Chotto Matte, the pioneering global Nikkei dining destination with locations in London, Toronto and Miami Beach (and upcoming outposts in Doha, Riyadh, San Francisco and Beverly Hills), has announced it will release its first NFT in conjunction with NFT Week and the 2022 Bitcoin Miami conference on April 5, 2022. Chotto Matte was founded in London in 2013 by Kurt Zdesar, a visionary restaurateur with more than 30 years of experience in global hospitality. Thanks to Zdesar’s avant-garde vision, the Chotto Matte brand has always been at the forefront of innovation, so it comes as no surprise that it is entering the world of crypto – or that it is one of the first in the hospitality industry to release an NFT with a membership-benefit aspect. "Innovation is a pillar of the Chotto Matte brand; from the menu to design, we always aim to push the boundaries,” says Kurt Zdesar, Owner and Founder of Chotto Matte. “After great successes in the US, Europe and Canada, the crypto space is another market I want to explore. It's the future and there is so much yet to be done!" Dubbed The Founder, Chotto Matte’s first official NFT will be a one-time-release collectible chip card that grants its owner exclusive membership access with an array of bespoke benefits, redeemable all over the world, and designed to mirror the advantages accessed by Zdesar. Never-before-seen perks include: personal invitations to every Chotto Matte restaurant opening around the world, plus first-class flights and five-star accommodations; access to a yearly distillery, vineyard and premium farm visit; New Year’s Eve dinner invitation for six at any Chotto Matte location; an exclusive at home experience with Chotto’s Executive Chef himself; one major sports event ticket for two people per year (FIFA, F1, boxing, etc.); and more! The Founder will be a Chotto Matte-branded digital wallet that the owner can access through a portal containing the list of their perks. When the owner wants to redeem a perk, they simply click on the event, and a team member from Chotto Matte will reach out to them to coordinate. There will only be ONE Founder NFT produced, and it is currently the only Chotto Matte membership available, adding to its exclusivity. However, as Zdesar explains, “This exclusive membership represents our first, but not our last, leap into the metaverse,”. The Founder NFT will be available for purchase on Open Sea for $1 million USD. Chotto Matte will host a special launch event on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 7 p.m. to midnight. The event will seamlessly align with Miami NFT Week (April 1-3 at Mana Wynwood Convention Center) and the Bitcoin 2022 conference (April 6-9 at Miami Beach Convention Center), which are expected to welcome thousands of crypto enthusiasts, innovators, and regulators from all over the world. The 10/31, made with Hakushu 12-year-old Japanese whisky and garnished with a theatrical flammable dollar bill that reveals a Bitcoin coin. The launch event will celebrate the restaurant’s entrance into the metaverse with live crypto-inspired performances, exhilarating entertainment and lavish costumes. Individuals from the conference will be able to flash their Whale or Industry passes to unlock a secret curated menu showcasing the most opulent Nikkei dishes (available to purchase only in Bitcoin). “It’s guaranteed to leave you starry-eyed,” continues Zdesar. Affectionally known as “the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul”, Blige was invited back after thousands of fans clamored for her return to the country’s fastest growing jazz/R&B festival, presented by the City of Miami Gardens, the largest Black city in Florida. Jazz in the Gardens (JITG) full line up is Mary J. - Miami New Drama presents the World Premiere of When Monica Met Hillary By Winter Miller
Miami New Drama Artistic Director Michel Hausmann and Managing Director Nicholas Richberg are pleased to announce the world premiere production of When Monica Met Hillary, a new play by Winter Miller (The Public Theater’s In Darfur) and directed by Margot Bordelon (Playwrights Horizons’ Wives). When Monica Met Hillary will play at the Colony Theatre (1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL.) from March 3 - March 27, with opening night set for March 5. The cast for When Monica Met Hillary will feature Kyra Kennedy (Mystic Pizza) as Monica Lewinsky, Danielle Skraastad (Hurricane Diane at NYTW/WP) as Hillary Clinton, Mia Matthews (MND’s 7 Deadly Sins) as Marcia Lewis, and Rasha Zamamiri (“The Blacklist”) as Huma Abedin. Girl meets boss. Girl falls for boss. Girl loses everything. A First Lady breaks the glass ceiling...only