- Hermès Luxurious Textiles for Your Home
The inspiration for Hermès’ line of luxurious textiles came from the pages of the jockey silks registers, where silk satin samples were archived with each new order. These registers were compiled by the seamstresses in the workshop producing jockey silks and horse blankets. It was adjacent to the saddlery workshop at 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré and operated from 1905 to 1982. Each of these 5 cushions stitched with silk twill has a distinctive character, making them perfect for mixing in order to create a personalized home interior. Initially, the material is woven by hand before being folded and dipped in three different color baths to create new color variations. The signature is created by attaching a wooden H to the plaid before it is dipped in the dye baths, thus preventing any color from penetrating the material in that precise area. - Alpareno Restaurant Group Partners with Tripping Animals Brewing Co. to Launch The Forager Hazy IPA
Alpareno Restaurant Group is thrilled to announce a partnership with Tripping Animals Brewing Co. for an exclusive ale, “The Forager,” now available at all Alpareno restaurants (Orno and Mamey at THesis Hotel Miami and the Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded Ghee Indian Kitchen) as well as Alpareno’s seasonal dinner series “Sundays at the Rancho”. The beer is a passion project for Chef Niven and his collaborator Mohamed “Mo” Alkassar, who spearheaded the partnership with Tripping Animals. The duo was recently listed as James Beard Award semifinalists in the “Best Restaurateur” category. “My partner allows us to consistently deliver on our promise to serve stellar food using the freshest local ingredients across all our restaurants. We place just as much effort into ensuring our beverage program complements our food in the same way.,” explained Mo. “We are thrilled to partner with our friends at Tripping Animals to create a beer that illustrates our commitment to the local community here in South Florida.” The Forager was inspired by Chef Niven, who forages fresh ingredients for Alpareno’s restaurants every morning at his Homestead farm, Rancho Patel. It’s also a humorous nickname for Mo, who continually forages food from Alpareno’s kitchens during the dinner rush, sampling the latest and greatest specials. When served The Forager, diners will first notice the unique can, conceptualized by Chef Niven and Mo who are creatively illustrated by Tripping Animals Art Director, David Leon as “tripping” animals. Chef Niven is pictured as a tripping goat, holding a knife and sporting the floral shirt he wears regularly. Mo is depicted as a vivacious tucan snacking on chanterelle mushrooms that they forage in Coral Gables. The restaurants are also represented in the graphic: Mo’s hat is adorned with the Orno logo while he’s perched above a Mamey fruit. Ghee Indian Kitchen is represented as marigold flowers, which are prominent during Diwali celebrations. Alpareno’s upcoming restaurant, Erba, is represented by the “E” on the label of the olive oil bottle. Finally, to represent Rancho Patel, there’s a farm basket featuring okra, Chef Niven’s favorite vegetable. The Forager is a hazy IPA, which goes through double fermentation, giving it a crisp flavor profile that is easy to drink. The ale has notes of citrus, cashmere and amarillo hops, offering a full-bodied beer with a bright finish. “The Forager was brewed using a blend of specialty malts, which provided a full-bodied, flavorful base for the beer,” said Ignacio Montenegro, co-founder and executive creative director of Tripping Animals Brewing Co. “The recipe includes a blend of hops from the USA, which give the beer a bright, juicy and citrusy hop character.” The beer’s diverse flavors pair perfectly with menu items from all three Alpareno restaurants and the prix fixe menus served during special events at Rancho Patel. According to Chef Niven, The Forager goes best with Mamey’s Prince Edward Island Mussels, Conch Fritters and Ceviche; Orno’s Sunray Venus Clam Bucatini, Rancho Shikou Eggplant and Whole Grilled Branzino; and Ghee’s Chicken Tikka Masala, Spicy Papaya Salad and Ghost Pepper Cheddar Naan. “The beer is nice to sip and goes really well with the food we serve,” said Chef Niven. “I love pairing it with seafood and spicy dishes because it balances the flavors and ingredients beautifully.” The Forager is available for $14 per can at all Alpareno restaurants and served at Rancho Patel during special events. It is priced for $8 during happy hour at Mamey on 3rd rooftop at THesis Hotel, available daily from 3--6 p.m. For more information on Alpareno Restaurant Group and Chef Niven and Mo, visit alpareno.com. - The Old Course at Broken Sound Club Reopens After Rees Jones Redesign
