  • Kross Studio Releases "Star Wars" Inspired Ultimate Collector Sets

Kross Studio has achieved a stunning and significant milestone within just months of the company’s official launch, collaborating with Lucasfilm on this brand-new Star Wars™-inspired set. The release pays tribute to the iconic Star Wars space saga, creating a 10-piece series of Death Star-inspired Ultimate Collector Sets, for those who savor Star Wars history as much as high-end design objects. Crafted to the finest standards of Swiss design and engineering, this set is the perfect companion for collectors. The new Death Star Ultimate Collector sets retail for $150,000 each and are available for sale here. Own a Piece of Cinematic History Kross Studio brings the emblematic power of the Death Star to life as the imposing design details of the mobile space station and planet-destroying superweapon is featured as the cornerstone of this new collection. Each collectible set contains an official screen-used kyber crystal - the power source of the Death Star’s superlaser - as featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. This marks the first time that authentic kyber crystal props will be released to the public as part of Kross Studio ultimate collector set and are an opportunity for die-hard fans to own a piece of the fascinating Star Wars galaxy. An Eminent Design Object with an Immersive Visual Experience The powerful and precious nature of the crystals required them to be stored in armored crates for transport. Faithful to the film storytelling, Kross Studio conceived an official reproduction of those containers, made of wood and aluminum. More than 700 parts were necessary to produce each container, scaled to half the original film dimensions of 3.94 feet long (1.20 meters). Fully hand-assembled and hand-painted, the containers embody the iconic saga story down to the smallest detail. Every aspect of these substantial art objects, like fine sculptures, have been thoroughly conceptualized and executed with immersive details that take the viewer into the Star Wars galaxy, from the electronic control panel to the backlit manifest panel inscribed in the Aurebesh language of the Galactic Empire. Inside, the container is divided into nine storage units. Three interior sections secure three removable capsules, containing: the Death Star Tourbillon watch, three accompanying timepiece straps sets, and the genuine movie prop kyber crystal, as featured in the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The other 6 free storage spaces within the crate offer ample storage space for collectors to house their personal Star Wars collectibles and ephemera, secured within a removable top cover. Inspired by the Death Star Legacy Kross Studio took up the challenge of the central tourbillon - a mechanical complication honoring the prominent Death Star. Featured in a 45 mm black DLC coated grade 5 titanium case, the captivating Death Star-inspired Tourbillon cage makes one revolution per minute. On the surface of the Death Star-inspired Tourbillon, a green superlaser cannon stands reminiscent of the space station’s kyber crystal enabled power. The Death Star-inspired Tourbillon watch itself tells us a great story of passion, craftsmanship and advanced technology. Notable technical innovations are highlighted such as the house-developed manual-winding mechanical movement that delivers a robust 5-day power reserve. The hands have been affixed to a peripheral display that orbits 360 degrees around the tourbillon. A traditional crown system has been replaced by an ingenious, inset push-button system. Kross Studio developed a D-ring shaped crown on the case back for winding the watch, stowed out of sight to help maintain the timepiece’s sleek, space-age styling. These clean lines are also preserved by cleverly hiding quick-release buttons on the underside of the case. This practical feature will doubtless be welcomed by collectors, allowing a quick change of the straps from the included calfskin leather strap to either of the two other included rubber straps. Celebrate in Our Own Galaxy Endlessly explore this beautiful design piece, where Star Wars iconography is subtly inserted to sublimate the whole, such as the esthetic Galactic Empire emblem and the push-button featuring an engraving in Aurebesh script - one of the most widely used alphabets in the Star Wars galaxy. Moreover, the hour hand takes the shape of an Imperial-Class Star Destroyer, the bane of the rebellion, while the minute hand appears as a Super-Class Star Destroyer, able to carry no less than 38,000 stormtroopers. At last, the fixed hours wheel, filled with white superluminova "blue emission”, is inspired by the lighting halls embedded in the Imperial vessels. Only 10 of these Death Star-inspired Collector Sets will ever be produced, but their launch is just the first of more exciting Star Wars-inspired products to come from Kross Studio as they look forward to bringing the most breathtaking and immersive experiences to their fans and customers. • Starchitects & Sunshine Lead to Surge of South Florida Luxury Condo Sales

