The Miami Beach EDITION Appoints Two Leading Chefs To Matador Room & Market at EDITION
The Miami Beach EDITION is honored to announce the appointment of two powerhouse culinary forces bringing their new perspective to the renowned restaurants of Michelin Star Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Talented Chef Lateisha Wilson takes the helm as Chef de Cuisine of MATADOR ROOM and MATADOR Bar, and equally passionate Chef Nyitre Rodgers takes on the role of Executive Sous Chef of MARKET at EDITION overseeing culinary operations.
Chef Lateisha
Chef Lateisha gravitated toward cooking from a young age and always sensed that she was destined for a professional culinary career. Born in New York City and raised in an African American and Cherokee Indian Household, Chef Lateisha was surrounded by different traditions and cooking styles both in and outside of her home. Living at the epicenter of diversity and culture, she was able to take on roles in some of the world’s best kitchens such as, Executive Sous Chef of ABC Cocina, Head Chef of Dekalb MARKET Hall, and as Sous Chef of both Barrace and Macondo. Chef Lateisha recently joined The Miami Beach EDITION as the new Chef de Cuisine of MATADOR ROOM and MATADOR Bar, and she looks forward to bringing her mother’s flavors and a wealth of multicultural experience to the table.
Chef Nyitre
Growing up in Southern Maryland, Chef Nyitre recalls watching her mother prepare authentic Southern classics, and her father reimagining the leftovers into new dishes, inspired by his Samoan Pacific Islander background. These memories ignited her creativity in the kitchen and her drive to innovate based on her multicultural background.
Chef Nyitre attended the prestigious Culinary Arts program at Johnson and Wales University where she fully immersed herself in the industry. Chef Nyitre began her journey with Marriott in 2018 at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Maryland. During her time there, she developed and oversaw her teams of Ladies and Gentlemen as well as conducted several seasonal soirees. She now joins the team at Market at EDITION and brings with her nuanced spices and heat, plus Asian flavor profiles throughout her dishes.
Prominent partner, Michelin Star Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten said, “I’m thrilled to welcome both Chef Lateisha Wilson to MATADOR ROOM and Chef Nyitre Rogers to MARKET at EDITION. Lateisha worked with us at ABC Cocina for five years and I’m excited for her to experience this new opportunity in Miami. Not only do they both bring a wealth of knowledge and skill, but the passion they show for their team, restaurant, and cuisine is inspiring. I look forward to collaborating with them in the near future and being back in Miami soon!”