to find another. Monica and Hillary have never met. Until now. You think you know the story. After all, you did hear it from the media, the news, the tabloids…but you might come to realize you don’t know it at all. This story is about mothers and daughters, ambitious politicians who are devoted wives, and, yes, the men…but they don’t have a say in how this story ends. Monica and Hillary have never met, never spoken to each other; but what if, years later, they did meet? A world-premiere play written by Winter Miller (The Public Theater’s In Darfur) and directed by Margot Bordelon (Playwrights Horizons’ Wives). Playwright Winter Miller says, “If these two exceptionally resilient women do meet one day, I’d for sure want to be a fly on the wall. But if that never happens, this play is a boxing match between two of this and last century’s most famous women on earth, well, aside from Charli D’Amelio.” “This is a show about women that were put under a tiny microscope by the media, by this country, and scrutinized to the point that stripped them of their humanity. It’s a great honor to be working with brilliant artists like Winter Miller and Margot Bordelon who will make the reclaiming of this narrative resonate in the current world we live in,” says Artistic Director Michel Hausmann, who commissioned the piece. The award-winning design team features scenic design by Reid Thompson, costume design by Dina El-Aziz, lighting design by Yuki Nakase Link, and sound design & composition by Palmer Hefferan. Casting is by Laura Stanczyk. Emma Iacometta serves as stage manager. Tickets ($45 -$85) are available for purchase by visiting miaminewdrama.org or by calling (305) 674-1040. - American Heritage Schools is the #1 School in Florida for Presidential Scholar Candidates
The prestigious American Heritage Schools is proud to announce that 21 students from the Class of 2022 (Broward Campus, 13 and Palm Beach Campus, 8) have been nominated for the Presidential Scholars award, making American Heritage Schools the No. 1 school in Florida for the highest number of Presidential Scholar candidates. The U.S. Presidential Scholars is the nation’s most prestigious recognition for distinguished graduating high school seniors. The candidates were selected from nearly 3.6 million students expected to graduate from United States high schools in 2022. Scholars are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities. “Achieving Presidential Scholar status is one of the highest academic honors bestowed upon a graduating high school student,” said Dr. Doug Laurie, president of American Heritage Schools. “We are proud to have 21 students qualify for this prestigious nomination. Each student exemplifies extraordinary achievements, strong character, and community involvement, and their work and continued pursuit of excellence are admired.” The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President to recognize some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating seniors for their accomplishments in many areas: academic success, leadership, and service to school and community. It was expanded in 1979 to recognize students demonstrating exceptional scholarship and talent in the visual, creative, and performing arts. In 2015, the program was expanded once again to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical fields. Annually, up to 161 U.S. Presidential Scholars are chosen from among that year’s senior class, representing excellence in education and the promise of greatness in America’s youth. A distinguished panel of educators will review these submissions and select approximately 600 semifinalists in early April. The Commission on Presidential Scholars, a group of up to 32 eminent citizens appointed by the President, will select the finalists, and the U.S. Department of Education will announce the Scholars in May. U.S. Presidential Scholars are honored for their accomplishments during the National Recognition Program in Washington D.C. each June. To commemorate their achievement, the Scholars are awarded the Presidential Scholars Medallion during a White House sponsored ceremony. American Heritage Schools is the No. 1 private school in Florida for nationally-recognized scholars in math competition, science fair, mock trial, moot court, and speech and debate. Alumni are notable leaders in their chosen fields who are generating positive differences in the world. - Eat Me Guilt Free Announces 2022 “You Glow Girl” Grant