South Florida is a hot spot for real estate in the post-COVID world, experiencing a surge in demand from buyers seeking to relocate or ride-out the pandemic under sunnier skies. With single-family home inventory drying up, luxury buyers have shifted to scooping up multi-million-dollar condos. Monad Terrace - Bay View Boutique luxury condominiums created by world-renowned architects are leading the way when it comes to attracting high-end buyers. Monad Terrace by Ateliers Jean Nouvel in Miami Beach marked well over $40M of sales in 40 days, and three of their four penthouses are already sold. “Our sales success and record deals are a testament to the quality and singularity of the project,” said Michael Stern, Founder and CEO of JDS Development Group. The Bayfront building is available for immediate occupancy and features only 59 residences catering to a private, yet open outdoor lifestyle. Each light-filled residence is oriented to enhance uninterrupted water and city views, and feature expansive terraces with climbing gardens that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor living. Amenities include private elevator access, in-house concierge, a Bayfront sun deck with a 116-foot swimming pool and hot tub, juice bar, wellness center, and private dock. Residences in some cases are even being sold sight-unseen, going under contract quickly and all virtually. Click below to launch slideshow > Monad Terrace “Buyers are looking for luxury, low-density and familiarity. You have people migrating from areas like New York and California who don’t know the area but want to make a decision quickly. They are gravitating towards turn-key buildings backed by architects and developers who they know and trust,” said Ida Schwartz with The Schwartz Team at Compass. “Condo living is also easy, with full amenities and low maintenance.” In January 2021, new signed contracts for condos over $1M in Miami-Dade jumped by 224% compared to the same period in 2020, according to a Douglas Elliman market report produced in conjunction with Jonathan Miller of Miller Samuel INC. Click below to launch slideshow > Arte The beachfront Arte by Antonio Citterio is also experiencing a spike in demand, recently selling the penthouse for $33 million, a duplex villa for $16 million to a West Coast buyer, and a four-bedroom condo for $10.2 million to a New York buyer. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are reportedly renting a unit in the building. “We built Arte to cater to an exclusive selection of buyers who have not found quality design, exclusive privacy or outstanding service anywhere else in Miami,” said the developers of the project, Alex Sapir and Giovanni Fasciano. “The experience of owning at Arte is like joining a private club, where you have access to the amenities and services of the finest resorts around the world, and can enjoy the company of the country’s business and social elite.” Featuring only 16 residences, the oceanfront building offers spacious floor plans, unobstructed water views and amenities including a spa with a sauna and steam room, indoor and outdoor pools, meditation pond, children’s room and rooftop tennis court programmed by celebrity coach James Bollettieri. Click below to launch slideshow > One Thousand Museum Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum in downtown Miami reported $22 million sold in the first week of 2021 alone. A tech investor from San Francisco recently purchased a penthouse for $16 million and a hedge funder from New York bought a half-floor unit for $6.3 million. The 60-story tower marks the late Pritzker Prize-winning architect’s first and final residential skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere – and offers a collection of expansive, museum-quality residences with a two-story amenity space, an aquatic center, health spa, and the city’s only private rooftop helipad. “A lot of our buyers come to Miami looking for single-family homes, but they have come to realize very quickly that there is little to no inventory,” said Harvey Daniels and Anna Sherrill, with One Sotheby’s International Realty. “We have seen an incredible surge in sales at One Thousand Museum due to the fact that there are so many high-net-worth buyers now demanding large, completely finished and exquisite new spaces that they can move right into.” By Evans Smith • Images courtesy of Monad Terrace, Arte and One Thousand Museum

  • TRX Founder Brings “Uber of Fitness” To South Florida

