South Florida Legal Guide Selects Michael Elkins, Esq. of MLE Law as a 2021 Top Lawyer

Updated: May 18, 2022

The South Florida Legal Guide (SFLG), part of the South Florida Business & Wealth family of publications, has selected Michael Elkins, Esq., founder and partner at Fort Lauderdale-based MLE Law, as a Top Lawyer in its 2021 issue.

For two decades, SFLG has proven to be a definitive guide to top lawyers, firms, and litigation and forensic support CPAs in South Florida. Going into its 21st edition, SFLG currently publishes listings including Top Lawyers, Top Law Firms, Top Up and Comer lawyers, and CPAs in litigation and forensic support.

Selections to SFLG’s Top Lawyers, Top Law Firms, and Top Up and Comer lawyers are based entirely on ballots presented annually to the legal community. Nominees are further vetted by the SFLG editorial team, including a review of accomplishments and standings with The Florida Bar.

Elkins, who has spent the majority of his career working in large to mid-size Florida law firms, is a 20-year litigator representing businesses, municipalities and individuals in labor and employment matters as well as providing outside General Counsel services (daily corporate advice, preparation and review of corporate documents, creation of corporate entities, merger and acquisition representation). Elkins assists clients with their day-to-day legal needs, administrative claims, matters pending in courts at any level, and employer/employee specific issues.

Elkins founded MLE Law to modernize the business of law by, among other things, rejecting the use of traditional brick and mortar office space and providing alternative fee structures wherein clients are not charged for phoning, emailing or texting about their matters. The firm allows for modern, efficient and global representation while only charging clients for actual legal work produced.

Elkins is also changing the way lawyers grow their business. He is the founder, producer and host of the “Quarter Four” podcast.

“Because South Florida Legal Guide’s Top Lawyers are determined by peer nominations, as well as standings with The Florida Bar and other accomplishments, I am particularly pleased to be selected for this honor,” said Elkins. “MLE Law is not a traditional law firm, and I am not a traditional lawyer. Using technology, I am making the business of law more efficient and beneficial for the client.”

The 2021 South Florida Legal Guide was released in April 2021.