After a successful unveiling in 2021, Eat Me Guilt Free, a health-focused line of bread, brownies, snacks and tortilla wraps, is announcing its 2022 “You Glow Girl” grant program on Feb. 13, ahead of National Entrepreneurship Week (Feb. 12-19). This is the second year for the grant, supporting Eat Me Guilt Free CEO and founder Cristie Besu’s commitment to empowering female founders like herself to glow and grow, both professionally and personally. Eat Me Guilt Free is baking up more than just brownies in the kitchen — Besu is curating a female empowerment community, bringing together women entrepreneurs and leaders who will uplift one another and continually rewrite the traditional business narrative. She invites all “glow-getters” to apply for the grant for a chance to level up their business in 2022. The grant’s debut in 2021 resulted in more than 320 radiant applicants, spanning several industries including food and beverage, skincare and cosmetics, health and fitness, education, technology and software, marketing, fine art, and hospitality. After a comprehensive review process, BagValet founder Amanda Sheridan was crowned the winner. Her entrepreneurial spirit, savvy business plan and “boss babe” mentality captured the attention of Besu. BagValet assists travelers in bridging the gap between lodging accommodations and flight times by providing daily luggage storage with the convenience of door-to-door service. This year Eat Me Guilt Free is hoping to reach even more women by making it easier to apply. Aspiring women can apply for the 2022 “You Glow Girl” grant by uploading a 30-60 second video to https://www.eatmeguiltfree.com/pages/youglowgirl by July 1, 2022. After an initial review process, 25 semi-finalists will be selected and invited to submit a video submission by July 25. Then, on Aug. 1, ten finalists will be announced and will participate in virtual interviews with Besu and a panel of business experts. The grant winner will be announced on Aug. 19. The 2022 “You Glow Girl” grant winner will receive $10,000 to help her business flourish and a one-year supply of Eat Me Guilt Free products to stay fueled. New for 2022, the winner will receive access to a mind, body, spirit virtual suite including a monthly check-in with mental health professional Gabriela Reyes, MFT of @mindful.gee; a ClassPass subscription; and a Calm or Headspace subscription to practice mindfulness. The winner will also be awarded a two-part immersive coaching and mentorship experience with Besu including a two-day retreat to Miami, FL to Eat Me Guilt Free’s headquarters to focus on strategic planning and goal-setting as well as opportunities to meet with other experts in Besu’s network. Part two will include a visit from Besu to the winner’s headquarters for extensive one-on-one coaching specific to the winner’s business. “After a successful debut in 2021, we are excited to launch the 2022 ‘You Glow Girl’ grant,” said Besu. “Supporting female entrepreneurs is a true passion of mine. We started the grant program to bring to life the true purpose of empowerment, as well as to provide the guidance and resources necessary for female entrepreneurs to live out their business dreams. The responsibility is on us as female business owners to take measurable actions to lift up other women walking the path of entrepreneurship." As a registered nurse and certified sports nutritionist-turned mompreneur who began baking Eat Me Guilt Free treats straight from her own kitchen in 2013, Besu knows that when it comes to female entrepreneurship, the struggle can be real. Besu relied solely on her own personal financial savings, her drive and hustle, and a loyal clientele to launch Eat Me Guilt Free. She made significant sacrifices to launch her brand and has firsthand experience of the hardships and barriers limiting female entrepreneurs from succeeding. Besu recognized that there were many crucial points in her journey as a female entrepreneur where she could have used guidance and a financial boost. It was then that she realized she wanted to help other female entrepreneurs with the very things she needed help with. Eat Me Guilt Free now boasts a team of highly skilled artisan bakers, and the product line’s baked goods offer a protein-packed, low-carbohydrate ratio, making them a healthier alternative to traditional snacks. The brand never sacrifices taste or texture when creating original recipes — and fills a gap in the market with its health-conscious alternatives to sweets that fitness/wellness enthusiasts can feel good about putting into their bodies. Today Besu’s guilt-free and protein-packed brownies, bread, baguettes and tortilla wraps are available for purchase at more than 7,500 independent retailers nationwide, GNC, The Vitamin Shoppe, as well as through Amazon.com, Walmart.com and EatMeGuiltFree.com.
