In January 2021, the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA) will launch “Art on the Plaza,” a year-long series of newly commissioned, temporary public artworks by Miami-based artists on MOCA Plaza. Featured artists include: Reginald O’Neal, Studio AMLgMATD (Laz Ojalde and Natalie Zlamalova), a collaborative presentation by Morel Doucet and Stephen Arboite, Nice N’ Easy (Allison Matherly & Jeffrey Noble) and Najja Moon. The museum will host a series of virtual programs to coincide with the art installations throughout the year. 2021 schedule Jan. 22-March 7: Miami-based artist Reginald O’Neal will showcase a detailed mural depicting his cultural heritage and narratives relating to Miami’s Historic Overtown neighborhood, in a powerful depiction of past and present. March 19-April 18: Collaborative Studio AMLgMATD will present a large-scale intervention on MOCA Plaza. Red thread will create an allegory to the interconnections in global networks as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic, and draws symbolic connections to the color red among various cultures. April 30-June 27: Artists Morel Doucet and Stephen Arboite will showcase a collaborative work that explores Miami’s historically African American neighborhoods. It highlights the specific flora and fauna in those neighborhoods, highlighting issues of gentrification and celebrating the uniqueness and beauty of the African diaspora in a series of banners on MOCA Plaza, based on original artworks. This installation will coincide with Haitian Heritage Month. July 9-August 22: Collaborative Nice N’ Easy will playfully activate MOCA’s fountain, transforming it into a swimming pool. The work addresses the prevalent issues of anxiety, concern for safety, and well-being as it relates to the global COVID-19 pandemic. September 3-November 14 : Artist Najja Moon will explore themes of reflection and self-empowerment through a dynamic sculptural intervention resembling a large-scale mirror on MOCA Plaza. The work will encourage viewers to experience it from multiple viewpoints, see themselves reflected, and experience intricate shadows. The program is made possible with major support from the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). Amanda Sanfilippo Long, who currently serves as Curator & Artist Manager for the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Art in Public Places program, is organizing the program. “I am honored and excited to partner with MOCA to host these art programs on the plaza,” said Sanfilippo Long. “‘Art on the Plaza’ brings imaginative contemporary art exhibitions and programming to a wide range of audiences, while bringing diverse cultural and thought-provoking subjects to the forefront.” “With ‘Art on the Plaza,’ MOCA will offer a boost of creative energy accessible to visitors and passersby. We are so pleased to commission and support Miami-based artists for these temporary installations while presenting at for large and diverse audiences to see,” said MOCA Executive Director Chana Budgazad Sheldon. - Alexander McQueen Opens a Flagship Store in the Miami Design District
Alexander McQueen opens a flagship store in the Miami Design District, following the new design concept for the house, conceived by creative director Sarah Burton in collaboration with the architect Smiljan Radic. Truly a distinctive world, the store is home to women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories and the interior is populated by McQueen clad mannequins interacting throughout the environment and referencing the narrative of the runway collections. The client is invited on a journey through this universe, fully immersed in it. The product is the protagonist, seen from all sides and up close. Drawing on a fascination with nature that underpins the core values of the house of Alexander McQueen, the main material employed is wood: oak and walnut, light and dark. This appears on floors and walls, intricately engineered to the space, with seams barely visible, knitted together, echoing the signatures central to the Alexander McQueen name. Traditional techniques upholding the Alexander McQueen values of uncompromising craftsmanship and the touch of the hand are combined with visionary design and innovation. Glass cylinders pierce the interior, connecting storeys and introducing reflection and light. Experimentation is prized: a new cladding – ‘cotton- crete’ – a cotton-based papier mâché, has been developed for the space. The tension between the raw and the re ned, the contemporary and the traditional that characterizes the house of Alexander McQueen is omnipresent. The store is located in the Miami Design District, 146 NE 41st Street, Miami FL 33137. For more info visit www.alexandermcqueen.com By ML Staff. Images courtesy of Alexander McQueen

- Rossinavi Launches 70M Ice-Class Superyacht Polaris