This past weekend in Plantation, Mayor Lynn Stoner joined Randy Hetrick, former Navy SEAL and founder of TRX Training, the creator of the “Black and Yellow” straps you’ve likely seen hanging in gyms and health clubs across the country, to launch “OutFit,” an innovative mobile fitness service that some early customers are describing as the “Uber of Fitness”. Hetrick created OutFit in response to the COVID-19 fallout as millions of Americans shut out of health clubs turned to home fitness programs and other resourceful training solutions to stay in shape. Amidst its various waves of quarantine, the COVID pandemic sequestered millions of consumers to their homes, and onto emerging digital fitness solutions, leading to a renaissance period for brands like TRX, Peloton, Nordic Track, Mirror, Tonal, and others. Throughout 2020, while consumers learned to sustain their fitness-oriented lifestyles without traditional health clubs and gyms, their lives became more and more confined -- trapped within their own homes and stuck in a lifestyle dominated by Zoom meetings, virtual hangouts, Grubhub deliveries, and streaming TV. On one hand, the pandemic drove home fitness to entirely new heights. On the other hand, it intensified our need as human beings for fresh air, natural elements, and the sensations of vitality and wellness that come from being outdoors. OutFit is the antidote to a life of virtual reality; it’s actual reality. “Mobile devices and online delivery services have brought enormous conveniences to our lives, but they’ve also isolated us in many ways. The pandemic took that to an entirely different level,” said Hetrick. “Our goal for Outfit is to combine the power of a mobile, on-demand service, with the traditional benefits of group training and, best of all, getting people outside and together again!” Hetrick, a career SEAL Officer who holds public service in high regard, understands the sacrifice of first responders all too well. Because of this, OutFit offers free, Open Memberships to active duty municipal first responders (police, fire, EMT) and their families as a way to say thank you to those folks who put their lives on the line every day. This charter was on full display over the weekend as Plantation Fire & Rescue attended the grand reveal and ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by an Open “HIIT” workout with Hetrick, Mayor Stoner and an excited group of local residents to usher in the launch of this innovative mobile fitness experience. OutFit will deploy a fleet of customized vans loaded with TRX’s best-in-class equipment to deliver its expertly coached workouts to neighborhood cul de sacs, parks, and schools in cities throughout South Florida. OutFit leverages a unique, proprietary technology platform, including a mobile app that allows members to efficiently locate, schedule, and pay for services. The company’s pricing structure is yet another way it breaks from convention, leveraging a simple subscription model with three tiers of pricing: “Open,” “Team” and “Private”, with memberships starting at just $9.95 per month. Each tier offers a different level of attention, personalization and convenience to meet the various preferences and priorities of its members. Customers can choose from large “Open” bootcamp style workouts, smaller “Team” group classes with friends & family, and “Private” one-on-one personal training sessions. Even OutFit’s “private sessions” defy convention, with 1:1 personal training clients always welcome to bring a “plus one” at no additional charge. And the company incentivizes the creation of small “private groups” of family, friends, and neighbors -- with dynamic pricing in its Private Tier that declines with each additional group member. For every workout, OutFit delivers an expert coach supported by innovative display and timing elements, including audio cues, visual lighting and color-coded work and rest intervals that can be customized to suit the widest range of fitness and ability levels. OutFit is focusing on South Florida as its proving ground before expanding across the country in the coming months. If you’re interested in experiencing OutFit’s cutting-edge mobile fitness experience, whether on the beach, your favorite park or direct to your home, visit the Outfit website (www.OutFitTraining.com) or download the Outfit app in the App Store or on Google Play. • Destination Quiet: Healing Through Light with Photographer Ian Patrick O’Connor

Ian Patrick O’Connor has lived many lives, and could be called many things. Photographer, Artist, Skateboard Photographer, SkARTist (a hybrid title for professional skateboarders who make art, and vice versa) or Surfer. The most striking quality Ian possess is his enviable aura of shaman-esque calm, stripped of ego or any hint of pretentiousness. He is calm, cool, collected, and seems to have cracked the secret to enlightenment. I would add most importantly, Ian is a Healer, and his solo exhibit “Present + Transcend” is an achievement in reaching Nirvana through photography. To celebrate the run of “Present + Transcend,” which is displayed at Soho Beach House, Ian participated in an art talk moderated by Oolite Arts’ Vice President of Programming; Esther Park. Ian