  • GOLDLAW to Sponsor International Red Sneakers Day on May 19

GOLDLAW is proud to announce its sponsorship of International Red Sneakers Day (IRSD), the biggest outreach day each year for 501©3 nonprofit Red Sneakers for Oakley (RSFO). In May 2023, IRSD reached 7 million people worldwide. Red Sneakers for Oakley was established in 2016 after Oakley Debbs passed away due to an anaphylactic reaction at just 11 years of age. RSFO is grounded in the sense that education is desperately needed between allergists hospitals, first-responders, parents, schools, and the general public. The nonprofit has dedicated its resources to education and advocacy for food allergy awareness to save lives across the globe. International Red Sneaker Day will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at The Square in West Palm Beach, FL, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The celebration offers local and national vendors the opportunity to share their mission and/or products with attendees, share information about RSFO, and promote the following goals: Create an environment for the good allergy community to come together with one common purpose. Educate the non-food allergy community on the dangers of food allergies. Provide resources and education about food allergies for everyone in attendance. GOLDLAW originally became a sponsor of RSFO events due to the inspiration of Founder/CEO Craig Goldenfarb. Because Goldenfarb suffers from a tree nut allergy like Oakley, he established an immediate connection with the Debbs family. In August 2023, thanks in part to the relationship he had struck with the Debbs’ family, Goldenfarb was appointed to the charity’s Board of Directors, which was well-received in the food allergy community. “Craig’s personal challenges with food allergies will make him an insightful and compassionate advocate for Red Sneakers for Oakley as a member of the Board of Directors,” said RSFO Director of Development Kim Medeiros. “Because Craig can personally relate to the need for advocacy and legislation for food allergy education and awareness, Red Sneakers for Oakley is thrilled to have Craig aboard as a BOD member.” “As someone who suffers from a tree nut allergy, I’m well aware of the dangers an individual faces if they are exposed to the allergen,” said Goldenfarb. “Over the years, I’ve gone into anaphylactic shock three times and almost died. Thankfully, restaurants, airlines and schools are starting to take the problem more seriously, but we still have a lot of work to do with respect to educating the public about the severity of food allergies.” By ML Staff. • Miami Nightlife Hotspots for Tourists To Visit

The nightlife in Miami is constantly changing, but there's one thing you can always rely on: this city knows how to have a good time. The neighborhoods notorious for the party lifestyle move in a flash, and the best bars look entirely different from what they did five years ago, but that’s the beauty of Miami. A magic city that is ever-growing and evolving; even when you're not looking for the best things to enjoy in Miami, they have a funny way of finding you. If you'd rather not go with the flow, and instead test your luck to see if you can find a piece of the action, look no further. We have collated the standout destinations in all of Miami, so here, find our comprehensive guide to Miami nightlife and how you can guarantee a good time. Image by Aurora Kreativ/Unsplash Casinos Although South Florida can't give you everything that Las Vegas can when it comes to casinos, there are still plenty of spots in Miami that offer acres of glowing lights and clanging slot coin opportunities to test your luck and win big. Miami casinos are great for everyone, catering to all skill levels — everything, from hardcore high-stakes Texas hold 'em to a classic game of bingo. The biggest casino in Miami is the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, a mammoth complex with roulettes, neon slots, and over 100 tables playing casino games like blackjack, Texas hold 'em, poker, and more. However, gambling isn't the only attraction of a casino like this. You can divulge in multiple restaurants, bars, and live entertainment, with the most decorated being the Hard Rock music venue that showcases some of the biggest touring comedians and musicians that make their way through Florida. Image by Kaysha/Unsplash Dining There was a time when Miami's reputation as a party city prevented its restaurant industry from gaining recognition. For years, world-class seafood and some of the best Cuban food anywhere away from Cuba have been enjoyed before Marcus Samuelsson and Joël Robuchon opened their restaurants. The openings have continued, and Miami's Design District has become Florida's little Brooklyn by the beach with its reputation for glamourous partying, so you won't run out of buzzy spots for catching a glimpse