Members prepare to tee up as Broken Sound Club, South Florida’s most exclusive and sought after private residential members club, reopened the long awaited redesigned Old Course, spearheaded by world-renowned golf course architect Rees Jones. The Old Course at Broken Sound Club is a stop for tournaments including the PGA TOUR Champions TimberTech Championship and The Jim McLean Junior Championship. Following the redesign, residents and tournament contestants can expect a premier golfing experience every round. Driven by Broken Sound Club’s ongoing efforts to strategically improve and enhance its facilities for members and guests alike, the project aimed to advance the objective of sustainability, improve the overall playing conditions and replace infrastructure. At the forefront of sustainability initiatives, the course is the first golf facility in Florida, second in the U.S. and 14th in the world to be GEO Certified. The par 72 Old Course is a pure core golf course without housing. Among the complete changes and additions to the course, many of the holes have been reimagined to give players more options on how to play each hole and suit their game. In addition, the classic style bunkers are now easier to access and designed to be fair and playable. The course surface is carefully composed of TifEagle Bermuda grass on the greens, Celebration Bermudagrass on the fairways and rough areas, and Sunday Bermuda grass on the tee surfaces. The beauty of the redesigned Old Course is in the details, and by challenging the low handicap player and allowing various openings to most of the greens for the higher handicap person, the redesigned Old Course creates a thought-provoking game for players at every level. Lead architect Rees Jones has designed more than 260 golf courses in his career. Jones has earned the moniker "The Open Doctor" as his expertise and knowledge for course design have been applied to seven U.S. Open venues, nine PGA Championship courses, six Ryder Cups, two Walker Cup sites as well as three Presidents Cup venues. For this major project, Rees was joined by second in command, Bryce Swanson, who was recognized by a panel of Golf Magazine editors as one of three golf course architects named to “Golf’s 40 under 40: The 40 Most Influential People in Golf Under 40 Years Old.” The design style is classic, while the technology is modern. Their combined experience redesigning a number of the world’s most notable championship venues has helped provide members with an incredibly dynamic experience right in their backyard. Players will find the redesigned course to be a unique experience every day. The classic design and technology-forward attributes will enable them to continuously enjoy a compelling game that will provide a new challenge every day. Broken Sound Club Members will have growing pride in their club with the knowledge that, as a team, the Club’s design committee and golf course designers provided the Broken Sound Club community with a landmark course that will stand the test of time. The new and improved Old Course at Broken Sound Club continues to challenge the conventional ideal of South Florida golf courses and should change the golf landscape in the state for years to come. - News Café Reopens on Ocean Drive
News Café, the notable restaurant, bar, and newsstand that contributed to South Beach’s resurgence in the 1980s, reopened at its original location on the ground floor of The Tony Hotel at 804 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach. Operated by Vida & Estilo Restaurant Group, the iconic landmark will boast an elevated design and Mediterranean-American menu. The brainchild of renowned restaurateur Mark Soyka, News Café debuted in 1988 as one of the only restaurants in Ocean Drive’s Art Deco district, an infamously dilapidated area at the time. The 350-seat restaurant quickly became a go-to destination for locals and tourists alike, including Gianni Versace who notoriously frequented the restaurant daily for his breakfast and newspaper. The concept thrived for nearly 30 years, open 24 hours and servicing between four and five thousand patrons a day. “The News Café was essential to South Beach,” said Jamil Dib, Founder and Co-Owner of Vida & Estilo Restaurant Group. “If you visited without going to News Café, you didn’t experience the real South Beach. We have the honor of restoring the restaurant and therefore a responsibility to its legacy, which we are confident the new concept pays homage to.” In tandem with the News Café's success, founder of Goldman Properties and late visionary Tony Goldman pioneered a renaissance in South Beach. He renovated and revitalized a portfolio of Art Deco hotels and properties in the neighborhood, including The Tony Hotel. The new developments attracted locals, tourists, and businesses to the neighborhood that ushered in a new era of prosperity which continues there today. Goldman Properties acquired the News Café brand in 2021 and is partnering with Vida & Estilo for the reopening. “Tony had a unique ability for placemaking. He built diverse communities where local businesses thrived and tourism flourished,” said Scott Srebnick, CEO of Goldman Properties. “We strive to honor Tony’s legacy by continuing to restore and preserve historic establishments like the News Café.” In tribute to the original menu, News Café will return with beloved classics alongside new dishes conceived by Chef Henry Hané, Founder of Brickell’s popular B Bistro. Open all day, News Café will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner inspired by Mediterranean and American cuisine. Its ingredients will be sourced from local purveyors and artisans well-known for their craft, including fresh pastries, honey, and vegetables. “As a local, I remember eating at News Café with my family every Friday,” said Chef Henry Hané. “I know I’m not the only one who has felt its absence since it closed, so I’m humbled to support its renaissance.” Encouraging nostalgia, the menu will recreate the original Tony’s tomato soup, tuna melt, Aegean-Mediterranean plate, and eggs benedict. New additions include indulgent dishes like the Ocean Drive bacon, egg, and cheese; piña colada pancakes with grilled pineapple and coconut syrup; loaded fries; and a delicious burger with red wine demi