  • Pérez Fights Back For Hungarian Grand Prix Top-10 Finish As Tsunoda Also Shines

Oracle Red Bull Racing's Sergio Pérez powered through the field at the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday to bag seventh place and join Dutch teammate Max Verstappen with an important points finish. The Mexican started 16th on the grid, however put pedal to the metal to slice through the field and claim six points as reigning three-time Formula One champion Verstappen earned 10 in fifth. Visa Cash App RB's Yuki Tsunoda also finished in the points thanks to his ninth spot, while Australian teammate Daniel Ricciardo was not far behind in 12th at the Hungaroring circuit. QUOTES Oracle Red Bull Racing MAX VERSTAPPEN - 5th "Today was a tough race for us so naturally that frustrated me as I want things to be better. If you look at the whole race I don't think we were fast enough; we unfortunately just didn't have the pace and the strategy wasn't working for us today. The high temperatures on the track also meant that the tyres overheated, especially when we were trying to overtake throughout the race, which was very tough. We got stuck behind cars and let ourselves get undercut and I think we just didn't have our best day. We had to fight our way back and lost so much time that we lost touch with both the McLarens. As the pace of the car wasn't as good, we really needed to capitalise on the strategy and we just didn't manage to do that today. I need to look back at what happened with Lewis but I committed to the move and I don't think I braked too late but we collided. I don't think we could have beaten McLaren today but, from qualifying yesterday, I did think that P3 was on the cards, so it is a disappointing day all in all." SERGIO PEREZ - 7th "I think that was the maximum we could achieve today; overtaking was impossible in the first stint on the hard. It was an aggressive strategy to begin on the hard and it worked well for us, from the start it was about putting it all together, making the right calls and the right progress. My Team had to rebuild the car overnight and it was not one hundred percent on set-up, some correlation was off, so it's positive I was able to feel at one with the car today and I am getting the feeling back, this is a good boost of confidence. The Team did an incredible job to get the car on track today after my crash, I need to maximise my own performance to match their hard work. The only thing that matters to me is my Team and the people working with me, I have to give my very best to them because they deserve it. I am here keeping my head down; I will keep improving and get back to my form. I think we have the pace to fight at the front, we showed it today and it is just a matter of time until we are back on the podium." CHRISTIAN HORNER - CEO and Team Principal "It didn't work out for us today. We seemed to have understeer and then losing that position at the start and conceding back to Lando affected us. We tried giving an overlap to give Max the pace but to no avail. The middle sector, in parts of the race was where we were looking competitive but there is plenty for us to look at to try and see how we can improve and come back stronger next weekend. Checo drove a good race today and his strategy, getting the undercut on George, worked well. He also showed good pace, made good overtakes and hopefully would have taken some good confidence from that for a strong performance in Spa." Visa Cash App RB YUKI TSONUDA - 9th "First of all, huge thanks to the mechanics and team who spent the night and this morning repairing my car in time for the race. It wasn't easy after such a big crash and we had to change a lot of things, but because of their hard work we were able to score the points today - huge credit to the whole team. I'm very relieved I was able to make up for it after yesterday's crash and particularly happy with my tyre management. I think it was a big race for us, especially as we were able to finish ahead of our competitors, and it's a huge positive for the coming races." DANIEL RICCIARDO - 12th "Today it was a long and frustrating race. We didn't use the pace we had in the clear air. We were on the mediums at the start of the race and after only a few laps we pitted for new hards together with the other cars who started on softs, coming out in traffic. It's even more frustrating because we were quick all weekend, and I felt like we have taken ourselves out of the race so early as we couldn't fight cars that were coming much quicker on newer tyres." GUILLAUME DEZOTEUX - Head of Vehicle Performance "Yuki finished P9 and brought us two precious points which reward the hard work the team has put in overnight repairing his car from the crash yesterday in qualifying. Both cars had a good start but lost positions to the soft runners in the opening laps. Some cars started to pit early, and we reacted with Daniel, which put him in heavy traffic and did not allow him to use his pace. Anticipating his second stop allowed us to gain a few positions back and Daniel could show good lap times, but it wasn't enough to end up in the points for him and he finished P12. With Yuki, we decided to extend the first stint. His good tyre management and the consistency of lap times opened the possibility of doing a one-stop race, which is what we went for. This strategy allowed us to beat the two Aston Martins which is a great achievement, concluding this weekend on a high note." LAURENT MEKIES - Team Principal "Over the past few weeks, everyone in Faenza and Bicester worked hard and effectively, delivering the upturn in performance we witnessed here in Hungary. Getting both cars into Q3 was proof of that, once again heading the midfield and the points we picked up today are a well-deserved reward for all that effort. Yuki's race was sensational, and we were the only car daring to do a one-stop race, which allowed us to beat not only the midfield runners but also both Aston Martins. Yuki's tyre management was second to none, and he made it