This complexity gives our fragrances their distinctive character." - Serapian Celebrates Mestieri D'Arte at Fuorisalone 2025
Serapian presents a new project created in collaboration with Bethan Laura Wood, unveiled at Villa Mozart during Fuorisalone 2025 in Milan. Titled Mosaico Bokashi Landscape, the collaboration interprets Serapian’s exquisite Metiers D’Art through the unique lens of the British designer’s work, and it is staged within the company’s HQ at Villa Mozart, an architectural masterpiece by legendary Milanese architect Piero Portaluppi. The project revolves around a paravent made of three interlocking screens, featuring Serapian’s iconic Mosaico motif and Wood’s exquisite flair for colour and composition, resulting in an extraordinary object that weaves design and craft. The Mosaico Bokashi Landscape paravent is on view at Villa Mozart as part of this year’s Doppia Firma, an annual initiative pairing contemporary creatives and exclusive craft, led by Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte with Living Corriere della Sera, under the patronage of the Michelangelo Foundation. The creation highlights Serapian’s Mosaico Mestieri d’Arte weaving technique, where strips of nappa leather are woven to create different colour patterns. The composition draws inspiration from the Japanese Bokashi technique, a woodblock printing technique used to achieve gradual shading from dark to light hues. Used by Wood in previous projects and part of her ongoing research on colour techniques, the woodblock expands the possibilities of leather weaving, adding a new depth to Serapian’s Mosaico. Serapian has been experimenting with chiaroscuro in its creations, which inspired Wood to develop a multilayered, experimental colour composition. The shades of Wood’s palette are combined with classic Serapian off-white, and include burnt orange and yellow, green, lilac and cornflower blue, blended with extreme precision to create an exquisite effect. The experience of colour is paramount to Wood’s work, and with this collaboration Serapian was able to bring this approach to a large, textured scale. Japan has been an inspiration for both Wood and Serapian, and this piece pays homage to the country’s distinctive aesthetic and culture. Shaped like a mountainous Japanese landscape, the screen is made by Serapian’s Bespoke atelier, using hundreds of leather strips woven to a gradient, to create the effect of a sunset and sunrise on the front and back of the paravent. The imposing paravent, 160cm tall, is equipped with shelves to display small items, turning this piece of art into a functional object. To celebrate this illustrious collaboration, Serapian and Wood will host a dinner during Fuorisalone for their respective creative communities, staged like a celebration of colour and creativity with a special floral installation by Japanese artist Satoshi Kawamoto which will echo the Bokashi-inspired paravent. As part of the Fuorisalone presentation, Serapian also stages an exhibition on the first floor of Villa Mozart, with an installation created in collaboration with Cappellini to showcase a dialogue between design and high craftsmanship. Contemporary Cappellini pieces, including Dimorestudio’s Millepiedi bookcase and Elena Salmistraro’s Myia glass coffee table, help showcase some of Serapian’s most distinctive Mestieri D’Arte. The Maison’s leather creations are shown in an inviting space where Serapian’s black and white palette is reflected on the checkered carpets, while yellow objects such as sofa and cabinet nod to the Maria Theresa yellow, an iconic shade of Milanese architecture and a colour close to the company’s heart. In this space, Serapian’s craft comes to life through materials and techniques including the Mosaico Stop & Go technique, chiaroscuro on classic Serapian bags and leather goods, and a capsule collection created with iconic Japanese silk house Chiso. As part of this display, guests will also discover the Secret Beauty Trunk, a unique bespoke piece presented at Homo Faber in 2024. It is made of Palm Wood, with interiors crafted in the company’s signature Mosaico technique, featuring hand-woven strips of lamb nappa. Featuring 12 Mosaico drawers (6 of which are hidden from view), the trunk also includes a central backlit mirror characterised by a diamond-shaped engraving that references the iconic shape of the Mosaico pattern, and is one of the Milanese company’s best displays of its Bespoke capabilities. "We are delighted to unveil an extraordinary object with Bethan Laura Wood, a leading British designer who is also an artist and collector. Both Bethan and Serapian are constantly experimenting, researching and innovating with colour and materials, and this large-scale, imposing paravent is a testament to our passion. It is great to combine our craft with Bethan’s