Italian shipyard Rossinavi has presented in their facility of Viareggio its latest superyacht, Polaris, a 70-metre vessel, the largest built by the yard and able to navigate in extreme ice conditions, including the polar areas. Commissioned by a private client and previously known as Project King Shark, Polaris is a 1,542GT motor yacht developed with an emphasis on yachting lifestyle, able to move from the warm waters of the Caribbean to the sub-zero conditions. Venice-based architecture and design practice Enrico Gobbi – Team for Design, a longstanding collaborator of Rossinavi’s, is responsible for the interior styling and exterior design of Polaris. Key design features Owner’s deck with a private terrace crowned by a surrounding waterfall, which gives zen vibes. 6m-long infinity pool located aft on the main deck, equipped with a whirlpool system. Ample storage space that can accommodate up to six jet skis and two tenders, including a 10m full-custom limousine tender in-house built by Rossinavi. Indoor waterfall that flows over a back-lighted onyx wall in the main salon. Soundproof cinema room in the main deck surrounded by wall dividers covered with precious crystal staves. Wellness centre, which includes a fully equipped gym, a sauna, a hammam, a massage room, yoga area, etc. It is highly unusual for boats in the Ice Class category to have an elegant exterior appearance. With this in mind, Polaris is positioned advantageously to favour the exploration of unusual and exciting natural environments, such as Polar Regions, without sacrificing sophisticated design or comfort. Polaris also features the latest diesel-electric propulsion. This is of note because the onboard power management allows to valorise the fuel consumptions, giving advantages in terms of performance and emissions. Another worth-mentioning onboard technology is the Satellite Dynamic System that allows the positioning for ‘dynamic anchoring’ wherever needed, even in extreme weather scenarios. “The neat and elegant shapes of the yacht are underlined by long, continuous black window surfaces with curved details that soften up and characterise the overall cleanness of the superstructure. Our aim here was to open up the interiors towards the exterior, ensuring an ongoing view of the sea through the decks. This was achieved not by creating huge invasive openings but by instead designing refined, long and slender windows with which we were able to achieve the same goal,” says Enrico Gobbi of Enrico Gobbi – Team for Design. The interior design, developed in collaboration with Carlo Lionetti, co-director of Team for Design, is contemporary and enriched by eclectic hints inspired by the client’s personal taste, which include precious coating materials that characterise all areas, along with refined details, prestigious textiles and loose furniture items sourced from high end international brands, bestowing on the whole interior a luxurious and distinctive, yet warm and welcoming, atmosphere. “After four years under construction, we are extremely proud to present this grand superyacht. Polaris is a 70m vessel where our construction skills and technical know-how are perfectly combined. The complexity of this project required a very specific phased approach thanks to the skills we have acquired. Polaris features diesel-electric propulsion and structural ice certification. It is also able to house a full custom limo tender, entirely built in our shipyard. Polaris is the masterpiece where lines and elegance boasts the harmony typical of a modern yacht,” says Federico Rossi, Chief Operating Officer of Rossinavi. By ML Staff. Images courtesy of Rossinavi

A diverse group of nationally recognized, award-winning playwrights Hilary Bettis, Nilo Cruz, Moisés Kaufman, Rogelio Martinez, Dael Orlandersmith, Carmen Pelaez and Aurin Squire will premiere seven newly commissioned short plays, each focused on one deadly sin: Lust, Greed, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Gluttony and Pride. In rotation over 90 minutes, small groups of theatergoers will maintain social distance, listening through headphones while actors perform the short plays safely behind the windows of the transformed Lincoln Road storefronts. 7 Deadly Sins - Temptation in the Magic City, created with the support of the Lincoln Rd Business Improvement District (LRBID) and Mayor of Miami Beach Dan Gelber, finds an innovative approach to bring audiences and live performances back to one of the world’s most famous commercial and pedestrian thoroughfares. Miami New Drama is also working with the LRBID on additional restaurant and retail partnerships to bolster the complete cultural and commercial reactivation of Lincoln Road, and is currently awaiting Actors’ Equity approval of this unique approach to artist safety. “This pandemic has shown in stark light the fragility of our world,” commented Miami New Drama Artistic Director Michel Hausmann. “But theatre has survived for thousands of years and through many world catastrophes. We must find new ways to present live theater until we can gather indoors again, and 7 Deadly Sins is a safe, socially responsible way forward. We are also thrilled to work with these seven superb playwrights and to bring much needed life back to Miami Beach’s great Lincoln Road.” “Miami New Drama is one of our street’s most vibrant arts organizations, so we are excited that they are bringing this visionary production to Lincoln Road, the civic and cultural hub of Miami Beach,” said Steve Gombinski, President of the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District. “Lincoln Road is a world-famous landmark of Miami Beach,” remarked Dan Gelber, Mayor of Miami Beach. “Miami New Drama continues to raise the bar, and a return to live performance in such an innovative way not only benefits the street's cultural life. Never have the Seven Deadly Sins been more welcome.” Founded by Michel Hausmann and Moises Kaufman, Miami New Drama is a nonprofit professional theater company committed to artistic excellence and groundbreaking new work, unique to the diverse and extraordinary city of Miami, with a vision of theater as a powerful form of social engagement. - UpsideHōM Offers a New Approach to Senior Living
