  • Gucci Collaborates with Detroit designer Tommey Walker and his homegrown label Detroit vs. Everybody

Gucci, through its social impact initiative Gucci Changemakers, is pleased to announce a collaboration with Detroit designer Tommey Walker and his homegrown label DETROIT VS. EVERYBODY on a special line-up of T-shirts with a donation benefiting non-profit organizations. A simple concept with a powerful message, the VS. EVERYBODY slogan embodies the fiercely independent and unapologetic spirit of Detroit. It is this resiliency that has allowed the city to resurrect and revitalize itself while breaking cultural and social barriers along the way. It is this creative spirit and vision that has deeply resonated with Gucci. Intertwining Italian craftsmanship and Detroit’s industrialist savoir-faire, the collaboration uses Gucci’s fabric and raw materials and the VS. EVERYBODY graphic to underscore the likeminded creative vision and brand ideals that the House and Tommey Walker’s label are intrinsically known for. Tommey’s signature DETROIT VS. EVERYBODY logo is revamped to celebrate the Gucci Changemaker’s 11 US focus cities, first identified in 2019 for the launch of the program, which includes Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. In its third year, Gucci Changemakers provides donations to non-profits within the 11 cities which support social change and help to build strong connections and opportunities within communities of color. To celebrate Gucci Changemakers’ commitment to fuel community engagement and positive social change, a donation will be made to the 2020 and recently announced 2021 Gucci Changemakers North America Impact Fund winners. These local non-profit organizations are focused on key social impact areas including social justice and equity; arts and culture; health equity and wellness; and education. Aligning our social good and brand engagement strategies and continuing to support these organizations and communities, the partnership with Tommey Walker will be the first time Gucci has introduced a product collaboration under the Changemakers umbrella. Tommey Walker says, “My partnership with Gucci is a dream come true, not just for me and my team, but also for celebrating the city of Detroit’s cultural richness and innovation. I’ve long admired the creative genius that is Alessandro Michele and am honored and humbled that Gucci respects my work. DETROIT VS. EVERYBODY and Gucci share the same unifying ethos, to bring people together for a greater good and to transform a feeling into a cultural moment.” Alessandro Michele’s designs have captured a cultural sensibility that has resonated with a generation. Using fashion and design as a tool of empowerment, this partnership aims to lead the charge in the fight for meaningful change. For the first time under the Changemakers umbrella, Gucci has created a capsule collection that uses fashion through the means of creating social good. To support the project, Gucci partnered with a local Detroit production house to create a video anthem highlighting Tommey’s story and the power of the VS. EVERYBODY brand. The video showcases the Detroit community and local changemakers such as Bakpak Durden, a mural artist who created a custom painting depicting the partnership. Additionally, to further amplify Tommey’s story, activist and educator Brittany Packnett will be featured in conversation with Tommey Walker for Gucci’s Podcast channel. Retailing for $390 USD, each of Gucci’s flagship boutiques in the 11 US Changemaker cities will exclusively carry their city’s T-shirt in limited quantities, while the full offering will be available on Gucci.com in the United States beginning on March 1st. To honor Tommey’s hometown, Gucci will release a special-edition GUCCI VS. EVERYBODY T-shirt, marrying the creative identities together, available exclusively in Detroit at the Troy Somerset Collection Gucci store. Learn more at ChangemakersUs.Gucci.com By ML Staff. • Light The Night 2021: Artworks Created by South Florida Artists

Broward Cultural Division will “Light the Night” March 1-7 by projecting artwork created by South Florida artists on three buildings in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Innovative displays will be projected following sunset onto the facades of NSU Art Museum, Broward County Government Center and Society Las Olas. Featuring newly commissioned projection mapping videos by Agustina Woodgate, Jen Clay, Edison Peñafiel and Monica Lopez de Victoria, Light the Night’s nightly activations of light, color and motion – some spanning 10 stories high – will be displayed March 1-7 weeknights from 7-10pm and the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from 7-11pm. Projection mapping, also known as video mapping, is a technology that uses a physical space or object as a surface for a projection rather than a conventional screen. The pieces produced are then masked to a specific surface, a process that gives the projection architectural dimensionality. This art initiative is presented by Broward Cultural Division and executed by MAD and curator Sofia Bastidas Vivar. Free and available to the public by vehicle, bicycle or walking, attendees must maintain social distancing measures and wear a mask. The three buildings are all within walking distance from each other, with different artworks displayed on the three buildings which will be activated from nightly March 1-7 weeknights from 7-10pm and the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) from 7-11pm. • A Look at Koenigsegg’s Trevita: Shine Bright Like a Diamond