to bring to life this magical object entirely crafted in Italy, crafted using our Mosaico techniques woven in our Bespoke atelier." says Maxime Bohe, CEO Serapian. "I felt drawn to Mosaico, the weaving technique characteristic of Serapian artisans, along with the exchanges of materials and the positioning of colours. Inspired by the mountainous origins of many of this year’s Double Signature artisans and the shaded printing technique in recent Serapian collections, I was reminded of the delicate colour transitions found in Japanese woodblock landscapes. These layered tones, where two inks blend with the natural shade of the paper, evoke the soft light of dawn or dusk and create a sense of depth and distance. I tried to translate this effect from 2D to 3D, designing an interlocking mountain landscape that acts as both a partition and a display unit. The structure seamlessly weaves together customised shades of colour, reflecting the ever-changing light on the mountains, where moving clouds cast shadows and sparkling lights dance on rugged surfaces." says Bethan Laura Wood. - Should I Play Casino Games at Crypto Casino in Canada?
Crypto online casinos have been making waves in the online gambling world, and Canadian players are starting to take notice. Whether you're in Ontario looking for something beyond the province's regulated market, or kicking back in British Columbia with your eye on fast, anonymous withdrawals—Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are opening up a whole new way to play. But let’s get real for a second: crypto gambling isn’t just about jumping on the latest trend. It’s about faster payouts, more privacy, and access to games that often aren’t available at traditional online casinos. Still, that doesn’t mean it’s the right move for everyone. If you're wondering whether it’s worth diving into Bitcoin casinos in Canada—or if “fast Canadian payout casinos” really deliver what they promise—this guide is for you. We’ll break down the pros, the risks, and everything in between, with tips tailored to where you live and how you like to play. What Are Crypto Casinos and How Do They Work? Crypto casinos are online gambling platforms that accept digital currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Litecoin instead of—or alongside—traditional payment methods. What sets them apart is how they operate: instead of relying on banks or credit card processors, these casinos use blockchain technology to handle deposits, gameplay, and withdrawals. That means quicker transactions, fewer third parties, and often a higher level of anonymity for the player. Most crypto casinos run similarly to regular online casinos, offering popular games like slots, blackjack, and roulette—but with a twist. Some also feature “provably fair” games, a blockchain-based system that lets players verify the fairness of every outcome. This added transparency, combined with near-instant crypto payouts, makes Bitcoin casinos in Canada increasingly appealing to players looking for a faster, more modern way to gamble online. Legal Status of Crypto Casinos in Canada In Canada, gambling is regulated at the provincial level, and there’s currently no specific legislation addressing the use of cryptocurrencies in online casinos. This creates a legal grey area where Canadian players can legally access offshore crypto casinos, as long as the casino holds a valid international license (such as from Curaçao or Malta). However, these platforms are not regulated by Canadian provinces, which means players do not have the same protections as they would with locally licensed casinos. Here's how the legal status of online casinos—and by extension, crypto gambling—breaks down by province: Ontario Ontario became the first province in Canada to fully regulate private online gambling with the launch of the iGaming Ontario (iGO) market in April 2022. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) oversees the licensing process. As of now, crypto casinos are not licensed under Ontario’s iGaming framework, which means any Bitcoin or Ethereum casino accessed from the province is considered offshore. That said, Ontario residents are not prohibited from using these platforms, and no player has been penalized for doing so. The province reported over $1.4 billion in wagers in its first full year of legal online gambling, but crypto gambling remains outside that ecosystem. British Columbia British Columbia’s online gambling is managed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) through its official site, PlayNow. This is the only legal online casino in the province, and it does not support cryptocurrency transactions. According to BCLC data, over $1.3 billion in revenue was generated from online gambling in 2023, but crypto casinos are entirely unregulated in B.C. Still, offshore