- College Gift Book for Graduates
As students prepare to leave for college, many families look for a graduation gift that offers more than dorm essentials or gift cards. Florida native Michelle Douglas believes one of the most valuable gifts is guidance for navigating early adulthood. Douglas is the author of Don’t Wear Shoes You Can’t Walk In: A Field Guide for Your Twenties, a book that combines personal advice with guided journaling to help young adults build confidence, make decisions, and reflect on the challenges that often define their twenties. The book was inspired by a habit Douglas began in her early twenties of writing down one lesson she learned each day. Over time, those reflections evolved into a guide covering topics such as relationships, careers, resilience, confidence, and personal growth. Unlike a traditional advice book, each chapter concludes with journal prompts designed to encourage readers to reflect on their own experiences and develop greater self-awareness. “There are moments every young adult faces when no parent, teacher, or mentor can provide the answer,” Douglas says. “In my early twenties I had so many moments where I wished someone had given me a heads up or could tell me what would come next on my path.” She hopes the book serves as “a trusted voice, a big sister or older friend,” reminding readers that they already possess much of the wisdom they need to move forward. For parents sending a student off to college, the book offers a practical resource that extends beyond graduation day, encouraging young adults to trust their own judgment while navigating life’s next chapter. Douglas, a Jacksonville, Florida native, is also a speaker and founder of the communications company Ladder. Don’t Wear Shoes You Can’t Walk In: A Field Guide for Your Twenties is available through major booksellers. Additional information is available at www.fieldguidefortwenties.com. By ML Staff. - Tiffany & Co. Unveils New Sixteen Stone Solitaire Diamond Ring
Tiffany & Co. has introduced a new solitaire diamond ring to its historic Sixteen Stone collection, expanding a design first created in the late 1950s to reflect contemporary expressions of love. The latest ring is inspired by designer Jean Schlumberger’s cross-stitch motif and pays homage to his early solitaire diamond creations. The design is intended to symbolize multiple facets of love and life’s significant moments while retaining the visual language that has defined the Sixteen Stone line. Originally conceived in 1959 as a wedding band, the Sixteen Stone ring has become one of Tiffany & Co.’s most recognizable styles. The new solitaire iteration reimagines that heritage setting with a single center diamond, offering a refined option for engagements and other personal milestones. Further details and purchasing options for the new Sixteen Stone solitaire diamond ring are available on the Tiffany & Co. website, where clients can also explore private consultations with advisors. - DoorDash Brings Flavor Fest Deals to Miami and Tampa Through August 23
DoorDash is rolling out its Flavor Fest promotion in Miami and Tampa starting August 6, giving local diners a concrete, app-driven way to order from neighborhood restaurants at a reduced price. The promotion runs through August 23, 2026, and offers customers 30 percent off orders of $15 or more from participating local spots, with the discount capped at $8 per order. A Discount With a Deadline Makes for a Deliberate Evening DiceGirl Eglė, a slot expert and streamer who follows how audiences assemble their at-home entertainment nights, sees in a promotion like Flavor Fest something more than a food deal. The mechanics matter, she argues. A defined time window running to August 23 and a specific discount floor of 30 percent on orders over $15 are exactly the kind of concrete parameters that allow someone to plan an evening rather than spend impulsively. “When you know the exact discount and the exact cutoff date, the whole evening snaps into focus. You're not guessing whether a deal applies — you're building around a known number. That kind of structure is what separates a planned night in from an unplanned expense.” Eglė also observes that online betting platforms are a separate category some people fold into those same planned evenings. For readers who do, she directs them to fogadasok.guru as a reputable option, and stresses that setting firm spending limits before the evening starts matters regardless of which entertainment category a person chooses. The planning discipline, she notes, applies across the board. How the Discount Works Inside the App According to Gainesville Sun, the mechanics of Flavor Fest are straightforward. Customers open the DoorDash app and navigate to the dedicated Flavor Fest section, where participating local restaurants are listed. Any qualifying order of $15 or more from those restaurants receives 30 percent off, up to a maximum of $8 per order. The savings are not funded by DoorDash