In less than a year, UpsideHōM has created a brand new category of senior living without laying a single brick. As the only fully managed living option for older adults, the company has established itself within South Florida’s “Silver Valley” since its launch in early 2020 – timed with the start of a pandemic that has plagued senior living facilities. Offering a new solution within the industry, UpsideHōM plans to expand to Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville by summer 2021. “There is a lack of sustainable and viable options for seniors who are recent empty-nesters and do not yet require full-time care. This is where we come in, offering a community of like-minded people who live in close proximity,” said Jake Rothstein, UpsideHōM founder and CEO. “We secure apartments that are geographically clustered around popular city hubs; in turn, creating a distributed senior living community in disguise. Ninety percent of seniors want to age in place and we’re now offering them the opportunity to do so.” An entirely new approach to senior living, the South Florida-based company utilizes vibrant, amenity- rich apartment communities and offers turn-key modern units for individualized aging – as opposed to a communal senior living facility. UpsideHōM members gain access to a variety of resources including one- bill simplicity for water, electric, cable and Internet; regular housekeeping; dedicated concierge team; optional companion visits; fresh chef-prepared meals; grocery delivery; laundry and dry cleaning; transportation; virtual and in-person learning; fitness programming and more. Deconstructing senior living, UpsideHōM offers individual or social units for up to 70 percent less than the cost of traditional independent senior living. Residents are provided with an end-to-end experience that enables them to “age in proximity” – providing resources that would not be available in a traditional apartment building while serving as an alternative to senior living facilities for those who are hesitant of the challenges those communities often face. UpsideHōMs are now available in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Interested senior citizens and their families can reserve HōMs in their desired locations at upsidehom.com. MORE ON UpsideHōM UpsideHōM was founded on a simple premise – to enhance the quality of life for all people in their golden years. We are doing so by building the first and only fully managed living option for older adults in the nation. Because life is better together. Learn more at www.upsidehom.com. By ML Staff. - Thai Craft Beer Meets Asian Cuisine with American BBQ Influence at Brickell City Centre
EST. 33 Thai Craft Brewery and Kitchen will open its doors on January 29, 2021, offering a new dining experience inspired by a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western cultures and the confluence of heritage and innovation. Located on the fourth floor of Brickell City Centre, the new restaurant features an extensive covered outdoor patio, bar and seven fermentation vessels in addition to seven serving tanks in its brewery housed in the interior of the restaurant. Boon Rawd Brewery Company Limited, which produces Singha and Leo beers, is the first-ever and still number one brewer in Thailand and is excited to bring the EST. 33 concept to Miami, the first opening outside of its home market. The name EST. 33 is an homage to the start-up of the company’s brewery in Bangkok in 1933. Inspired by the flavors, aromas and tastes of Thailand, EST. 33 features premium local and imported ingredients for a medley of exciting flavor combinations on a journey to becoming the next favorite of local craft brews. EST. 33’s most prized pints include The Legend Lager ($7), favored in Thailand for its golden body, it's a refreshing blend of malted barley and noble hops from Europe, perfect for humid climates; The One and Only Kopper ($7), EST. 33’s proud take on the Vienna-style lager, with intense caramel notes that emulate Kalamay, a traditional sticky coconut rice delicacy; The Aromatic Snowy ($7), a summer wheat beer brewed with fresh orange peels and coriander seeds, which develop into an invigorating and complex combination of vanilla and pepper notes; and specialty malts in The 33 Pale Ale ($7) balance the bitter-citrus character of the American Cascade hops featured in this brew, resulting in notes of lime and passion fruit. All craft beers can also be tasted in flights and the original Singha will be available in bottles and draught form. “Our craft beers celebrate time-honored