crypto casinos are accessible, and provincial authorities have not taken action against players who use them. Quebec Quebec regulates online gambling through Loto-Québec, which operates Espacejeux, the province’s only legal gambling platform. Crypto transactions are not permitted. In 2016, the Quebec government attempted to pass Bill 74, which would have allowed ISPs to block access to unlicensed gambling sites, including crypto casinos. However, the bill was overturned in 2018 after legal challenges, reinforcing that players can access offshore sites freely. In 2023, Loto-Québec’s online gambling revenue surpassed $500 million, but crypto casinos remain outside its jurisdiction. Alberta Online gambling in Alberta is managed by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) through PlayAlberta.ca , the only locally regulated site. This platform does not accept cryptocurrency. While Alberta has shown interest in expanding its iGaming market to include private operators, no legal framework for crypto casinos currently exists. Offshore crypto platforms remain accessible, and no enforcement action is taken against individuals who use them. As of 2023, online gambling contributed over $160 million in revenue to the province. Manitoba and Atlantic Provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island) These provinces generally follow a model where online gambling is offered through the Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) or in Manitoba’s case, in partnership with BCLC’s PlayNow platform. None of these services currently support crypto payments. The Atlantic Lottery’s digital segment generated $48.8 million in revenue in 2022, but like elsewhere in Canada, players are not restricted from accessing offshore crypto casinos. These sites operate under international licenses, and players assume full responsibility when choosing to play. Benefits of Playing at Bitcoin Casinos in Canada For many Canadian players, Bitcoin casinos offer a refreshing alternative to traditional online gambling platforms. Whether you’re after faster withdrawals, greater privacy, or access to crypto-exclusive bonuses, there are several reasons why crypto casinos are gaining traction across provinces—from Ontario to Alberta. Unlike government-run platforms, most Bitcoin casinos in Canada operate 24/7, process payments within minutes, and give players access to thousands of games from top-tier providers. They’re especially attractive if you’re searching for fast Canadian payout casinos that don’t rely on banks or e-wallets. Here are some of the key benefits: Fast and Borderless Payouts - Crypto transactions typically clear within minutes, even on weekends—no need to wait for bank processing times or deal with payout delays. Lower Fees and No Currency Conversion - Since you're depositing in Bitcoin or other crypto, there's no CAD to USD conversion fees or bank charges eating into your balance. Enhanced Privacy and Security - Bitcoin casinos often require less personal information. Many use blockchain tech and offer 2FA and cold storage for added safety. Access to Exclusive Crypto Bonuses - Many of the best crypto casinos Canada has to offer include special promotions, like matched BTC deposits, cashback, and free spins—only for crypto users. Wide Game Selection from Leading Providers - Crypto casinos feature games from trusted developers like BGaming, Hacksaw Gaming, Pragmatic Play, and Evolution, with options that support crypto wagers. No Payment Processor Restrictions - Unlike credit cards or Interac, which may be declined for gambling, crypto payments go through smoothly without interference from banks. Provably Fair Games - Some Bitcoin casinos offer provably fair titles where players can verify every game outcome using blockchain technology. Are Fast Canadian Payout Casinos Better With Crypto? When it comes to quick withdrawals, fast Canadian payout casinos that accept crypto usually outperform traditional options by a mile. With Bitcoin or Ethereum, you can often receive your winnings in as little as 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the blockchain network speed and the casino’s internal processing time. There's no need to wait 1–5 business days for banks to release funds or for payment processors to approve your cashout—crypto cuts out the middleman entirely. That said, not all crypto payouts are instant. Some casinos still apply internal review times or may require ID verification (especially on larger wins), but once approved, the transaction itself is lightning fast. Compared to traditional payout methods like Interac, credit cards, or e-wallets, crypto is far more consistent and less prone to delays, making it the go-to choice for players who want fast, secure access to their winnings in Canada. Crypto Payment Methods Available in Canadian Casinos