The Underline Hosts Bipartisan Miami-Dade Legislative Delegation for 2026 Session Update

Nine members of the Miami-Dade Legislative Delegation from both sides of the political aisle gathered on The Underline’s Inter Stage on June 9 to discuss key outcomes of the 2026 Florida Legislative Session, provide updates on legislation impacting South Florida, and address the issues shaping Miami-Dade's future, including housing affordability, workforce development, environmental resiliency and economic growth.
The Miami-Dade Legislative Delegation and community leaders gather on The Underline
Hosted by The Underline and sponsored by the Miami Downtown Development Authority and the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, the Legislative Update brought together state senators and representatives serving communities across Miami-Dade County for one of the largest post-session gatherings of the county's legislative delegation.
Throughout the discussion, legislators highlighted several initiatives aimed at strengthening Miami-Dade's economy and quality of life. Topics included Talent Bridge, a workforce development initiative designed to better connect students, educational institutions and employers; resiliency efforts addressing flooding and extreme weather impacts; investments in bicycle and pedestrian safety; support for veterans and individuals experiencing homelessness; and how AI is shaping our education.
A recurring theme throughout the discussion was the need for collaboration on issues unique to Miami-Dade County. Legislators spoke about the challenges of balancing rapid growth with affordability, infrastructure needs and environmental resilience, while ensuring the county remains competitive and accessible for future generations.
"This event showcases the support that the Miami-Dade Delegation has provided to Miami-Dade as a whole," said Eulois Cleckley, CEO of The Underline.
