The soursop or guanabana tree is a member of the Annonaceae family and is native to Tropical America. It can reach a height of about 30 feet. The edible fruits are conical to heart-shaped, covered with small spines. They are sweet with a slightly acidic or sour taste. The fruit pulp is often used in the preparation of milk shakes, ice cream, sherbets and juices. Proudly grown by our plant experts just for you.
From Horticulture and Art to Innovation Technology and Wellness, the Garden's dynamic roster of classes offers something for everyone!

The Garden’s instructors are known to inspire and energize students through demonstrations and unique hands-on experiences. So just bring an open mind and a playful spirit, and discover new-found interests and knowledge.

With more than 3,400 species of plants, there’s always something blooming at Fairchild! Each month, our horticulture staff and volunteers compile a list of interesting plants that flower and fruit, like the Tacca integrifolia, also known as the White Bat Flower pictured above.
