Technogym Brings “Design to Move” to the U.S. with Five Designer Reinterpretations of Its Iconic Bench

Technogym is presenting its Design to Move exhibition in the United States for the first time during Design Miami. The showcase marks the brand’s 40th anniversary by inviting 40 designers and artists to reinterpret the Technogym Bench, the company’s multifunctional training station designed for compact home use. A selection of five pieces will be displayed in Miami from December 2–7, highlighting how wellness, materials, and contemporary design intersect.

The exhibition features new interpretations by Patricia Urquiola, Nendo, Walter De Silva, Gustavo Martini, and Michele Bönan. Each designer approaches the bench as an object that merges aesthetic expression with functional intent.

At the booth, visitors will find:

  • “Rocky Bench” by Patricia Urquiola — a sculptural piece constructed in Cimento, emphasizing tactility, density, and physical presence.

  • “Bench Press” by Nendo — a conceptual study that uses humor and simplicity to reflect on motion and exertion.

  • “Pure White” by Walter De Silva and Mario Antonioli — a minimalist composition focused on balance and the integration of wellness objects into domestic space.

  • “Bönan Bench” by Michele Bönan — a combination of carbon fiber and natural leather that highlights performance-driven luxury.

  • “Echo” by Gustavo Martini — a rhythmic, spatial interpretation exploring repetition, perception, and flow.

The presentation underscores Technogym’s foundation in Italian craftsmanship and its long-standing interest in uniting technological innovation with design-led approaches to wellness.