“Trevita” is a Swedish abbreviation that translates into “three whites.” The Koenigsegg visible carbon weave bodywork is renowned around the globe for its uniqueness and perfection. Prior to the Trevita, car manufacturers only had access to traditional black carbon fibers. Koenigsegg developed a unique coated fiber solution for the Trevita program that transformed the fibers from black to a sparkling, silvery white. When sunlight hits the Trevita, it sparkles as if millions of tiny white diamonds are infused inside the visible carbon fiber bodywork. The Trevita features a unique double carbon rear wing, inconel exhaust system, carbon ceramic brakes with ABS, airbags, paddle-shift, chrono instrument cluster, infotainment system, tire monitoring system, and a hydraulic lifting system. The Trevita was originally intended to be a limited edition of three examples, however, the white carbon fiber used for the Trevita made the car extremely difficult and time-consuming to manufacture, so they decided to make the car even more exclusive and limit the number of Trevitas to two. The Trevita is available for $4.8 million. Click below to launch slideshow > Performance Acceleration: 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) 2.9 seconds 0-200 km/h 8.75 sec. 0-200-0 km/h 13.55 sec. • Chairman of Limestone Asset Management Purchases Waterfront Estate on Hibiscus Island for $6 Million

Ibrahim Al-Rashid, chairman of Limestone Asset Management, an affiliate of Orion Real Estate Group, closed on the waterfront estate at 184 S. Hibiscus Dr. in Miami Beach for $6 million. Jeffrey Fields of ONE Sotheby's International Realty in Coral Gables represented Al-Rashid in the off-market transaction. The property at 184 Hibiscus Dr. is two doors east of Al-Rashid’s current Hibiscus Island home, his primary residence where he resides with his family. In September 2020, he purchased 190 S. Hibiscus Dr., the property located directly east of his current home, for $6.29 million. His long-term plan is to demolish the home at 184 S. Hibiscus Dr. to add to the existing architecture and profile of his current property, and demolish the home at 190 S. Hibiscus Dr. to add more green space to his current property. The purchase of 184 S. Hibiscus will add 60 linear feet of waterfront to his property, bringing the total waterfront on the property to 300 continuous feet. The three properties combined are equivalent to five single lots ― a rare 1.25 acres on Miami Beach. Al-Rashid’s current property sits on the fabled Rod and Reel Club of Miami Beach. The architect for Al-Rashid’s original property on the island, Cesar Molina, founding principal of the acclaimed CMA Design Studio Inc., will design the addition at 184 S. Hibiscus Dr. “My family and I are deeply rooted to the beauty of Hibiscus Island and the peaceful waterfront lifestyle it provides,” said Al-Rashid, a Miami resident and graduate of the University of Miami. “We are pleased to have added two additional properties on the east side our home in a few short months, allowing us to expand by building additional structures, as well as adding beautiful green space. “Thanks to its association and public park, Hibiscus Island offers a neighborhood feel that many luxury islands on Miami Beach don’t,” he continued. “Situated between downtown Miami and Miami Beach, Palm & Hibiscus Islands provide a lavish lifestyle and offer Miami Beach police security, a park, basketball, tennis courts and water,” said Fields. “The market for these islands is very hot at a time when people are spending more time at home, and want to immerse themselves in the beauty of these prestigious yet welcoming settings.” Hibiscus Island, considered one of the most exclusive residential areas in Miami Beach, is located on a man-made island. It can be accessed from the MacArthur Causeway, and is home to several multi-million dollar mansions and high-end converted condominiums and apartments. Offering a wealth of history, the island’s waterfront homes are timeless masterpieces. It is only minutes from South Beach, downtown Miami, and Miami International Airport. The Miami-based company uses Orion Real Estate Group's expertise to complete all North America-based transactions. By ML Staff. Image by Limestone Asset Management