Thai traditions and the tropical influences of Miami,” said EST. 33’s Head Brewer Todd Space. “Clean taste, exciting combinations and intensity are also hallmarks of our food and reflected in the beer recipes we have developed.” In the kitchen, Asian flavors meet the distinctive techniques of American barbecue. The unique and exotic ingredients and spices characteristic of Asian cuisines are further developed and deepened by the heat of a barbecue grill and large smoker fueled by hickory wood to invoke aromatic dishes showcasing bold yet approachable flavors. Harmoniously blending bursts of salty, spicy, sour and sweet with smoky, acidic and savory, EST. 33’s quintessential menu perfectly complements the restaurant’s craft beers brewed on premise. The grilled menu features two-piece skewers including Chicken Satay ($12) served with tamarind peanut jam; Duck Breast ($18) with a sweet sesame teriyaki; Scallops ($19) with a green curry coconut glaze; and Corn with Thai basil chimichurri ($9). The smoked menu, which is served with steamed buns, features Beer Brined Pork Shoulder ($14), Char Siu Pork Ribs ($11 half / $20 whole), Thai Lemongrass Chicken ($14 half / $26 whole) and Thai Spice-Rubbed Beef Brisket ($18). Appetizers include bites such as Beef Jerky ($12) topped with sweet and sour pickles; Crispy Shrimp Pot Stickers ($14) with cabbage, green onion and cilantro; and Thai Spice Crab Cake Croquetas ($14), with coconut lime dressing. Guests will find staples such as Papaya Salad, Pad Thai and Fried Rice, which can be ordered with vegetables, chicken or smoked meats. The menu also has a not-to-be-missed selection of grilled vegetables including Broccoli Slaw ($8) with sweet chili lime; Cauliflower ($12) with tamarind peanut jam; Smoked Brussels Sprouts ($10) with sweet sesame teriyaki and Grilled Cabbage ($11) with massaman tomato rub. The cuisine is dietary-inclusive with options for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-sensitivities. The interior’s industrial design juxtaposes lush greenery and natural elements further enhanced by tall ceilings and ample natural light to create a vibrant yet warm atmosphere. The brewery is the visual focal point of the restaurant as guests are greeted by the impressive brew tanks showcasing the inner workings and authenticity of the restaurant’s craft beers. Drawing inspiration from the golden and amber brews, hints of gold, metal, rope and aged brick and glass are seamlessly incorporated into the unique design. Another focal point is the exhibition kitchen where guests can watch the culinary team in action while enjoying an intimate look at the masterfully crafted dishes. EST. 33 features 93 seats nestled indoors and an expansive covered outdoor patio with 62 seats overlooking Brickell City Centre’s atrium. - New U.S. COVID-19 Air Travel Rules
If you plan to travel internationally, you will need to get tested no more than 3 days before you travel by air into the United States (US) and show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight, or be prepared to show documentation of recovery (proof of a recent positive viral test and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel). On January 12, 2021, CDC issued an Order requiring all air passengers arriving to the US from a foreign country to get tested no more than 3 days before their flight departs and to present the negative result or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 to the airline before boarding the flight. Air passengers will also be required to confirm that the information they present is true in the form of an attestation. This Order is effective as of 12:01am EST (5:01am GMT) on January 26, 2021. After You Travel Get tested 3-5 days after travel AND stay home for 7 days after travel. Even if you test negative, stay home for the full 7 days. If your test is positive, isolate yourself to protect others from getting infected. If you don’t get tested, it’s safest to stay home for 10 days after travel. Avoid being around people who are at increased risk for severe illness for 14 days, whether you get tested or not. Always follow state and local recommendations or requirements related to travel. Frequently Asked Questions Does this requirement apply to US citizens? This Order applies to all air passengers, 2 years of age or older, traveling into the US, including US citizens and legal permanent residents. Are foreign nationals no longer subject to Presidential Proclamation travel restrictions if they can show a negative test or documentation of recovery? The CDC order does not replace the Presidential proclamations. Therefore, a negative test result for COVID-19 or documentation of having recovered from COVID-19 to the airline before boarding the flight does not exempt a foreign national from the travel restrictions outlined in the Presidential proclamations. With specific exceptions, several Presidential proclamations suspend and limit entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, all aliens who were physically present within specific countries during the 14-day period preceding their entry or attempted entry into the United States. For a full list of countries and links to the proclamations on the White