Over 200 people attended  American Heritage Schools ’  inaugural high school Business Incubator Pitch Challenge, where five finalist student-created companies presented to a distinguished panel of high-profile judges and vied for a chance to secure investments and recognition as top innovators. This culminating event took place on Monday, Nov. 25, at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel & Convention Center. These aspiring entrepreneurs, all enrolled in an advanced Business and Entrepreneurship curriculum modeled after Harvard Business Review materials, delivered polished pitches for their  s tudent-created companies, either incorporated and close to entering the market, demonstrating creativity and entrepreneurial spirit in the competition finals. The finals came after a year of preparation. The students, all Class of 2025 seniors, spent the full year developing their business ideas, starting in October 2023, in preparation for this competitive event. Earning first place was GastroGrid, a service company that aims to connect restaurants to produce distributors, which was founded by students Lucas Correa Penna Siqueira, Diego Higueras, Carlos Margenat Ausere and Gino Santos. Second place was awarded to Nixie, a premium model of ink that is not just eco-friendly but also visually vibrant and user-friendly for art, created by students Zohar Eshet, Christina Li, Phoebe Shatkin, Matthew Wang and Catherine Zhao. The third-place team was MinuteAid Clinic, a pop-up/mobile-free clinic that would service local uninsured or underinsured families, which included students Sebastian Estrada, Iris Fan, Calvin Mathew, and Likhitha Selvan. The event started with an introduction from Dr. Douglas Laurie, president of American Heritage Schools and Jonathan Fichman, business incubator instructor of the Business and Entrepreneurship Pre-Professional Program at American Heritage Schools. The students also benefitted from an in-depth Q&A with the judges, gaining practical advice and industry insights. Cash prizes and trophies were awarded to the top three teams, recognizing their hard work and innovation. The esteemed judges’ panel consisted of top-tier industry leaders bringing expertise from various sectors to evaluate the pitches. Judges included Rita Case, president and chief operating officer of Rick Case Automotive Group; Jim Ryan, founder and CEO of OutPLEX; Keith Mirchandani, CEO of Tristar Products; Richard B. Toren, co-creator of the Epi-Pen and entrepreneur-in-residence at Herbert Business School, University of Miami; and Tom Herskovits, former president and CEO of Specialty Foods and president of Kraft/General Foods. “My experience as a judge for the American Heritage  Business Incubator Pitch Challenge Finals was rewarding and exciting to witness the entrepreneurial and innovative skills being developed at American Heritage Schools,” said Case. “They are building our future leaders and supporting the idea that the ‘American Dream’ is available to all.” Herskovits stated, “The presentations showcased excellent strategic thinking. The teams demonstrated creativity and a solid understanding of market dynamics and consumer needs. The ideas presented will have an excellent chance of becoming sustainable businesses. The AP part of the class prepares students for the AP Seminar exam through steady research and analysis and cross-curricular conversations that explore the complexities of academic and real-world topics and issues by analyzing divergent perspectives. In this exclusive interview with Miami Living Magazine, we’re thrilled to sit down with the talented Andrea Laing. Well k nown for her standout role in Pain Hustlers   and her return as Zoe in the latest installment of Adult Swim's  Yule Log  franchise, Yule Log 2: Branchin' Out, Andrea has been captivating audiences with her dynamic performances.   With a background growing up in Jamaica and North Carolina, Andrea’s journey into acting and comedy is as diverse as her career credits, which also includes   True Lies ,   Dopesick , and   NCIS: New Orleans .   Join us as we explore Andrea's creative process, her exciting projects, and the inspirations behind her multifaceted career. Miami Living (ML): Andrea, it’s fantastic to have you with us today! Before we dive into your current projects and roles, can you tell us what first sparked your interest in acting, and how did you find your unique voice in such a competitive industry? Andrea: Hey friends! Thanks for having me, I’m so excited to be here and share some insights into my world! So I actually worked in the corporate sphere before jumping on camera. I was a Turner temp between CNN and Turner broadcasting, landed a full time job at Turner, which I definitely appreciated but something in me felt completely unfulfilled; definitely a rinse and repeat kind of scenario.  I was newer to Atlanta and was attending networking events and my friend Kristen Westerholder introduced me to the world of being a PA (Production Assistant.) She explained it would be unglamorous work, long hours, terrible pay, fairly laborious at times…. and I said sign me up! It was exhilarating and far different from what I was used to.  I worked behind the lens before performing in front, which I highly recommend to anyone joining the industry to gain a more profound appreciation and understanding of what they're getting themselves into  Per my unique voice - I didn’t try to stand out per se, I was always a bit different than everyone else already. There will never be anyone more you-ier than you.  