and Esther discussed his work, technique, and backstory on the rooftop of Soho Beach House, as sunset slowly faded into nightfall, under the spell of what artists like to call “the God hour.” The photos comprising Ian’s dual series “Present + Transcend” are a healthy dose of calm. Mother Nature is Ian’s studio. He’s managed to capture quiet moments, from the desolate deserts of Joshua Tree, to places a little closer to home; Miami, Kendall, Homestead, and Key Largo. A paper square and 4 x 5 film create a Floridian wonderland of zen, commanded through Ian’s lens. He proves luxe exotic locations aren’t required to find beauty, or better yet, solace and inner peace. One of the more eye catching photos from “Transcend” was birthed in Kendall Hammocks Park. Looking at this particular photo, one would think they’ve been transported to an Amazonian retreat, a guiding orange square as their light source. Transcend #11, 2019 Photo Courtesy of Ian Patrick O’Connor official website Space and color embody the work of “Present,” which as a series can serve as a visual love letter to the city of Miami. “Present” is Ian’s documentation of Miami. “I try to keep it more Scarface and less Pinterest. Ian describes the process of the series as “seeing something, and the creative Gods whisper to go make that into a photo.” 11th & Alton Photo Courtesy of Ian Patrick O’Connor official website “Transcend” introduces Ian’s foray into light and color therapy, while in conversation with Nature. “Transcend” aims to transfer positive energy through photos. One of the inspirations for this project he attributes to Dr. Masaru Emoto’s book The Hidden Messages in Water. So, about the square. The color square is the focal part, something the eye can’t help but return to. A port in a storm from Nature’s wildness. Something about the square provides shelter telling you It’s all going to be okay. The square is a repeating theme in Ian’s body of work. A mantra even. The technicality involves matching a roll of paper (the color square) to align with Ian’s 4 x 5 film. In order to capture this moment of meditative bliss, while choosing unadulterated outdoor elements as a backdrop, Ian describes having to battle the elements. Rain, wind, and all the violent abruptness one faces when control is surrendered to landscape. Also not (always) having official commercial permits to shoot. “Present + Transcend” is the pay off for enduring this struggle. A struggle that delivers a full healing process, not just for Ian himself, but for the viewer. Ian intentionally matches the square to the landscape, which achieves a therapeutic absorption via color. Transcend #2, 2017 Photo Courtesy of Ian Patrick O’Connor official website Prior to Ian’s fine art career, and in a previous life, he spent years as a professional skateboard photographer; still loved and idolized amongst the skate community today. His career switch is something of a punk Cinderella story. Growing up in Key Largo, which Ian describes as a weird place for one’s childhood years, skateboarding became an outlet and interest. Fast forward to the 1990’s, Ian fell into Miami’s skate scene while simultaneously taking photography classes at Miami Dade College. Ian became a staff photographer for Skateboard Magazine and Adio Footwear, soon solidifying himself within the beautifully chaotic world of professional skateboarding. One of his most notable skate subjects includes Mark Gonzales, a pioneer of modern street skateboarding. Ian’s time as a SkARTist however was only the beginning that would lay the foundation for his fine art career. The presence of landscape and natural surroundings is a constant through Ian’s body of work, and something that he became drawn to while traveling all over the world taking photos of skateboarders. Eventually Ian out grew this period of his life.“I just remember being in a ditch in Arizona shooting this guy doing technical tricks…and I was laying on my back in the heat…and I didn’t find the photos interesting. I became bored of shooting skating.” Shortly after, Ian spent time with artist Doug Aitken which he describes as “a pivotal moment” and “eye opening” to the world of contemporary art. But knowing and appreciating this portion of Ian’s life provides even more context to his work in “Present + Transcend.” Swap out empty parking lots, abandoned concrete structures, and temperamental skateboarders for Mother Nature in her purest unadulterated form. All while trying to capture a moment of bliss suspended in time. When describing the skill needed for skateboard photography Ian explains, “It’s very difficult on a technical level, and then you have the whole thing that skateboarding isn’t permitted in a lot of places. So you have to set up a studio in the street, and get your photo while there’s guys flying around in the air. It’s pretty challenging, but it builds this base as a photographer that you can shoot anything and everything.” When