The Bass Museum of Art will host its Art Outside Annual Picnic on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Collins Park. The free community event will also serve as the grand opening celebration for The Rotunda, the museum’s newly renovated satellite gallery, which will offer free admission year-round.

The Rotunda's inaugural exhibition features Pascale Marthine Tayou’s Welcome Wall (2015-2026). Part of the museum’s permanent collection, the circular installation utilizes LED signs to spell "welcome" in over 200 languages. The expanded presentation includes many endangered and regionally specific languages, reflecting a diverse spectrum of global linguistic legacies.
The Art Outside Annual Picnic offers an afternoon of live entertainment and interactive programming. Attendees can enjoy pop covers by the Bop Shop Brass band and beats by DJ SAMMIHEADD. Creative activations include a figure drawing session hosted by Raw Figs, a portrait exchange by Everybody Draws Everybody, and hands-on art-making led by The Bass Creativity Center and Teen Board. Guests can also participate in a friendly Backgammon Social Meetup & Match.
A highlight of the afternoon will be the annual picnic setup contest, judged by WSVN’s Belkys Nerey, where guests can win prizes for the most creative, chic, or Miami Beach-themed spreads. Guided tours of the new Rotunda gallery will also be available throughout the event.

The picnic is free and open to the public with an RSVP. Seating in the park is on a first-come, first-served basis, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic setups. Parking is available at the municipal Collins Park Parking Garage at 340 23rd Street.