sauce, smoked gouda, and caramelized onions. Lunch and dinner menus pair exceptionally well with an extensive beverage menu that includes iced and frozen cocktails, still and sparkling wines, and an assortment of beers. The same sentimental green awning with its “News Café” logo that has welcomed guests since 1988 will remain above the entrance to the eatery. Its namesake and legendary newsstand will be populated with local, national, and international papers for diners to buy and read over a cup of coffee, as was typical of its past patrons. Wall décor includes framed portraits of 90s icons, including Gianni Versace and Tony Goldman, in addition to vintage images of News Cafe’s early years. Guests will be seated at marble tables or can request to dine in the “Fashion Corner,” featuring an homage to Versace. Nextdoor to the News Café, Vida & Estilo Restaurant Group just opened the doors to its third Oh! Mexico location, serving Mexican dishes made with fresh ingredients and house-made tortillas. Since 1997, Oh! Mexico has provided authentic Mexican fare to its patrons on Española Way. The 804 Ocean Drive concept, Oh! Mexico Taco Shop will operate as a classic taco shop, welcoming beachgoers and pedestrians to enjoy a casual bite and a frosty margarita. By ML Staff. Images Courtesy Of News Cafe

- Introducing Vignamaggio -A Historical Wine Estate in Tuscany
Just south of Florence, in one of the most beautiful areas of Tuscany, lies a historic wine estate in the midst of a decade-long restoration, Vignamaggio. Comprising a farm, vineyards, olive groves, a small hotel, 3 farmhouse villas and launching this summer a historic Borgo, the ultimate Tuscan takeover for a stylish wedding or event Created by acclaimed French architect and landscape designer Patrice Taravella - who created the spectacular gardens at Babylonstoren and The Newt in Somerset - and his partner Emmanuelle Sebillet, it will soon comprise a farm to table restaurant and a shop selling the estate’s wines and artisan produce. The spectacular luxury hotel will be opening in Spring 2024 in the ancient pink villa which provided setting for the movie, Much Ado About Nothing Set between forests and streams in the picturesque Chianti hills, Vignamaggio is a historic Tuscan estate with an organic farm and wine cellar that has been in operation for over six centuries. Legend links the estate to both artist Leonardo da Vinci and the Mona Lisa herself. Today, under the careful guidance of co-owners Patrice Taravella - the visionary behind the celebrated gardens at both South Africa’s Babylonstoren and The Newt in Somerset - and his partner, interior designer Emmanuelle Sebillet, Vignamaggio is being transformed for the modern world through a decade-long project marrying its unique heritage with a contemporary approach. While the estate’s 65 hectares of rolling vines are still tended according to strict controls laid down by the Medici, the ancient cellars which produce the region’s finest Chianti Classico now feature state-of-the-art technology. Il Borgo, a 14th-century villa which lay dormant for three decades, has been entirely restored to create a stylish and impressive event venue. A collection of Tuscan farmhouses across the estate have been meticulously updated to offer the ultimate holiday escape, complete with private pools and jaw-dropping views. For those seeking a taste of village life, La Pensione - Vignamaggio’s guest house in the charming village of Panzano - has been refurbished to create a characterful haven, with two new suites being added in time for the summer season. In December, the team will launch La Fattoria (‘The Farm’), a 120-seat vineyard view restaurant celebrating the very best of the estate’s own produce. The menu will showcase dishes created using wheat grown in the surrounding landscape, while an onsite farm shop and deli will stock Vignamaggio’s own wines, with visitors able to watch artisans at work curing meats and creating famous Italian cheeses. IL BORGO Amid elegant gardens lies Il Borgo di Vignamaggio, a lovingly restored 14th century villa, which launches this spring as Tuscany’s most stylish event space, after a six-year project to return it to its former glory. The birthplace of Verrazzano - the first European explorer to discover New York Bay - the villa has been brought back to life after lying dormant for over three decades. Its interiors, created by Emmanuelle, celebrate the finest in local and traditional craftsmanship, from handmade cotto tiles to bespoke woodwork. Drawing on surviving examples of centuries’ old furniture in the Uffizi in nearby Florence, Emmanuelle and her team have created pieces which marry historic details with timeless contemporary design. COMING SOON… VILLA VIGNAMAGGIO & THE VIGNAMAGGIO GRAN GIARDINO Expected to launch for summer 2024 following a near-decade long project, the Renaissance Villa Vignamaggio at the heart of the estate is to be reborn as a 19-suite hotel, while surrounding landscape will be transformed by Patrice Taravella into a garden worthy of its legend, with breathtaking views over vineyards and olive groves. As with his celebrated work at Babylonstoren and The Newt in Somerset, the Vignamaggio Gran Giardini will become one of the great gardens of Italy, with access open to daytime visitors alongside hotel guests. Elsewhere, a working kitchen garden will once again reconnect this ancient building with the landscape which has sustained it for centuries, while guests will enjoy access to an on-site bar, restaurant, spa and both indoor and outdoor pools.