asked if he would ever return to professional skateboard photography, Ian stands by his retirement firmly. Transworld SKATEboarding Cover shot by Ian Patrick O’Connor. Photo Courtesy of Trick Report Ian’s photos produce harmony and balance, whether it’s a colored square against a Floridian landscape, or a skateboarder landing a trick. Raw nature provides the chaos, and Ian’s lens provides the peace. “Present + Tranced” captures the brilliant dichotomy of chaos and calm. In times when the world may seem overbearing, and the weight of the world’s ugly dark realities can be too much, his photos are the antidote. He provides the light. All we have to do is sit, observe, and wait for the silence. Looking to the future, Ian’s long term goals include creating workshops where he can pass on his knowledge and teach younger generations how to shoot photography; whether the subjects are skateboarders or natural landscapes. In addition to exhibiting his photos in galleries, Ian hopes to add children’s hospitals as a place one can become pleasantly lost in the quiet of color and light. • Staying Fit During Difficult Times

As a child I developed a passion for health and fitness. It started with a desire to help my close relatives overcome sickness and hard times. This was difficult to witness but now I see these events as a blessing. They inspired me to educate myself and provided me with the experience and skills to help communities outside of my family achieve the same. Staying fit, especially now, has become crucial for us to reduce COVID-19 risks. It helps us take care of our immune system, physical and mental health. Fitness is more important than ever before! Through this article, I’m hoping to touch on some subjects that will come as a reminder to some and a great wakeup call to others. NUTRITION As we all know, food is energy for the body, which is an exciting fact! One of the first questions I ask during a nutrition consultation is “ Do you feel like you have enough energy throughout the day?” The answer to this question alone can tell a lot about one’s diet. Implementing a daily practice of reflecting on one’s energy level is a great way to detect the consumption of high-level energy foods vs. low-level energy foods. If an individual finds themselves often sluggish, constantly consuming caffeine beverages to get through the day, brain fog, slow reaction and response times or needing to lie down for naps – it is highly likely the foods that they are consuming are low in nutritional value. Now more than ever we must keep ourselves healthy and consciously take our aliment seriously in order to protect us from COVID-19. Thankfully, Crunch Fitness has partnered with DotFit, a respectable Vitamin and supplement company that stand by products that are safe and reliable. They are also FDA regulated and most NSF Certified (Pro Athletes only use NSF Certified Supplements). I found that DotFit.com is a great tool to help one understand more about their specific dietary needs. It has the tools designed to track macronutrients. All of Crunch fitness professionals are DotFit certified. To learn more about its benefits, reach out to us for a wellness consultation! FITNESS Isn’t it amazing how we are all distinctively different from one another? Each individual’s kinetic chains are specific and unique: from the way one walks to how one bends down to pick up something. At Crunch, we take a personal and close look at our client’s bodies in order to analyze its overall kinetic functionally. This is done prior to starting any program in order to achieve maximum results. Every individual has over compensations, limitations, overactive and underactive muscles. These body unbalances need to be addressed before starting any workout program – just like our nutritional approach. I’m very thankful to have the opportunity to work at Crunch because the company culture is designed to take care of its members and employees. If you haven’t visited Crunch in South Beach yet, come by! We have a beautiful facility where you can get all of your work out and wellness needs. • Jack & Jill Center to Debut New Madelaine Halmos Academy State-of-the-Art School Building

The Madelaine Halmos Academy’s (MHA) new state-of-the-art elementary school building, an expansion of Jack & Jill Center’s Early Education Center at its 1315 West Broward Blvd. campus in Fort Lauderdale, is scheduled to debut in April 2021. Serving students from high-need working families in kindergarten–fifth grade, the transformational project, currently under construction, is geared to prepare students for success in career and life, and be one of the highest-performing schools in Broward County. In October 2017, after careful financial and operational planning, along with parent and community feedback, Jack & Jill Center’s board of directors approved a plan to construct and operate a modern elementary school on its existing campus. The groundbreaking took