of celebrities (if that’s something you enjoy) or stylishly understated places to stay. Few places in Miami can impress anyone and everyone, and COTE Miami is one of them, especially for those who enjoy a family-style meal and can cook it in front of them. The place is a "wow" place, so diners want to experience the unique atmosphere and the great food. Throughout the restaurant, servers are in sync, ensuring the meats are seared to perfection (cooking in front of your eyes on a smokeless grill). As part of the Butcher's Feast, four cuts of meat were dished up with various Korean sides, like egg souffle and red leaf lettuce with ssamjang sauce. There's no better appetizer than their famed steak and eggs — a filet mignon steak tartare with caviar and buttery, crispy milk toast. The Surf Club Restaurant is built on perfection, executing dishes tableside with not even a garnish out of place. A ribeye takes pride of place on the menu — cooked buttery to the ideal temperature. It feels like the staff preparing each meal have studied the execution for decades, ensuring the perfect proportion of ingredients, with familiar dishes with a touch of decadence, transforming them into a taste sensation you've never experienced. Music Venues Music venues are massive in Miami, a city known for its electronic music scene, but if you look a little deeper, you'll find that rock and roll flows through every corner. Letting yourself go at a rock concert is somewhat cathartic, with the face-melting solos, dripping sweat, and heart-pumping drum beat. Miami is home to live music from rap, world music, electronica, rock, and more, with stunning venues providing the opportunity to perform. Miami Beach Bandshell is a multi-faceted venue that hosts reggae, Latin rock, string quartets, and even comedy shows. This iconic open-air venue hosts over 100 shows a year, with many rock bands set to play in 2024, like José González, Ceu, and Él Mató a un Policía Motorizado. The Fillmore is a historic venue hosting shows since the 1950s, with some serious touring artists gracing the stage — like Sting, Sum 41, and Róisín Murphy — all looking to play through 2024. The venue is now controlled by promotion giants Live Nation, but it has always been a sweet spot in Miami for acts looking to play live music when they're too big for a local club but not big enough for an arena. Image by Nicholas Green/Unsplash Diverse Miami Miami has always attracted tourists with its blazing sun, beautiful beaches, and laid-back culture. With so many attractions to dive into, this is a city you will never be short of anything to do. From testing your luck in the casinos, enjoying a live concert, or eating at some of the country's most outstanding food venues, Miami is a spectacular and must-visit destination. By ML Staff. • How to Use Delta 8 Vape Pens: A Comprehensive Guide

Delta 8 THC has emerged as a popular cannabinoid among cannabis enthusiasts, known for its unique psychoactive properties that offer a milder high compared to Delta 9 THC. Among the various ways to consume Delta 8, vape pens have gained significant popularity for their convenience, discretion, and ease of use. Whether you're new to Delta 8 or looking to switch to vaping, this guide will walk you through how to use Delta 8 vape pens effectively and safely. Understanding Delta 8 Vape Pens Delta 8 vape pens are portable electronic devices designed to vaporize Delta 8 THC oil. They come in two main types: disposable and refillable. Disposable vape pens come pre-filled with Delta 8 oil and are meant to be discarded after use. Refillable vape pens, on the other hand, can be recharged and refilled with your choice of Delta 8 THC oil. Choosing Your Delta 8 Vape Pen When selecting a Delta 8 vape pen, consider factors like potency, flavor, type of pen (disposable vs. refillable), and brand reputation. For beginners, disposable pens might be more convenient, while experienced users might prefer the customization options of refillable pens. How to Use a Delta 8 Vape Pen Step 1: Charging Your Pen (If Refillable) If you're using a refillable vape pen, ensure it's fully charged before your first use. Most pens come with a USB charger for easy charging. A full charge provides the best experience and ensures the device functions correctly. Step 2: Filling the Pen (If Refillable) For refillable vape pens, you'll need to fill the cartridge with Delta 8 THC oil. Unscrew the cartridge from the battery, open the tank, and carefully fill it with the oil using a dropper or syringe, avoiding overfilling. Screw the cartridge back onto the battery. Step 3: Turning On the Pen To turn on the vape pen, press the power button five times quickly. Some models might have different activation methods, so refer to the user manual if necessary. Step 4: Adjusting the Settings (If Applicable) Some vape pens allow you to adjust the voltage or