During this arduous process, they often find themselves lost without the support and understanding of a benefactor. That is where the mission and purpose of Patrons of Exceptional Artists comes in, an organization that, for the last 25 years, has brought the talent of countless deserving pianists to the attention of the public, conductors, and agents. Many of our artists are now in the international circuit, represented by top management. To enrich its mission, in 1998, Patrons of Exceptional Artists branched out to create the now-celebrated Miami International Piano Festivals and Academy, where students experience the hands-on immersion of working closely with an outstanding international faculty. In the winter, the MIPFA takes place at the beautiful Cadet Hotel in Miami Beach, and in the summer at the Gustav Mahler Cultural Center in Dobbiaco, Italy, a gateway to the Dolomites, about which Mahler wrote, “Dobbiaco is extraordinary: it tempers your body and soul.” We have also expanded our outreach through an online state-of-the-art virtual platform that continues to evolve, creating an archive and visual library of all MIPF activities. The goal is to provide global exposure to our artists while allowing music lovers worldwide to enjoy our concerts, lectures, and masterclasses. The Miami International Piano Festival concerts are interactive experiences that engage our audiences and enhance their appreciation of music in its infinite prism of ideas and emotions. Giselle Brodsky, founder and artistic director of Patrons of Exceptional Artists, spends hundreds of hours listening to innumerable performances of hopeful applicants to select artists who, with their passion and commitment to the expression of music, will inspire and be inspired by our faculty, students, and audience. - The Essential Role of Commercial Freezers in Maintaining Food Quality at Restaurants
In the fast-paced world of restaurants, food quality is everything. A great dining experience hinges on the freshness and taste of ingredients, which makes proper food storage a top priority. Among the many tools available to restaurant owners, commercial freezers stand out as indispensable for preserving food quality, preventing waste, and ensuring food safety. Commercial freezers are more than just a place to store food. They act as guardians of freshness, locking in flavors and nutrients that are essential for high-quality meals. This article explores the critical role of commercial freezers in restaurants, shedding light on how they contribute to food quality and overall kitchen efficiency. Why Food Storage Matters in the Restaurant Business For restaurants, food storage is not just a logistical necessity; it’s a cornerstone of their reputation. Poorly stored food can compromise taste, texture, and safety, leading to dissatisfied customers and potential health risks. This is why restaurants rely heavily on proper refrigeration and freezing techniques to maintain the integrity of their ingredients. Unlike residential freezers, commercial freezers are designed to handle the rigorous demands of the foodservice industry. They offer larger storage capacities, faster cooling times, and enhanced temperature control. By maintaining optimal freezing conditions, they help extend the shelf life of perishable items without compromising their quality. The Technology Behind High-Quality Commercial Freezers Modern commercial freezers are equipped with advanced technology to ensure consistent temperatures and energy efficiency. Features such as rapid freezing, anti-frost systems, and customizable temperature settings make them ideal for preserving a wide range of food items. For restaurant owners looking for reliable equipment, commercial freezers from Ancaster Food Equipment provide a robust solution. Known for their durability and efficiency, commercial freezers are trusted by countless foodservice professionals to maintain the freshness and safety of their inventory. Such advanced technology not only protects food quality but also contributes to the overall efficiency of a restaurant's kitchen operations. With better storage solutions, chefs can focus on creativity and customer satisfaction rather than worrying about spoiled ingredients. How Commercial Freezers Preserve Food Quality Retaining Nutritional Value Freezing is one of the best methods for preserving the nutritional value of food. Unlike other preservation methods that might degrade vitamins or alter the food’s chemical composition, freezing locks in nutrients. High-quality commercial freezers ensure that the freezing process occurs quickly, preventing ice crystals from forming within the food, which can lead to nutrient loss. Maintaining Texture and Flavor When food is improperly frozen, it can develop freezer burn, which negatively affects its texture and flavor. Commercial freezers with precise temperature control reduce the risk of freezer burn, ensuring that food remains in its original state. For example, delicate items like seafood and baked goods retain their unique textures when stored under optimal conditions. Extending Shelf Life By slowing down the growth of bacteria and mold, freezing dramatically extends the shelf life of perishable goods. This is particularly important for restaurants that deal with seasonal ingredients or bulk purchases. With a reliable commercial freezer, restaurants can store ingredients for longer periods without compromising quality. Supporting Sustainability in the Kitchen Sustainability has become a priority for many restaurants. Commercial freezers play a significant role in reducing food waste by allowing kitchens to store excess ingredients for future use. Instead of discarding unused items, restaurants can freeze them and incorporate them into new dishes, thereby