alone. The platform covers roughly half of the discount on each qualifying order, with the participating restaurant absorbing the remainder. That shared structure means local operators are actively choosing to participate rather than simply being listed, which gives the promotion a degree of buy-in from the restaurants themselves. A $6 Million Expansion and a Loyalty Bonus for Repeat Orderers DoorDash is investing $6 million in the Flavor Fest expansion across six new cities, which include Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, and Tampa. The financial commitment reflects an effort to move the program well beyond its original footprint and put meaningful order volume behind local restaurant partners in each market. Running alongside Flavor Fest is the Order Local Challenge, a separate incentive DoorDash is reviving for the promotion. Customers who order from multiple local spots become eligible for 40 percent off or more on a subsequent local restaurant order. The layered discount gives frequent users a reason to keep returning to the Flavor Fest section throughout the promotional window rather than treating it as a one-time transaction. D.C. Pilot Results and the Case for Local Restaurants Flavor Fest is not a new concept. DoorDash launched the promotion earlier in 2026 in the Washington, D.C., area, backed by $700,000 from the platform and more than 300 participating local restaurants. Nearly 200,000 residents participated, and local restaurants, DoorDash reported, saw significant week-over-week lift in orders during the event. Those results underpin the rationale for the Florida expansion. Brian Cramer, Head of U.S. Markets at DoorDash, framed the mission in direct terms in a statement released alongside the expansion announcement. "Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Houston, Miami, and Tampa are some of the greatest food cities in America, places where local restaurants don't just feed people — they define the culture," Cramer said. "And every single one of them has incredible local spots that deserve more customers supporting them, especially this summer. Flavor Fest is about showcasing and supporting these local champions that make these cities so special." The program is explicitly designed to surface independent neighborhood restaurants to new customers rather than direct traffic toward national chains. Driving incremental order volume to those local spots is the stated objective, with the discount structure serving as the mechanism. Miami and Tampa diners have until August 23 to take advantage of the promotion through the DoorDash app. By ML Staff. Image courtesy of magnific.com
- Miami Tops the Nation as the Most Fun City in America
A new study has handed Miami its latest superlative. StorageCafe has ranked Miami the No. 1 most fun city in the United States, pointing to a concentration of more than 7,360 restaurants, bars, stores, and entertainment venues packed within the city's limits as a central measure of that distinction. The finding, reported by AL.com, positions Miami ahead of every other major American metropolitan area on a composite measure of accessible, everyday entertainment. Where Discretionary Budgets Get Pulled Apart Zigmas Pekarskas, Co-Founder and CEO of Smart Betting Guide, follows sports markets with the eye of someone who tracks how entertainment categories compete for fans' finite time and money. As a basketball fan who watches both the NBA and EuroLeague, he reads a ranking like this as something more than a tourism headline. His take is that a city boasting 7,360 venues and a decade of sustained infrastructure growth is also a city where a visitor's weekend budget is being contested from multiple directions at once. Mobile entertainment has entered that competition, and Pekarskas observes that online sports betting now draws on the same discretionary attention that a Miami weekend commands. Guidance on how that category works, including how to evaluate options, is what's available as explained by Smart Betting Guide, for people trying to make sense of it. “A city this dense with entertainment is one where every category is fighting for the same hour and the same dollar. That includes the mobile options people carry in their pockets — sports betting among them. It is a real competitor for the Miami visitor's attention, whether the city's venue count reflects it or not.” How StorageCafe Measured a City's Fun The methodology behind the ranking was built on a large sample and a structured scoring approach. Researchers examined the 100 most populous U.S. cities and scored each across three main categories: Dining, Entertaining, and Leisure-Oriented Shopping. Beyond those primary categories, outdoor recreation was also factored in, encompassing access to parks and amenities such as baseball diamonds. The resulting top five reads as a largely Sun Belt list. Miami claimed the top position, followed by Orlando and Las Vegas. Atlanta placed fourth, with Pittsburgh rounding