temperature settings. Start with the lowest setting and gradually increase to find your preferred balance between flavor and vapor production. Step 5: Inhaling Hold down the power button as you inhale from the mouthpiece. Start with small, gentle puffs to gauge the potency and effects of the Delta 8 THC. Allow a few minutes between puffs to assess how you feel. Step 6: Turning Off the Pen When you're finished, turn off the vape pen by pressing the power button five times quickly. This prevents accidental activation and preserves battery life. Tips for Optimal Use Start Low and Go Slow: Delta 8 THC can produce psychoactive effects. If you're new to Delta 8 or vaping, start with a low dose and wait to see how it affects you before taking more. Maintenance: Keep your vape pen clean for the best performance. Regularly clean the mouthpiece and connection between the battery and cartridge. Storage: Store your Delta 8 vape pen at room temperature away from direct sunlight to preserve the oil's potency and the device's battery life. Legality: Check the legal status of Delta 8 THC in your area, as it varies by state and country. Conclusion Delta 8 vape pens offer a convenient and enjoyable way to experience the unique benefits of Delta 8 THC. By following this guide, you can ensure a safe and satisfying vaping experience. Remember to use responsibly, be mindful of the effects, and choose high-quality products from reputable sources. Whether you're seeking relaxation, euphoria, or therapeutic benefits, Delta 8 vape pens can provide a discreet and effective solution. By ML staff. Image courtesy of Unsplash.

  • How Long Does THC Stay in Your System?

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the psychoactive compound found in cannabis that produces the "high" sensation. Its duration in the body can vary significantly depending on several factors, including the frequency of use, the amount consumed, individual metabolism, and the type of drug test used. Understanding how long THC stays in your system is crucial for various reasons, including employment drug tests, legal issues, and personal health. This blog delves into the complexities of THC retention in the body and what influences its detectability. We recommend you to buy the best THC gummies from here https://cbdfx.com/collections/thc-gummies/. Factors Influencing THC Retention 1. Frequency of Use Occasional Users: For those who use cannabis infrequently, THC may be detectable for a shorter duration, typically a few days. Regular Users: In regular users, THC can accumulate in fat cells, leading to a longer detection window, sometimes lasting weeks or even months after the last use. 2. Dosage and Potency The amount of THC consumed and the potency of the cannabis product directly impact how long THC stays in the system. Higher doses and more potent forms of cannabis increase the duration THC remains detectable. 3. Metabolism and Body Fat Individual metabolism rates and body fat percentages also play significant roles. THC is lipophilic, meaning it binds to fat cells in the body. Individuals with higher body fat may retain THC longer, and those with faster metabolisms may process and eliminate THC more quickly. 4. Hydration and Diet Hydration levels and diet can influence THC metabolism. While staying hydrated and eating a healthy diet won't drastically reduce the time THC is detectable, dehydration and poor diet can potentially prolong it. Detection Windows by Test Type The detection window for THC varies by the type of drug test administered. Here are the most common types of tests and their typical detection windows: 1. Urine Testing Urine tests are the most common form of drug testing, especially for employment. THC can be detected in urine for: 3 days after single use Up to 7 days for moderate use 10-15 days for daily use More than 30 days for heavy use 2. Blood Testing THC is detectable in blood for a shorter period, typically up to 1-2 days after use. However, for heavy users, it might be found for up to 7 days. 3. Saliva Testing Saliva tests can detect THC from a few minutes up to 24-48 hours after use. This method is often used for roadside testing by law enforcement. 