When you remember your own unique set of traits, even your upbringing and experiences are different, you don’t need to be like anyone else. You have something to offer just as you are….. that was so Hallmarky. ML: Can you share a bit about your journey starting with having grown up in Jamaica and North Carolina?  What were some of the pivotal moments that led you to where you are now? Andrea: I don’t know if other first gen kids share this same experience, but I do believe having an awareness of being a foreigner and the ultra privilege of being American creates this unique paradox experience. My parents were fairly strict in the sense that they wanted the absolute best for their children. Seeing how hard my parents worked to afford the opportunities for my siblings and I humbled me in an incredible way. It was hard to veer from feeling like I was disappointing them by my decisions.  I had to find a balance between following what rang true to my soul. I learned the hard way to take chances, it’s how I’ve landed in some really cool spots, not only on set, but in life. I remember trying out for my first audiobook and not knowing what the actual hell I was doing. I had no formal training and honestly it was embarrassing, and naturally I was fired. But years later after getting my act together, putting in the time and work necessary, I've been nominated for an Audie Award. I have to laugh at myself sometimes.  ML: Your career includes roles in notable films and TV shows like "Pain Hustlers", "Atlanta", and "Dopesick". Is there a particular role or project that has been especially meaningful or challenging for you? Andrea: I worked on the mini series "Underground Railroad" with Barry Jenkins, which is now available on Criterion. I would have to say that experience was one of the most beautiful and yet challenging roles I have taken on. Beautiful in the sense that Barry is one of those unicorn humans everyone wishes to meet; so gifted, easy to work with, admiration for his vision, everything he touches turns to magic and he’s just an absolute gem of a human being. I was beyond honored to work on this Colson Whitehead adaptation. This was meaningful and challenging in the sense that I was able to contribute to such an important piece of art and history. It was c hallenging in subject material, also the wardrobe pieces were so solid and meticulous, and we were filming these scenes under the Savannah sun with these beautifully crafted hair pieces, so it was also physically taxing at times. The weight of the role will never be able to comparable to the weight of the world in that actual time period but I am beyond honored to have had the chance to contribute. ML: You’re reprising your role as Zoe in the upcoming installment of "Yule Log". How does it feel to step back into this character, especially given the success of the previous installment? Can you give us a hint of what fans might expect this time around? Andrea: I was in Europe at the time when the director,  Casper Kelly, reached out to tell me that he wrote the sequel and that he wanted to send it to me to see what I thought. About a month later, I happened to run into him at a separate table read where he mentioned wanting to send me the script  but somehow I didn’t receive his message… to which I replied…. "Casper, you never need permission to send me a script, please bombard forever with your writing!!" I can’t exactly put into words how fun and just incredible it was to work with such humble, hard working, intelligent teammates like Media Team, Adult Swim, Casper, Warner Brothers etc. It feels at home to be back as Zoe. It feels like unfinished business. It feels like I get to be a part of something so unique and funky that viewers won’t want to turn away from. If they know Casper’s work and if they saw the first installment, they know that they should hide their children.  Jk, but seriously… they probably should. But they will definitely be in for a trippy treat. ML: You've had some incredible globetrotting experiences as the face of Delta Airlines’ 2022 campaign. How have these international travels influenced your perspective on life and your career? Are there any specific destinations that left a lasting impression on you? Andrea: I think growing up with cultural influences gave me access to different perspectives on life. M y parents had their friends around or at outings, so I was never a stranger to travel or trying different foods. My first taste of working internationally was in 2014 when I traveled to the Philippines to work on a Sundance project. I feel more at home when traveling. It makes me remember how small I am and how limited our time on this rock really is. I have no kids, no husband, my cats are with their father, so while I have the opportunity to see, feel, hear and experience a different plateau, I want to be able to continue to take advantage of that.  Globetrotting expanded my limited beliefs on what is possible. I've always had a fondness for Italy. It’s hard to have a bad meal there.  Utrecht is just so damn magical and romantic. Sitting by the canal, sipping an aperol spritz, just taking in life. Amsterdam will always be pretty special for me ML: Given your vast experience in comedy, both in sketch and stand-up, what advice would you give to aspiring comedians trying to break into the industry? Andrea: Ah... I learned this the hard way. No one in my family has done this before me, so there was a lot of trial and error and luckily my parents were supportive of me exploring the arts before officially joining the entertainment industry.  