stick to the end. The team also did a truly remarkable job in a short space of time by rebuilding Yuki's car around a new chassis following his Q3 crash. Unfortunately, we got it wrong with Daniel and pitted him too early in heavy traffic, which lost him a chance to fight for points. His pace had been extremely strong all weekend long, and he demonstrated that again in the final stint of the race when he was finally able to find some free air and fight his way back. We certainly share his frustration, and we will learn and come back stronger next week. Now we move on to Spa, a very different challenge to the Hungaroring. We go there with the positives of our strong weekend here and will push very hard to get our car to work as best it can at this fast and flowing track." By ML Staff. We sail on the Bay of Marseille in the Mediterranean Sea, a “satellite venue,” about 500 miles south of Paris. Each class completes their regatta on a “course” outlined using buoys. This is the third time the Olympics will be held in Paris: first in 1900, then in 1924, and now 2024. In 1900 and 1924, sailing events were held in both the Seine and the English Channel / Atlantic. Marseille was selected for 2024 due to its exceptional sailing conditions, featuring a strong characteristic seasonal breeze, the “Mistral.” There are four race areas on the Bay of Marseille, all named after cities or geographical features around the area: “Corniche,” “Marseille,” “Frioul,” and “Calanques.” Separate race areas allow multiple fleets to compete on the water at the same time. Within each area, the competitors will all race on the same “course” outlined by buoys. Each type of course has a name; the one below and to the right is called an “Inner Trapezoid.” The first boat/board around the buoys and through the finish line is the winner of that race, with multiple races constituting a regatta. The race winner receives one point for that race, second place receives two points, and so on. The boat/board with the fewest overall points at the end of the regatta wins the event. • The Sober Curious Movement: Why It’s Time to Redefine Our Relationship with Alcohol

The sober curious movement is gaining momentum as more people question their drinking habits and explore life without alcohol. This trend encourages individuals to rethink their relationship with alcohol, focusing on the benefits of sobriety without necessarily committing to complete abstinence. Find out what it means to be sober curious, the reasons behind this growing trend, and how to redefine our relationship with alcohol for a healthier lifestyle. A group of friends having coffee Understanding the Sober Curious Movement The sober curious movement  is not about quitting alcohol altogether but rather about choosing to drink less or not at all in social situations. It’s about being mindful of the role alcohol plays in our lives and making conscious decisions about when and why we drink. This movement is appealing to a broad audience, including those who do not identify as having a drinking problem but are curious about the benefits of reducing or eliminating alcohol from their lives. The Rise of the Trend Several factors contribute to the rise of this trend. Health and wellness are at the forefront, with many people becoming more aware of how alcohol impacts their physical and mental well-being. Additionally, a growing cultural shift toward mindfulness and intentional living  encourages people to make healthier lifestyle choices. Social media and the influence of public figures who advocate for sobriety or reduced drinking also play a significant role. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have communities where people share their sober curious journeys, creating a supportive environment for those looking to make a change. Healthier lifestyle environments are redefining our relationship with alcohol Benefits of Redefining Our Relationship with Alcohol Improved Physical Health Reducing or eliminating alcohol consumption can lead to numerous health benefits. These include better sleep, increased energy levels, and improved liver function. Alcohol is also linked to several long-term health risks, such as heart disease and certain cancers. By cutting back, you may reduce your risk of these serious conditions. Enhanced Mental Well-Being Alcohol can negatively impact mental health, exacerbating conditions like anxiety and depression. By drinking less, individuals often experience improved mood, reduced anxiety, and a clearer mind. The sober curious movement encourages people to seek healthier ways to cope with stress and emotions. Better Relationships Alcohol can sometimes strain relationships due to behaviors like irritability, aggression, or neglecting responsibilities. By reducing alcohol intake, many people find their relationships improve as they are more present and engaged with their loved ones. Financial Savings Alcohol can be expensive, especially if you frequently drink at bars or restaurants. Cutting back on alcohol can lead to significant financial savings , allowing you to invest in other areas of your life, such as hobbies, travel, or wellness activities. How to Start Your Sober Curious Journey Reflect on Your Drinking Habits The first step in redefining our relationship with alcohol is to reflect on our current drinking habits. Consider why and when you drink. Are there specific triggers or social situations that lead to drinking? Understanding your patterns can help you make more mindful choices. Set Clear Intentions Decide what you want to achieve by drinking less. This could be for health reasons, to improve your mental well-being, or to save money. Setting clear intentions will give you a sense of purpose and motivation. Find Alternatives One of the challenges of reducing alcohol consumption is finding enjoyable alternatives. Explore non-alcoholic beverages like sparkling water, herbal teas, or mocktails. Many bars and restaurants now offer a variety of non-alcoholic options, making it easier to socialize