minimizing waste. Additionally, many modern commercial freezers are designed with energy efficiency in mind. They use less electricity while maintaining consistent performance, which is not only good for the environment but also reduces operating costs for restaurant owners . Factors to Consider When Choosing a Commercial Freezer Selecting the right commercial freezer for your restaurant is a critical decision. Here are some factors to consider: Capacity and Size Every restaurant has different storage needs. A small café might require a compact freezer, while a large restaurant or catering business might need a walk-in unit. Assess your storage requirements before making a purchase. Temperature Range Different types of food require different storage temperatures. Choose a freezer that offers customizable temperature settings to accommodate various ingredients. Durability and Maintenance Commercial freezers are long-term investments, so durability is key. Look for models made with high-quality materials that can withstand daily use in a busy kitchen. Also, consider the ease of maintenance and availability of replacement parts. Energy Efficiency Energy-efficient freezers can significantly reduce utility bills. Look for units with Energy Star certifications or similar ratings. Best Practices for Using Commercial Freezers in Restaurants Owning a commercial freezer is only half the battle; using it correctly is just as important. Here are some tips to maximize the effectiveness of your freezer: Organize Your Inventory Use clear labeling and proper shelving to organize your freezer. This minimizes the time the door is open, reducing temperature fluctuations. Perform Regular Maintenance Clean your freezer regularly to prevent the buildup of ice and dirt. Routine maintenance also ensures the unit operates efficiently and lasts longer. Monitor Temperatures Invest in a digital thermometer to keep track of your freezer's temperature. Even slight deviations can affect food quality. Avoid Overloading Overloading a freezer can obstruct airflow, leading to uneven cooling. Stick to the manufacturer’s recommended capacity to ensure optimal performance. The Indirect Benefits of High-Quality Freezers Enhanced Customer Experience When restaurants serve food made with high-quality, fresh ingredients, it reflects in the taste and presentation. This leads to satisfied customers who are likely to return and recommend the restaurant to others. Cost Savings While the initial investment in a commercial freezer can be substantial, the long-term savings are undeniable. Reduced food waste and lower energy bills quickly offset the cost of the equipment. Compliance with Health Standards Restaurants are required to adhere to strict food safety regulations. Commercial freezers help maintain these standards by providing a controlled environment for food storage. Conclusion: A Cornerstone of Culinary Success In the restaurant industry, every detail matters. From the flavor of the dishes to the safety of the food, quality cannot be compromised. Commercial freezers play an essential role in ensuring that restaurants meet the high expectations of their customers. Whether it’s preserving the delicate flavor of fresh seafood or storing large quantities of seasonal produce, commercial freezers are the unsung heroes of the kitchen. For restaurant owners seeking reliable equipment, investing in trusted brands like Ancaster Food Equipment can make all the difference. Ultimately, a well-chosen commercial freezer is not just a piece of equipment; it’s a partner in delivering outstanding dining experiences. By safeguarding the quality of ingredients, these freezers enable restaurants to focus on what they do best—creating memorable meals for their guests. By ML Staff. Images courtesy of Adobestock

This adaptability can significantly influence how information is perceived, highlighting the importance of having accessible and well-formatted content. Entrepreneurs can also use charts and graphs from Excel spreadsheets when preparing investor presentations. A conversion tool can help present this data visually appealingly in slideshows, making the information more digestible. Well-structured presentations can increase confidence and improve the impression made on stakeholders. Streamlining Contract Management Businesses often require collaboration with partners across borders. Efficiently converting documents for international contracts or reports can mitigate misunderstandings and streamline operations. For instance, if a Miami-based company partners with a firm in Spain, ensuring that all contractual documents are translated and formatted correctly can remove barriers to effective communication. This practice is beneficial for maintaining relationships and essential for ensuring compliance with legal standards. Facilitating Remote Work With the rise of remote work , particularly in response to recent global changes, professionals need tools that support collaboration from any location. Document conversion tools enable teams to share information seamlessly, ensuring everyone is on the same page, regardless of their physical location. For example, a marketing team might collaborate on a promotional campaign requiring input from various members. Efficiently converting documents allows for easy sharing and editing, fostering teamwork even when members are miles apart. Image by FAMILY STOCK / Adobestock Maximizing Efficiency with Automation in Document Management Streamlining processes saves time and reduces the likelihood of errors. Many modern document conversion tools include automation features, enabling users to set rules for file conversions based on specific criteria. For example, a marketing agency could automate converting incoming PDF proposals