Canadian players have access to a growing number of cryptocurrency options when playing at offshore crypto casinos. These digital currencies offer fast, secure, and borderless transactions—perfect for players who value both speed and privacy. Whether you're using a mobile wallet, a browser extension like MetaMask, or a cold wallet for added security, the top Bitcoin casinos in Canada support a wide range of crypto payment methods. Here are some of the most commonly accepted cryptocurrencies in Canadian-facing crypto casinos: Bitcoin (BTC): The most widely accepted cryptocurrency for online gambling. Known for reliability and high transaction volume, though it may carry slightly higher network fees during peak times. Ethereum (ETH): Popular for its fast transaction speeds and compatibility with smart contracts, often used in blockchain-based casino games. Litecoin (LTC): Favoured for its low fees and faster confirmation times compared to Bitcoin—great for smaller, more frequent transactions. Tether (USDT): A stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. It eliminates crypto volatility and is ideal for players who want stable betting without exchange-rate surprises. Dogecoin (DOGE): Once a meme coin, now a widely accepted payment method thanks to low fees and community popularity. Bitcoin Cash (BCH): A fork of Bitcoin designed for faster and cheaper transactions—supported by many crypto casinos. Depositing and withdrawing with crypto is typically as easy as scanning a QR code or pasting your wallet address. Most casinos don’t charge additional fees, and transactions are often confirmed in just minutes. Potential Risks of Playing at Crypto Casinos While crypto casinos offer plenty of advantages—like fast payouts, privacy, and access to exclusive bonuses—they’re not without risks. Since these platforms typically operate offshore, Canadian players don’t get the same protections they would from a provincially regulated casino. If something goes wrong, like a delayed withdrawal or account issue, you won’t have a local regulatory body like the AGCO or BCLC to step in and help. Another major concern is crypto volatility. The value of your Bitcoin or Ethereum can rise or fall dramatically in a short period, which means your winnings might be worth less (or more) by the time you cash out. There's also the issue of unlicensed or rogue operators—some crypto casinos may look legit but have no oversight, shady terms, or outright scams. To minimize risk, Canadian players should stick to crypto casinos that are licensed by reputable authorities (like Curaçao or the Isle of Man), have strong user reviews, and use security features like two-factor authentication and cold wallet storage. Frequently Asked Questions If you're new to crypto casinos or just want to make sure you're playing smart, you probably have a few questions. Below are quick answers to some of the most common things Canadian players ask before diving into Bitcoin gambling. 1. Can I legally play at a crypto casino from Canada? Yes, Canadian players can legally access offshore crypto casinos, but these platforms are not licensed within Canada. 2. What’s the fastest crypto for casino payouts? Litecoin and Tether are often the fastest, with lower network fees and quicker confirmation times than Bitcoin. 3. Are crypto casino winnings taxable in Canada? For most casual players, winnings are not taxed, but frequent or professional gamblers may be subject to taxes. 4. Do I need to complete KYC to withdraw from a Bitcoin casino? Some crypto casinos require KYC for larger withdrawals, while others allow anonymous transactions depending on their policy. 5. How do I know a crypto casino is safe to use? Look for licensed operators, strong user reviews, provably fair games, and security features like 2FA and SSL encryption. Final Thoughts Crypto casinos are changing the way Canadians play online, offering faster payouts, more privacy, and access to unique games and bonuses you won’t find on traditional platforms. Whether you're chasing a quick Bitcoin payout or just looking for a new way to spin the reels, there's no doubt that crypto gambling brings something fresh to the table. That said, it’s not for everyone. The lack of provincial regulation, price volatility, and the need for a bit of crypto know-how means it’s best suited for players who are comfortable with a more hands-on, independent experience. If that sounds like you, then exploring the best crypto casinos Canada has to offer might just be your next big win. Just remember—bet smart, stay safe, and always play with a clear head. - Discover the Complicated Desk Clock, Ref. 27000M-001
