Platforms

Starting off with a style that has been on the edge of trending for a few years now are platforms. Whether it be platform shoes by Melissa, or a pair of platform boots, they are making a strong comeback in 2026.

Not only are platforms incredibly versatile, but they be dressed up and dressed down, they are perfect for Summer and Winter, and most styles of platform shoes are super-comfortable and can be worn all day long.

Ballerina Heels

Now, this trend may be a bit of a surprise to many, but ballerina heels are one of the next big things in the world of shoes. As the name implies, they combine the classic ballerina shoe shape with a stylish heel.

While they won’t be for everyone, they are still worth trying on, considering the fun spin they put on the classic heel shape and design.

Jelly Flip Flops

Jelly sandals were all the rage during the 90s, and while jelly sandals have made a small comeback over the past few years, the new kid on the block is jelly flip flops. In short, they offer the same fun and unique style of jelly sandals, but in a bit of a more versatile form factor.

They are ideal for Summer, and are the perfect pair of shoes to throw on for the beach, a day poolside, or for a quick brunch with friends.

Modern Pumps

Pumps have unfortunately been left on the sidelines for many years, and haven’t really felt up-to-date for a while. However, designers have chosen to bring them into the 21st century, with modern pumps quickly taking over stores and catwalks.

Introducing new colors, styles, patterns, and everything in between, the modern pump is going to be your new best friend when it comes to formal work outfits, and will be a staple in your wardrobe from the day you buy them.

Sculptural Heels

Sculptured heels are easily some of the best-looking shoes on the market. As the name implies, these aren’t just shoes, but in many ways, are works of art. Ranging from having unique and detailed heels, to intricate designs on the shoes themselves.

Sculptural heels are designed to be the star of the show and stand out, and are perfect for taking even the simplest outfit to the next level, without having to wear or add any extras.

Classic Clogs

Another classic staple that are making their way back in 2026 are clogs. Typically associated with a more bohemian or European style, clogs are actually far more versatile than you think, as they can be worn with jeans, miniskirts, and cocktail dresses.

The simple design and typical colors also lend these shoes to most styles and wardrobes, and whether you are a bohemian lover or still living in your all-black goth era, there is a pair of clogs for you.

Minimalistic Riding Boots

Finally, boots have always been popular, but riding boots have always been seen as a shoe made for upper-class, countryside living. However, nothing could be further from the truth, and minimalist riding boots make that clear.

The simple designs create a chic, sophisticated silhouette that pairs well with jeans, a dress, or even a skirt. They are a great Winter wardrobe addition, especially if you want a shoe that can stand up to the elements but still looks stylish.

Tips for Buying Shoes

Now that you know a few of the best new shoe trends heading your way, here are a few pro tips to help you find the shoe that fits you the best.

Shop Later in the Day

One of the best secret tricks for buying shoes is to try them on later in the day. From about midday onwards, your feet start to swell, so when you try on shoes, pick a pair that fits best throughout the day, rather than getting tighter as the day goes on.

Test Shoes on Both Feet

Another tip to remember is to try shoes on both feet and just one. Not all of us are symmetrical in every way, and something as small as your one toe bending or curling slightly more than the same toe on your other foot can cause severe discomfort if you choose the wrong size shoe.

Bring Your Socks

Always be sure to bring a pair of socks when trying on shoes, such as sneakers or boots. You aren’t going to be wearing them barefoot, so they should fit around a sock, not your bare foot.

Don’t Rely on Stretch

Whether it’s a pair of sneakers or a brand new pair of heels, never tell yourself they'll stretch enough to fit properly. Unless you use some elbow grease, heat the material, and so on, shoes will actually stretch very little.

Therefore, if the shoe just doesn’t fit, then it never will. Opt for the pair that is a bit snug, but once again, don’t rely on the idea that they will eventually stretch enough to fit perfectly.