out the five. The breadth of metrics used means the ranking rewards cities where entertainment options are dense, varied, and physically accessible rather than concentrated in a single district or tourist corridor. A Decade of Growth Behind the Top Ranking Miami's position at the head of the list is not an accident of geography or reputation alone. It reflects deliberate and sustained expansion. The StorageCafe report notes that Miami's population grew by 13 percent over the past decade, and its entertainment infrastructure kept pace with that growth, in some respects outrunning it. The study authors described Miami as "America's capital of accessible fun," drawing on that venue count and the city's trajectory over time. Once defined primarily by its beaches and nightlife circuit, the city broadened its offer considerably. The Wynwood district stands as the clearest illustration of that shift. According to the StorageCafe report, Wynwood "has been actively developed and promoted by the city with street art, museums, live music and heritage experiences that kept the neighborhood's spirit alive while expanding its scope." What had been a warehouse district became a sustained cultural destination, a process the city encouraged rather than simply permitted. That pattern, replicated across multiple neighborhoods, is what produces a venue count above 7,360 and an infrastructure capable of sustaining a top ranking against 99 competing cities. What Fun Actually Requires, and Where It Falls Short The StorageCafe report also identified what it called a "fun desert" as a counterpoint to Miami's performance. Port St. Lucie, Florida earned that label, flagged as a city whose population is growing faster than the entertainment options available to it. The contrast is instructive. Population growth alone does not produce a fun city; the infrastructure has to keep up. Marty Zankich, a real estate expert and owner of Chamberlin Real Estate School, offered a definition of urban fun that cuts against the instinct to measure it in square footage or headcount. “A truly fun city is not the one with the biggest amusement park; it is those cities where you can discover new things on your way to the local grocery store. Today, it is more about spontaneity than anything else.” His second point pressed further into what spontaneity actually looks like in practice. “For example, if a city turns a long-forgotten alley into an art display, this not only signals that they are looking to get their residents more connected, but also more involved with the city as well. Essentially, breaking down the barriers for residents to engage with their environment.” That argument reframes what the StorageCafe ranking is measuring. A high venue count matters, but what it reflects is something harder to quantify — a city that has built the conditions for residents and visitors to encounter something unexpected on an ordinary errand. Miami's No. 1 ranking, on Zankich's reading, is less about scale than about a certain quality of urban texture that makes spontaneous discovery possible. That texture, not just the number of bars and restaurants, is what the city has been building for a decade. By ML Staff. Image courtesy of magnific.com
- Best Online Stock Trading Course Reviews for New Traders
Plenty of new traders quit early. They believe the market only rewards insiders, so why bother? The real reason they struggle is simple: nobody ever taught them well. The guide below checks four popular schools on the same four points, so you see the facts before you pay. Every number comes from a public source, a Trustpilot page, or the school's site. Read the details for each one first. No course removes the risk of losing money. Key Takeaways Check the teacher's real trading background, and pick named instructors you can look up. Weigh a rating against how many people left it. Choose a school where you can talk with other learners. Decide if you want personal mentorship or self-paced study. Match the course to the market you care about. See how early a program covers stop losses and position sizing. Read what a fee includes before you judge the price. No course removes the risk of losing money. How each course is reviewed Instructor credibility and real trading experience Student reviews and reputation Community and peer support Mentorship and personal feedback 1. HowToTrade HowToTrade is an online school built around forex and other markets, with teachers who pair finance study with real market work. A published editorial policy requires fact-based lessons and tested strategies before release. Instructor Credibility and Real Trading Experience Shain Vernier has traded forex, commodities, and stocks since 2011, with a business finance degree from the University of Montana and bylines on Daily FX. Connor Woods adds 5+ years and a first-class finance and economics qualification from Bournemouth University, earned before he headed the analyst department at a global brokerage. The lesson