The manufacture unites tradition and innovation in a desk clock offering both a perpetual calendar and a weekly calendar, equipped with a brand new manually wound caliber with a 31- day power reserve, rate accuracy within a range of +/– 1 second per 24 hours and ease of use worthy of a 21st century timepiece. This jewel of technical and engineering prowess, in silver, also stands out by the timeless refinement of its exterior, enriched with green Grand Feu flinqué enameling. The early decades of the twentieth century were a period of intense creativity for Patek Philippe. As devotees with a passion for technical excellence and innovation, the great American collectors spurred the manufacture’s zest for invention by seeking out and acquiring the most sophisticated timepieces. This outstanding expertise was especially manifest in the pocket watches, exemplified by the famous “Graves” (1933), which remained, until 1989 and the creation of the Calibre 89, the world’s most complicated portable timepiece, with 24 complications. Patek Philippe also produced wristwatches with highly refined movements and exterior features for this demanding clientele. But another sector of horology also benefited from this pioneering spirit: that of the desk clock. In 1923, the manufacture delivered to James Ward Packard, a famous carmaker, a desk clock with perpetual calendar remarkable for its eight-day power reserve and its silver case with applied ornaments in yellow gold and winged lions in gilt bronze. In 1927, New York banker Henry Graves Junior (for whom the “Graves” was destined) took delivery of another desk clock of the same type, with modified displays and a personalized exterior. These two pieces now feature among the treasures in the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva (“Packard” desk clock » No. P-140, “Graves” desk clock No. P-1270). A new high-performance movement Patek Philippe is renewing its links with this golden age of the desk clock with a fresh interpretation of the piece destined for James Ward Packard. True to its “tradition of innovation”, the manufacture charged its designers with developing a completely new manually wound caliber offering a power reserve of 31 days, a rate accuracy of +/– 1 second per 24 hours and an ease of operation worthy of a twenty-first century movement. Product of seven years’ development, the rectangular caliber 86-135 PEND S IRM Q SE, stamped with the Patek Philippe Seal, comprises 912 parts, of which almost half concern the perpetual calendar. Its development led to the filing of nine patent applications for innovations and optimizations, notably aimed at strengthening long-term reliability, reducing the energy consumption of the perpetual calendar, enhancing ease of use, and securing the functions against any inadvertent mishandling. A “precision regulator” The 31-day power reserve is ensured bythree going barrels connected in series. To guarantee a variation in rate of no more than +/– 1 second per 24 hours, the engineers devised a true “precision regulator”, incorporated at the heart of the movement, with a patented constant-force mechanism making it possible to maintain the stable amplitude of the balance from the first day of the power reserve to the last, for a full month. At the center of the dial, a discreet power-reserve indicator shows whether the mechanism needs rewinding. Jumping seconds and weekly calendar In terms of the functions, Patek Philippe has introduced two new features compared with the “Packard” clock. The first consists of a “jumping seconds” hand (or “independent seconds” hand) making one jump per second in the manner of the old regulators. The second is a weekly calendar –a useful function whereby the read-out is made easier by the rotating aperture displaying the number of the current week on a scale at the periphery of the dial. For the other indications, the manufacture has retained the hour and minutes display in a small eccentric subsidiary dial at 12 o’clock, the moon-phase aperture at 6 o’clock and the day and month displays in apertures at 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock. The date display by a hand –a hand from the center on the “Packard” –was moved to the subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock and two small apertures at 7.30 et 4.30 displaying, respectively, the day/night indication and the leap-year cycle – two pieces of information essential when adjusting the calendar. Transfer printed in black, these various indications stand out with superb legibility on the silvery opaline dial. A mechanical dashbord While retaining the overall shape of the “Packard” clock (albeit on a larger scale) the designers of the new Reference 27000M-001 innovated by endowing it with a genuine mechanical dashbord in American walnut wood veneer, housed beneath a hinged bonnet opening from the right. This modern system of a control console means that adjustments become intuitive, simple and practical –in compliance with Patek Philippe’s