You MUST get used to being uncomfortable and you MUST be comfortable with being embarrassed. I'm not sure if there’s any way around it. Take more risks. Take care of your mental health. Know when to say no. Keep a little notebook on your person and write down any and all things that bring you inspiration. Put yourself out there. Network. Make your own art-always. Volunteer. Give yourself grace. No one has it figured out and no one is getting out alive… which reminds me of a quote I tell loved  ones often (if you’ve heard this from me, that means you’re special): “you’re going to die one day.”  Just a gentle reminder to get out there and do all the things your heart desires.  Tell that person you love them and also call your mom, please.  ML: When you're not in the spotlight, you indulge in hobbies like writing, experimenting with new recipes, and even playing jazz for your plants. How do these creative outlets and relaxing activities contribute to your overall well-being? Andrea: I think living alone gives me the room and flexibility to do all the things I truly want to do and explore without having to answer to anyone but myself and I am aware of this precious gift. I think it’s so important to find pockets of calm and create an environment that promotes positive mental health. After experiencing the ongoing pandemic and strikes, I think most artists found it rather important to reinvent themself. That pocket gave us the space to reconsider the possibilities in a lot of ways, with work, health, loved ones.  Take care of yourself first and foremost so you can show up in other ways and for other people that also benefit the best and healed version of you ML: Finally, what’s next on the horizon for you? Are there any new projects or personal goals you’re excited about that you’d like to share with your fans?   Andrea: That’s a great question!! I'm also excited about what the future is going to deliver! The Miami Dolphins announced they have signed tackle Jackson Carman to the active roster off the practice squad and placed cornerback Cam Smith on the injured reserve list. The team also signed cornerback Jason Maitre to the practice squad. Carman signed to Miami's practice squad on Sept. 17, 2024 and has played in three games for the Dolphins. He has appeared in 25 career games with six starts in four seasons with Cincinnati (2021-23) and Miami (2024). He also appeared in seven postseason games with two starts with the Bengals. Carman originally entered the NFL as a second-round selection (46th overall) by Cincinnati in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played collegiately at Clemson (2018-20), where he appeared in 40 career games with 27 starts during his three seasons with the Tigers. Smith has appeared in 21 career games in two seasons with the Dolphins (2023-24), recording 18 tackles (four solo). He was selected by Miami in the second round (51st overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft out of South Carolina, where he was a four-year letterman (2019-22) and two-year starter. He played in 33 games with 19 starts for the Gamecocks and earned second-team All-SEC honors in 2021 and 2022. He led the team with 14 passes defensed in 2021. Smith intercepted six passes and had 24 passes defensed in his final three collegiate seasons (2020-22). Maitre entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Miami on May 14, 2024, and spent the offseason program and training camp with the Dolphins. He spent his final collegiate season at Wisconsin, where he played in 12 games with nine starts and totaled 33 tackles (24 solo), one interception and four passes defensed. Maitre transferred from Boston College, where he spent five years (2018-22) and tallied 133 tackles (86 solo), 4.0 sacks, three interceptions and 22 passes defensed in 44 games for the Eagles. Marking a decade since the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 was first introduced, Jaeger-LeCoultre presents a new interpretation of the ultra-thin minute repeater in a five-piece limited edition with a deep midnight-blue sunrayed dial in an 18k white gold case (750/1000). Universally acclaimed not only for its technical ambition but also for its aesthetic purity, the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 is testament to La Grande Maison’s inventiveness and exceptional watchmaking skill. It was, at the time of its launch, one of the world’s thinnest minute repeater wristwatch with a tourbillon in production, and it is still today Jaeger-LeCoultre’s thinnest minute repeater in collection, at 7.8 mm – all the more rare for being a high-complication movement with automatic winding. The Manufacture’s watchmakers have worked ceaselessly to redefine acoustic quality, by improving both the efficiency of the chiming mechanisms and the clarity and beauty of the sound being produced. The quest for precision has been a core value of La Grande Maison since it was founded in 1833 and has been pursued in two key areas. The first being the precision of production – enabling the miniaturisation of components and the development of ultra-thin calibres – and the second being the precision of timekeeping - through intensive research and innovation in the regulating organ, including the shape of hairsprings and different