without alcohol. There are many alternatives to alcohol that you can enjoy Seek Support Whether through friends, family, or online communities, having a support system can make your sober curious journey easier. Share your goals with others and seek encouragement and accountability. Practice Mindfulness Mindfulness can help you stay present and make intentional choices about drinking. Techniques such as meditation, journaling, or yoga can support your mental and emotional well-being. Be Patient with Yourself Redefining our relationship with alcohol is a process that takes time. Be patient and compassionate with yourself as you navigate this journey. It's okay to have setbacks; what's important is to stay committed to your goals and learn from your experiences. What if Professional Support and Guidance are Necessary? For some individuals, especially those with a history of heavy drinking or dependence, reducing or eliminating alcohol consumption can be challenging without professional support. In such cases, seeking help from an alcohol rehab facility  can provide the necessary resources and structured environment to navigate sobriety successfully. These facilities offer medical supervision, counseling, and tailored programs that address both the physical and psychological aspects of alcohol dependence, making it easier for individuals to transition into a sober curious (or any other preferred) lifestyle. Sober Curious Resources and Communities There are many resources available for those interested in the sober curious movement. Online communities on social media platforms provide support and inspiration from others on a similar path. Joining local or virtual sober curious groups can also be beneficial. These groups often host events, workshops, and social gatherings that focus on wellness and connection without alcohol. Redefining Social Norms Around Drinking A significant aspect of the sober curious movement is challenging societal norms around alcohol consumption. In many cultures, drinking is deeply ingrained in social rituals and celebrations. Individuals can help shift these norms by choosing to drink less and creating more inclusive environments for those who prefer not to drink. This change also involves redefining what it means to have fun and connect with others. Activities that don't revolve around alcohol, such as hiking, cooking classes, or art workshops, can provide meaningful and enjoyable experiences. Enjoy fun activities with friends that don’t involve drinking The Future of the Sober Curious Movement As the sober curious movement continues to grow, it's likely to have a lasting impact on how society views alcohol. With increasing awareness of the benefits of reducing alcohol consumption and more people embracing this lifestyle, we may see a shift towards healthier, more mindful ways of living. The Takeaway The sober curious movement invites us to redefine our relationship with alcohol, promoting mindfulness and intentionality in our choices. By exploring the benefits of drinking less and finding new ways to enjoy life without alcohol, we can improve our physical health, mental well-being , relationships, and financial stability. Embracing the sober curious lifestyle is a personal journey, and finding what works best for you is important. Whether you're looking to cut back or eliminate alcohol, taking steps toward a more mindful approach can lead to a happier, healthier life. By ML Staff. Images courtesy of Pexels

This year, the tradition continues as three players from the Sunshine State; Coco Gauff, Danielle Collins, and Austin Krajicek, are set to represent the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games .   Qualifying for the Olympic team is an achievement in itself. First off, players must be in good standing with the USTA both on and off the courts. They also need to have represented the United States in either the Davis Cup or Billie Jean King Cup . Coco Gauff, Danielle Collins, and Austin Krajicek have all met these requirements and will wear red, white, and blue on the national stage.   Coco Gauff won the French Open Doubles earlier this year in France. Coco Gauff has had a great first half of 2024. Building on her 2023 US Open win , Gauff claimed victory at the ASB Classic, in January, for the second consecutive year. With a remarkable record of 20-1 in sets during this streak at that tournament, this was her seventh career singles title. She also triumphed at the French Open in Women’s Doubles alongside Katerina Siniakova, adding her first Grand Slam title in Doubles. She will look to recreate this success on the same courts at the 2024 Paris games. Danielle Collins, who announced that 2024 would be her final year on the WTA tour, is looking to ride off into the sunset. From her beginnings in junior tennis capturing multiple wins at the Bobby Curtis Junior State Championship, Collins has always been a standout. In her farewell year, she achieved back-to-back victories at the Miami Open and the Credit One Charleston Open, hoisting a 13-win streak in that time.  Finally, Austin Krajicek, known best for his doubles mastery, brings a ton of experience. Last year, Krajicek won the French Open, his first Doubles Grand Slam title of his career.  Austin Krajicek has had success in Paris, winning the 2023 French Open Doubles. Historically, Florida has been home to some top names in Olympic tennis. Jennifer Capriati made headlines with her gold medal win in women’s singles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics at 16. She defeated the legendary Steffi Graf.  Mary Joe Fernandez is another Florida tennis legend at the Olympics. She captured back-to-back Gold Medals in 1992 and 1996 in the Women’s Doubles. Mardy Fish made his mark at the 2004 Athens Olympics delivering an exceptional performance and secured silver.   As the 2024 Paris Olympic Games approach, anticipation and excitement are growing. The future of Florida Olympic tennis looks bright with stars like Gauff, Collins, and Krajicek leading the charge.