user-centric philosophy. Under the bonnet, in the upper left-hand corner, a casing fitted with a patented ejection system houses the winding and setting key –an artistically worked piece comprising several parts. In the upper righthand corner are the two openings enabling the key to access the winding and setting squares. Another opening, located at six o’clock beneath the bezel, provides access to the square that stops the seconds, enabling the time to be set to the nearest second. Once these operations have been completed, the clock can function without being rewound for a full month, thanks to its 31-day power reserve. Corrector pushers Below the dial, the designers incorporated five push-piece correctors. These pushers adorned with a letter or a symbol enable the user to adjust the perpetual calendar indications by simple pressure with a finger: from left to right, the week (Week), the day (Day), the moon phase (crescent moon) the month (Month) and the date (Calendar). The corrector pushers required that the movement integrate a complex system of intermediate wheels to ensure their exact alignment along the same arc. An exclusive aesthetic For the exterior features of the new desk clock Reference 27000M-001, Patek Philippe drew inspiration from the lavish ornaments on the historic model of 1923, interpreting these in a refined, timeless style. Panels of green Grand Feu flinqué enamel over a swirling guilloché pattern adorn a cabinet crafted in 925 silver. Similarly to the watch dials, these panels were counter-enameled to ensure that they remained perfectly level. This technique represents a formidable challenge, since the elements are large and risk becoming deformed during firing. Very few enamellers master the complex technique of enameling on silver, a metal whose melting point, lower than that of gold (890°C versus 980°C), is close to the temperatures customary when firing enamel (from 800°C to 900°C). The border of the upper panel and the bezel present an engraved cord motif. The observer may also recognize, in the form of appliques in vermeil (silver gilt) decorative elements borrowed from the historic clock: the three rosettes located in the corners and at 12 o’clock, the acanthus scrollwork surrounding the Calatrava cross, and the four winged lions enthroned on the clock’s feet. Prior to the clock’s entry in the current collection, Patek Philippe donated a unique preview version (Reference 27001M-001) with American walnut veneers for sale at the charitable auction Only Watch 2021, where it went under the hammer for 9.5 million Swiss francs. The nine patents of the new caliber 86-135 PEND S IRM Q SE Patent 1 - System for the ejection of the winding and setting key housed in the clock cabinet. Patent 2 - Ratchet fixing system ensuring perfect rotation of the three barrels on the same plane. Patent 3 - System allowing use of the barrels in either direction of rotation, implemented by the intermediate barrel’s rotating in the opposite direction to the other two. Patent 4 - Constant-force mechanism ensuring the stable amplitude of the balance from the first to the last day of the power reserve. Patent 5 - Power-reserve indicator equipped with a an elastic connection buffer with the wheel train, enabling the movement to continue to operate when the indicator is at zero. Patent 6 - Limitation of the travel of the large lever, making it possible to save energy by avoiding useless travel of the large lever from the 1st to the 27th of each month. Patent 7 - Optimized drive pawl making it possible to reduce the energy consumption of the perpetual calendar. Patent 8 - Anti-double-jump system for the indicator of the number of the week in a rotating aperture. Patent 9 - Activation of the correction function on the 1st of each month, making it possible to correct the indications in the right order. An isolator system deactivates the date correction function if the latter is not positioned on the 1st of the month, thereby avoiding the user any de-synchronization of the calendar. - Knoll Collaborates with Contemporary Design Visionaries at Salone Del Mobile 2025
At Salone del Mobile 2025, Knoll will introduce new products from today’s leading voices of design. In partnership with visionaries across multiple distinct areas of design – architecture, sculpture, and interior design – Knoll will debut unconventional yet sculptural forms that capture contemporary patterns of living and look to the future. The Knoll pavilion will feature unique and flexible new designs: Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee’s Biboni Sofa ; Jonathan Muecke’s finely crafted all-wood dining collection ; designer, creative director, and polymath Willo Perron’s Bun Lounge Chair and Ottoman , an immersive design; noted interior designer Joseph D’Urso’s Occasional Tables , now back in