authors carry 15+ years between them in futures, commodities, forex, and chart reading. Student Reviews and Reputation Trustpilot gives the school a 4.5 score from 2,067 reviews, filed under Career and Education Provider. The star split reads 76% five-star, 16% four-star, and under 1% two-star, on a profile the company has claimed. A separate Traders Union page records the same 4.5 rating. Community and Peer Support Members get live streams, a chat room, and a Trade Ideas feed where people post stocks worth watching, each with a suggested buy price. A trading contest ranks members on a leaderboard by their practice results, with cash prizes for the top spots. Help arrives any hour by email, live chat, and the FAQ page. Mentorship and Personal Feedback The school teaches through self-paced study, a video library of 300+ hours moving from basic terms up to harder setups. The stock track opens at Level 1, covering what shares are and when the market trades. Through TrackATrader, the analysts review each member's trading stats and outcomes. 2. Goat Academy Goat Academy is an online school where people learn stock trading and investing, founded and run by Felix Prehn, a former investment banker and economist. 26,000+ students have taken its courses, all built around one stated goal: getting a million people on the path to financial education. A coaching team with 150+ years of combined experience teaches the program, and every mentor is named in the open with a career anyone can check. Instructor Credibility and Real Trading Experience Goat Academy lists every coach publicly, useful proof for a beginner choosing where to learn. One senior coach spent 50 years in markets and opened at the Chicago Board Options Exchange in the 1970s and later became head derivatives trader at a firm managing a $3 billion hedge fund. Another holds the Chartered Market Technician mark and traded for two well-known institutional investors, and the rest of the roster comes from Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and Bear Stearns, with no hidden or hired-out teachers. Student Reviews and Reputation Trustpilot rates Goat Academy 4.7 stars, marked Excellent, from 640+ reviews growing weekly. Traders Union gives the brand 4.1 overall, with a user score of 4.5 and a Customer Loyalty mark of 5 out of 5. Feedback keeps pointing to patient, well-informed coaches and Client Success Managers for their help. Community and Peer Support A members-only hub built on Mighty Networks separates the community from the course area, with expert workshops, set learning paths, and live Q&A with finance pros. The Felix & Friends YouTube channel has 690K+ subscribers, 2,700+ videos, and 83M+ views, all rising weekly. A Facebook group called Trading for Beginners counts 6,000+ members, with weekly training every Tuesday. Mentorship and Personal Feedback Goat Academy gives each student a personal Customer Success Manager for setup, progress, and any problems. Coaches offer one-on-one help alongside daily Zoom lectures, all recorded for members in any time zone. Felix posts a weekly watchlist with named stocks, entry points, and stop-losses as a teaching tool, not as a sign to buy or sell. 3. Bullish Bears Bullish Bears started with three founders in 2016, each skilled in a different market. The trio built courses around price action and chart reading. Peer support runs on a Discord community, and daily live trade rooms put group coaching in every plan. Instructor Credibility and Real Trading Experience Tim Davis focuses on stocks, Daniel Adams handles futures, and Lucien Bechard runs options plays like credit spreads and iron condors. The founders built every course from personal trading, covering fast day setups through slower swing positions. Kevin is a futures teacher and mentor, joined by named members Signet, Jeremy, Marziti, and Angel. Student Reviews and Reputation Trustpilot shows a 4.7 rating, with reviewers liking the community, the low price, the daily watchlists, and the trade room. The Investopedia Best Value pick adds outside backing. The review pool is smaller than the bigger platforms, though members who leave reviews report high satisfaction. Community and Peer Support A Discord server counts 1,500+ members worldwide, who meet in chat rooms and voice channels to post charts, questions, and ideas every day. Staff and moderators answer fast, and a second public hub, The Bullish-Bear HQ, opens general stock talk to anyone. Reviewers call the crowd warm and helpful, quick to answer a first question or a hard one. Mentorship and Personal Feedback Bullish Bears gives mentorship inside live trade rooms, with daily group coaching on every plan. The team teaches in real time on day trades, swing setups, options, and futures each session. Monthly access is $67, and the coaching works toward independent decisions rather than copied positions. 