forms of tourbillon. The Maison’s distinguished history of ultra-thin watchmaking derives from its philosophy of always marrying technical sophistication to aesthetic refinement. A milestone in this development, which has inspired the continuing pursuit of thinness and elegance for more than a century, was the association between Edmond Jaeger and Jacques-David LeCoultre, which gave birth to one of the world’s thinnest pocket watch in 1907. A Masterpiece of Technical Sophistication Enhanced by Aesthetic Refinement The Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 represents eight separate patents, two for previous inventions related to chiming mechanisms – crystal gongs (2005) and trebuchet hammers (2009) – and six for inventions developed specifically for this timepiece: Flying balance wheel; Flying balance wheel in a flying tourbillon; S-shaped hairspring; Fixed winding stroke on the minute repeater; Retractable push-button on the minute repeater; Silent-timelapse reduction on the minute repeater. Achieving the goal of thinness required a complete re-think of the regulating organ and for Calibre 362, Jaeger-LeCoultre developed and patented a new form of flying tourbillon – one that is fitted with a flying balance wheel. This structure also required a re-think of the balance spring and the result is the patented S-shaped hairspring, which is fixed above the balance wheel, in full view of the observer. As well as reducing the overall thickness of the calibre, uncaging the tourbillon allowed for a larger balance wheel, which, with the oscillation rate of 21,600vph (unusually fast in a tourbillon movement with such a large balance wheel) creates greater stability and thus further enhances the precision of the timekeeping. Not only a technical feat, the design of the flying tourbillon brings an aesthetic benefit: with no bridge or upper cage, there is no visual impediment to the display of its mesmerising oscillations. To provide the convenience of automatic winding to the wearer, Calibre 362 was conceived as a self-winding movement. However, this required Jaeger-LeCoultre’s watchmakers to re-think the design of the winding rotor, which normally sits on top of the movement, adding thickness. Their solution – entirely new in such a high-complication wristwatch – was to develop a peripheral rotor. Encircling the calibre, it has a section in Platinum 950/1000 to create the necessary weight and is mounted on ceramic ball bearings to ensure that it swings freely, with minimal friction. This positioning of the rotor also has aesthetic benefits: it can be observed through the slots around the dial as it rotates, adding visual intrigue, while the view of the movement through the transparent sapphire case-back is completely unimpeded. Crystal gongs and trebuchet hammers enhance the quality of the chime. Being attached directly to the glass of the watch, the gongs turn the sapphire crystal into a resonator, exploiting the superior acoustic qualities of that material. The articulated hammers recoup the great majority of the energy lost in traditional minute repeater construction, thus enabling a chime of unprecedented strength. The watchmakers supplemented these elements with a new invention: silent-timelapse reduction. Integrated into the strike train, this reduces the pause between the chiming of the hours and minutes when there are no quarter-hours to be struck. In a traditional minute repeater, when there are no quarters to be struck, there is a lengthy pause between the chimes for the hours and the minutes; this new feature diminishes the silence and chimes the minutes rapidly after the hour strikes. Turning their attention to the aesthetics of the watch, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s engineers developed and patented a new mechanism to activate the minute repeater: a discreet unlocking button at 8 o’clock on the case side and a retractable push-button at 10 o’clock. When the locking button is moved, the pusher pops out; when the pusher is pressed in, the striking mechanism is activated and the pusher remains recessed until activated again, thus preserving the pure lines of the round case. This repeater activating system also delivers a performance benefit, enabling the case to be made water-resistant more easily. Water-resistant minute repeaters are rare indeed, and the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 is water-resistant to 3 bar. The Contrast of a Midnight-Blue Dial and Polished White Gold Case At 41mm diameter and just 7.8 mm thick, the case of the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 was inspired by the elegance of the Maison’s early 20th-century ultra-thin pocket-watches – in particular the 1907 couteau (knife) pocket watch. The Manufacture chose white gold because of the metal’s superior acoustic qualities and, in the new interpretation of the timepiece, the midnight blue sunrayed dial contrasts dramatically with the hand-polished bezel, sides and tapering lugs. Against the deep blue background, the simplicity of the dial indications also pays subtle tribute to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s historic pocket watches: elongated Dauphine hands, hours marked with simple batons and minutes marked by white dots. Haute Horlogerie finishes abound, including Côtes de Genève on certain bridges, and hand-bevelling, with the characteristically sharp internal angles bearing testimony to the Métiers RaresTM atelier’s craftsmen’s skill and attention to detail. Further evidence of that attention to detail is evident on the dial side, where sections of the peripheral oscillating weight have been delicately snailed. 