production; and for the first time, the Barcelona Collection available in a curated selection of textiles . This year’s pavilion is designed by architecture practice OFFICE, founded by Belgian architect duo Kersten Geers and David Van Severen, for a third consecutive year. Bringing a sustainability mindset, the pavilion is made from repurposed and recycled materials (also recyclable) that have been reimagined each year of the partnership to complement the products. Courtesy of Knoll Biboni Sofa Knoll builds on its practice of partnering with prominent architects with the introduction of the Biboni Sofa by Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee of Johnston Marklee. The sculptural form of Biboni echoes the firm's distinct approach to architecture, shaping space into volumes, voids, and curves. Plush scallops and soft folds are shaped into an anthropomorphic form that envelops and embraces the human body. The experience of Biboni strikes a balance between formal and informal, offering a unique combination of softness and support, allowing the sitter to feel both relaxed yet engaged at once. Biboni Sofa by Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee of Johnston Marklee. Courtesy of Knoll Designed with an architectural mindset, every detail of Biboni has been carefully crafted to enhance its relationship to a surrounding space. It truly stands out when it appears in the round—floating away from the perimeter, as part of a constellation of elements composing a total interior. “It wants to be a good friend,” says Johnston . “We like that it can be giving in that way.” Muecke Wood Collection by Jonathan Muecke. Courtesy of Knoll Muecke Wood Collection Knoll will announce its collaboration with architect and sculptor Jonathan Muecke. Muecke Wood Collection is an all-wood collection of dining chairs and tables that are familiar and uniquely crafted. This simple collection exemplifies Muecke’s artistic approach, centered around the belief that material is elemental, repetition is clarity, and logic is freedom. Unlike traditional wooden furniture, which typically hides the end grain in mortise joints, Muecke’s collection showcases it boldly. By utilizing a single round wooden profile, and stacking members following structural principles, Muecke’s chair eschews the formal decisions typically associated with design. This approach places focus on materiality and proportions and the way the chair occupies space. In creating this collection, Muecke’ s training as an architect came into play, with a focus on spatial relationships. “I don’t think about chairs and tables as objects,” he says. “I think about a chair in terms of material—as a marker of human scale, a physical record in relational space.” “Muecke’s sculpture plays a prominent role in Knoll showrooms, charging the interiors with spatial sensitivity and composition. His first furniture collection produced at scale allows Knoll to bring these qualities to its clients’ homes and projects,” commented Knoll SVP of Design Jonathan Olivares . Perron Bun Lounge Chair and Ottoman Building on last year’s collaboration with designer and creative director Willo Perron, Knoll unveils the Perron Bun Lounge Chair and Ottoman, which blurs the lines between lounge chair, sofa, and bed. The ultra-relaxed chair is like a plush cloud floating above a transparent sculptural base. Bun Lounge Chair delivers a sense of comfort and is ideal for a time when we are looking to bring a relaxed aesthetic to more spaces. “I come from pop culture and music, and my work is always a little bit performative,” says Perron . Courtesy of Knoll D’Urso Occasional Tables Celebrated minimalist and internationally renowned interior designer Joseph D’Urso first translated his signature aesthetic to furniture for Knoll in 1980. Among those pieces was the D’Urso Occasional Table, now available in three sizes. Durably constructed of welded steel with polished and glossy painted finishes, the reissue reflects its surroundings, seamlessly becoming part of the environment. Its functional design, industrial materials, and concealed casters align with the high-tech design movement of the 1970s and reflect D’Urso’s preference for objects that feel more engineered than styled. D’Urso Occasional Tables by Joseph D’Urso. Courtesy of Knoll The open lower shelf of the table acts as a second tabletop, offering space to store and display books and objects while keeping the top surface clear and uncluttered. Because the items below are still visible, they’re celebrated but not obtrusive. From its two-level structure to its caster wheels, every aspect of this table is thoughtfully designed for both form and function. It’s a small piece of architecture within a living space. The Barcelona Collection by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Courtesy of Knoll Barcelona Collection in New Fabrics and Finishes The Barcelona Collection, first introduced in 1929, exudes a simple elegance that represents Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s most famous maxim: “Less is more.” After consulting with scholars, Knoll learned that while the collection has always been available in leather, Mies van der Rohe had no objection to other fabrics being used on the designs. Knoll will enliven this collection with the option of fabric upholstery and a new ultra matte-black frame, available for the Barcelona Chair, Stool, and Couch. - Coup’s Takeaways: HEAT Set Franchise Scoring Record in New Orleans as They Lock in Play-In Seeding
