The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami Begins $100M Renovation Ahead of 2025 Reopening

The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami has officially launched a $100 million full-scale transformation, marking its first comprehensive renovation since opening in 2001. Developed and led by Miami-based investment firm Gencom, the upgrade is designed to enhance the resort’s coastal luxury appeal while honoring its legacy in the Key Biscayne community.

Scheduled for completion by December 2025, the 420-room resort—spanning 17 acres and featuring 600 feet of beachfront—will be reimagined by a team of acclaimed designers, including Hart Howerton, Design Agency, and Chapi Chapo Design. The updated look will reflect the natural tones and textures of the surrounding island, integrating elegant interiors with lush, oceanfront surroundings.

The renovation will introduce a redesigned lobby with a new East-facing glass façade, upgraded guestrooms, and an overhauled spa inspired by the island’s natural elements. Dining will be elevated with a new signature restaurant and refreshed interiors for the resort’s six existing venues.

Additional improvements include enhancements to swimming pools, the fitness center, The Club Lounge, and the Cliff Drysdale Tennis Center—already the largest tennis facility among Ritz-Carlton resorts. The hotel’s 37,000 square feet of meeting and event space will also be updated to cater to both leisure and business travelers.

“This transformation reflects our long-term investment in the Key Biscayne community and ensures the resort continues to set the standard for luxury in Miami,” said Karim Alibhai, Founder and Principal of Gencom.

Part of Gencom’s $8 billion global portfolio, The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami joins an elite collection of properties including The St. Regis Chicago and Ritz-Carlton hotels in New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Bachelor Gulch.