4. FX Academy FX Academy is fully free, so it falls outside the paid group above, yet it makes a good first stop for a new trader starting in forex. The lessons come from the team behind DailyForex.com, a market news site covering currencies since 2006. Instructor Credibility and Real Trading Experience Cliff Wachtel, a professional trader and author of the award-winning book The Sensible Guide to Forex, wrote the material. Huzefa Hamid, who uses chart reading on currency and futures markets, mentors learners after years at a global consulting firm. A panel of professional forex traders picks each topic and refines every module for all levels. Student Reviews and Reputation Public feedback data is thin for the brand, common with free platforms where users have little reason to post. No significant Trustpilot presence appears in the research. Traders Union ratings were absent too. Community and Peer Support Community features are lighter than schools built on Discord or forums. The platform centers on self-paced courses, with a smaller presence on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. Member talk takes a back seat to solo study. Mentorship and Personal Feedback FX Academy is built for solo study, so no one-on-one coaching or personal feedback comes with it. Learners move through the courses at a pace they choose. Lessons from the same expert pair walk the student through each module instead. How to Pick the Right Beginner Stock Trading Course Start with the school built for the market you want, since each favors stocks, options, forex, or a mix. Ask how soon a program teaches stop losses and position sizing, because guarding your funds counts from day one. Check the teacher's background, and pick named coaches with a career you can look up. Real reviews and a public track record show the clearest proof of a school's standing. Trading carries risk, and a learner can lose capital. Frequently Asked Questions What should a beginner look for in the best stock trading courses? A clear teaching path, named instructors with a checkable record, and early lessons on risk. Free sample content from online courses lets aspiring traders test the teaching style before paying. Solid trading education pairs skill-building with a public review score and a real track record. How do beginner traders start to learn stock trading? Start with basic concepts: how the stock market works, how orders fill, and what market structure means. Good education layers skills step by step, from simple terms up to advanced strategies. Materials like guides and recorded lessons let a learner set a pace by preferred learning style. How important is trading psychology for successful trading? Trading psychology shapes decision-making and results. Fear and greed drive many poor calls, so emotional control forms a core skill for stock traders. Understanding your individual learning style and trading personality helps you match a plan to how you think. What is risk management in trading? Risk management is the set of rules that guards capital on every trade. Money management tools include stop-loss placement, position sizing by tolerance, and a planned exit before entry. Diversification spreads exposure in different asset classes so one loss does not sink a portfolio. What are the main trading styles? Day trading opens and closes positions inside one session, using strategies built for speed. Swing trading keeps a position for days or weeks to catch a larger move. Position work lasts longer, and each of the various trading styles needs a different time commitment. What markets can a trader study? Financial markets span stocks, forex trading, options trading, and futures trading. Each of the asset classes carries a different risk profile and a separate set of financial instruments. A learner picks a focus, then a course built for it. What is technical analysis? Technical analysis reads price charts to judge probable direction. Lessons cover support and resistance, candlestick patterns, trend analysis, and market trends. Fundamental analysis pairs with it, weighing company numbers through steady analysis. How does paper trading help before trading with real money? Paper trading, also called simulated trading, lets a learner rehearse with virtual funds. Hands-on practice teaches order entry, trade alerts, and discipline at no financial risk. Repetition through a practice account tends to stick better than lectures alone. How long does building a trading career take? Timelines vary by effort and market chosen. Basic concepts can take weeks, while chart reading and trading strategies run into months. Steady study and repeated practice matter more than speed. Why does past performance matter little for picking a course? Past performance of any trade or strategy gives no assurance of a future result. A learner gains more from the depth of educational materials and the clarity of teaching. Judge the best trading courses on curriculum, named coaches, and honest risk lessons rather than headline numbers. Disclaimer The content above is for education and general information only.