4. Hair Follicle Testing Hair tests have the longest detection window, with THC being detectable for up to 90 days. This test is less common and typically used for detecting long-term drug use. Reducing THC Levels in Your System While time is the only surefire way to eliminate THC from your system, certain methods may help expedite the process, such as: Increasing water intake to help flush out toxins Engaging in regular exercise to boost metabolism and burn fat Eating a healthy diet rich in antioxidants Legal Implications and Employment Concerns One of the primary concerns regarding how long THC stays in the system relates to legal and employment issues. Many employers require drug testing as part of their hiring process or maintain a drug-free workplace policy. In jurisdictions where cannabis is legal, the presence of THC in a drug test still poses a dilemma for employees and job seekers, as failing a drug test can lead to disciplinary actions or loss of employment opportunities. Understanding the detection windows of THC is crucial for individuals in these areas to navigate their legal and professional landscapes effectively. Psychological and Physical Health Considerations Beyond legal and employment concerns, the presence of THC in the system can have implications for both psychological and physical health. For some, the psychoactive effects of THC, such as anxiety or paranoia, may linger longer than the initial high, especially in individuals with a predisposition to these conditions. Physically, while cannabis is often touted for its therapeutic benefits, chronic use can lead to changes in brain chemistry, affecting memory, concentration, and mood. Recognizing the duration THC can stay in the system is important for those using cannabis, allowing them to make informed decisions about their consumption patterns. Detoxification Myths and Realities The internet is rife with products and home remedies claiming to rapidly detoxify the body of THC, promising quick fixes to pass drug tests. However, many of these methods are unproven and potentially unsafe. Detox teas, supplements, and other products often lack scientific backing and can sometimes lead to adverse health effects. The most effective and safe way to reduce THC levels in the body is through natural processes—time, hydration, a balanced diet, and exercise. Individuals should be wary of quick fixes and instead focus on responsible consumption and allowing the body to metabolize THC naturally. Conclusion The duration THC remains detectable in your system varies widely among individuals and depends on several factors, including usage habits, metabolism, and the type of test being used. Understanding these factors can help individuals better navigate the complexities surrounding THC detection and make informed decisions about their cannabis use. However, it's important to remember that the most reliable way to clear THC from your system is simply to allow time for your body to metabolize and eliminate the compound naturally. By ML staff. • ‘Car Seats That Care’

National Junior Honor Society students at Falcon Cove Middle School in Weston have been busy selling Domino’s coupon cards, but it’s not because they’re hungry for pizza. Falcon Cove Middle School National Junior Honor Society Students used the discount cards to fuel a fundraising campaign for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation. Their efforts resulted in a $5,000 donation that will be used to purchase car seats for needy families that wouldn’t otherwise have a safe way to transport small children. Donation Check “We see lots of children that come that are injured and their families don’t have an age-appropriate car seat installed, either because they don’t have the financial resources or the knowledge of their importance,” said Dr. Oliver Lao, medical director for pediatric trauma at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. “It can be a vicious cycle when kids don’t have a car seat to keep them safe after being discharged from the hospital and injuries keep happening.” Dr. Lao, whose daughter, Isabella, is the president of the National Junior Honor Society at Falcon Cove, says it’s the goal of the “Car Seats that Care” program that every child leaves the children’s hospital in a properly-fitted, properly installed car seat. This is the fourth consecutive year Falcon Cove honor society students have made a $5,000 donation during the time the school has participated in the Joe DiMaggio All-Stars program. Previous contributions have supported the pediatric facility’s expansion, equipment used in its Child Life Zone, art, and bibliotherapy programs. “The kids at our school are very selfless and very giving,” said Stella Stringer, the faculty advisor to Falcon Cove’s honor society. “They just want to help kids, so it’s very easy for them to be motivated and inspired to help Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital because they’ve been treated there, know of someone who has, or know the reputation of the hospital.” Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital & Falcon Cove Middle School reps Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital (www.jdch.com) is one of the nation’s leading pediatric hospitals, offering a comprehensive scope of healthcare services and programs in a caring, compassionate setting designed specifically for children. A level one trauma center, it combines advanced technology, the expertise of board-certified specialists, and a patient and family-centered approach to heal the body, mind, and spirit of those it touches.
