  • Miami Dolphins Announce Tim Bowens as Next Member of Team's Ring of Honor

The Miami Dolphins announced today that former defensive tackle Tim Bowens has been selected as the 28th member of the team's Ring of Honor. Bowens, the first addition to the prestigious group in 10 years, will be formally inducted into the Ring of Honor the final weekend of October, when the Dolphins host the Arizona Cardinals, with a special halftime ceremony. "Tim Bowens was the epitome of a team player who performed at an elite level for a long period of time, allowing both his teammates and the Miami Dolphins to be successful," said Tom Garfinkel, Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Miami Dolphins. "From the day he was drafted until the day he retired, Tim was a warrior in the trenches. His selfless, dependable and physical style of play is a big reason why his teammates also found success, most notably Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas, who are now enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. We are excited to recognize Tim later this season and cement him where he belongs, among the all-time greats in Miami Dolphins history." Bowens played his entire 11-year NFL career with Miami from 1994-2004. His toughness and durability were remarkable at one of the game's most physical positions. Bowens' 157 games played are 14th-most in Dolphins history. His 155 career starts rank sixth in team history and are the most by an interior defensive lineman. Bowens played 104 straight games between the 1994 and 2000 seasons, which is tied for the 10th-longest streak by a Dolphin. His 92 consecutive games started between 1994 and 1999 is the fifth-longest streak in team history. Drafted 20th overall by Miami in the 1994 NFL Draft, Bowens made an immediate impact. He started as a rookie in Week 1 and won the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year award at the end of the season. Bowens totaled 407 career tackles (296 solo) and 22.0 sacks as an interior defensive lineman. He had nine forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, one interception and 21 passes defensed. He was selected to two Pro Bowls following the 1998 and 2002 seasons. Bowens was added to the franchise's Walk of Fame in 2012 and named to the Miami Dolphins 50th Season All-Time Team in 2015. • Fighting Fascism in the Factory: The Revolutionary Lives of Women Cigar Workers at The Wolfsonian–FIU

At the turn of the 20th century, a wave of leftist, radical, working-class women and men traveled from prerevolutionary Cuba to Florida, turning Ybor City into the global capital of the Cuban cigar industry. In this talk, historian Sarah McNamara tells the story of immigrant and American-born Latinas from this "Cigar City" who organized strikes, marched against fascism, and criticized U.S. foreign policy. To these women, cigar work provided more than a wage—it created a pathway to a more just world. After the talk, stay for a book signing of the author's latest release, Ybor City: Crucible of the Latina South (2023), and visit our installation Smoke Signals: Cigar Cutters and Masculine Values . Prior to his role on the Board of Directors, Patti served on the Advisory Board.   Noonautics’ mission is to build and foster networks of serious academics, researchers and scientists, helping connect and fund research outside the standard academic parameters. From machine learning and psychedelics to the far-off origins of religion and consciousness, Noonautics is developing resources to connect experts in the field, to explore the profound implications of these innovations.   In his new role, Patti will work closely with the Board of Directors on the day-to-day operations of Noonautics to support its mission. He will assist in deciding what projects are the most inspiring and result in the biggest impact, bringing to bear the resources to accomplish them. Patti will contribute his insight into the field of psychedelics and lend his expertise to breakthrough psychedelic therapy. MY Self Wellness has experience helping its clients get off pharmaceuticals and move past the symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, chronic pain and more.  Patti, who credits psychedelic medicine for his own healing journey, has personal experience using DMT. This experience helped guide him to quitting a six-year opiate addiction and provided a path forward to help others on their own journeys of healing.   MY Self Wellness specializes in breakthrough experiences by offering IM (intramuscular) ketamine. The goal of the IM ketamine treatment is to create a non-ordinary or altered state of consciousness to facilitate a profound transpersonal (transcendental, mystical or spiritual) peak experience. IM ketamine combined with talk therapy has helped our clients overcome feelings of depression, anxiety, PTSD and more. In my role at Noonautics, we will expand our research on IM ketamine therapy and continue to change the mental health paradigm,” he continued.   “We are thrilled to welcome Charles Patti to the Board of Directors at Noonautics,” said Founder and Director Patrick Struhar, DC. “Charles is a highly respected leader in the wellness industry, and his work at MY Self Wellness helping thousands of people find healing through breakthrough psychedelics is truly inspiring. MY Self Wellness is the first ketamine clinic in Florida to accept Enthea.   In an effort to break the stigma surrounding psychedelic medicine, Thomas and Patti recently launched the MY Self Wellness podcast . In the groundbreaking series, hosts Thomas and Patti embark on a transformative journey into the frontiers of mental health, healing and wellness through intimate and life-changing conversations with industry leaders.
