain, a few props, and a light that made everyone look great. But people couldn’t stop laughing. You could hear it across the room. That’s what sticks with you, not the tech, but the joy. Final thoughts Every year, someone says photo booths are “over.” And every year, they somehow get even better. In 2025, they’re not just part of the decor anymore. They’re the heartbeat of the event and the part that gets people talking, sharing, and remembering. Whether you love the flashy AI stuff or the retro prints that smell faintly like ink, photo booths are here to stay. They’re not about perfection; they’re about capturing a real moment.  And that’s probably why, even with all the filters and fancy effects, the best photos are still the ones where people are laughing too hard to pose. • Girlstart Wins Inaugural Us F1® Allwyn Global Community Award

Allwyn, the multi-national lottery-led entertainment company, and Formula 1 have announced Girlstart as the first US winner of the F1 ® Allwyn Global Community Award and recipient of a €100,000 donation (equivalent to over $117,000). The donation, courtesy of Allwyn, will be used to further Girlstart’s positive work in the local community by introducing STEM careers to girls who have been historically marginalised. Headquartered in US tech hub Austin - home of the FORMULA 1 ® MSC CRUISES UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX 2025 - Girlstart is a national organisation empowering girls to explore STEM. It offers engaging out of school programmes, led by inspiring all-female staff and mentors, designed to help girls pursue their dreams regardless of ethnicity or background. Women remain under-represented in STEM careers, making up just 34% of college-educated STEM workers, with less than 10% of those positions held by women of colour.* Girlstart reaches over 1,800 girls aged 9-14 in Texas alone every year, through hands-on STEM camps, conferences and activities. It has worked with F1 for a number of years to bring STEM to life for girls in Austin through exciting experiences - from robot coding sessions to behind-the-scenes access to race tech, engineers and drivers at the F1 Circuit of the Americas. This race weekend, Girlstart will be at the circuit for a day of STEM-related activities and mentorship, including programmes such as trophy design - which will see them create custom F1 trophies to be judged and awarded by drivers - as well as an on-track relay race where girls can run alongside other athletes and engineers. Over the next 12 months, the donation from Allwyn will enable Girlstart to support its ambitious activities including 33 weekly hands-on STEM after school programmes, 16 week-long summer camps and the Austin Girls in STEM conference, which will reach more than 1,250 girls in Central Texas. The F1 ® Allwyn Global Community Award, launched this year as part of the multi-year partnership between F1 and Allwyn, reflects a shared commitment to driving positive change and giving back to the communities in which they operate. During the 2025 season, a total of four F1-linked local initiatives making a positive impact in their countries - which could include advancements in education, culture, wellbeing and sustainability - will be chosen by judges to each win a €100,000 donation from Allwyn. At Allwyn, we champion those who take chances - but we understand it’s much easier to pursue your dreams if you have the skills and confidence to succeed, as well as opportunities and role models to inspire you. Girlstart does this brilliantly and I’m delighted to be helping them empower even more young girls within the Austin community and beyond.” Ellen Jones, Head of ESG at Formula 1, said: “At Formula 1, we are driven by a constant ambition to inspire the next generation and open access to our sport. Girlstart is a great initiative that both inspires young women interested in STEM subjects, and gives them access to pursue their dreams, so we’re delighted they have won the F1 Allwyn Global Community Award. Their commitment will have a profound effect on many of the young girls they support by helping them towards a career in STEM and motorsport.” F1 ® Allwyn Global Community Award winner, Shane Woods, Girlstart, said : “We envision a future where any girl believes they have the potential to change the world through STEM and F1 has been a huge support for our work here in Austin. Allwyn’s donation will make such a difference, ensuring we have the necessary supplies, staff and training to expand our programme over the next year and increase the number of girls we can inspire for the future.” By ML Staff. Sekeres will serve a four-year term as councillor beginning after the 2025 ASH Annual Meeting, Dec. 6–9 in Orlando, Florida. “It’s an incredible honor to serve alongside colleagues who are shaping the future of hematology,” Sekeres said. “ASH has long stood at the forefront of scientific rigor, clinical excellence, and advocacy for patients with blood disorders. I look forward to helping strengthen that mission in the years ahead and serving the needs of ASH and hematologists worldwide.” At Sylvester, Sekeres leads an internationally recognized program focused on myelodysplastic syndromes and acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in older adults. He has been an ASH member since 2002 and currently chairs the Society’s Older Adults with AML Treatment Guidelines Panel. He previously chaired the Committee on Communications and served as founding editor-in-chief of ASH Clinical News , which became one of the field’s most widely read publications. Also elected to the Executive Committee were Alison Loren, M.D., M.S.C.E., chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, who will serve as vice president, and Adam Cuker, M.D., M.S., professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, who will serve as councillor. “Drs. Loren, Cuker, and Sekeres will help shape the future of hematology at a time when the basic underpinnings of science and medicine are under threat. They are leaders in their respective fields and will bring their unique perspectives and insights to ASH,” said 2025 ASH President, Belinda Avalos, M.D. “With their dedication, ASH will continue to fight for the future of hematology and drive meaningful change for patients with blood disorders worldwide.”  Read more about Sylvester research on the InventUM blog and follow @SylvesterCancer on X for the latest news on its research and care.
