The Science Behind Pixar Opens at Frost Science on October 10, 2026
The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami will open the interactive exhibition The Science Behind Pixar on Saturday, October 10, 2026, offering visitors an inside look at the technology used to create Pixar’s animated films.

The exhibition, located in the Hsiao Family Special Exhibition Gallery on the museum’s first floor, will run through Sunday, April 11, 2027. Admission to The Science Behind Pixar is included with regular museum tickets, and visitors can plan their visit through the museum’s website.
Inside the exhibition, guests can explore how modeling turns basic shapes into recognizable characters, experiment with virtual bones, joints and muscles that make characters move, and see how simulation helps create effects such as schools of fish in Finding Nemo. Visitors can also interact with more than 50 hands-on elements and pose with recreations of Pixar characters including Buzz Lightyear, Dory and WALL•E.
Museum members are offered additional access, including an exclusive members-only preview ahead of the public opening and early entry from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month beginning in November. Membership information is available on the Frost Science website, where visitors can become a member for ongoing access to the exhibition and other museum benefits.

The Science Behind Pixar was developed by the Museum of Science, Boston in collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios.