2024 USPA Women's Arena Handicap Champions: Wild Dog Polo - Stephanie Colburn, Tiamo Hudspeth, Verity English. Hosted by Legends Polo Club in Kaufman, Texas, the USPA Women’s Arena Handicap final concluded on Sunday, November 24, in a battle between Wild Dog Polo (Verity English, Stephanie Colburn*, Tiamo Hudspeth*) and Legends Polo Club (Megan Rahlfs, Cara Kennedy, Wendy Stover). Fresh off a victory in the USPA Women’s Arena Open at Orange County Polo Club (Silverado, California), Colburn and Hudspeth carried their chemistry and momentum to the Lone Star State alongside new addition English to earn Wild Dog Polo’s second consecutive 2024 national title. “It’s seeing a lot of hard work over the years finally come to a pinnacle moment. […] There’s really been a lot of growth over the years playing arena polo — getting the horses, training the horses to this point, having team chemistry, and being able to practice and play together, all those things really came together for us today.”  – Wild Dog Polo’s Stephanie Colburn Reflecting on an action-packed fall season spanning multiple clubs across the country, Colburn elaborated on her bond with Hudspeth, “I board my horses at her facility, so we see each other just about every day. We ride together, we practice together, we played the [USPA] Women’s Arena Open together, we played in the [Southwestern Circuit] Women’s Challenge in Houston [Texas] last week. We have really just been building on our team chemistry together and getting our horses right.” Adjusting Wild Dog Polo’s roster from California to the 7- to 12-goal level of the USPA Women’s Arena Handicap, Colburn continued, “The first person I thought of was Verity. She’s very strong for her handicap. She’s a lovely person, she’s well mounted, she has a great support network. She checked all the boxes for me and I’m so happy that she wanted to play with Tiamo and I.” Honing her skills at clubs across Texas, English shared her experience joining Wild Dog Polo, “The opportunity to play this tournament, especially with Stephanie and Tiamo was just one that I could not pass up. […] I learned so much from them throughout the games. Tiamo’s coaching is second to none and Stephanie is unstoppable. We just had a really good mix for some magic on our team.” Jumping to an early lead, back-to-back goals from Hudspeth and Colburn opened the scoring in favor of Wild Dog Polo. Responding with fervor, Rahlfs scored five goals in the chukker, including three penalty conversions and a two-pointer to give Legends Polo Club a 5-4 edge. Capping off a high-scoring first half, Colburn and Hudspeth were back on the attack, capitalizing on both open play and penalty opportunities. Outscoring their opponents in the second chukker, Wild Dog Polo limited Legends Polo Club to a single goal from Rahlfs to take a narrow 8-6 lead at the break. Relaying the importance of preparation entering the final, English expressed, “We had gone over set plays and we knew every decision was already made before the play presented itself to us, so we always knew where to be and what our job was on those set plays, those penalties, those knock-ins. That really helped us to get in the position to move the ball down the arena. But they definitely made it hard on us to get it in that goal.” Following a goal from Kennedy to kick-start the second half for Legends Polo Club, the team in blue continued their charge, with the Colburn and Hudspeth duo adding five in the chukker to widen the lead 13-8. Overpowering Legends Polo Club once more in the fourth period, a final goal from English sealed Wild Dog Polo’s 16-9 triumph. Leading Legends Polo Club with eight goals in the final, Megan Rahlfs was named Most Valuable Player for her standout performance. The Sportsmanship Award was presented to Grand Central Polo Club's Bobbi Anderson for her continued positive attitude, fairness and support for her peers on and off the field. Best Playing Pony was awarded to Varro, played and owned by Tiamo Hudspeth. “He really changes my whole game,” said Hudspeth, “Whenever I get on him, he changes my whole level. He’s super quick and has so much heart. I started on him in the first, then I played him half a chukker in the third and came back on him in the fourth for half a chukker. He played a chukker and a half for me today and he really made a difference.” English detailed Wild Dog Polo’s celebration plans, “Lots of pictures with our ponies. There’s a lot of appreciation for the horses, they did so much good work for all of us. 1. Both the HEAT and Lakers have had losses they wish they could get back in recent weeks, Miami losers of three of their past five and Lakers losers of five of their past seven. When teams enduring similar stretches like that meet, you’ll often see one of get right during the matchup while the other leaves still in search of traction. There is zero doubt which team was which tonight. Good LeBron James – he’s about to turn 40 in a few weeks – minutes to start this one, scoring all six of Los Angeles’ first points, but after a couple misses the HEAT started finding each and every three that didn’t fall the other night in Boston. Coupled with a series of somewhat ugly Lakers turnovers and before anyone could catch their breath Miami was up 23-9. Bench rotations