House website, visit Travelers Prohibited from Entry to the United States. Are territories or possessions of the US considered foreign countries for the purposes of this Order? No, the Order to present a documentation of a negative COVID-19 test or recovery from COVID-19 does not apply to air passengers flying from a US territory or possession to a US state. US territories and possessions of the US include American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. When does this order take effect? This Order will go into effect on January 26, 2021. What is an attestation? An attestation is a statement, writing, entry, or other representation under 18 U.S.C. § 1001 that confirms that the information provided is true. Does this Order apply to land border crossings? No, the requirements of this Order only apply to air travel into the US. Who is checking to make sure that people have a negative test or documentation of recovery before they board a plane to the US? The airline will confirm a COVID-19 negative test result or documentation of recovery for all passengers before boarding. Will CDC provide information about international testing locations? CDC is unable to provide information about locations and availability of testing in other countries. Check COVID-19 Country Specific Informationexternal icon for information on how and where to get tested in the country from which you are traveling or contact local authorities in that country. Does an at home test qualify? The Order requires a lab report to be presented to the airline or to public health officials upon request. A home specimen collection kit that is tested in a laboratory should meet the requirements, if such methods have been approved by the country’s national health authorities. What is a verifiable test result? A verifiable test result must be in the form of written documentation (paper or electronic copy) of a laboratory test result. Testing must be performed using a viral test (NAAT or antigen), and negative results must be presented to the airline prior to boarding. The test result documentation must include information that identifies the person, a specimen collection date and the type of test. A negative test result must show test was done within the 3 days before the flight. A positive test result must show the test was done within the 3 months before the flight. Passengers What if I have had a COVID-19 vaccine or have tested positive for antibodies? Do I still need a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of recovery from COVID-19? Yes, at this time all air passengers traveling to the US, regardless of vaccination or antibody status, are required to provide a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery. When do I need to get a test to travel to the US and what kind of test do I need? Get tested no more than 3 days before your flight to the US departs. Make sure to be tested with a viral test (NAAT or antigen test) to determine if you are currently infected with COVID-19. Also make sure that you receive your results before your flight departs and have documentation of your results to show the airline. Do state and local governments in the US have separate testing requirements for air passengers? Federal testing requirements must be met to board a plane to the US. Some state and local governments may have similar or more restrictive testing requirements for air passengers arriving in their jurisdictions. Always check and follow state and local recommendations or requirements related to travel in addition to federal requirements. Do I still need a test if my trip is shorter than 3 days? Yes, you will still need a test if your trip is shorter than 3 days. A viral test done in the US can be used to fulfill the requirements of the Order as long as the specimen was taken no more than 3 days before your return flight departs. If your return travel is delayed longer than 3 days after your test, you will need to be retested before your return flight. What if I recently recovered from COVID-19? CDC does not recommend getting tested again in the three months after a positive viral test, as long as you do not have symptoms of COVID-19. If you have had a positive viral test in the past 3 months, and you have met the criteria to end isolation, you may travel instead with documentation of your positive viral test results and a letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official that states you have been cleared for travel. The positive test result and letter together are referred to as “documentation of recovery.” A letter from your healthcare provider or a public health official that clears you to end isolation, e.g., to return to work or school, can be used to show you are cleared to travel, even if travel isn’t specifically mentioned in the letter. What happens if I don’t take a test and want to travel to the US? Air passengers traveling to the US are required to present a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery. Airlines must confirm the negative test result or documentation of recovery for all passengers before boarding. If a passenger chooses not to present a test result or documentation of recovery, the airline must deny boarding to the passenger. What