place in August 2019. Under the supervision of general contractor Herman Construction Services, Inc., the modern 2-story, 28,767-square-foot building will feature 12 classrooms, an arts and science lab, music and media lab, rooftop play area, wellness room, dining room, and state-of-the-art security and technology. The architect is Miami-based Zyscovich Architects, which offers significant experience in school design. The MHA project will be accomplished through the $11 million Madelaine Halmos Academy Capital Campaign, with $9.2 million needed to construct the state-of-the-art school building, and $1.8 million to provide initial operating funds. Currently, the campaign has raised $9.5 million. The campaign is seeking donors. “We’re committed to Jack & Jill and supporting its effort to have an even deeper and enduring presence in the lives of children and families, particularly those living in the most challenging of circumstances,” said Madelaine Halmos, honorary co-chair of the Madelaine Halmos Academy Capital Campaign. “Establishing a new elementary school built upon Jack & Jill’s proven model of education and family support is, in our opinion, an important and necessary step to securing successful lives for families in need.” “We’re proud to help launch this effort with our gift and will do everything possible to make the new school a reality,” said Steve Halmos, honorary co-chair of the Madelaine Halmos Academy Capital Campaign. “We want to thank the community for its support in helping us to construct this new school, which will significantly enhance our ability to develop lifelong learners, launching them into bright, prosperous futures,” said Heather Siskind, CEO of Jack & Jill Center, Inc. Students are expected to start at the new building in May 2021. Early education is offered year-round. Most MHA students will receive tuition funding from Step Up for Students, a state-approved nonprofit scholarship funding organization that helps administer five scholarships for Florida schoolchildren. Every student who graduates from MHA is awarded a 2-year college scholarship. Currently housed at a leased space at the Salvation Army Community Center in Fort Lauderdale, MHA provides safe, academically sound and socially supportive environment for all learners. By constructing a new building, MHA will significantly extend its offerings by providing an accredited school incorporating research-based best practices. Some of its features include a technology-driven STEM curriculum; dedicated, highly-skilled staff and educators with low student to teacher ratios; extended school day for students; daily healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks; extracurricular activities fostering healthy social-emotional growth and personal development, educational field trips, a quality after-school program to include enriched after-school and summer camp experiences, and on-site counseling and therapeutic services. MHA’s kindergarten–fifth grade program will serve 220 students, with 352 total students (including early education and elementary school education) benefiting from the Jack & Jill education program. MHA’s building will create 37 new full-time jobs. • Interiors with Nikita Kahn: Ibiza Style

This month we focus on Ibiza style. This style and décor is casual and elegant, yet expresses an eclectic vibe and almost bohemian-like character. Combine traditional island furniture pieces made of natural materials in earthy, natural colors with modern functionality --think the Repose Sofa by Adam Court with its neutral palatte, and CB2’s Notch Wood Chair made of solid acacia and a back split down the middle. The Pierre Jeanneret Easy Chair Armchair is another example of a traditional chair constructed of solid teak and a woven cane back and seat. Add a few decorative and unique items to enhance this style’s carefree vibe, like Techstraw’s braided material carafe and Kann Design’s unique Trink Teak Bar Cart made of wood, aluminum, and steel. 1stdibs PIERRE JEANNERET EASY CHAIR ARMCHAIR $13,000 https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/seating/armchairs/pierre-jeanneret-easy-chair-armchair/id-f_19636582/ Serena & Lily OLEMA SEAGRASS BASKET $228 www.serenaandlily.com/olema-seagrass-basket/natural/m11535.html CB2 NOTCH WOOD CHAIR $329 www.cb2.com/notch-wood-chair/s459782 MARTIN MASSE IPPICO 05 TRAVERTINE TABLE Price available upon request studiotwentyseven.com/furniture/ippico-05-travertine-table-by-martin-masse/ Pigment France Techstraw $344.51 pigmentfrance.com/catalogue Restoration Hardware WABI-SABI CHUNKY HAND-BRAIDED JUTE RUG $625 - $4,945 rh.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod17950005&categoryId=cat16660001 Kann Design TRINK TEAK BAR CART 2,940.00€ www.kanndesign.com/en/product/trink-teak-design-bar-cart Sofa image/top of the page: Adam Court REPOSA SOFA - Price available upon request - studiotwentyseven.com/furniture/repose-sofa-by-adam-court/