into editable Word documents, significantly reducing manual tasks. Automated workflows can boost productivity by ensuring files are converted as soon as received. This feature ensures teams always work with the latest document versions, especially useful for collaborative projects involving multiple revisions. In Miami’s dynamic business sectors, where responsiveness is crucial, automatic document conversion and formatting provide a valuable advantage. Implementation Tips for Professionals To fully leverage the advantages of document conversion’s advantages, establishing a routine that incorporates these tools into daily operations is crucial. Here are practical tips for implementation: Identify Common Document Types Start by identifying the types of documents you frequently handle and explore specific conversion features that cater to those needs. If your work often involves invoices, contracts, or reports, look for a platform that allows seamless transitions. Understanding your workflow can help you choose the right tools for your unique requirements. Train Your Team Investing time in training can significantly enhance your team’s efficiency. Familiarising yourself and your colleagues with the features of your chosen tools will improve productivity and streamline workflows. Consider hosting internal training sessions or utilising online resources to enhance understanding. A well-trained team will feel more confident managing documents, leading to higher-quality work. Maintain Compliance and Standards Ensure that your document conversion practices adhere to any relevant industry regulations. This consideration is especially critical in sectors like finance and healthcare, where accuracy and compliance are paramount. Choosing a reliable tool prioritizing security and privacy can help maintain these standards while simplifying the overall process. Regularly Review Your Tools Technology is always changing, and new features are continually being developed. Reviewing your document conversion tools can help you use upgrades and new functionalities to streamline your operations further. Staying updated ensures you utilize the best available resources to enhance productivity. By ML Staff. Images courtesy of Adobestock
- A Conversation with "Virgin River" Star Zibby Allen
In this exclusive interview with Miami Living Magazine , we’re excited to connect with Zibby Allen, the talented actress who currently stars as Brie Sheridan in Netflix’s hit series Virgin River , which returns for its highly anticipated sixth season December 19th. As the show continues to rack up streaming records, Zibby shares insights into her role, her aspirations behind the camera, and what it’s like to be part of one of Netflix’s most binged shows. Beyond acting, Zibby is a wellness enthusiast with a passion for curated herbal remedies, glowing skin secrets, and creating a holistic lifestyle. She’s also the co-host of the newly launched podcast I LIKE YOU VERY MUCH , where she and her Virgin River co-star, Alexandra Breckenridge, delve into their deep friendship and celebrate the stories of those they admire. With a fascinating career spanning shows like Grey’s Anatomy , Nancy Drew , and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. , and a life now shared between three countries with her husband, Zibby’s journey is one of transformation, creativity, and heartfelt connections. Miami Living (ML): Thank you so much for joining us today Zibby! Virgin River has become a global phenomenon with millions of fans eagerly awaiting season six. What’s been one of the most surprising or rewarding aspects of being a part of Netflix’s top binged show, and how has the experience shaped your journey as an actor? Zibby: There’s an inherent reward in being part of a show so widely acknowledged and loved. As actors, we don’t often, if ever, receive that level of acknowledgment in this career. I don’t think I’ll ever take it for granted when a stranger stops me on the street to tell me how much they love the show. It’s a wonderful feeling. ML: Your character, Brie Sheridan, has gone through quite an emotional journey on Virgin River. What aspects of Brie’s storyline have resonated most with you personally, and have you brought any of your own experiences into portraying her on screen? Zibby: It’s quite a personal answer, to be honest! I don’t know if I want to divulge too much detail about the intersection of Brie and Zibby… but, in a slightly more general sense, I can say that I think we both have something to offer one another. While I am outwardly a more sensitive, heart-on-my-sleeve type, Brie is much tougher and hard-charging on the outside. Our point of intersection is really this inner battle around worthiness. Post her sexual assault, Brie is fighting for this deep desire to feel worthy of a love she can trust. In my own way and for different reasons, I can relate to this inner yearning to feel worthy of the things I desire most in this world. ML: Can you share a memorable fan encounter or moment that really made you appreciate the devoted following the show has gained? Zibby: I always appreciate it when a fan of the show musters the courage to approach me out in the world. I’ve had some really touching encounters where someone has mentioned they share a similar story to Brie’s and that watching her navigate the aftermath of her assault has given them comfort. That said, the funniest encounters—if you can call them that—are when I’ll be walking down the street, and someone randomly yells out, “Team Brady!” or “Team Mike!” It’s happened a few times and always reminds me how invested viewers are in the show and Brie’s ‘love triangle’! ML: Beyond acting, you’ve curated a beautiful sense of wellness, especially with your herbal remedies and teas. Can