showed a little life for the visitors but it didn’t get much better from there, Miami up 34-26 after the first quarter thanks to seven threes, four steals and six offensive boards. Nights like this are always interesting because Miami was shooting so well it almost covered up anything else they were doing. Were they playing that much better than they had in Toronto or Boston, or were they just making half of their threes (11-of-22 at one point before the half, 11-of-24 at the half)? It’s a question worth asking yourself when it comes to the big picture to try and capture meaningful trends, but in the short term in doesn’t matter much at all. You enjoy the upswings in percentages knowing they just as much outliers as the slower nights and you enjoy the success that comes with them. While the Lakers were being held together by James and mostly only James in the first half on both sides of the floor – he sniffed out a number of HEAT actions to create stops and steals where otherwise the Lakers were in search of multiple efforts – the HEAT ran their stuff, hit their shots and had a 69-52 advantage at the break, four starters in double figures including Bam Adebayo (6-of-7 for 14 points). The Lakers opened their comeback bid in the second half with Anthony Davis trying to isolate Adebayo on consecutive possessions, which didn’t go well, and two Tyler Herro threes later Miami’s lead was back up over 20. Teams could always go hot or cold at any points, but the HEAT remained the team playing with more life and getting better, easier looks. A few minutes later, Herro (31 points on 19 shots) had hit his fifth three of the period, Miami was up 25 and the Lakers weren’t showing much signs of an imminent comeback effort. Herro kept it up, and so did the Lakers in the opposite direction, Herro up to seven threes in the period and Miami up 30. Both sides played out the string from there, all drama left far behind. Miami hit a couple of franchise records, tied for threes with 24 and a new record in assists with 42, as they secured a 41-point victory, 134-93. It was, quite literally, the best game you could have possibly expected coming into it. 2. We’ve noted this a couple times already this season but one of the most encouraging aspects with the way Herro is playing this season, within the parameters of his new shot profile goals, is that he hasn’t changed his process when the game isn’t going his way. Herro was 4-of-11 in the first half but eight of those attempts were threes with the rest in the paint, exactly the profile he’s set his sights on. The make or miss of it all didn’t get to him and when many of the same shots came his way – created for him, created by him, often both at the same time via his movement off the ball – in the third quarter he kept to the same process, hit seven threes in the quarter and wrapped up the game almost on the spot. An incredible quarter to add to what has been the best season of his career. That third-quarter performance was also glimpse into where the Lakers are, having the opposite of a get-right night. There aren’t many teams in the league that are going to allow Herro (9-of-16 from three) to have seven attempts from three in any quarter, and there certainly aren’t many teams that are going to give him the quality of looks he was getting even after two, three or four makes in a row, with Lakers defenders going under on screens and giving Herro plenty of space. Those coverage calls likely weren’t the intention of the team but when you’re playing discombobulated, with players not on the same page, you’re going to make mistakes no matter what you talked about in a practice, shootaround, film session or timeout huddle. The HEAT may not always be playing their best, but they generally play to the same identity, to the same plan, as best they can, each night. And when a player is hurting them the way Herro was hurting the Lakers, they get the ball out of their hands. 3. When you surpass franchise records in assists and threes you probably aren’t going to need to go over the game tape with a fine-tooth comb, but there is a brief comparison we’d like to make. Adebayo clearly hasn’t been happy with his offensive production of late as he’s been below 40 percent from the floor in all his last four games. He could have come out tonight trying to prove something against one of his most direct competitors for Defensive Player of the Year in any season, but Adebayo played the entire game in the flow, getting to 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go with 10 rebounds and seven assists in just 25 minutes. Nothing forced, just what needed to be done to secure the win. A little different circumstances on the Lakers side of things where they don’t necessarily have the supplementary offensive creation to rely on to always get Anthony Davis going, but it was particularly stark when the Lakers, down double digits and trying to find the energy to spark a comeback, opened the third quarter with static Davis attacks, isolations and post-ups, going right at Adebayo and missing both shots. There are clearly some things going on with the Lakers beyond the understanding of those who don’t follow them game to game, but it was a bit of a microcosm of the evening that Miami’s center put his own struggles aside and helped his team get right while the Lakers, when teetering on the edge, had nothing else but Davis (3-of-14 for eight points) forcing the issue against the worst matchup on the floor.