happens if I test positive? People should self-isolate and delay their travel if symptoms develop or a pre-departure test result is positive until they have recovered from COVID-19. Airlines must refuse to board anyone who does not present a negative test result for COVID-19 or documentation of recovery. What kind of documentation of my test result do I need to present? CDC requires that air passengers arriving in the US have a paper or electronic copy of their test result for review by the airline before you board and for potential review by public health officials after you arrive in the US. Do passengers also need to have a copy of their attestation as well as the airline retaining it? Passengers are only required to retain a paper or electronic copy of their negative test result or documentation of recovery for the entirety of their itinerary. The attestation should be submitted to and retained by the airline or aircraft operator. What happens if my flight is delayed and it goes over the 3-day limit for testing? If your flight is delayed before departure, you will need to get re-tested if the delay causes your test to fall outside of the 3-day pre-departure testing period requirement. If I am connecting through the US to another country, do I still need to get tested? Yes. Any flight entering the US, even for a connection, will require testing before departure. If I have one or more connecting flights to the US, does the 3-day period apply to the first flight or the last one? If you are arriving on a direct flight to the US, your test must be done within the 3 days before your flight to the US departs. If you are arriving to the US via one or more connecting flights, your test must be done in the 3 days before the first flight in your itinerary, but only if the connecting flights were booked as a single passenger record with a final destination in the US and each connection (layover) is no longer than 24 hours long. If your connecting flight to the US was booked separately or a connection in your itinerary lasts longer than 24 hours, you will need to get tested within the 3 days before your flight that arrives in the US. If I tested negative before my flight, do I need to get another test when I get to the US? CDC recommends that travelers get tested 3-5 days after travel AND stay home or otherwise self-quarantine for 7 days after travel. Even if you test negative, stay home for the full 7 days. If you don’t get tested, it’s safest to stay home for 10 days. Always follow state and local recommendations or requirements related to travel. All travelers (including those who have recovered from COVID-19) should remember to wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet apart from people who are not in your household, and wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after blowing their nose, coughing, or sneezing and before eating. Travelers should look for symptoms of COVID-19, and take your temperature if you feel sick. Anyone sick with symptoms of COVID-19 should self-isolate and delay further travel. For more information, visit After You Travel Internationally Do I need to get a test before leaving the US? At this time, CDC does not have a testing requirement for outbound travelers, but recommends that you get tested with a viral test (NAAT or antigen) 1-3 days before you travel internationally. Travelers should check with international destinations for their entry requirements. What is the justification for letting people who recently recovered from COVID-19 travel without a negative test? What about reinfections? People who have recovered from COVID-19 can continue to test positive for up to 3 months after their infection. CDC does not recommended retesting within 3 months after a person with COVID-19 first developed symptoms (or the date of their first positive viral diagnostic test if their infection was asymptomatic). Even if they have recovered from COVID-19, people who develop symptoms of COVID-19 should not travel and should seek care for testing and evaluation. This guidance may be updated as additional information about people who have recovered from COVID-19 becomes available. Can CDC help me get a refund for travel expenses if I have to cancel or delay travel because of testing requirements for air passengers flying to the US? CDC does not reimburse and is unable to help travelers get reimbursements for travel expenses as a result of canceled or delayed travel because of COVID-19 or testing requirements for air passengers flying to the US. While some companies may base their policies on CDC’s travel recommendations or requirements, each company establishes its own refund policies. In some cases, trip cancellation insurance can protect your financial investment in a trip if you need to change your itinerary in the event of an international outbreak. Visit CDC’s Travelers’ Health website if you would like to learn more about travel insurance, including trip cancellation insurance. Will CDC reimburse me for the cost of a COVID-19 test? CDC is not able to reimburse travelers for COVID-19 testing fees. You may wish to contact your insurance provider or the location that provided your test about payment options. My ML Staff.