you share a few of your favorite go-to products or rituals that help you stay grounded, healthy, and glowing in both body and spirit? Zibby: It’s true—I’m very into herbs because they’ve made such a significant impact on my health. I try to incorporate herbs daily, and as someone who characterizes herself as “consistently inconsistent,” I’ve found that the easiest and most effortless way to do that is by making a cold brew every other night. Basically, I toss a couple of spoonfuls of whatever loose-leaf herbs I’m using into a tall carafe, fill it with filtered water, cap it, chuck it in the fridge overnight, then strain it in the morning and drink the nutrient-rich water all day. It’s the same as drinking water throughout the day, only this is even better for you. I also make my own tinctures, which I keep in my purse and take a couple of drops from whenever I need a little extra herbal support, no matter where I am. A favorite glowy-skin blend I often use includes: Nettle (rich in Vitamins A, C, K & B—all good for boosting skin radiance) Calendula (skin-hydrating, anti-fungal, anti-aging, antioxidant) Licorice (skin-brightening and tightening, synthesizes with collagen production, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory) Burdock (antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, promotes healthy circulation). ML: We love the concept of your new podcast, I LIKE YOU VERY MUCH, and the deep bond and friendship you share with co-host Alexandra Breckenridge. Can you tell us more about the co-creation of this project, and what’s been one of the most surprising or heartwarming conversations you’ve had on the podcast so far? Zibby: Thanks! Our podcast is really a celebration of our friendship. Alex and I both understand how powerful true friendship can be. There’s something so medicinal about a close female friend you can be fully yourself with. With all the negativity and fear that shows up online, we loved the idea of creating a podcast that’s about celebrating what we like about each other—and our guests. We’ve found that focusing on what we genuinely appreciate about a guest opens the door to some incredible, real conversations about who they are and what makes them tick. It’s also funny to see how people can squirm a little when they’re given sincere compliments! I’ve sincerely loved every conversation with every guest we’ve had on the show, but the episode we did with our guest Dan Payne (the actor who plays Nate Brenner—Joey’s husband—on Virgin River, along with countless roles in TV and film) stands out. We didn’t know him nearly as well as the other guests, and the whole conversation ranged from deeply emotional to hysterically funny. We laughed, we cried, Dan shared deep truths… and ultimately, I think that’s the stuff you can’t plan for but ends up being so connecting, whether as hosts of the pod or even just as listeners. ML: You’d been outspoken in the past about your stance against marriage, which evolved after falling in love with your now husband in Scotland. What changed for you, and how has your relationship influenced your outlook on life? Zibby: I’m very happily married to my partner, Adam, but I still think marriage, in its traditional sense, can be problematic. Culturally, we often treat relationships like emotional ATMs—expecting our partner to provide the love, validation, or happiness we feel we’re owed. This dynamic has always disturbed me: objectifying one another and placing an unfair burden on our partner to fulfill our sense of worth or completeness. It’s a setup for disappointment and “failure.” Marriage, as commonly practiced, often seems to impose restrictions and rigid expectations about who your spouse should be and how they should behave to fit into a predefined idea of success in a relationship. That said, meeting Adam obviously shifted my perspective quite a bit. Partially because I found someone I am genuinely compatible with and admire so completely—not because of how he makes me feel, but because of who he is in the world, independent of me. But also because he didn’t come to this relationship with a preset framework of what his partner needed to be. It just created space for me to realize that it’s not about the label—whether I call him my partner, boyfriend, husband, or simply “my person.” What matters is how I choose to love him and how we choose to frame our commitment to each other. While the traditional ideals of marriage don’t resonate with us, I’ve grown to appreciate marriage as a practice—a commitment to exploring how love evolves over time and being deeply curious about the long-term effects of that practice on myself and our relationship. ML: You've had such an inspiring journey—both professionally and personally—balancing a thriving acting career with your podcast, wellness practices, and life across three countries. Looking ahead, what’s next for you? Are there any new projects or passions you're excited to explore in the future? Zibby: Thanks for saying that. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like I’m balancing it all particularly well… but whatever. I’m definitely allowing myself to pursue the things I love and value most! As for new projects, I’m in the midst of refining a draft of a feature I’ve written. If I can muster the courage, I’d like to make this film, star in it, and possibly co-direct. My recent experience in producing has really shown me that to create a movie that’s truly your own, creatively speaking, you just have to go for it. This means not waiting for someone else to provide funding or permission—usually based on attaching “bankable names,” blah blah blah. That stuff does my head in. So yeah, I’m working on building the courage to forge ahead independently with this love-ish story I’ve got brewing.