There’s been a few games like this lately, but that doesn’t mean this one gets to be any sort of exception. You win, you move on. That’s all there is to it. New Orleans is simply playing out the string, the vast majority of their regulars shut down for the season. Miami came into the night with a very slim chance of climbing out of the No. 10 spot, but for even a tiny chance to matter you must keep adding to your win total. So Erik Spoelstra played his regulars to make sure the job got done. Miami’s incredible stretch of shooting – particularly early in games – continued from the jump, Alec Burks and Tyler Herro opening with a couple from outside before Bam Adebayo another pair all on his own. Adebayo and Herro combined for 17 of Miami’s first 21, but the Pelicans were almost equally as hot, chipping away when Adebayo and Herro hit the bench, closing the gap to 35-24 after the first. Duncan Robinson converted on a four-point play to push the lead all the way up to 17, but New Orleans wasn’t ready to cool off, either, Jose Alvarado hitting and old HEAT player Jamal Cain having himself a quarter. Cain got all the way up to 15 in the period, tying his season high in a short amount of time, and again New Orleans made a push against Miami’s bench, within 55-49. Then Adebayo and Herro returned and all was right in the world, the lead back to 71-54 by the break. Nothing special in any way beyond Adebayo eventually reaching a career-high four threes, this was not a night for schemes and strategies. Little doubt was left in the third, Miami opening the period on a 10-0 run and the lead eventually sprinting past 30. The evening was effectively settled there and there was little reason left for Miami’s regular rotation to remain as the Eastern Conference postseason picture came into sharp focus with results settling in elsewhere. Up 40 in the fourth, threes still flying and Keshad Johnson getting enough run to string together a bunch of dunks, and Miami takes it, 153-104, setting the franchise scoring record – for any game, including overtime games – in the process as 10 players reached double figures. If there was to be any drama this evening, most of it was quickly drained away with scores around the league, Atlanta holding off an early Philadelphia run to win convincingly and lock themselves into the No. 8 seed by the time Miami’s game had hit halftime. Chicago, meanwhile, was leading the Wizards by almost as much as the HEAT were up on the Pelicans, that victory locking the Bulls into the No. 9 spot and officially slotting Miami into the 10. The end result? The HEAT will head up to Chicago to play the Bulls on Wednesday – Miami has beaten Chicago in the Play-In round in each of the past two seasons – the loser going home and the winner earning the right to play the loser of the Orland-Atlanta game for the No. 8 seed and a First Round matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. It will end up going under the radar a bit but with Miami finishing this one shooting 44.4% on 45 attempts from three they’ve locked in one of the 10-12 – there won’t be quite an official number because of how multi-game spans are logged – best shooting stretches of 11 or more games in league history. Granted one of the qualifiers there is that three-point shooting volume today is far higher than it was 15 years ago, but even then approaching 44 percent over more than two weeks is not something that happens very often. If your next question is whether that shooting is sustainable, it’s right to be skeptical about any hot, or cold, streak. More often than not, if someone is asking if something is sustainable, it probably isn’t. But sustainability is about time, about water finding its level as the sample size grows. A single game like a Play-In game is not much of a factor there, anything liable to happen in one night – which is exactly what can simultaneously give you hope for next week and offer an equal amount of healthy concern. The good news is Miami’s Shot Quality has been up a little bit of late, and nothing makes it easier to stay hot than manufacturing good looks. For Miami HEAT tickets click here . By ML Staff.
